COD MONSTER 141 AU: BABEL
Tags: @onehornedbeast @unpetitoiseau @shegetsburned @children-of-epiales @chadillacboseman @scentedcandleibex
Tumblr media
Hellhound/ Black Shuck (inspired by the various black hound folklore in some parts of Europe)
Can dematerialise into smoke and rematerialise in his hellhound form
Leaves a trail of ash and soot wherever he goes
When you stare into his eyes in his hellhound form, you are guaranteed to die within a year and the rest of your family will recieve the same fate
Saliva is venomous and flammable; must be treated immediately if bitten; the scars that the bites and/or saliva leave are similar to burn marks and jellyfish stings
Can give good fortune to anyone who sees his hellhound form once, for misfortune will come to anyone who sees Henry twice or thrice or multiple times.

Note
For the smash and pass ask, Braise with Babel (R6 and COD) and Patriot.
Yesss them! Tysm for the ask! ♡
rainbow six siege au
𝐒𝐌𝐀𝐒𝐇 -> Babel
For some reason, yeah. But it would be a one time thing and nothing more. His attitude is what gets her, but again, working for the enemy? Not really attractive.
𝐏𝐀𝐒𝐒 -> Patriot
I have mixed feeling about this one, because the age would definitely be a problem as well as her attitude, so I’m gonna say that Braise wouldn’t choose smash.
cod au
𝐏𝐀𝐒𝐒 -> Babel
Absolutely not. This man is a true psychopath and she’s definitely heard of the soldier who slaughtered an entire group of insurgents including the mothers and the kids. A definite pass.

------
Marius has never felt pressured to pull a trigger before.
He has done the action countless times that it has integrated into his body. But under the hard gaze of Amarice Locke, all muscle memory vanishes instantaneously. The German shudders tensely and his finger moves to the trigger–
And it hits the target.
Marius lets out a shaky sigh but sucks the air back in once Amarice spoke. “15 seconds…”
“What?”
“It took you at least 15 seconds for you to shoot the target.”
The older woman tuts and crosses her arms. “I would have shot you under five.” Grace and Masaru did not exaggerate when they said Amarice was… well they said a lot about her. Marius didn’t believe it at first but then he saw what they went through. He was just passing by that day when he saw Grace, Masaru, Dominic, Olivier and Mark doing bench presses outside in the middle of a thunderstorm with Amarice on the sidelines holding out an umbrella for Gustave who looked like all the blood had been drained from him.
So when Amarice had offered some shooting practice earlier, Marius was visibly nervous.
“Oh sorry…” Was all Marius managed to muster out. The older woman huffs and gestures for Marius to retry. Marius gulps and does it–
“Again
Again
Again
Again
Again
Again
Again…”
By the last round, Marius’s body is slick with sweat and his grip trembles. Amarice moves to inspect the target, her finger traces the outline of each individual bullet hole with keen inspection. “Not bad..” The look she gives Marius is enough for him to start internally panicking and deciphering the strange emotion behind that look.
But unfortunately, he didn’t decipher the punch that sent him to the floor. Marius groans in pain, muttering curses in his native tongue as he tries to lift himself up. He tastes iron in his mouth and realizes the blood trickling down his nose.
“You should be more alert.” Amarice cracks some knuckles. She offers a hand for Marius to which he hesitantly takes. The older woman pulls him up only to sweep him off his feet. “What did I say?”
“That I should…. Be… more..” Marius pants. “Alert…?” Amarice sighs and spares him a stern glance. “Get up.” Marius does not want to get up and at the same time he wants to. His legs feel like a stack of cards as he stands. Amarice moves to jab her knee in his stomach, but the German anticipates the attack and blocks her knee. He swings his fist forward only for the older woman to headbutt him in his already leaking nose.
The pain was electrifying and Marius could feel tears welling up in his eyes. He staggers back, droplets of blood make small spots on the floor. Marius notices Amarice too reeling away, a noticeable bruise in her right cheek.
“Why?”
