terfs when a study shows literally anything positive about trans people/transitioning: 'hm i think this requires some fact-checking. Were those researchers REALLY unbiased? Because if they were biased this doesn't count and if they weren't knowingly biased they probably were unconsciously biased, woke media affects so much these days. Have there been any other studies on this? Because if there haven't been this could be an outlier and if there have been and they all agree that's a bit odd, why aren't there any outliers, and if there have been and any disagree we really won't know the truth until we very thoroughly analyze them all, will we? Were there enough subjects for a good sample size? Did every single subject involved stay involved through the whole study because if they didn't we should be sure nothing shady was going on resulting in people dropping out. Are we 110% sure all the subjects were fully honest and at no point were embarrassed or afraid to admit they didn't love transitioning to the people in charge of their transition? Are we 110% sure none of the subjects were manipulated into thinking they were happy with their transition? In fact we should double-check what they think with their parents, because if the subjects and their parents disagree it's probably because they've been manipulated but their cis parents have not and are very unbiased. How many autistic subjects were there because if there weren't enough then this doesn't really study the overlap between autistic and trans and if there were too many then we just don't know enough about what causes that overlap to be sure this study really explains being trans and isn't just about being autistic. How many AFAB subjects were there because if there weren't enough this is just another example of prioritizing AMAB people and ignoring the different struggles of girls and women and if there were too many how do we know sexism didn't affect the results. Was the study double-blinded? We all know double-blinded is the most reliable so if this one wasn't that's a point against it even if the thesis literally physically could not be double-blinded. Look i'm not being transphobic, i want what's best for trans people! Really! But as a person who is not trans and therefore objective in a way they cannot possibly be, i just think we should only take into account Good Science here. You want to be following science and not being manipulated or experimented upon by something unscientific, right?'
terfs when they see a study of 45 subjects so old it predates modern criteria for gender dysphoria and basically uses 'idk her parents think she's too butch', run by a guy who practiced conversion therapy, 'confirmed' by a guy who treated the significant portion of subjects who didn't follow up as all desisting, definitely in the category of 'physically cannot double-blind this', completely contradicted by multiple other studies done on actual transgender subjects, but can be kinda cited as evidence against transitioning if you ignore everything else about it: 'oOOH SEE THIS IS WHAT WE'RE TALKIN BOUT. SCIENCE. Just good ol' unbiased thorough analysis. I see absolutely no reason to dig any deeper on this and if you think it's wrong you're the one being unscientific. It's really a shame you've been so thoroughly brainwashed by the trans agenda and can't even accept science when you see it. Maybe now that someone has finally uncovered this long-lost study from 1985, we can make some actual progress on the whole trans problem.'
#science#transphobia#cass review#less 'cass review' generally more 'zucker specifically' because this same problem exists outside cass#have lost count of the number of times i've seen 'well THAT study may have said most trans kids persist but it MUST be wrong'#'there's another study says the exact opposite. that one's right. obviously.'#but cass is why i'm annoyed by it now#normally i don't have a problem with critical observations and questions. yeah check your science! that's good!#there have been some bullshit studies and some bullshit interpretations of good studies! scientific literacy is important!#and normally also am willing to pretend the people pulling reaction 1 on some studies and reaction 2 on others are. not the same group.#but now there's a ton of cass supporters tryna say 'oh the cass review didn't reject or downplay anything for being pro-trans!'#'some studies just weren't given much weight for being poor evidence! not our fault those were all studies with results trans people like!'#…….………….aight explain why zucker's findings are used for the 'percentage of trans kids who don't stay trans' stat instead of anyone else's.#would've been more scientifically accurate to say 'yeah we just don't know.'#'studies have been done but none of them fit our crack criteria sooooo *shrug*'#like COME ON at least PRETEND you're genuinely checking scientific correctness and not looking for excuses to weed out undesirable results#am also mad about zucker in particular because his is possibly the most famous bullshit study#quite bluntly if you're doing trans research and think 'yeah this one seems reasonable' you. are maybe not well-informed enough for the job#there's just no way you genuinely look at the research with an eye toward accurate science regardless of personal bias#and walk away thinking 'hm that zucker fellow seems reasonable. competent scientists will respect that citation.'#that's one or two steps above doing a review of vaccine science and seriously citing wakefield's mmr-causes-autism study#it doesn't matter what the rest of your review says people are gonna have OPINIONS on that bit#and outside anti-vaxxers most of those opinions will be 'are you actually the most qualified for this because ummmm.'#people who agree with everything else will still think someone more competent could've done a much better job#people who disagree with everything else will point to that as proof you don't know shit and why should we listen to you#anyway i'd love a hugeass trans science review with actual fucking standards hmu if you know of one cause this ain't it#……does tumblr still put a limit on how many tags you can include guess me and my tag essay are about to find out.

The next day Bucky didn’t want to leave you. He was in overprotective mode since the Isaac thing yesterday and you weren’t going to lie and say you didn’t like it. But you also knew he had things to do.
So, after having breakfast in bed with him and getting halfway through a film you sit up from his chest, “I know you can’t afford to take a day off Buck”.
He ignores you. But you carry on, “I love the fact that you’re so willing to sacrifice a busy day for me, but honestly Bucky, I’m feeling better since yesterday”.
He looks at you then, processing your words and studying your face. He starts to shake his head, so you turn the TV off. He looks at you mock offended which makes you smile.
You kiss your way up his chest until you reach his lips briefly, “I know you have work to do and I know your phone hasn’t stopped blowing up since breakfast. Go and do whatever you have to. I was thinking of training a little and maybe even baking…”.
He gives you a cheeky smile, “hmm, well, I’ll go if you do me two favours”.
You nod, “anything”.
He smiles, “make me some of those cupcakes and let me take you out to dinner tonight”.
You feel a massive smile spread across your face, “you have yourself a deal”.
The day went by quickly. You baked cupcakes to share with most of the house. That took most of the day and then you started getting ready for dinner with Bucky. Bucky said that he was going to take you somewhere fancy.
You were nervous since you hadn’t gone to a restaurant in years and even then, you never went anywhere too fancy. But you were more excited than anything because no matter what, you were with Bucky.
You were glad that you bought more dresses after realising that you might need to go to gatherings more often. You settled on a dark green dress, so dark that it looked black until it came to the light.
You put your hair up and put light make-up on. You put your shoes on and made your way down the stairs. As you get to the end you can hear Bucky’s office door open and a few seconds later he appears, as handsome as ever.
He holds his arm out, “our chariot awaits milady”.
You take his arm with a small laugh, “you’re such a dork”.
He smiles down at you, “and you’re a beautiful woman with a beautiful laugh”.
You blush as you look away and you can feel him chuckle softly. He guides you out the house and towards the car. He opens the passenger side for you and closes it after you. He then proceeds to open the driver’s side and hop in.
As he starts driving you look over to him, “so, how was your day? How did it go?”.
He shakes his head, “nope. No work talk tonight. It’s just you and me and normal conversation”.
You tilt your head with a smile, “I’m not sure if you noticed Buck, but we’re anything but normal”.
He glances at you with a wicked grin and wide eyes, “I know, isn’t it great?”.
He laughs as he looks back at the road and you join him in his good spirit, “actually yes, for the first time in my life its great not to be normal”.
He places his hand on your thigh and squeezes it gently. The car ride is easy, comfortable and conversation is normal. You talk about Steve’s twins and their birthday coming up. You talk about Peggy and what she’s going to name the baby.
