Good Omens Fic Rec: Postcards From Paris
Crowley has just moved into his Mayfair apartment and finds a postcard addressed to the previous tenant. With no return address, he's left to collect and read the mysterious A.Z.F.'s adventures across Europe, where he hunts for bizarre bibles and rates ridiculously expensive wine in his free time. The question is: How will A.Z.F. react when Crowley finally gets his return address and writes back? It was different, he knew, to accidentally read someone else’s postcard versus intentionally perusing one in place of good newspaper over coffee. Crowley decided he was allowed that indecency, to balance out the good deed of safeguarding the mail in the first place. He kicked his feet up onto his desk, scooped up the takeaway coffee that was brought around by their newest intern, and settled in to read some of the most densely crowded handwriting he’d ever laid eyes on.

*Minor Spoilers* I am hurrying to write this post before it hits midnight in Australia so that I can say HAPPY BIRTHDAY @mrghostrat!!! Bilvy is one of my favorite creators here, not only for their amazing art but because they back it up with excellent writing every time. I genuinely am so impressed with the amount of work they do, I can't imagine how it all gets done so quickly with this level of quality. Thank you for all that you do, and I hope that you had a great birthday!
Anyway, you're here for the story! For it's length, this is such a rich story. You quickly fall into this world as our anxious and lonely Crowley starts receiving postcards that belonged to the previous tenant from the mysterious A.Z.F. Soon he starts writing back, and well, you can guess how it'll go. What Bilvy does so well, is take some pretty standard romance tropes and finds a way to do them uniquely and at 100. Every one of their stories feels like it could be a real rom-com and I mean that as a compliment. The pacing, the dialogue, the little details all come together and make their stories so engaging.
This is such a sweet treat, it's a perfect pick-me-up. You just can't help being charmed by this story. Completely safe in public, the only thing you'll need to worry about is how much you'll be smiling during this. Happy Birthday Bilvy, we're so lucky to have you!
I can't post about them until they are finished, but you guys should also be reading Big Name Feelings and And They Were Streamers! They're so good!

Voracious Silence AU
As an interior designer, Character A has found a lot of success in a myriad of special situations: babyproofing a high-end show space, developing a plan for a blind-accessible apartment, even making a bedroom for a poly family. The work is fascinating and varied, with every project different from the next.
Having made a name for themselves in “accessible interior design,” they’re commissioned by Character B to help create a very special room for their child. Curious, Character A asks for as many details as possible, and Character B hesitantly obliges, ensuring that they warn Character A that seven other designers quit when they had more information and understood how difficult the task may be.
Wanting a challenge, Character A reassures Character B that they wouldn’t quit no matter what; Character B sighs before readjusting the phone at their ear.
“Well, my kid is a voracious reader; they will practically inhale a 400 page book in a single day, I mean, we can’t even get them to stop for food sometimes. I’d love to make a space for them to better-enjoy reading. Right now, they’re sitting in the bottom of their closet, for god’s sake. The thing is, though, my child is non-verbal and autistic. We aren’t really sure what they want the space to be like. We know designing it will be like grasping into the dark, but would you consider it?”