Amarice’s eyes flicker to Marius. “Why are you doing this? Why did you ask me to come here?” The older woman feels her throat run dry when she answers, “So that when you see Henry again, you’ll know how to kick his ass.”
An infectious dread makes Marius’s stomach sink to the bottom. The news spreads like wildfire throughout the base: Deimos has been captured and is being brought back to HQ from Emerald Plains.
Had it not been for Julien’s quick reaction, from what he heard, Fisher would have died and Deimos would have gotten away. He should be feeling happy that the man who killed Harry, who lit the fuze to the fire was in chains.
But…
He wondered among the Keres in Deimos’s squad, was he part of the dead?
Marius closes his eyes and buries the thought. He glances down at the shuffling in his pocket and silences with a tap. If you are still here, then he might be too.
It’s done. Proceed to the second phase.
He snaps the phone shut and turns to the Keres behind him. They stand tall and firm, ready to obey their commander. He clasps their hands together.
“Listen up–”
His footsteps echo as he strides towards them. “Keres-01 Actual has been detained by RAINBOW as according to plan.” The screen flickers alive with Deimos’s picture and his coordinates. “It is expected that in a few days he will be taken to a black site where all RAINBOW operators will gather.” Pictures of various operators pop up in the screen. “We go in silently, then when the moment comes–” he snaps and the Leeches around the room glow in an ominous red– “shoot as many ducks as you’ll like.”
The Keres pump their fists in the air and yell, before they spread out and prepare themselves for the upcoming battle. His eyes wander back to the screen just in time for Marius’s picture to come up.
He fights that primal urge in his body to reach out. He balls his fists to the side.
And Henry wears his mask.

Downtown Seoul is chaotic.
Sounds of rapid gunfire and screaming civilians merge into one. A man tries to help his sister out of his burning car. The shattered bodies of fallen RAINBOW trainees lay scattered on the darkened road. Thick smoke wafts into the air, turning the bright sunlit sky into a hazy black fog.
And the man behind such a despicable act is--
"Dear fucking God this is good."
Henry grabs a juicy piece of beef from the grill, chowing it down as he watches the man before him wolf down several slices of pork neatly wrapped in fresh lettuce.

Henry "Babel" Adler | R6
Tumblr media
"So how's our guest holding up?" Deimos stares at the man, tied up and barely in his seat. The sounds of their prisoner's groans echo throughout the room. Henry licks some blood off his fingers. "He caved in rather quickly." He huffs, crossing his arms with a frown. "I thought he would last another hour or so." Deimos chuckles and makes a gesture with his hand.
"Pay up, Adler."
Amarice "Patriot" Locke | R6
Tumblr media
"So," Gustave leans in closer, "Nam and Enatsu came into the infirmary today." The sound of typing fingers stop and Amarice moves her gaze away from the laptop and meets Gustave's.
"And?"
Gustave crosses his arms, a somewhat scolding expression written all over him. "Well they complained about having back pains and cramps. And they appear as they haven't had any proper sleep.." The Frenchman narrows his eyes. "You didn't have anything to do with that, right?"
Amarice deadpans and gives Gustave a quick peace sign before resuming her report.

Lost Kitten
Warning(s): Violence
Author's Notes: Probably the first fic that I've put much effort. The fic is named after a song after METRIC and it makes a brief appearance in the fic. Hope you enjoy :)
Words: 2971
Tags: @poisonedtruth @unpetitoiseau @chadillacboseman @children-of-epiales @infinitewhore @shegetsburned @linoleum-ice
Smoke wafts in the air as the scene in front unfolds. Debris scattered the ground and the black marks on the walls that made them. Men and women alike wailed in pain as they were struck with wounds; some minor and some dealing fatal blows. Gustave and a handful of other medics surround the scene treating the wounded while the other operators help.
This wasn't what Marius was expecting when he returned from a mission. He had completely forgotten about his teammates and rushed to the scene, hoping Henry was alright. But his fear, the coiling sensation in his stomach, increases when he can't see him anywhere. He hears himself calling his name but is met with silence. Marius searches aimlessly, his voice close to a scream.