After a conversation about present ideas, Bucky announces that you’ll be arriving at the restaurant soon. You smile as you lean back in the car and close your eyes for a few minutes.
That’s when you hear Bucky clear his throat like he does when he’s going all serious, “can I ask you something?”.
You open your eyes with a frown and a look of concern, “you can ask me anything, although your tone makes me nervous”. You laugh anxiously.
He shakes his head like there’s nothing to worry about, “it’s just, with our conversation about Peggy and the kids, it just got me thinking. I wanted to know what your take on kids was?”.
You frown not quite understanding what he meant. He glances at you and clarifies, “in terms of whether you want them or not?”.
You swallow and think about it for a second, “do you want kids?”.
He shakes his head with a small smirk, “I asked you first”.
You laugh and think again before answering, “its funny because when I was homeless I gave up on the idea of having any type of normal life, kids included…but the more time I spend with you and the more time I spend with the twins the more I thought about it. So, to answer your question, yes, I would want kids, but I don’t feel ready to have them yet”.
You watch his reaction closely. It takes a few seconds, but you slowly start to see him smile. You lean to get a better look at his face and say, “what? Why are you smiling?”.
He doesn’t look at you, his eyes fixed on the road, “we’re at the restaurant”.
You feel the car slowing down, but you don’t let it go, “no, that’s not why you’re smiling. What is it Buck?”.
His smile grows slightly bigger as you keep pressing him. He parks the car and you ask again. When he switches the engine off, his body half turns to face you, “I’m just glad that we’re on the same page”.
You look at him surprised, “I’m not gonna lie, I’m surprised that you want kids considering your profession”.
He nods, “the original plan was to not have kids for that very reason. They’re a weakness and something else to be used against you. The original plan didn’t involve falling in love either. Then you came barging into my life demanding to see me and you saved my life. I tried to stay away from you, I tried not to feel anything, but you’re a stubborn woman”. You both chuckle until he gets serious again, “when we first started our relationship I said to myself that I wouldn’t have kids with you either. That that was the one plan I would stick to, but the moment I saw you with Sarah and Joseph I knew it was something I wanted, only with you. But I also agree that I’m not ready for kids just yet”.
You nod as you look down at your hands blushing at his words for the second time already that evening. He lightens the mood with, “I’m not quite ready to share you just yet Doll”.
You giggle as you look back up at him. You can see him relishing in being able to make you laugh as he smiles, crinkles forming around his eyes.
After your little moment in the car, Bucky hops out and comes around to help you out the car. He offers his arm again and you take it.
You could tell it was an expensive place just by being in the foyer, but when your waiter took you into the dining area you glance at Bucky in question of just how expensive.
It was a cool looking room but with warm lighting. White and silver seemed to be the theme with hints of blue. There were round tables and square tables. The place seemed full and waiters and waitresses were rushing around.
However, the most noticeable feature of the room was the floor to ceiling side of a wall. It was glass that was filled with water and amazing aquatic life. It was beautiful.
Your awe only grew as the waiter gave you a square table right next to the glass. Bucky pulled your chair out and pushed it in before sitting down himself.
You were on either side of a corner of the table and you heard him tell the waiter what drinks you wanted, but you couldn’t focus on specifically what he ordered as you stared at the fish.
You started to reach your hand out to touch the glass, but then stop yourself. You look back at Bucky, “I probably shouldn’t touch the glass, should I?”.
Bucky frowns, “why not?”.
You look at him like its obvious, “well, for starters no one else is doing it so I would look even more like I don’t belong. Plus, I bet its all expensive and I wouldn’t want to leave a mark or have anyone be mad or I don’t know”.
He smiles, “you’re cute when you ramble”.
You give him a serious look, but you couldn’t stop your smile, “I’m being serious Buck”.
He holds his hand up in surrender, “okay. Well, the way I see it, fuck what everyone else thinks and our house costs more than this place so I think we’ll be fine if you break something”. He notices that you still don’t look convinced, “what is it?”.
You look back at the fish and shrug, “that’s your money though Buck. I would feel awful if I broke something and you had to pay-“.
He cuts you off firmly, but gently, “Y/N, listen to me, what’s mine is yours, always. Everything that I have is also yours. You need to stop thinking of things as just mine. The money that’s there is ours. The house is our home. The people that are there are our family, okay?”.
You nod with a smile as he brings your hand up to his lips and kisses your knuckles. He lets your hand go, “now go play with the fish”.
You shake your head, “you say that like I’m five”.
“well, if the shoe fits…”, Bucky shrugs and then smirks at you. You slap his arm discretely and he chuckles, “okay, okay. I’m sorry, I guess you’re more like ten”.
You kick him under the table and he laughs so hard that the table not far from you starts to give you looks, “that table is looking at us”.
Bucky keeps laughing as he rubs his shin, “I don’t give a fuck”.
Bucky soon calms down when the waiter comes with drinks and menus. When you open the menu you nearly have a heart attack. You look up at Bucky about to say something when he holds up his hand and talks to you, his eyes never leaving his menu, “I’m starting to get offended that you think I can’t afford things Doll”.
You shake your head, “its not that I don’t think you can afford them-“.
He cuts you off, “okay, great, so don’t worry about it Doll. Order whatever you want and just enjoy it”. He looks at you then seriously. You stare at him for a few seconds before nodding and looking back down at the menu.
Once you place your orders, you and Bucky don’t stop talking. You’re true to his word as the conversations are normal and you find that you’re both laughing more than you ever had in your lives.
The evening went by so quick you didn’t notice time had slipped through your fingers until you were sharing dessert with Bucky. That was when you remembered what Ray had told you in the shop the other day.
You look over to Bucky, “you know I don’t know much about your past”.
He looks up at you from his spoon, “I don’t really know much about yours either”.
You smile, “you know more about mine than I do about yours. I’m sorry, I don’t want to force you to talk about it or anything its just I remember Ray telling me that you used to be homeless and it made me realise that I don’t know much about your past”.
Bucky puts the spoon down and takes a sip of water, “you don’t have to apologise for asking, I knew you would eventually, just like I want to know things about you. I won’t tell you it all, but long story short is that me and Steve went into the military together. One day I lost my arm in active duty and got shipped home. Steve still had to serve as I recovered and once I did they sent me on my way. I couldn’t adjust to life as a citizen and as a disabled person, so I ended up on the streets”.
You felt terrible for even asking about it now, “I’m sorry Buck, I didn’t mean-“.
He grabs your hand, “don’t. It’s okay, you didn’t know and besides, it turned out alright didn’t it?”. He gives you a pointed look and you lean over to kiss his cheek.
You both go back to dessert and lighter topics. As you finish the dessert Bucky looks at you and laughs. You scowl at him and he laughs harder until he licks his thumb and rubs at a stain in the corner of your mouth.
You keep your eyes on him as you turn your head slightly and catch his thumb in your mouth. You lick the pad with your tongue before giving a little suck. You watch his eyes darken when you release his thumb and you thought he might start something there and then until the waiter came over.
Before the waiter could even say anything, Bucky’s voice came out gruff, “just bring us the bill please”, his eyes never leaving yours.
The waiter rushes off as you continue staring at each other. You give him a smirk as you let your foot wander up his leg. You couldn’t do much more as the waiter comes back with the bill.
Bucky doesn’t let you see the total as he pulls out a wad of cash from inside his suit, also handing the waiter a very generous tip. Bucky just about acknowledges the waiters thank you before he was getting up and leading you out of the restaurant.
