jj tongues his cheek and grins in faux amusement, the guy turns around to walk off like a winner when jj reaches his arm out and taps the guy's shoulder. "hey man you forgot your-" jj grabs one of the milkshakes ready on the counter and throws it in the asshole's face, 'ruining' danny's gelled hair and expensive polo shirt. the diner fills with gasps, 'ooohs' and snickers.

"milkshake." jj finishes his sentence, and laughes through his nose. you stand there eyes wide as danny wipes the melted pink milk off his eyelids. "quit fuckin' around and get outta here" jj shoos the guy away with the motion of his hand as the humiliated boy walks away shouting back loudly "you are so dead maybank!"

"whata piece of shit." jj mumbles and slams his hand on the counter and turns to see the manager shaking his head, disappointed. jj goes into the kitchen leaving you there to process what just happened.

as the restaurant was about to close, you and jj were the only ones left, since you would have been closing together that night. the manager did fire him but somehow managed to stick around without him seeing jj.

you decided to let him do this thing inside the kitchen while you did the final table wipe-downs and setting up everything for tomorrow morning, time after time playing in the background. you hear some concerning noises coming from the kitchen area, knowing only jj was in there makes you stop and wonder why all the banging?, when another loud scary sound can be heard throughout the diner. you run behind the counter and around the corner to see what was making that noise, your eyes land on danny, dead, laying flat on his back on the floor with his face all burnt, bubbling, and bloody. you let out a horrified scream and cover your mouth immediately afterward, stumbling backward a bit and feeling nauseous. 'how did danny even end up back here?' you thought.

you feel your back bump into something, and you let out another spooked yelp, you feel two strong hands spin you around and when you look up, you realize it's only jj.

"jj, danny...he must have- the deep fryer-" you stutter, and he shushes you "i know, i know."

"we have to call the police! i-is he dead? oh god, i'm gonna be sick..." tears start to fall down your cheeks, terrified and confused by how jj isn't freaking out or doing anything about it. you squirm out of his grip and back away from him.

"jj? did you hurt danny? oh my god, did you burn his face off?" you ask with wide eyes, chest heaving.

jj nods but he doesn't look remorseful. you start to burst out in tears, unsure of what to do, you look over at the door and back over at jj who gives you a look of warning. he's all sweaty and dirty, his white shirt stained with grease and blood.

the jukebox continues to play music, where otherwise silence would fill the diner. you decide to make a run for the door, but he beats you to that. jj manages to stand in front of you, clenching his jaw and squinting his eyes.

"i did that for you, i did it to protect you." he spits, looking down at you in disappointment.

"you're scaring me jj" you whine.

"why? i think you're being ungrateful." he whispers, looking down at you.

"you murdered him! jj you'll get in so much trouble, they'll know you did it!"

"no, manager man thought i left already..and i'll get him outta here so" he shrugs.

you whine again, eyes moving towards where danny was lying on the ground. jj snaps his fingers in front of your face to get you to pay attention to him again.

"what you want him? you liked that guy? huh?" he spits out frustratedly. you shake your head no, now too afraid to even speak "what so now im the bad guy? cause i got rid of him for YOU!" he shouts and you flinch, unsure of what to do now.

"you know what, fine, i think i deserve a little thank you don't you think?" he clenches his jaw again and yanks at your top pulling you to the other side of the counter, overlooking danny's corpse.

he bends you over and yanks your skirt down, you begin to cry when you realize what he's going to do. "no, jj no, i'm scared please" you sob too frozen in fear to move.

i don't see it talked about enough how much tsukasa cares about and trusts rui. especially in the scene of that last screenshot- tsukasa has a hard time generally when it comes to confiding in people, typically he deflects or dismisses it with something like "oh it's nothing!" but you don't see that here. because here, he opens up to rui and tells him truthfully how being in the presence of professionals had made him feel insecure, which is something he would have otherwise kept to himself. and rui responds in a way that is reflective of not only the lesson he's learned from the event but also what tsukasa *really* needs to hear (as the perfectionist tsukasa has a tendency to internally belittle himself and feel lesser for not being 'more' like the arcland members were). and there's something about the wording "it's oddly reassuring to hear that from you" that feels so soft and almost kinda vulnerable?? i think it's because he says its reassuring "from you". it could've been so easy to just say 'it was reassuring to hear' but no

basically, tsukasa values rui's opinions, ideas and overall wellbeing so much!! even from day 1 of meeting him!!

