I was going to have this at CALA last week but I ran out of time, but then I came back and finished it and here it is. CALA was a really great festival, bursting with talented folks and kind fans.

It’s important to have friends and situations where you can manufacture positive emotional feedback loops. Not ironically, not overly schmaltzy and fake, but just hyping each other up. You should be able to do something mundane, get gassed up by your friends, and respond in kind with that energy. It’s one of the best things in the world, I promise.

#just a few times#few enough that I really can't take wholehearted assertions that wasps are AGGRESSIVE AND MEAN seriously at all. tbqh#hey man I've been outdoors A Lot and also spent a solid three or four years Going Barefoot literally everywhere including outside#the ONE (1) time I got a sting that made me go 'okay asshole what's your problem >:('#I was probably 15-20ft away from a nest whose colony were-- to be fair-- riled up and on the defensive#and they were something other than yellowjackets so I'm not familiar with their like. comfort radius I guess#otherwise like... I've sat on a wasp and I've accidentally put my hand down on a wasp#and one time a wasp flew up out of the boardwalk at my friend's grandma's house and stung me between the shoulder blades--#but I assume there was a nest under there and it was STILL just the one who got fighty about it#I've gotten so close to wasp nests both incidentally and on purpose (to take pictures)#I've had yellowjackets land on the apple I was actively eating for a little sippy#one time I coaxed a yellowjacket onto my hand to move her somewhere else because I was at a wedding and had nothing else on me I could use#I can count my lifetime of bee stings on one hand. 'ooohhh they're so aggressive and hateful they'll kill you for no reason' skill issue#about me