You’re both giggling when you exit and make your way to the car. Bucky gives you a playful slap on your ass and you run in front of him so that he doesn’t do it again. When you get to the car Bucky twists you.
He pushes your back up against the car as he kisses you deeply. As your tongues entwine you forget the cold night, his kiss starting a fire in your stomach and between your legs.
You push him back before your knees become too weak and you open the rear door of the car. You push Bucky inside so that he’s sitting in the back normally. You give a quick glance around before hiking your dress up your thighs and climbing in on top of him.
As soon as you straddle him and close the door his lips are on you again, travelling from your neck and up to your lips. You take a moment to thank the tinted windows as you moan into Bucky’s mouth.
You grind down over Bucky’s already hard cock and his growl fills the car. He stops you after a few minutes, “stop teasing, I need to be inside you”. His words flip your stomach and pools at your pussy as you lift up slightly in order for Bucky to undo his trousers.
When he unleashes his cock, it springs to attention and you waste no time in pulling your panties to one side and sliding down. You moan together, never taking your eyes off each other. You roll your hips slow and hard.
Bucky manages to get your breasts free and he rolls one nipple between his metal fingers and takes the other between his lips. Your hands tangle in his hair as he sucks the nipple hard. He bites down gently and you both moan loudly as a bolt of pleasure causes your pussy to squeeze his cock.
He kisses his way up from your breasts to your neck. He sucks softly before murmuring, “you’re so fucking beautiful Baby-Doll”. His metal hand slips between the two of your and you gasp when you feel his finger connect with your clit.
He circles it as you roll your hips and you feel the pleasure start to build as you whisper, “James…I need more, give me more James”.
He growls against your skin, more animal than human, as he applies more pressure to your clit. You lose rhythm as he brings you closer and closer to the edge of release. But before you can fall over the edge he stops with a smirk.
You’re panting now, your legs starting to shake with the pleasure. Bucky takes charge now, lifting you up, your pussy barely on his cock as he starts to thrust up into you.
He starts slow and increases until he’s thrusting up hard and fast. Moans and groans fall from your lips like drool as they mix with his own. You feel yourself on the edge again and as a result you squeeze Bucky’s cock harder. Its not long before you feel Bucky start to spurt hot cum into you, a violent thrust accompanied with each spurt.
The feeling of him cumming in you tipped you over the edge of pleasure as you throw your head back. You lean into Bucky as you come down from your high. You rest your head on his shoulder as you both catch your breath. Bucky nuzzles your neck and places kisses over the hickey he gave you as he says, “I should take you out to dinner more often”. You laugh together in the backseat of the car. A perfect end to a perfect night.

(Don’t) Like You A Latte
Tumblr media
Kim Seungmin (Skz) x Fem!Reader (ft. annoying brother!Hyunjin)
Word Count: 8,3K
Genre: Cafe AU with a hint of a college AU; fluff
SYNOPSIS: When your brother makes an irresistible offer, you have no choice but to make friends with your work nemesis.
Tumblr media
[DAY 0]
There are many different relationship types.
There’s love, where two people care so deeply for each other that they’re willing to sacrifice anything for the other. They say love is the strongest power of all, which might be true in most cases.
There’s friendship. Two or more people having a connection that makes them want nothing more than for their friend to succeed in whatever they’re doing. This relationship also comes with sacrifices but also inside jokes, pranks and dumb decisions.
Then there are feuds - fueled by hatred and spite. This is the ultimate relationship form - many loves and friendships see this as their final form. Sad, but true.
And then there’s you and Seungmin. Not enemies, not friends, and definitely not lovers.
Many of your mutual friends have attempted to describe the relationship the two of you share. Most of them do so just for the fun of it. It has become a game of sorts, even. Each description is different, each person sees it differently. All they can agree on is that there is definitely hatred involved.
You liked to think of Seungmin as a protective person of dislike. For three reasons: one, the two of you stand up for one another, two, you strongly dislike him, three, the two of you are definitely not friends.
“Hey, fruit-head!” you shouted across the café. “I said a two-shot espresso, not a vanilla latte!”
Seungmin barely batted an eye as he replied, “I’m sorry. I must have not heard you over that loud attitude of yours.”
You glared at him, but he didn’t even need that as he began making the proper drink. Sometimes, you wondered where his head was and other times you were sure he was just mixing up orders to get a reaction out of you. Well, congratulations to him, because it definitely worked out that way most of the time.
“I swear on the mother of all coffee beans, if you mix up the order again,” you cursed under your breath but didn’t finish the sentence when you realized your brother Hyunjin had taken decided to stand next to you behind the counter. You offered him a tight-lipped smile, probably looking like a meme in the process because he let out an amused snort.
As you were about to say something, Seungmin hummed and placed the fresh coffee on the desk between the two of you. “Two-shot espresso at just the right temperature. Here you go, pumpkin-head.”
Hyunjin’s brows furrowed. “Do you two ever communicate like normal people?”
“We just did,” you half-joked and carried the coffee over to the grumpy-looking exhausted mother of five that was seated in the farthest corner of the cafe.
Your brother waited for you to return to the counter before declaring, “Would it be too much if I asked the two of you to at least act civil in front of the customers?”
“Why?” Seungmin blinked almost innocently. “We’re doing quite alright.” He turned to wink at you and asked cheekily, “Are we not, my love?”
“Go die in a ditch.”
“See?” Hyunjin was flabbergasted, waving hands around to gesture wildly at the two of you. “This is exactly what I’m talking about. You’ll scare away the customers if you keep this up!”
“Quite the opposite, actually,” Jisung’s voice sounded from the open kitchen. “I’ve heard some customers only come here to get coffee and watch your sister bicker with our handsome barista.”
You could’ve sworn Hyunjin was about to explode as he yelled out, “None of your business, Han! Shouldn’t you be doing the dishes?? Where are the customers supposed to eat from??”
“Who’s scaring all the customers now?” you could vaguely hear Jisung mumble as the dishwasher roared to life.
Both you and Seungmin sighed out in relief as Hyunjin marched into the kitchen. Sure, Jisung was about to get the worst lecture of his life, but did you really care? No, and neither did Seungmin, apparently.
He took a cup from under the counter and got to work on yet another cup of coffee. Feeling your curious gaze on his head, he turned to you and smiled, “I’m trying out an experimental brew I found online last night. You want a try?”
“I would, but I feel like the chances of you poisoning me are too high,” you shrugged, earning a scoff and a mumble along the lines of ‘I wasn’t going to but since you asked’ from the barista.
Tumblr media
[DAY 1]
“We’re paired up again?” you cried out as your eyes met Seungmin’s in front of the cafe 0325. He was wearing a similar half-pained, half-annoyed look on his face.
He sighed, “Sometimes I think I’m cursed.”
“Did you just quote “Coco”?” you raised an eyebrow before chuckling and stepping into the cafe. The barista followed soon after you with a loud cry of defeat and reached out his hand to turn on the lights.
The light revealed a figure. You jumped back, straight into Seungmin’s arms. If the barista had any complaints about it, he didn’t voice them.
His eyes were wide with shock but as the realization hit him, he relaxed and let his hand rub up and down your shoulders in a subconscious attempt to calm you down as well.
It took you a moment to realize who exactly the figure was, with his back turned to you as he sat comfortably in one of the chairs. Dressed in a white button-up and his hair styled professionally, you had never seen your brother from the back like this. You resisted the urge to throw a chair at him for scaring you like this.
