Fandom Problem #4477:

What makes people think that everyone simply pick sand chooses what ships they like? It's not really something that's voluntary or consciously selected, it just sort of happens automatically, like a favorite color. If I like a ship no amount of teenagers lecturing why its' problematic is going to make me less interested in it. Likewise trying to convince me to ship something else instead won't magically make me more interested in that ship.

That's why it annoys me when people act like multishipping is some magical long-lost secret that they are blessing you with the knowledge of. Well-meaning as they may be.

What part of "I don't like it" isn't clicking? I'm not waiting to be granted some sort of magical permission to like more than one ship. I. Don't. Like. It. That's all.

And to continue with "liking ships isn't just something you could MAKE happen," yeah, I probably WOULD have a more fun time in fandom if I could enjoy shipping characters in many different ways. Unfortunately, I've been inflicted with a disease called "only liking pairings that are completely obsessed with each other to an unhealthy degree" and it is incurable. So like, yeah I GUESS it's possible they could be attracted to and date others, but I'd enjoy them as a character far far less if that's the case.