Marius should have stayed-- helped with the others fending them off. But who could have started this? Deimos. It was Deimos. It was obviously him. He had been getting more bolder with his attacks.
Something shiny catches his eye.
It shimmered in the soot of a broken wall that splattered like dried blood. He steps closer and crouches down. He picks up and shakes the soot off of the object. Marius felt his heart stop and his eyes went wide. His hand shakes as he moves the item closer: the familiar head of Henry's Leeches. He feels his world crashing down; spiraling uncontrollably.
He hears a pair of footsteps behind him. Marius turns to see Jordan and Emil-- who recently joined. "Jordan?" He brings himself to his feet and approaches them. His feet never felt so heavy and each step he took was painfully tantalizing. "Jordan.." He lets Leech's head clatter to the floor. "Jordan." Tears sting Marius's eyes as he puts both of his hands on Jordan's shoulders. "Jordan, where's Henry?"
Emil looks to Jordan with a puzzled expression. "He knows the mole--" "Marius." Jordan gives Marius a weak smile, breath hitching once in a while with an uneven pacing.
"Marius, there's something I have to tell you."
--
"What?!" Jordan couldn't believe what he was hearing. Emil narrows his eyes, leaning closer. "How else would Deimos expect your attacks and penetrate your defenses?" Jordan pinches the bridge of his nose. The situation was getting worse by every passing second.
"You're telling me there's a mole within RAINBOW?"
Emil nods, making him groan in frustration. There's over a dozen operators and personnel inside the facility. Whoever had done this made sure to cover up their tracks, adding to his pile of problems.
Jordan knew all of the people in the facility-- some even close friends with him. It feels so wrong to engage in a witch hunt but this was the fate of the lives of the people they're talking about here.
He clasps his hands together, trembling slightly.
"You've got anyone in mind?"
--
Emil sees him sometimes. The man with the motorcycle helmet.
The man would often watch from afar, observing Emil work with Deimos spectating beside him. Other times he'd come close and personal, striking a conversation with him about the formula he's been working on. Although he didn't know Deimos well, Emil very well knows that his employer doesn't allow most of his mercenaries the privilege to show Emil's experiments. Whoever this was, they were important.
Later on, he'd find the mystery man's company to be somewhat tolerable.
"Tell it not to touch that…"
Emil eyes the man's drone, close to remove a vial from the rack. He had forgotten the first time the man let his drones roam in his laboratory. Emil had found them to be quite a nuisance: breaking lab equipment and scaring off his assistants. "Let it have its fun." The man replies, sultry and playful voice muffled by the helmet. Emil huffs. "And let it break another vial?" The man shrugs, watching the drone lay flat on its back after successfully extracting the vial. It chitters erratically and struggles to flip over. Emil notices this and pauses his work, flipping it the other side. "They cost a lot, you know?" With a careful tug, the empty vial is free of the drone's grasp. It walks away with a defeated chitter. "Right, but our employer can supply another batch."
"You abuse his generosity." Emil groans as the mouse begins  to claw itself to death, cracking the containment glass. "And you abuse his patience. You know full well he demands a perfected serum." Emil glares at the masked man, nostrils flaring up. "Aren't you supposed to be somewhere?" Sensing his rising anger, the man chuckles.
"Already have and now I'm here to kill time, something wrong with that wolf boy?"
Emil rolls his eyes. He hated that nickname. "Yes, you're interrupting my progress-- you and you're--" Emil trails off seeing the drone sliding a drawer open before burrowing its entire weight inside, shredding papers in the process--"pet…."
"Aww, don't be like that Fenrir." He pinches Emil's cheeks eliciting an annoyed growl from the Norwegian. The audacity that the man has to treat him like some sort of child. "I know you enjoy their company." While he doesn't like to admit, Emil those somewhat find amusement with the drones. He'd compare them to puppies-- if they were weirdly shaped and have a surveillance camera for a head.
Something vibrates in the man's pocket and he curses. He steps away and brings the phone to his ear.