“Hwang Hyunjin,” Seungmin finally broke the silence loudly. “That’s a whole new level of being a terrible manager.”
“Shut up. You’re only here because I hired you,” Hyunjin retorted while pushing himself to his feet. He stood in front of you, looking almost authoritative. Almost, because his zipper was open.
The shock in your body was quickly replaced with amusement and second-hand embarrassment as you watched him. By the sound of it, Seungmin was also struggling to not giggle at your brother’s state.
Hyunjin let out a frustrated sigh. “Guys, could you take me seriously, please? I said this is an intervention.”
To be honest, you hadn’t even realized he had spoken at first.
“We’d probably have slightly less trouble taking you seriously if you closed your zipper,” Seungmin told him through a burst of laughter. Instinctively you turned to look at him and you couldn’t help but swoon at the way his eyes shone as he laughed.
Your brother’s eyes widened, he glanced down and cursed under his breath. He turned away from you to close the zipper and when he turned back to you, his face and ears were redder than you had seen in a while.
“So, exactly what are you intervening?” you finally asked him, once all giggles had left your body.
Hyunjin offered you a quick glare before gesturing for the both of you to sit down. He sat down opposite of you, making sure to cross his leg over his knee for extra effect. As you placed your bag between you and Seungmin, he began to speak, “The two of you bicker a lot, you know that, yes?”
“It’s sort of the essence of our relationship,” Seungmin didn’t even blink.
“Relationship?” Hyunjin mumbled with a frown. “You two are not in a relationship, right? Because if you are…”
“Mother of beans! We’re not dating, Hyunjin,” you cried out. “Relationship as in how two people get along.”
“Right, right,” Hyunjin’s frown eased. He cleared his throat and leaned back in his chair as you and Seungmin exchanged concerned looks. “In short: I need the two of you to become friends.”
You raised an eyebrow, leaning towards him, “And what’s in it for us?”
“A new friend? A friendlier work environment?” Hyunjin was incredulous, eyes wide and mouth hanging open as you and your (least) favourite barista blinked at him. After a minute, he finally realized that the two of you weren’t willing to do this for free.
He let out a loud sigh, that sounded more like a groan, “Fine. A 5% raise.”
“That’s kinda low,” Seungmin pretended to think about, scrunching up his nose and rubbing circles on his chin.
You agreed with him and declared, “That’s like what? 300 won more per hour?”
At that Seungmin pulled out his phone, opened the calculator app and after a few seconds snorted, “380 won. What a raise.”
Hyunjin was lost. He looked completely hopeless.
But he was Hwang Hyunjin. He gathered himself and declared, “Fine. A 5% raise AND a wish granted by me.”
This made your ears perk up as well as Seungmin’s. The two of you shared a look before leaning forward.
“When you say a wish…”
“Any wish that I am capable of granting you. A wish for each of you.”
“Again, when you say wish…?” Seungmin smiled devilishly.
Hyunjin snorted and swung back with his chair slightly, “Let’s say, I won’t buy you an apartment or go on a space expedition so you wouldn’t have to see me again, but I could pay your rent for a few months or sneak in an extra paid vacation to your schedule.”
“And when would we have to tell you this wish?” you asked with a suspicious look in your eyes. You knew your brother - there was always a ‘but’ somewhere; a hidden clause in every contract. This couldn’t have been different.
“If the two of you manage to get along for a whole month, you can tell me your wish and your next month’s hourly salary will immediately be raised 5%,” Hyunjin proposed, looking more confident than he actually felt.
“Special conditions?” Seungmin questioned, leaning back and looking just as confident as your brother.
Hyunjin raised an eyebrow at that. “What are you? A lawyer or something?”
“I’m a law student, idiot,” the barista laughed at him. “I study this at school.”
“Right, right,” your brother sighed. “Okay, the conditions are simple.
“Condition 1: you have to get along for a whole month. No fights, no bickering. You get 3 chances per week. If I have to loudly reprimand you more than three times a week, you automatically fail and can keep on dreaming about that raise. Heck, I might even raise Jisung’s or Woojin’s pay instead.
“Condition 2: the two of you are a team. One of you fails, so does the other. So three warning per the two of you. You’d better be really careful.”
“That seems kind of unfair,” you decided. “How am I supposed to keep Seungmin from messing up then?”
Hyunjin smirked, “That’s for you to figure out. I feel like that raise and wish should be enough motivation for you to do so, little one.”
You scoffed before reaching out your hand to shake his, indicating the deal was successful. After a moment of hesitation, Seungmin followed suit. Now the two of you would have to start getting along for once in your life.
The rest of the day went by pretty well. Seungmin did his best to not mix up orders and you did your best not to yell at him when he did something dumb.
It didn’t always work out very well, though.
You slammed a cup of hot coffee down on the counter, “Listen here, you little-”
As you were about to curse at him, you caught sight of Hyunjin leaning against the kitchen wall and shaking his head in disappointment, hands itching to reach for the notepad he had decided to use to track down your offences.
You bit back a groan and forced yourself to smile, “Listen here, my dear angel,” Seungmin raised an eyebrow at you, “could stop messing up, please? Mrs Yang seems rather upset with the lack of peppermint in her peppermint latte.”
“Ahh,” Seungmin slapped his forehead. “I knew I forgot something.”
It took all of your self-control to not attack him. How long would it take for him to finally start remembering to add peppermint to peppermint lattes? No one knew.
“It’s alright,” you told him through clenched teeth. “We all make mistakes.”
You looked back to your brother who gave you a bright smile and a thumbs up. Suddenly the urge to slap him rather than Seungmin became more prominent.
“I’m going to kill him, once this is over,” you mumbled while leaning towards Seungmin so your brother wouldn’t hear you say that.
The barista snorted out a laugh and faced you with a bright smile, “You’ll have to get in line for that. I want to throw the first punch.”
You felt a smirk appear on your face, realizing that Seungmin had indeed just agreed with you. Maybe this month wouldn’t be so terrible after all.

[DAY 5]
“Have you had lunch yet?” Seungmin’s voice scared you out of your daydream about a wonderful vacation in the Bahamas, paid for by your dear brother.
Slowly, you looked up at him and blinked. “No. Why?”
“Let’s go together,” he told you like it was no big deal. But it was a big deal. You could barely stand working with him as it is, so how were you supposed to survive lunch with him?
“Are you serious right now?” you asked him incredulously, almost choking on your breath as he nodded thoughtfully.
He spoke, “I think we should try and get to know each other outside of work. I mean, we both want to succeed in this ‘be nice to each other’ thing, right?”
“I suppose you do have a point.” It physically pained you to admit it.
Seeing the hesitation in your eyes, Seungmin leaned forward and whispered, “Also, if we both go on our lunch break together, Hyunjin will be forced to take over both of your jobs and I really want revenge for this whole thing.”
This time you agreed more enthusiastically and within half an hour, you threw your uniform apron into your locker and waved to your brother. “Seungmin and I are going for lunch. Don’t wait up!”
Horror filled Hyunjin’s eyes as he sat up at his office desk, “Wait. Both of you? But who will man the cafe?”
“That’s your problem, bro,” Seungmin laughed joyfully, standing next to you. “There’s no clause in our contract that says we can’t take a lunch break at the same time as our partner. You can’t argue with us on that. And besides,” he wrapped an arm around your shoulders and leant his head against yours, “didn’t you say you wanted us to get along?”