A guy doing marine research into phytoplankton is far out to sea and waiting for the samples to be ready when he spots a fast-moving ripple in the water up ahead.
Fully aware that this spot is home to a migratory orca pod, he assumes he's stumbled across an orca hunting a seal and settles against the railing to watch, because it's not every day you get to see that.
The ripples get closer, the shadows in the water more defined, the water choppier, and suddenly the orca and its unfortunate prey are zooming directly towards the boat and he's waiting, breath held, for them to duck right underneath--
When the water breaks, the ocean sprays, and he's suddenly smacked fully in the face by a very wet, very confused, and very pretty merman, throwing them both down onto the deck while the boat rocks as a confused and now quite hungry orca dives beneath it.
The merman, it turns out, thought that the boat was an ice float and didn't realise his mistake until it was too late. But he's very thankful for the impromptu rescue, and wow don't you have nice arms, and holy shit you've got legs, can I touch them? Is that weird? Can I touch them anyway? And your hair--
So of course they get to talking because they're both utterly fascinated with the other, and soon the sun has set and the samples are long-since ready and the moonlight is making the ocean look black and they part with the knowledge that they'll never meet again, and a kiss, and a lingering look over the shoulder for all the things that can't be...
And the researcher gets back to land, moors his boat, readies his samples. He packs up his things, shoves them into his bags, and prepares to go home. He steps onto the jetty boards and thinks of the merman and the solid wood beneath his feet seems to sway for more than one reason.
There's a splash. He turns, pulled as if by the tide, and there's a ripple in the water. A face. A pair of eyes made black by the moonlight.
And this is how the researcher acquires a merman boyfriend who helps him find samples and the merman acquires a human boyfriend who rescues him from whales.

Good Omens Fic Rec: Petrichor & Parchment
“Mr. Crowley, I presume?” Aziraphale asked in lieu of an introduction, which was not forthcoming. The guy hadn’t even removed his sunglasses. Oh God, he had a tattoo on his face. Aziraphale wasn’t one to judge, but… what kind of gardener had a snake tattoo on his face?

*Minor Spoilers* There are some fics that I can only describe as decadent. I can't wax poetic about it, it's just the phrase that I instantly associate with a story like this. This is a book restorer/gardener au. Aziraphale has just moved out to the country and hires Crowley to tame his new garden. They are both beautifully passionate about what they do, which turns out to be the exact same. They are both restorers. Not fixing, “It’s not fixing. They don’t need fixing. They need a bit of care and attention. Some delicate surgery and healing. Someone to care for them, revive them, rebuild them, reassure them. Put them back together and help them stay that way.” Aziraphale with his books, and Crowley with the neglected garden. And of course you know how else they can use those inherent traits of nurturing and compassion.
I love Aziraphale in this. He's not written silly or overly self conscious. He has insecurities and doubts of course, but he's confident in who he is and more importantly he loves who he is. He doesn't make excuses for his passion. The scene with the town vicar was a particular stand out for me. We don't know too much about Crowley. This story is more about what's happening in the now, not much backstory. But there are plenty of clues and a small explanation from Crowley that let's us piece together a lot of the story ourselves. The beauty of fanfiction is we're all so intimately aware of these characters it's effortless to read their body language and subtle clues. This story utilizes that well. Allowing us to fill in the gaps because it trusts us to pick up on those details. Crowley here is slightly shy and quieter than some authors write him. Well, okay amendment, he's shy and quiet OUTSIDE the bedroom. But it's an excellent take that really understands the core of who he is. Love that there is some miscommunication and insecurities in their new relationship but stays realistic and grounded. They're not going to run away from each other, they're going to stay and figure it out together.
This story is just so lush and beautiful. I want to live in it. It made my heart race with tension, and burn with the romance of it all. This is at home reading. There are a couple of explicit sex scenes, so don't be reading this one where someone could be peaking over your shoulder. Unless you're into that sort of thing I guess!

Book 2 au: sparring sessions and short hair katara
They like to have sparring sessions in order to keep their bending skills sharp. They allow themselves to go all out and not hold back at all cause they know if anyone got hurt, Katara could just heal them
But anyways, wouldn't it be kinda funny if Zuko accidentally burned Katara's hair tho? Aofkqldkkajfjd
The "I think we can save the hairloops" line is from @linnoya-writes thank you for that!! :>>

People saying that Aziraphale is into bad boys and Crowley is into good boys actually have it the wrong way around! You guys are just getting distracted by the Aesthetic!
Proof: Crowley got interested in Aziraphale when he started acting a bit bad aka unangelically while Aziraphale meanwhile has heart eyes every time Crowley does something Kind (tm).