"Yes… I already did." Emil glances at the other, listening quietly. "I've seen that the NIGHTHAVEN equipment would reach the designated coordinates… No doubt, they'll send us to ambush them…" The man scoffs. "Trust the process, I'll make a distraction for Cohen and her lapdogs then I'll give you the intel. No changes." He hangs up.
"Who's Cohen?"
"I didn't take you as an eavesdropper, Fenrir." The man slings a backpack on his arms, the straps fitting nicely. "But I suggest you don't ask anymore questions." The man flashes a look. "For your sake." His hand was floating on the door handle when Emil called for him. He tosses something and the man intercepts, chuckling upon viewing the object. "Nearly forgot about you…" The drone chitters angrily before crawling into a pocket.
"Wait.."
"What now?"
Emil steps forward. "What are you and Deimos really up to?" There has been some growing suspicion that everything wasn't as it seems. Everything doesn't add up and the questions he's asked about his employment is ignored or belittled. This time the man steps forward, too close that sends Emil retreating into a corner. All the playfulness from earlier vanished and was replaced into something else.
For the first time, the man lifts his visor up revealing cold brown eyes-- devoid of emotion and he feels like staring into the eyes of a predator. "Do your job and I do mine. Ask the wrong questions and you'll regret it."
The man leaves and Emil is left with more questions.
What has he gotten himself into?
--
"Mr. Trace.." Henry looks up to see him surrounded by armed guards. "To what do I owe the pleasure of your visit?" Jordan sits in front of him. The people in the cafeteria fall silent and watch. Henry feels his blood throbbing violently and his finger itches for a trigger. Something clangs to the table only for it to be one of his Leeches. He musters up a forced smile. "M16, what did you do this time?" A figure steps forward and Henry's smile nearly drops.
Emil Svensson stands behind Jordan, eyes focused on him. Henry bites his lower lip and flashes a look at the Leech who seemed to understand the situation. He taps his feet to the floor, feeling the many crawling legs of his Leeches depart to the floor.
Fuck.
"It's him." Emil says and Jordan nods to the guards. Henry groans when his head hits the table, arms positioned to his back and wrists cuffed. For good measure, one of the guards takes off his watch, a scowl present on his face.
"Jordan, what's going on?" Elias enters the scene, glancing at Henry then back to Jordan. "Don't worry, we'll explain everything to you later.." Henry struggles and catches a glimpse of the German's horrified expression. "Take him to interrogation." Jordan orders and Henry groans in pain when the guards force him up. He hears the growing argument between Elias and Jordan as they leave.
"I had a feeling it was you." Henry stares at Emil. "The moment they said that a member of Deimos's organization defected to RAINBOW, I knew it had to be you…" Emil's face hardens and he gives Henry a fierce look. "Deimos is a dangerous man who won't stop killing millions to get what he wants." He points a damning finger. "And you helped him.."
"Their deaths were necessary.."
"Necessary for what?!" They've stopped now and the guards' grip on him tightened. "What kind of future do you see with the deaths of millions of lives?" Henry smiles. "A peaceful one-- who'd want to start a war knowing the cost of lives that made it possible?" Emil's fist clenched but made no move to strike. "You're insane."
"And so is this.."
A group of Leeches latch on to the guards, crushing their bones with ease. They squirm and groan in pain as they struggle to free them of their flesh. Emil moves to draw his gun, but is stopped when one of his Leeches launches itself to his face, knocking him out. Onlookers screamed and ran away from the scene but Henry ignored them as T7 freed him from his cuffs while Z20 took his watch from a guard's pocket and tossed it to him.
"Great teamwork everyone." Henry looks over to the exit. He makes a run for it with the Leeches trailing behind. He hears voices behind him followed by zipping bullets. One manages to hit his shoulder but he doesn't stop running. Another grazes his side and still he doesn't stop. His Leeches scatter to the walls and ceilings. "A12 stop.." He's managed to get outside now, the sun heating him up and wind tugging at the loose flesh from his open wound. The Leech in question stops itself from joining the others and chirps curiously. He picks it up and whispers something to it before letting it scurry away.