Hyunjin let out a sound. Something between a cry of despair and a groan of annoyance, with a hint of self-pity, you decided. Neither of you paid him any attention though, linking arms and discussing where to eat.
Seungmin hummed in thought as the two of you walked to the bus stop. “I heard the new pizza place is pretty good.”
“The place where Changbin works?” you wondered. “Lee’s Pizza Place?”
“I thought Changbin worked in the Starbucks down the street?” your partner scratched his head in thought, looking almost lost as you came to a stop in front of the bus schedules.
You chuckled, “He was fired for intentionally misspelling people’s names when they didn’t tip him and writing pick-up lines on the cups of pretty female customers.”
“Did he actually ever get a girl to call him back?”
“Once,” you said. “A girl’s grandmother called him to thank him for the excellent service.”
Seungmin let out a loud laugh. “Well, I think we’re definitely paying a visit to Lee’s Pizza Place.”
“Going to annoy Changbin?”
“No, but the place is on the other side of town and I feel like making Hyunjin’s day especially miserable.”
“Well, in that case,” you smiled, “Lead the way, Seungmin.”
The bus ride to the pizza place was about half an hour. It was not the longest ride, but still long enough to make your legs itch with anticipation. In all honesty, it just made your appetite better.
“I think I’ll take a Hawaiian pizza,” Seungmin pondered out loud, a pout adorning his lips as he read the menu. “Or maybe…” He trailed off before scoffing, “I’d take Lee’s special, but it has pineapple on it.”
You suddenly remembered why you usually avoided going to lunch with Seungmin - he was a picky eater.
“Just make a decision, pumpkin-head!”
He glared at you. “What happened to being nice to each other?”
“Hyunjin’s not here. What he doesn’t see, didn’t happen,” you shrugged and ordered a pizza from Changbin who didn’t seem particularly happy about seeing the two of you at his workplace.
“You know what?” Seungmin finally decided just as you finished paying for your own order. “I’ll take Lee’s special but no pineapple, please.”
Changbin sighed and nodded obediently. He spoke lowly, “Here or to-go?”
“Here, obviously,” Seungmin blinked before chuckling. “You’re not very enthusiastic about this job, are you?”
“And exactly how enthusiastic are you about your barista career?” Changbin retorted with a tight-lipped smile and shake of his head.
You had to physically drag Seungmin away from the counter as he attempted to continue bickering with his old friend. Had you know you’d have to resort to such measures, you wouldn’t have agreed to go to lunch with him.
“I hope the pizza is better than Changbin’s service,” Seungmin grumbled when the two of you finally agreed on a table to sit. “I don’t think he’s going to last very long here.”
“I don’t know. He seems to be more interested in this job than the both of us are about ours,” you had to disagree. After all, Changbin’s eyes were shining as he greeted customers and took their orders, suggesting pizza toppings and drinks to go with. You don’t recall ever having even half the sparkle in your eyes when you served people and Seungmin was a whole new level of an unenthusiastic barista.
“Well, he’s not working for your brother so maybe that’s why,” Seungmin chuckled darkly. He glanced over at Changbin and hummed in thought before turning back to you. “Yeah, he definitely wouldn’t be even half as hard-working if he was working in 0325.”
You nodded along. “Hyunjin’s a bit of a jerk.”
“Is he any good as a brother though?” Seungmin was genuinely curious. “Does he like allow you to use the wifi with no limits or do your laundry sometimes or anything like that?”
“You’re kidding right?” You scoffed and raised an eyebrow. “The nicest thing he’s actually done for me was getting me this job.”
“So, not a good brother?”
You shrugged. “Sometimes he’s nice and protective, but most of the time he’s a typical brother who pushes my buttons and makes fun of me at every possibility.”
“Sounds like him. You know, he once made me clean up the whole cafe after my shift ended because his new girlfriend was coming to breakfast,” Seungmin told you just as Changbin brought over your pizzas.
The short server smiled and spoke, “Please enjoy your meal. If you need anything, you know where to find me.”
“I aspire to be as great as a server as you are,” you told him genuinely, causing Seungmin to laugh opposite of you. “Keep up the great work.”
Changbin grinned, saluted you and then rushed back to the counter to greet a new customer. You and Seungmin were left alone once again, this time with your beautiful round pizzas.
“You’re ridiculously nice to people sometimes,” Seungmin declared all of a sudden, causing you to look up from the mouth-watering pizza in front of you.
You shrugged and took a sip of your drink. “It costs nothing to be nice to people sometimes.”
“Unless it’s me?”
“Unless it’s you,” you agreed with a slight chuckle. “You’re insufferable.”
“Same goes to you,” Seungmin told you with a bright smile. He seemed thoughtful for a moment before declaring, “I still like you more than Hyunjin though.”
You raised an eyebrow in surprise but said no more, deciding to just enjoy your pizza.

[DAY 9]
Hyunjin’s eyes were focused on you, like a lion staring down its prey. He was sure something had happened the day before.
“Will you stop glaring at them like that?” Woojin, the chef of cafe 0325, sounded annoyed at him. “Did you two fight again?”
“We didn’t,” Hyunjin said, eyes still locked on your figure as you leaned against the counter and laughed at one of Seungmin’s jokes. Genuinely laughed. Hyunjin didn’t like that. He turned to Woojin just slightly, “But (Y/n) hasn’t been fighting with Seungmin either. That means they’re plotting against me.”
Woojin blinked. Then blinked again. After a final, third blink, the chef grabbed a spatula and hit Hyunjin upside the head. He spoke, “You should really see a therapist.”
“I was perfectly healthy until you hit my head!” Hyunjin protested, rubbing the painful spot and groaning in pain. “Damn, you’re definitely stronger than (Y/n).”
As expected, Woojin wasn’t amused. He deadpanned, “You told (Y/n) and Seungmin to get along just a week ago and now you’re worried because they’re actually getting along? Are you sure that you don’t need to go and see a therapist? My friend Chan could recommend a few really helpful ones.”
“Shut up.” Hyunjin sighed and leaned back against the wall. “They’re definitely plotting against me.”
Realizing there’s nothing he could do about this, Woojin shook his head and walked away. Hyunjin would just need to figure out his life himself.
Who was he to try and slam his brain back into place, after all?
[DAY 12]
“How did you not see me?” you practically screeched at Hyunjin as he ushered your coffee-covered self to the locker-room. “I had been in the same spot for the past 10 minutes!”
“You went well together with the background,” Hyunjin mumbled, going through an older locker to see if he could find a clean uniform blouse for you to wear. “Maybe we should get brighter coloured uniforms for the cafe.”
Your mouth fell agape. “Our uniforms are bright red, Hyunjin.”
“Then maybe we should change the interior of the cafe,” he shrugged, slamming the locker shut and turning to the one next to it. He had trouble with the lock for a short moment before he let out a victorious yelp and opened the door.
“The wallpaper’s white.” You crossed your arms. “I’m starting to think you walked into me on purpose.”
“Don’t be ridiculous,” he scoffed even though his heartbeat raced in fear that he had been caught in his own lie. “Why would I willingly physically touch you?”
“Do you have an extra blouse for me to change into or not, Hyunjin?” you asked him, starting to get annoyed with you.
He sighed in defeat and threw a sweatshirt at you. “That’s Seungmin’s company hoodie. Don’t dirty it. He likes his clothes coffee free.”
“Our cafe has a hoodie??” you asked in surprise, motioning for him to turn around so you could change your shirt. “And you’re only telling me this now?”
