I think the ending of Baby Reindeer went over a lot of people’s head to be honest. The ending isn’t supposed to be a ‘full circle moment’ where Donny ‘becomes’ Martha. It’s supposed to be Donny realising it was never his fault that Martha started stalking him, that his kindness wasn’t at fault. He offered an upset woman a cup of tea for free, that’s something most people would do in that situation. When the bartender gives Donny a drink on the house when he forgot his wallet, it’s Donny realising that kindness should not result in being stalked and harassed. It’s him realising that Martha is very mentally unwell and that the situation wasn’t his fault. Also, stop trying to find the real people the story is based on, Richard Gadd said that it’s not the point of the story and it’s putting real people in danger. Like how are people watching a story of a man being stalked and then going and doing the same thing to real people? It’s gross. Richard Gadd doesn’t owe the public that information, nor do the public need to know the real abusers in the story to understand the point of it.

This is just gonna be me yelling into the void but!! peoples reactions to ‘baby reindeer’ are pissing me off and its so obvious they don’t understand CPSTD!!! ‘omg why did he try to relive his trauma’ ‘why did he go back to his groomer’ ‘hes a weirdo for getting off to his stalker’ these are all totally common reactions to sexual trauma!!! shakinf you by the shoulders.. saying shit like that is only reinforcing to the people who have experienced similar and related to that show that their trauma reactions are gross or make them stupid or a bad person. grooming and sexual trauma fuck you up real bad!!! its normal to act irrationally or in a way which makes the situation worse!! its common to try to re-experience it to try to take control! and its still! never! your! fault! screams!

the entire internet focussing on ‘who the real Martha is’, instead of the identity of the powerful writer who groomed and r*ped donny just tells you what you need to know about the state of our society.

ive never seen as good a depiction of fawning to your abuser out of empathy for their own mental illness and trauma until baby reindeer.

Baby reindeer was brutal, triggering, uncomfortable, honest and beautiful. One of the best portrayals of someone with sexual trauma I've ever seen on TV.

Richard Gadd is ten times the man I am because if I shared my trauma and I saw people calling me the villain and debating on what I should have done and calling my actions bad (even though I already acknowledged my role in what happened and also that guilt over being an imperfect victim is part of what kept me from saying anything at the time) I would go fucking insane and start killing