"Adler!" He looks up to see Jordan with a couple of operators, guns pointing at him. "Adler, stop what you're doing." The man orders the others to lower their weapons. Despite the unease and protests, they comply. "Adler… Please don't make us do this. Think about him-- about Marius." Henry clenches his jaw tightly. He gulps.
"Don't--" he lifts his arm up-- "talk to me about Marius…"
Jordan's eyes widen and he looks up to the ceiling then to the walls. "Everyone, fall back! RUN!"
His shoulder felt so heavy, feeling the blood trickle of the fresh wound. Henry smiles widely and his finger presses a button on the watch. The Leeches began rapidly beeping and panic fuels the operators, encouraging them to run faster.
"Boom."
And Henry sends Hell to RAINBOW's doorstep. Using the chaos to his advantage and gathering his remaining strength, Henry gets on his bike and drives off amidst the smoke.
He'll understand. Marius loves me and he'll understand. His arms tremble at the thought. He'll understand… He has too. Henry closes his eyes, feeling the heat of the sun and dripping sweat. I'm doing this for the fate of this world. Of course he'll understand… Right?
He opens his eyes. There's no turning back now and he's reached the point of no return.
--
Marius slumps against the door and slides down. He engages in a tight embrace with Henry's motorcycle jacket. Henry's room was cleaned out for inspection. They've taken most of his things and Marius could only retrieve a few. He buries his face into the leather, breathing in his scent. He left in a hurry. He forgot to take his jacket with him. Everything felt like a bad dream and Marius hoped that he'd wake up soon. But everytime he opens his eyes, Marius is painfully reminded that this was reality. That everything happened.
Did he use him for information? Did Henry actually love him? Marius wouldn't dare to delve deeper into those questions, knowing it would hurt him more. He'd try to counter it back with that memory of Henry saving him from that explosion and all those genuine moments they shared with each other. But it wasn't enough to drown out those thoughts. Instead it amplified them and Marius wished they would just disappear. He feels his phone vibrate but he ignores it. The first thing that will be on its screen would be a photo of Henry; smiling widely as they sat on the beach, watching the sunset.
He just wishes everything would go back to the way it is.
Something crashes inside the vents. Marius's head is quick to spring up, staring intensely at the source. The grating comes off and a familiar shape falls to the floor.
"You.."
Marius recognises the Leech, A12-- the drone crawling towards him. Everyone said that Henry used his entire stock for his escape but it appears they were wrong. Marius offers his palm and A12 hops to the surface. "What are you doing here?"
It chitters in morse code, Marius listening carefully. The German tears up upon the last word.
With this drone, I'll always be with you.
[NOW PLAYING "Lost Kitten - METRIC"]
He chokes on his tears as he brings the Leech closer to his chest. The moment was short lived when a knock sent Marius tensing up, wiping away his tears.
"Marius--" it's Elias--"are you okay in there?" Marius looks over to the Leech now staring at him. Logic dictates for him to bring the drone over to Elena and the others to extract footage from the camera. But he can't. He won't.
"Ja, I am…"
("Don't say yes, if you can't say no~")
"Alright, then.. Take care, I'll give you more time.." Unseen footsteps trail off, growing fainter and fainter.
Ever since he had heard the news, the other operators came to his comfort. Elias being one of them. He admires his fellow German's personality and is grateful for it. But it isn't enough to get him back into high spirits.
("Victim of the system, say it isn't so~)
And he's back to being alone. He returns his focus to A12 still in his palm, snuggling its entire weight against his hollow chest. ("Squatted on the doorstep, swollen on the blow~") His smile returns even for a quick moment. ("Leaving without you can't say no~")
Komm zu mir zurück, Liebling.
("Halfway starts with happiness for me~")
--
("Halfway house, lost kitten in the streets~")
The sun begins to set as Henry continues to drive. His vision starts to get hazy no doubt from the blood loss. He doesn't know how long he's been driving and he jokes that this is some sort of purgatory and that he's already dead. The looming complex from the distance comes to his view. ("Hit me where it hurts, I'm coming home to lose~")
Nearing the base Henry is stopped by guards. He identifies himself and the guards allow him passage. Henry parks his motorcycle near some vehicles and steps off. The moment his feet reach the ground ("Kitten on the catwalk, high-heeled shoes~") he loses his vision and his whole world goes black.