“We don’t have actual hoodies anymore. The guy above me stopped ordering them after the girl before you quit and burned hers,” Hyunjin shrugged. “Seungmin still has his though and he usually keeps it in his locker, in case of colder days or something. I don’t know.”
“Well, glorious day,” you mumbled as you rolled up the sleeves of the red hoodie. “It fits.”
“Perfect,” Hyunjin beamed and grabbed your arm. “Back to work we go!”
You scoffed at that but followed him nevertheless.
“Oh, hey, Seungmin!” Hyunjin suddenly spoke as the two of you made it back to the cafe. “I gave (Y/n) your company hoodie. I hope you don’t mind.”
“Of course not,” Seungmin blinked but you could see his teeth were just a bit gritted. “It’s just a hoodie. I haven’t worn it in months.”
“Thank you for letting me borrow it,” you smiled at him.
As he was about to reply, you met eyes with a needy-looking customer and rushed over to help her. Seungmin sighed before the kind look in his eyes was replaced with a dangerous one instead. He glared at Hyunjin and growled, “What’s your play here?”
“What do you mean?” Hyunjin smirked slightly before putting on an innocent look. “My employee got covered in coffee because of my clumsiness. I felt it was only fair I found some replacement clothes to help.”
“And you just so happened to take all of the clothes from the spare locker to the dry cleaner’s last night, huh?” Seungmin leaned forward, resembling a cat ready to pounce at a mouse.
Hyunjin definitely felt like he was playing the rodent at that moment. Regardless, he stood his ground. “I have to get them cleaned every once in a while, yes. How was I supposed to know one of my employees was going to get dirty today?”
“Oh, you’re playing that game,” Seungmin rolled his eyes and leaned back. “Fine. See, if I care.”
“I’m just getting started, Minnie,” Hyunjin smirked. “I think you’re getting along with my dear sister way too well for someone who couldn’t stand the sight of her just a week ago. I can’t make this too easy for you.”
As Hyunjin walked away, a smirk still clear on his face, Seungmin felt his heart skip a beat. He should’ve known Hyunjin would make it a challenge. Your brother was out for his own gains. Sure, he probably loved the idea of his employees getting along, but he was definitely too greedy to actually willingly raise their pay and grant both of them a wish.
Seungmin’s heart skipped another beat as he caught sight of you leaning against the counter with a smile.
You spoke, “I need two pumpkin spice lattes for the two lovely hungover girls in the corner and an extra-foamy cappuccino for the elderly lady by the window.”
“Two pumpkin spice lattes and an extra-foamy cappuccino coming right up,” Seungmin stuttered out, his brain working at half its usual speed as he attempted to take in the sight of you in his hoodie. He forced himself out of his daze and got to work on the drinks, leaving you puzzled at the red hue suddenly decorating his ears.

[DAY 13]
“Hyunjin’s been a bit hostile recently, no?” you asked Jisung as he attempted to make a decent coffee drink.
Seungmin had gone on his lunch break an hour ago and Jisung had been volunteered to replace him, mostly because him making coffee was a better option than him constantly dropping dishes.
“Isn’t he always?” Jisung grumbled before handing you a cup full of, what you hoped was, caramel macchiato. “I mean, that’s sort of his whole thing. Being hostile, dramatic, a complete jerk to his employees.”
“You’d better not be talking about me,” Hyunjin’s voice startled the both of you. For once you were glad that you weren’t holding a cup of coffee. Your brother smiled innocently before turning his attention away from a stuttering Jisung and over to you. “(Y/n), could you help me look for something?”
You blinked. “I’m sort of in the middle of delivering a customer her coffee, Hyunjin.”
“It’ll be real quick, I promise. Besides, Jisung can deliver the coffee, right?” He heavily patted the young man’s shoulder as the latter’s eyes threatened to bulge out of his head in panic. “Thank you, Jisung! Now, come on, (Y/n).”
You begrudgingly followed him with a loud sigh. As you walked over to the storage room, you heard Jisung’s shaky voice call over the cafe, “Excuse me! Who ordered a caramel macchiato?”
“Ah, here we are,” Hyunjin smiled as you reached the storage room. There was something incredibly unsettling about his smile, you realized. “Could you go in and find something?”
“Find what exactly?” you asked, slowly opening the door, but before you could get your answer, Hyunjin shoved you into the room and slammed the door shut behind you. You attempted to push it back open but he grinned unapologetically while calling after you, “I think it’s jammed. I’ll call the locksmith. It might take some time!”
You were fuming. “Get back here you little-!”
“No point in yelling curses at him,” a familiar voice interrupted at you. You turned around to find Seungmin sitting on a bag of coffee beans. “He’s not going to listen.”
“Did he lock you in here too?”
He hummed in confirmation and leaned forward, shifting his weight onto his elbows that were rested on his knees. “He locked me in here as soon as I got back from my lunch break. By the way,” he leaned to the side and picked up a paper bag, “I brought you back some cinnamon rolls. Figured Hyunjin wouldn’t let you on your lunch break until after your shift.”
“The joy of morning shifts,” you agreed and gratefully took the bag from him. He made room for you to sit next to him on the coffee bag. “Thank you, Seungmin.”
“No need,” he sighed, letting his body relax to its best capability given the conditions given. “It was a two for one deal. I bought four cinnamon rolls for my lunch and got two free.”
“So you figured the least you could do was feed them to me?”
Seungmin hummed in response. “You always complain about your brother not allowing you to take lunch breaks on Thursdays.”
“You’re a literal angel,” you managed to get out through a mouthful of bread.
“No.” His face suddenly looked redder than usual. “I’m just trying to look out for a friend.”
“We’re friends now?” you asked in surprise, earning a smack to the arm from the boy.
“Of course,” he stated. “Do you not want to be?”
You chuckled awkwardly. “I suppose I’d like to be considered as your friend.”
“That sounded so awkward,” he laughed loudly before pinching your cheek. “What a cutie.”
“Shush.” You pushed his hand away from you.
The two of you sat in silence for a while. It was just you, him, a bag full of beans and a large cold storage room. A really cold room full of coffee, fruits, flour and sugar. You felt your body start to shiver slightly.
Seungmin took notice of that, immediately going into high alert. “Are you cold?” he asked while unzipping and pulling off his hoodie. “Here, take this.” He practically shoved the piece of clothing into your arms.
“I’m fine,” you chuckled. “Just a bit chilly.”
“Take my sweater, you ungrateful punk,” he exclaimed through giggles as you attempted to hand him back the clothing. A relentless game of hot potato began. It only ended when Seungmin’s phone rang in one of the pockets of the hoodie.
Seungmin reached over to pull it out before throwing the sweater over at you with a chuckle. “Keep it. I won’t give up until you do.”
“Fine,” you grumbled and wrapped the hoodie around yourself, relishing in its warmth unwillingly.
He smiled at the sight of you practically cuddling into his sweater but quickly shook his head to rid himself of any ridiculous thoughts (no matter how much he wanted to cuddle you into oblivion). Without a second of hesitation, he unlocked his phone and checked his messages, groaning in the process.
“Did something happen? What’s wrong?” you asked at his reaction, eyes wide in surprise and worry.
“My friend just ditched our plans for the evening,” Seungmin sighed, practically slamming his phone onto the floor. “I really wanted to go to the cinema tonight, but there’s no point in going alone.”
Your ears perked in interest and you asked, “What were you going to watch?”
