Shadowheart: so hear me out...

Gale: [trying not to act interested but very interested] go on...

(fun fact: another name for nightshade is belladonna which translates to “beautiful woman” We love us a poet).

Every ship is a valid ship and Larian did well with how romanceable all the party characters feel with each other, the chemistry they all have.

And.

Larian did something to the core of my being with the way they wove parallels into Gale & Shadowheart's wounds. Now, forgive me, I don't have screencaps, BUT

The way that both believe these wounds are their fault, and that penance is the only thing that will ease this pain for good.

The way that both believe these wounds are because of mistakes they are both making now, and mistakes they made in youth, when really all they are is markers of (chronic) pain due to abuse. And the ways that trauma can manifest as illness, and that the crushing thing about that is that trauma survivors then blame themselves for not being enough for others (sound like a certain wizard we know??)

And how, when he finally opens his mind to her (the tadpole does NOT connect your minds involuntarily), it is with a hand over his heart. (I have to look again but I am 99% certain it is her wounded hand)

But it goes beyond that, because of course it does. And here's where the diabolical geniuses at Larian get me.

Gale's sex scene, on a Shadowheart origin. The first thing she does to him is lean into (and kiss????) his orb scar.

And the first way that he introduces her to Sparkly Weave Pleasure™ is by taking her wounded hand in his and channeling what is ostensibly a very good feeling through it.

There's something here about recognizing and tending the wounds in each other, and turning them into sources of goodness and strength. Something about surviving and healing from trauma and being rid of that pain — eventually, potentially after years of enduring it — together.

Anyway I'm not normal about them!!!!!! Where're my galeheart girlies at!!!!!!

I'll make sure to post the final pictures but was excited to share my current project as I work away on some smaller and larger things :)

I am a Galeheart lover, and so of course I had to make a tapestry piece for them. I wanted to play around with the imagery of Gale's orb/its reaching strands and the dark maw of Shar's symbol. In that darkness comes Selune's symbols. I love how this came out, the colors are so lovely together and I feel like it comes together in a really pretty way. Definitely abstract though haha!

I've lightly shipped Gale & Shadowheart since the beginning so this line literally had me biting my lip and glancing around like "oh~ look who have gotten friendly"

Gale really is poetic and I’m screaming, crying, throwing up. As a Galeheart shipper this makes my heart so happy. Gale is straight up saying he thinks Shadowheart is beautiful and it’s just so fitting. Ugh. I love this ship so much. Also the way he says all of this, and the way he wistfully looks up at the sky as he talks about her. The man has a crush and you can’t deny it.

"Just admit you're wrong," Shadowheart says accusingly, pressing a finger to Gale's sternum. "Well, technically, I was right when you consider—" Shadowheart shakes her head and narrows her eyes at him. "We're not considering anything. I was right, and you were wrong. Admit it." Gale scoffs. "Absolutely not! You're completely failing to take into account the—" He shuts up once Shadowheart presses her lips to his, muffling whatever his followup argument would have been. He relaxes into her touch, dropping his wagging finger back to his side. "Admit you were wrong, Gale," Shadowheart commands as her hand ghosts between his legs. A beat passes. He seems to consider his options. Shadowheart adds pressure, and he finally relents. "I was wrong," he groans.