--
The moment he regains his consciousness, Henry feels like shit. His wound was all patched up but everything else hurt. His head throbbed ("No more hard-headed Saturdays~") and his eyes strained from the harsh lighting. Deimos pays him a visit and Henry can tell even with the mask that the man was irritated and amused by Henry's current predicament. They exchanged some "friendly" banter and poorly disguised threats before they went straight to the point.
"It was Svensson wasn't it?"
"Who else would it be?"
Deimos sighs, fingers twitching. "He was always weak-minded-- failing to see the bigger picture." ("They got it, they want it, they give it away~") Deimos lets out a low dry laugh. "Oh well, the plan will carry on, with or without Svensson." Henry must have made a face because he feels a sudden grip on his chin. "What's the matter Babel?" Henry gasps as Deimos pushes his chin up to meet his gaze. "Made some friends there? Having--" the grip on his tightens, the texture of Deimos's gloves digging into his skin-- "second thoughts?"
Henry glares daggers at Deimos, heart pounding in his chest. He would never let this man make him fear him. ("Tell me one thing that you would never do~") "Then I would have never come here in the first place." Henry bites back, restraining himself. Deimos hums. Despite not being satisfied with the answer, Deimos lets him go.
"Report to me first thing tomorrow morning." Once Deimos was gone, Henry let out a breath he hadn't realised he'd been holding.
He puts on some clothes that were laid out for him. I didn't know you're thoughtful, Henry sneers. He finds himself sitting alone in infirmary, finding no energy to leave. With his thoughts running loose, Henry's mind wanders but all he could see was him ("I was looking for a hooker when I found you~").
That reminds him.
He checks his digital watch and checks A12's live feed ("You've got my eyes, you've got my eyes~"). The screen crackles to life showcasing a sleeping Marius and Henry smirks. You've finally slept early. His finger reaches for Marius but he draws it back ("You'll never be mine, ahhh~"). He turns the screen off, the black mirrored surface reflecting Henry's blank slate of a face ("But you've got my eyes~").
Goodnight.

Recovery (A Sequel to Exeunt)
Words: 903
Warnings: None
Author's Note: Slight ooc?? I'm not sure. Had to rewrite this fic a couple of times since I wasn't satisfied with earlier versions/ drafts. Fic takes place before the new Siege comic. Either way, I hope you enjoy. <3
Tags: @poisonedtruth @unpetitoiseau @children-of-epiales @shegetsburned @linoleum-ice
Foot tapping restlessly, sweaty palms clasping each other, form leaning back and forth and head aimed at the floor, Marius waits anxiously outside the infirmary. His stomach twists knots into knots, and a tension rises in his Adam's apple. Guilt bubbles in his throat and his tapping increased to a fast pace. Why was this taking so long? Did something happen? Is he--
No. Marius buries his face in his palms, feeling tears stinging his eyes. This can't be happening. It's all his fault. He should've done something-- noticed something was off beforehand. But now it's too late and Henry's hurt. Hurt because he saved him.
It really is my fault.
The door to the infirmary opens and Gustave exits the room. Marius springs up from his seat. "Is he-- is Henry okay?" The Frenchman sighs. "We successfully removed the rest of the shrapnel from his back. Thankfully, none of it seems to reach his spinal cord." Marius releases a sigh he's been holding on. "Gott sei Dank." His voice trembles with a shakiness. Gustave puts a comforting hand on Marius's shoulder, giving him a reassuring smile. "He's still resting but I'll give you some time to see him."
"Danke, Gustave." Marius murmurs.
The door opens with a click and he sees the laying form of one Henry Adler-- a calm look ever present on his face. Marius drags a stool and sits right next to him. He takes Henry's hand and holds it near his chest. "Please wake up soon."
--
"Marius, aren't you supposed to be preparing for your mission?" The man in question gives off a smile as he replaces the worn, withered irises with fresh ones-- evident by their flourishing indigo palette. "Ja, but I finished preparing some time ago." Henry quirks a brow. "Is that so?" He playfully hums, eyes narrowing as his lips spread into a faint smile. "Alright, I believe you. A bit."