“The cinema a block from here does these reruns every other week. They’re showing Endgame tonight and I didn’t get to see it when it first came out,” he told you through several sighs. “I was really looking forward to going to see it tonight, but I guess I’m not going after all.”
“Have you bought the tickets yet?”
“Of course,” he grumbled, realizing that he had spent a rather good amount of money on these tickets. You could read from his expression that your question had only fueled his anger.
You gathered your courage and suggested, “I could go with you.”
Seungmin sat up straight. Eyes wide and mouth agape, he looked like a confused child. “What?”
“I said I could go with you, if you really wanted to go,” you shrugged, trying to sound and act as casual as possible. Maybe if you put on a good front, he wouldn’t think of it as a date.
“You’d do that for me?”
“I mean,” you chuckled nervously, “I didn’t get to see it yet, either. Hyunjin made me work during all of the showings.”
“That’s why you were so pissed the whole month,” Seungmin realized, slapping his forehead as the knowledge seeped in. “I thought you were just having a rough patch.”
“No, I was just pissed at my brother,” you shrugged.
Seungmin smiled shyly. “I’ll see you at the cinema at 6 o’clock?”
“Deal,” you grinned.
The two of you continued making plans for the evening for quite a few minutes. You were about to make plans for dinner (and trying your best to convince yourself you weren’t about to go on a date with your cutest co-worker) when the door to the storage room opened and revealed Woojin.
“What are you two doing in here?” he asked in surprise, looking rather startled as he met eyes with you. “I thought you were taking your lunch breaks.”
“Hyunjin locked us in here,” Seungmin deadpanned, pushing himself to his feet and extending his hand to you. You gladly accepted it and allowed him to pull you up. “I think he’s trying to make up a reason to fire us.”
Woojin hummed in response, eyes still big and wide enough to resemble those of a startled owl.
“Wait, you thought the both of us were on a lunch break?” you realized. “How long were we in here?”
Seungmin checked his watch and responded, “About an hour.”
Your eyes widened as you squeaked out, “JISUNG!” Before Seungmin or Woojin could question you, you dashed out into the cafe, hugging Jisung while apologizing for making him work three spots at once for such a long time, even if it wasn’t your fault directly.
Jisung was rather chill about it, hugging you back and even patting your head as he accepted your apology. “I heard Hyunjin’s evil laugh when he came back from the storage room without you. I assumed he had murdered you or something. I’m just glad you’re alive.”
“So, we’re cool?”
“You owe me lunch,” Jisung laughed before pressing a friendly kiss to your forehead and walking back to the kitchen where the dishwasher was waiting for its master. He made sure to mess up Seungmin’s hair on his way there.
“Jisung replaced both of us?” Seungmin asked in apparent shock as you nodded. “Poor guy.”
The hour went by rather nicely. You and Seungmin made evening plans between making and delivering coffees and most importantly - Jisung finally got to go on his well-deserved lunch break. As the end of your shift neared, you sat back at the counter and tasted an experimental blend Seungmin had come up with while stuck in the storage room.
“Oh, this is nice,” you complimented. “I like the texture. Kind of creamy.”
“Right?” Seungmin smiled widely, resembling a happy puppy. All that was missing was a tail wagging so hard it made his body wiggle. What an adorable guy.
You nodded. “We should ask Hyunjin to include it on the menu. The Seungmin special.”
Seungmin’s ears turned red. “Now you’re just being overly supportive. Kind of like a soccer mom.”
“I’ll willingly be your soccer mom if it means I get to drink this every day,” you sighed dreamily, earning a playful glare from the barista as he turned to clean the machinery.
“Great news, dumbos,” Hyunjin barged into the cafe before stopping in his steps. His eyes widened as he gazed at you and Seungmin. He sputtered, “When did you- How did you- What?!”
Seungmin didn’t even look up from the machine and sounded thoroughly unimpressed as he spoke, “If you’re wondering how we got out of the storage room, Woojin let us out about an hour ago.”
“I knew I couldn’t trust that traitor,” Hyunjin swore under his breath and stumbled over to the counter before ringing a little bell he had once placed on the counter in case of staff meeting emergencies. Upon hearing the bell, both Woojin and Jisung came over to the counter. “Anyways, great news - I am  going on vacation.”
“Okay,” Jisung blinked. “And that’s great how exactly?”
Hyunjin thought for a second. “I suppose it isn’t that great for you since you will be stuck with a new manager for 10 days.” A large grin appeared on his face, “But this is great for me because I am going to Hawaii and away from you dorks. So, aloha!”
Without another word, he turned around and walked out of the cafe, leaving his staff behind to stare at him in bewilderment.
You snapped out of it the fastest. You slammed your coffee cup on the counter and cursed. “I knew there was a reason why he was so cheerful and went shopping without me.”
“Wait,” Woojin blinked, looking absolutely puzzled behind the counter. “Then who’s the new manager?”
As if on cue, all of your phones rang to let you know a message had come through. Almost simultaneously you checked the message, finding it in your cafe’s group chat. It read: “I’m leaving Woojin in charge. Aloha, b*tches.”
Woojin looked up and made eye contact with you before declaring with no hesitation whatsoever, “I hate your brother.” Then he sighed and walked back to the kitchen, dragging his feet the whole way.
Another hour passed, this time full of cursing out Hyunjin and thinking of ways to get back at him. You were in the middle of a very passionate rant about why he was the worst when the door’s bell chimed and in walked Bang Chan and Yang Jeongin.
“Did you see the message?” was the first thing Chan said when he approached the counter. He seemed frantic. “How could he go on a vacation without notice?”
“Well, technically he did notify us before going on vacation.” You knew you had to give him that. “He was still on the clock when he told us.”
“Still,” Chan whined, stomping his feet like a toddler and earning an amused look from Seungmin.
You rolled your eyes and nudged Seungmin. “I think that’s the end of our shift.”
“Movie at six, then?” Seungmin smiled at you, taking off his apron as the two of you made your way to the locker room. “I’ll meet you there.”
“I’ll be there by 5:30,” you declared. Then you grabbed your T-shirt and made your way to the bathroom while calling over your shoulder, “See you then!”
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
When you looked around the cinema, it took you a moment to spot Seungmin. At first, you thought he wasn’t even there, but then you caught sight of a familiar red hoodie.
A wide smile on your face, you approached him and tapped on his shoulder.
He immediately looked up from his phone and offered you an excited grin. “You came!”
“Of course I did,” you chuckled. “Why would I ditch you?”
“Because we basically hated each other just a week ago,” Seungmin pointed out but reached into his pocket to take out the tickets. “Ready?”
You nodded and locked your arm with his when he motioned for you to. When you offered him a questioning look, he shrugged innocently. “There are a lot of people here. I might lose you.”
“Uh-uh. Sure,” you laughed, all but ignoring the way his ears flushed red.
“Do you want any snacks?” Seungmin asked you once you reached your floor. “There’s a stand over there and we’ve got some time.”
It wasn’t that you didn’t have an appetite for popcorn, but you just weren’t prepared to buy expensive movie snacks. Your wallet was already thin enough and your bank account was still crying from the three kpop albums you had just purchased the week before. But you weren’t about to tell your cute co-worker that. So you just said, “I don’t care for popcorn.”
Unfortunately for you, Seungmin knew you better than that. He offered you a glare that said ‘don’t lie to me’ and you deflated under his gaze.
“You just can’t afford it, right?”
“I hate that you know me so well,” you sighed and nodded in defeat.
Seungmin chuckled and pinched your cheek before reaching for his wallet. “I figured. So I’ll pay. What would you like?”