Do you have any idea why John may have cut Julian out of his will? I don’t know much about it but what I’ve seen has cut Yoko out to be the guilty party but I don’t really understand that seeing as she had no relation to Julian besides distant ‘stepmother’. I know John’s relationship with Julian was fractured as is usually the case for these type of parental dynamics but based off secondhand accounts John was quite soft and sensitive (and did love his first kid) so it’s hard to wrap one’s head around the idea of John deliberately wounding his child but he was also clearly capable of making brash decisions so I’m left with no idea of what John’s thought process behind this was if there even was any. So now I’m just thinking about how sweet it is that Julian and Sean have apparently managed to sustain a loving relationship despite other factors. But really I can’t conceive why John would’ve done that unless it was a grand gesture of devotion to Yoko and their family or he simply viewed Sean as the wanted (harsh but it is what it is) child and therefore the ‘special’ one. OR John’s will was impromptu and not intended as a final piece? As an aside, what do you think John’s relationship with his sons would’ve been like? Clearly Sean would’ve been his baby boy forever but I think Julian would’ve had his ups and downs culminating with the tentative friendship that usually evolves (in my experience anyway) from stunted child/parental relationships. An aside to the side lol but I I know John was very coddled by Yoko and the people close to him so I’m curious as to whether you think Yoko would’ve continued to be the main delegate on John’s internal connections? And when or if you think J&Y would’ve stuck it through (marriage 💀) together or not? I know people are generally against J&Y but by 1980 they did seem to have solidified their commitment to their partnership despite the cracks if Double Fantasy is anything to go by. Sorry it’s a lot lol

I had a back and forth about John's will about 10 months ago. My thoughts on it haven't evolved much since and aren't too different from yours. I really am not sure what to make of it all. But I have a hard time believing it was a serious, thought-through document.

As for how John would have been with his kids, had he lived, I think I agree with you. It's not like John and Julian never saw each other, though I personally kind of side-eye him for choosing to continue living so far away from his kid, even if I get why he liked New York better. I don't know Julian that well, so I don't want to be too presumptuous, but I suspect that John dying contributed a significant amount to his resentment. Once reciprocated reconciliation is taken away from you as an option, forgiveness must become so much harder.

I tend to think JohnandYoko would probably eventually have broken up, but they weren't super close to it in 1980. It more seems like they were both invested in re-vamping their relationship. I get that a part of that was probably PR, but given that Double Fantasy isn't actually all sunshine and roses, I still think it's credible they were genuine. I talked about this a few days ago actually. Here's some more thoughts: 1 / 2

Whether Yoko would have loosened the "reins" on John is very hard to say. I feel he didn't have enough time to adapt to his newfound self-confidence for me to say :(

OMIGOD! i'm gonna say that all the boys could afford their cars/were passed down by their dads.

rafe would def have a 1984 ferrari testarossa like in miami vice, he just thinks its the coolest thing ever and makes him look rich n hot. (probably seriously looooves miami vice and will mansplain it to you) it is a really sexy car though!!!

jj would probably have a 1970 ford truck passed down by his dad or used by both of them, he's honestly fine with it because "there's pleeenty of room in the back for ya know..." he swings by your house every morning to pick you up, all the neighbors knowing its that maybank kid cause he's always blasting some wild 80s rock like motley crew or something that would definitely be annoying at 8 in the morning.