Marius finishes with the arrangement and discards the withered ones in the bin. A new weight is added to the mattress as Marius joins Henry in bed. "I hope the flowers keep you company, liebling. I don't want you to be alone here as you recover." A heat makes its way to Henry's cheeks. It had been a few days since he confessed his feelings towards him. He still could remember the memory like it was yesterday.
(Henry clasps his hands with Marius's, fingers interlocking with one another. He had just awakened a few hours ago. "Thank you." Marius's lips twitch at the comment-- still taken aback by the suddenness of the situation. "What do you mean?" Henry smiles and he takes the other's hand and moves it to cup his cheek earning a shudder from the German. "You make me feel feelings that I have not felt for so long." A lock of hair falls to Henry's face. "And that scared me."
Marius's face deflates and Henry quickly realizes. "It wasn't your fault but mine. I was so blinded by my… confusion that I didn't realize it at first."
"Realize what?"
"That I love you."
The look on Marius's face was indescribable and for a moment Henry thought he had made a mistake. But that fear was quickly gone when the German leaned closer, a growing reddening in his cheeks.
"Henry."
Being bold, Henry closes the distance between their faces. "Marius, it's about time I gave you the proper send-off you deserved that night.")
Both of them, still new to the concept of romantic relationships, did some research beforehand and asked for the guidance of other operators (even if the majority disapprove of the pairing). They've just set up some boundaries and ground rules with one another so that both parties can feel comfortable. It has been some time and so far all was well. But then again, this was the early stages of their relationship.
Henry rests his head on Marius's chest, feeling the thrum of the other's heartbeat. "Hmmm, how thoughtful of you." He lets out a long sigh, relaxed. Marius quirks a brow. "But I'm always thoughtful." Henry chuckles at the straightforward yet innocent reply. "I know." They stayed like this for a while until Marius brought up a proposal. "Want to sneak into the workshop again?" Henry flashes him a mischievous look. "Why not?"
Their little moment was interrupted when Nayara entered the scene. For a while she had a shocked and flustered look on her face but she quickly composed herself. "We'll be leaving in a couple of minutes now. Get your gear and meet us at the carrier." Marius and Henry exchanged some looks with each other. "Don't be late, Streicher." Marius was the first to leave, waving Henry goodbye. Nayara was soon to follow but was stopped when Henry called out to her.
"Bring him back alive." Was all he said in a commanding tone.
The woman freezes for a while before nodding. "I will."
And now Henry was left alone with his thoughts. Thoughts that shifted back to Deimos and the warehouse. When he makes a full recovery, Henry promises to himself, he'll have a talk with the man behind that mask. Was he starting to doubt Henry? Unless of course this was his irritating way of testing his loyalty. Henry lets out a frustrated sigh and his hands curl into balls of tight fists.
Oh well, guess he'll have to deal with it then.

BOOM!
The walls within the training room rumbled from the explosion. "And that's it for Theta-15." Henry adjusts his watch. The other Leeches with him were Alpha-3 and Tango-7 who lifted up the debris of their fallen sibling and carried it away. "What did I say about lifting things up?" The drones look at him. He motions for the Leeches to hand over the leftover remains. Reluctantly they agreed and gave the pieces back to their creator. Henry tuts as he inspects one of the pieces. "The last thing I want is for you two to tip over and flail around helplessly." Both of them chirp regretfully and crawl up to Henry's leg who scoops them up and carefully shoves him down his vest pocket.
The walk back to his personal quarters was anything but interesting. Men and women alike with varied professions within the Rainbow facility walk past him. Some hastily sped up their pace upon recognising him while others forced a greeting. It was obvious none of these people did not appreciate his presence but Henry cared less for their opinions.
