Text Box Investigation On/Off Option is Coming!

I’ve heard everyone loud and clear, and since I needed a little break from writing the extra scene I’m on, I went ahead and figured out how to work a toggle option for Text Box Investigations. Starting next update, you will be able to toggle seamlessly between TBI’s and regular choicescript choices for the investigation portions of the game! Obviously I want the game to be accessible to as many people as possible, so this will help serve that end. The Text Box Investigations will be on by default from the beginning of the game, so if you want to play without them, simply turn them off whenever you wish while you’re playing. You can also toggle them back on if you ever wanted to try playing with them on as well!

May 14th, 2024 Update + Sneak Peek Over On Patreon!

Hello everyone, I apologize for the bit of the drought here for the past week and a half or so! Again, these scenes will end up in the base game, but you get access to them first over on Patreon, as that’s kind of what people want from Patreons.

Lemme tell you, coding intimate scenes, even ones that don’t go fully into sex scene territory, is more work than coding fight scenes… Seriously, in this scene alone, there are over 48 different variations that are all going to be pretty much completely different from one another. Just being a more flirtatious top is 3000 words total so far in this current scene because of gender variables between the PC and the RO. It is nutty (no pun intended).

That being said, for those of you that don’t want the spicy content or are not going for Lance as an RO, have no fear! This hangout scene for Lance can simply be entirely platonic and you can just be two buddies hangin’ out watching a movie. And for those of you that don’t like to view the spicy text but still want to say that your PC canonically slept with Special Agent Lance, you can do that too! There’s going to be an option to choose scenes to Fade To Black in the very beginning of the game, so that if you choose to go into a spicy scene, you don’t have to break the immersion of the story by choosing the option right then and there. Instead, you choose it before the story even begins!

In total, I’m guessing this extra story will probably be somewhere around 40k-50k words long. I’m most certainly getting one of the lengthy ones out of the way early here. I hope you guys enjoy the sneak peek, and I will try to come up for something to do for Thursday, but a lot of my energy and resources is going to be trying to finish up this extra story.

Happy Mother's Day!

Hi! Are you able to go more in depth about what each members mutation is? I've only been able to do a full demo playthrough once and I'm not 100% sure what Hawks or Lance's mutations are!

More than happy to clarify this! These are essentially just going to be brief summaries of each.

Hawks - Can see things in real time as they happen without the normal human delay it takes to get information from the eyes to the brain.

Lance - Can immensely change the density of their muscles, allowing for things like extra strength and steel like density.

Ryder - Depending on their emotions, their body temperature rises to astronomical and sometimes, potentially dangerous, heights.

Alvarez - Heals much faster than a normal person and essentially does not age.

I haven't even read it yet, but I already stan Danielle. Need.

How do the backgrounds work? I'm stuck between a criminal psychologist and a data analyst but I don't know if the actually affect the story.

Backgrounds affect flavor text and will sometimes give you insights into certain things that other backgrounds wouldn't. For instance, if you're at the coroner's office and you take the coroner or psychologist background, your PC will know more facts about the human brain, bypassing the needed intelligence check for it. Just small stuff like that. Hope that helps!

One fun fact about Alvarez coming up!

Alvarez was born in the 70's, and as such, they have a slightly older taste in movies. They have a soft spot for anything involving Bill Murray, and their favorite movie is Stripes!

Ok but like has S ever been touched before MC?

As far as skin to skin contact goes? Not in a way that's really meaningful. People may have brushed against them here and there, but those are very rare moments and don't really count in my mind. Then there was the extra story within the game which tells you about the time Ryder was at a party that Alvarez had to drive them and Kate home from because it didn't end well.

So, in that regard, MC may quite literally be the only person who could ever give them the normalcy of touch without barriers in between.

Is there a reason why MC doesn't smoke? feels like most of the choices tend to be negative or neutral at best, is it because our brother smokes?

Part of this would be because of the brother's struggles with addiction, for sure. Alvarez can do it because of their mutation, and there's one other member of the MCT that will have a smoke with them every once in a while as well (though I'll save that little reveal for later and let people speculate for now).

But yes, real talk, don't worry about not getting the password too much. I put in measures for the game so that if you didn't find the password, you could still find evidence of what was on the computer in a different way! My best advice for that? Check things twice.

When we talk to Carter on the train, he asked if we're interested in romance/dating. If we choice we don't really into in, are we lock off from the romance or it's just a casual chat?

It's just a casual chat! You're still able to romance Lance no matter what your responses on the train are!

May 4th, 2024 Update - An Eventful Week!

Hey guys, just wanted to keep you up to date with what I've gotten done this week. First off, the entire scene of Alvarez's therapy session, and the final flashback of the night that Kate died, is finished. I got the entire scene done this week, which honestly, I'm very happy with. On top of that, there have been complaints of word bulk in my story, and there was one scene in particular I agreed with that. I was still pretty new to coding when I wrote the first half of this story, and I'd say I only really started to get the hang of it when I implemented text box investigations.

Lance's after funeral scene has been stripped down from a total of around 260k words, to a total of about 22k words. Now, that is a TOTAL, and that does not affect how many words you see in the scene. I had lots of stuff copy and pasted in that scene in particular, but the average wordcount per playthrough is still the same. In fact, I was even able to add in a brand new small flirt choice at the end since I had the extra room. So technically, there's more content than there was before.

I've also fixed a couple of grammatical and spelling errors in the warehouse scene, and I've begun sinking my teeth into the Lance extra scene. I've slightly modified that extra scene list from how it was previously, and I'm pretty sure this is the final version of it. Just as a reminder, those extra scenes are going to be released here to view for the Agent Tier before they're released with an update.

Hiii I’m curious, do you know which is the most popular ro?

I definitely feel like, from what I've seen, Ryder is the most popular romance option in the game so far for sure. My best guess is that it's because their route has the most emotional pain out of all of them so far, and I knew this book in particular was going to have a lot of moments that would focus on Ryder because of their bond with Kate, so it makes sense.

They're a bit abrasive, but they're not abrasive because they're mean, they're abrasive because they're tired... in ever sense of the word. I think that's what's been drawing people to them, if I had to guess.

I will never tell. You can't make me.

hiii, I just played your game and really enjoyed it! Nice work! But I have a question, if you don’t mind, what is the atitude stat on the teams page? like what does it mean?

The attitude stats are just to show you how much all of them like you! Honestly, it works as a threshold for the relationship options and reactions in book one, and is a setup for who the MC will be second closest to in Books 2 and 3. That's their main purpose.
