NEW UPDATE IS OUT!
I’M FREE! FREEEEEE! 32 MOSTLY UNIQUE VARIATIONS OF INTIMATE SCENES DONE!

So, like stated above, the update is out! I’ll leave a list of patch notes, but this is majorly a bigger one for Alzarez and Lance romancers. The Lance extra story “Movie and Dessert” is being released with this update. You will need to replay the game. I’m sorry about that. BUT it’s because I added in new variables to the train scene so that stuff said there could possibly be brought up in this new scene! Reactivity, yay!
Along with that, you’ll get to read Alvarez’s flashback scene which is the actual end of Chapter 4. Along with a lot of little goodies. All in all, there was about… 44k-45k words added into this update? 40k of them are entirely optional and only happen if you choose to hang out with Lance after Alvarez’s flashback scene scene.
Not gonna lie, 1 variation in I was confident it would take two weeks. 8 variations in I was a bit tired but still energized to get this scene done. 16 variations in I had to step away for a couple of days to not let my brain melt. By the time I hit mid-twenties in variation for this scene, I was finding myself thinking that it just. wasn’t. worth it.
I have no idea if I’ll make the other intimate scenes this branching. It was honestly a lot of work. Like, a lot, it it was so fatiguing after a while, but I knew I had to get it done. IT’s also the reason I paused my patreon this month, because it wouldn’t be fair to charge people for something that they’re not getting early as promised in the rewards. This took way longer than I thought, so I wanted to just release it to everyone at once.

Patch Notes:
“Movie and Dessert” Lance Extra Scene is finished.
Alvarez Flashback scene is finished.
Added a Text Box Investigation Tab in the Stats Screen.
You are now able to toggle between Text Box Investigations and regular choice script gameplay for TBI sequences.
You can now view the Text Box Investigation tutorial at any time via the stats screen.
Removed the Text Box Investigation Tutorial from chapter 4.
Added an option in the beginning of the game to Fade To Black during intimate scenes.
You can now pick asexual and aromantic as separate options, and they are not tied to each other.
Grammar edits and fixes (thank you to all who report them).

The Bureau (2022) is an adventure zine for Goblin Archives’ Liminal Horror RPG (a horror hack of Cairn), though conversion rules are included for Agents of ODD, The Company and Mothership.
Basically, this is an RPG version of Remedy’s 2019 videogame Control. There are some other influences, and a good number of new and interesting ideas, but the framework is all Contol: a government agency devoted to studying extradimensional incursions, in a weird high rise headquarters that re-arranges itself, whose hubristic delving into the unknown results in extraplanar hijinx, and so on. I feel like Control inspired a ton of RPG material in its wake, but this is my pick for the zine that encapsulates that vibe the best. The aesthetic, which pits the banal rigor of bureaucracy against the chaos of intruding realities, is on point.
There’s a good balance here between a disorienting, shifting environment and several clear story lines that emerge through play. Basically, there is one BIG problem in the building that has created a lot of little problems that need solving, though doing so has ambiguous results. And that’s all I will say about that, lest I spoil anything.
Bottom line: a solid adventure, a good foundation for an ongoing campaign and an excellent start for Liminal Horror.

Day 13/30 : Tsukada Chieko (New Beginning)
The Bureau promised her that she will have a family that will adopt her and take care of her : they kept their promise.
Now Chieko spends some quality time with her new family in her new home in China. It's a life changer for her, but now she has a Foster family that takes care of her after all she's been through.

Before joining 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘂, 𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐲 was studying to become a coroner (this career path was abruptly cut short due to their father's death) 🪦
They drive a 𝘔𝘪𝘵𝘴𝘶𝘣𝘪𝘴𝘩𝘪 𝘔𝘪𝘳𝘢𝘨𝘦
𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐲 has an older brother named 𝐉𝐚𝐜𝐞; despite their strained relationship they've tried to make sure he's safe & doing “okay” (+ they somehow still love him deep down in their heart) ... he's the only living family member they have left ... 𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐲 is terrified of losing him too (even if dealing with him always leaves them drained, sometimes monetarily, & agitated 😥)
𝐉𝐚𝐜𝐞 is actually the reason their combat skills focus on defence, they initially attended self-defence classes as a teen to help keep them safe during any of his future “episodes” (they also took a “Nonviolent Crisis Intervention” course during their post-secondary studies)
𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐲 is NOT good at handling acts of aggression/anger directed at them & tends to become startled if people make sudden loud noises (I wonder if 𝐉𝐚𝐜𝐞 has anything to do with their PTSD 🤔)
They've always loved TTRPGs, especially horror-based ones like “𝘒𝘜𝘓𝘛: 𝘋𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘓𝘰𝘴𝘵” (horror-based media helped them deal with the real horror that is their life 👉😎👉)
𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐲 strives to be as professional as possible at all times (sometimes even during off-hours)
Despite being an inherently reserved person, they've learned to mask their introverted nature quite well; they appear quite charming even when they'd rather be anything but (which definitely helped them in their professional life ... outside->😊 inside->😒)
Because of 𝐉𝐚𝐜𝐞'𝐬 “situation”, 𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐲 refuses to take ANY medication (prescription or otherwise) that may have addictive properties (& seeing 𝐒𝐚𝐦 after he missed the funeral, with an empty bottle of pills on the floor, was VERY triggering ... luckily 𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐲 is good at compartmentalizing thoughts/emotions during a crisis)
Their personal space is essential to them, & having it suddenly encroached on (more so by strangers) stresses them out ... they're especially sensitive when it comes to anyone touching their neck (one of 𝐉𝐚𝐜𝐞'𝐬 episodes ended with them being choke-slammed against a wall 🤕)
When 𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐲 is truly comfortable with someone they become much more “touchy”, physical contact is the main way they express affection (R.I.P. to 𝐒𝐚𝐦'𝐬 touch-starved ass)
In contrast to their “reserved nature”, they're bold when it comes to showing interest in people they're attracted to (& while incoming flirtations do fluster them, it's not enough to stop them from quickly returning the favour 😘)

Cucurucho knocks on the door. It waits outside patiently. It flickers its cameras around the hallway behind it.
Jeremy opens the door, looking the same as always, the bags under his eyes a little deeper, his hair a little more mussed, more discarded cups of coffee littering his desk then usual. When he sees the Bureau he sighs and pinched the bridge of his nose in frustration.
"Yeah, yeah. Come in." He muttered.

Dying malls and office buildings corrupted by extradimensional entities? Sounds like this week on the Vintage RPG Podcast, we’re talking about Liminial Horror. A hack of Cairn from Goblin Archives, Liminal Horror takes the barely-there D&D framework of that earlier game and applies to the tropes of investigative horror. It works shockingly well! We also touch on The Mall and The Bureau, two scenario zines. The Mall has intriguing mechanics for introducing stress-related agendas in play that are particularly exciting.

Day 10/30 : Jack Archer (Future) / (Futur)
The future is ours.
Personally, I think that Jack is like fine wine : he got better when he got older not gonna lie xD

I guess the future Jack is looking at his past self, knowing what he has been through to become the man he is today (Travel in Time/2029 Jack Archer)