Three and half an hour later, the two of you walked out of the cinema, eating the excess popcorn in Seungmin’s container. As it turned out, Seungmin did not have the universal habit of eating all his popcorn during the pre-movie commercials and this left him with a lot left.
“My lips are getting swollen from all this salt,” you chuckled but placed piece in your mouth nevertheless. “You could’ve just done the normal thing and thrown it away.”
“Okay, listen here,” Seungmin laughed. “This stuff is expensive and I’ll be damned if I let my money go to waste.”
“By the way,” you smiled at him, affection written all over your face as you faced him, “You didn’t have to do that.”
“Get a large popcorn? I agree,” Seungmin joked. “No, but seriously, it would have been rude of me to eat popcorn when you want some as well.”
You smirked and almost twirled while walking. “And that’s the only reason why you bought me popcorn?”
“Obviously.” He definitely did not choke on his popcorn and it was obviously not the reason why he changed the topic of the conversation. “Do you live far from here?”
“I live on campus. Don’t you?”
“I do,” he agreed. “Let’s go together?”
“Obviously.”

[DAY 23]
Hyunjin wasn’t one to be surprised and startled. Or so he thought until he walked into his precious cafe after two weeks of resting on the beaches of Hawaii and found his dear sister chatting away with Kim Seungmin at the counter. He scowled as Seungmin gave you a cup of coffee and a wink.
“Do you want me to teach you how to make a latte?” Seungmin’s question was directed at you but caught your brother off-guard instead. Hyunjin blinked as he watched his barista lead you around the counter.
“It’s easy,” Seungmin chuckled when you protested quietly. “First, you grind the beans in this machine.” Steadily, he led your hand and rested his head on your shoulder. “Just like that. Try to make it even.”
“What are the two of them doing?” Hyunjin asked Woojin who was just trying to mind his own business and order flour.
The chef blinked and asked, “Who?”
“(Y/n) and Seungmin,” Hyunjin pronounced the names with such bitterness that Woojin almost felt fear. “What are they doing? Since when are they so close?” He pointedly stared at you as Seungmin pressed a soft kiss to your head. “Are you seeing this?”
“They’ve been like that for a while,” Woojin chuckled nervously, side-eyeing his boss. “A couple of weeks at least. I thought you knew.” Without another word, Woojin scurried back into the kitchen, leaving Hyunjin to his thoughts.
“For a while?” Hyunjin asked no one in particular in shock. “You have got to be kidding me. I leave them alone for two weeks and they start dating? As if.”

[DAY 27]
As he put away the now clean coffee cups, Seungmin couldn’t help but sigh in delight. He looked around the cafe for any possible customers before walking out from his station and flipping the sign on the door from “open” to “sorry, we are closed”. Satisfied with his work, he began untying his apron all the while walking to the back room, only to be surprised when he ran into you.
“You scared me,” he whined, hands falling to his side.
“Sorry,” you laughed and patted his cheek gently. “Are you leaving?”
Seungmin nodded with a wide smile. “My day’s finally over.” He thought for a moment before asking, “If you don’t mind, we could go together?”
“That’s very sweet of you,” you cooed and then sighed, “but I’m in charge of closing and cleaning the cafe today. I won’t get home for another hour.”
“Again? Did your brother let go another cleaning lady?” he frowned and puffed out his cheeks in thought. After a short moment, he sighed and declared, “We could probably get this done in half the time if we work together, right? Divide and conquer?”
A smile appeared on your face as you thought over the hint. “You want to help me?”
“You’ve been working late all week,” he pointed out almost worriedly. “Besides, you shouldn’t have to clean all this up on your own.” He walked past you before returning with a mop and an extra broom. “Let’s get to work!”
As it turned out, time passed much faster than usual when you were with someone who could make you smile.
Your laughter echoed in the cafe as Seungmin pretended to dip his broom in during a romantic waltz. He looked up with a grin when you teasingly called out, “Don’t forget to kiss your girlfriend, Minnie!”
“Wahh,” he whined through laughter, “you are too much!”
He then put away his broom and extended his hands towards you. In panic, you backed away slowly and asked through giggles, “What are you doing?”
“I don’t want to dance with the broom anymore.” He leapt forward to grab you by the waist and pull you into his arms. “I like you better anyway.”
“Seungmin,” you whined as he began swaying from one side to the other, making you move along with him. “You know I can’t dance.”
He hissed in thought. “A waitress who cannot dance? Preposterous.”
You were about to bite back when you heard it. A beautiful sound. His chest vibrated under your palms as he hummed along to the radio that was playing in the background.
Never once letting go of you or looking at you, his humming grew over to singing. You could merely smile in awe as his beautiful voice echoed in the room. Somehow his singing made him seem even more attractive than usual. You didn’t even notice when he stopped singing and looked at you - that’s how engrossed with his beauty you were.
“Why are you looking at me like?” he mumbled shyly, eyes sparkling with amusement and a little something else.
“Like what?” you asked, awestruck with the sparkles in his brow eyes.
Seungmin smiled and leaned forward just a bit. “Like you’re in love with me.”
“What if I am?” you murmured, breath caught in your throat at your proximity. His breath fanned across your face and you felt your heartbeat race at double speeds. This was it.
He leaned forward just a bit more, and if you concentrated enough, you could feel his lips brush against yours.
“Oh my goodness,” Hyunjin’s startled shout broke the two of you apart. He didn’t seem to notice he had ruined the moment because he sighed dramatically, “What are you two doing here so late? I don’t pay you to stick around for extra hours. Jesus.”
When he turned and walked away, you and Seungmin stifled giggles.
“Does he not have a home or something?” Seungmin joked and wrapped his arms back around you. “Why is he always here?”
“I don’t think he even knows where home is,” you offered in return before resting your hands on his shoulders. “Where were we before my brother interrupted?”
Seungmin hummed in thought. Then he clicked his tongue and declared, “Oh right!” Before you knew what was going on, he was leaning in again and just like the last time, your heartbeat sped up and your lungs stopped intaking oxygen. As his lips brushed against yours ever so gently, he whispered, “I really like you a lot, (Y/n).”
“Really?” you smiled bashfully against his lips. If only he’d lean in just a bit more. Just half an inch. Come on.
“Yeah,” he mumbled, brushing his nose against yours.
You stifled a giggle at his cute behaviour. “Good. Because I like you too.”
“Cool…” he murmured, eyes sparkling as he stared at your lips. “Does that mean we are dating now?”
“Do you want to?” you teased him. Anything to get those velvety lips on yours faster. Oh, how you longed to taste them.
“Yes.”
“Well, there you go then,” you leaned forward just a bit, brushing your noses together and making his breathing stutter in anticipation.
“Does that mean I can kiss you now?” he asked shyly. “Please? I think I might burst if I wait any longer.”
You groaned playfully and pinched his neck gently. “Just kiss me, you big-”
And just like that, his lips were finally against yours in a kiss that made you see butterflies and fireworks. As he pulled you closer to him, you couldn’t help but smile against his lips.
Finally.
Suddenly Seungmin pulled away and snorted. When you offered him a questioning glare, he declared, “We should probably tell Hyunjin our wishes. So he can prepare ahead of time.”
“Wishes?”
“I think it’s safe to say we won that little bet he made us make at the beginning of the month,” Seungmin smirked before pressing his lips against yours once again. “Do you not think so?”
“Oh, definitely,” you agreed before kissing him again.