--
With a focused look, Henry meticulously repaired the drone on his desk. Below him A3 and T7 tumbled and clashed as per their usual play fights. Finally, the Leech was as good as new. Activating it with his digital watch, the revived Leech sprung into life. "Theta-16. Good to see you again." Henry watched in satisfaction as T16 took its first steps. The drone struggled with its footing for a while before it had completely quickly adjusted. Leaping out of the table, T16 ambushed A3 who was on the verge of claiming victory against T7. Henry sighs and rests his head against the surface of the desk. The door opens and Henry turns to see a man carrying what appears to be a large drone.
"Hallo." The man waves. Henry just stares and turns his head back to rest in its former position. He could hear steps behind him and a polite, "Entschuldigen Sie mich, bitte" followed by a mechanical chattering from his Leeches. He feels a heavy thud from the table next to him. An awkward and tense silence ensues.
"Do you like spending time here?"
Henry looks to meet the man-- visage masked by a pilot's helmet and mask. "Pardon?"
"I've noticed you come here a lot." Was the man's reply, still fixated on the device he was working on. Now, Henry was not one for small talk or in fact conservations. But if someone starts one Henry is obligated to reply. After all, Amarice didn't teach him rude manners. "I prefer it here." He could feel the other lighten up. "I know, ja? If I could choose any place in the world to take a vacation, it would be here." Henry hums in acknowledgement. Perhaps the conversation would end--
"What are they called?"
--Never mind.
"My drones?" Henry confirmed. The man nodded, pausing his work. "They're called Leeches. They--" In a lengthy exposition, Henry explains his Leeches' schematics, their ability to hold onto targeted objects and intended use for blowing things up. The other man listened carefully, clearly interested in the information. "Such a unique device." The man praised. Henry would be lying if he said that it didn't at all fuel his ego. "You flatter me." He snorts, a phantom of a smile tugging in his lips. He shifts his attention to the device. "What does that do?" That proved to be a huge mistake to Henry's part as he was bombarded into an overwhelming conversation.
He had come to learn that device was called the ADS-MKVIV "Magpie," bragging that he proved others wrong with his invention and added that it had been successfully used on ships and tanks. He also said that his name was Marius "Jäger" Streicher, his birthday was tomorrow, his ramblings about a documentary about AI, his favorite movies and--
At this point, Henry felt dizzy. He made no comment or effort to end the conversation as he was both bewildered and confused by what just happened. He didn't even notice that three of his Leeches were on his shoulder chirping in agreement and intrigued by the ongoing conversation.
It felt like an eternity, listening to the German much to Henry's irritation. But to his own surprise he finds himself somewhat enjoying it.
"Do you know who I am?" Henry finally asks.
"Ja."
"And?"
"I think they might be exaggerating. You seem fun to talk to." Henry physically recoils from the reply. His mouth stuttered, finding no words. This was a first, Henry thinks. To think someone actually enjoys being with him. It had struck something inside him. Something primal. Something--
"What are you doing?"
Both turn their heads to meet Elena's shocked gaze. Marius was quick to reply but Henry interjects. "Mr. Streicher here has been providing… useful facts about the creation of his Magpie, nothing too important." He rises from his seat and feels his drones' little legs move back to his vest pocket. "I'll take my leave now." However his legs protest at the doorway.
"Henry."
Elena and Marius stared at him in confusion.
"Was?"
"You can call me Henry."
As he leaves, he could faintly hear the hushed voice of Elena saying, "What the fuck?"
--
"Uhhhh Marius, what is that?" Jordan points at the huge black box that Marius had. "It's a gift." Marius replies happily. "Is it supposed to be beeping?" He asked, concern seeping in his voice. "I'm not sure."
Jordan and Elena exchanged nervous glances. "Marius, do you mind if you give that to me for a while?" Elena asks. Marius obliges and gives no protest. She presses her ear to the box and to her growing terror, the beeping rapidly quickens. "Marius, who gave this to you?"
"Oh. It was that new operator from NIGHTHAVEN."
Everyone in the room paled from the sudden realisation. Elena dropped the box to the floor and yelled, "BOMB! EVERYONE FALL BACK!" Instantly the room was filled with the exclaimed voices of other operators: from Olivier's loud merde to Dominic's chanting of Scheiße. Elena and the others dove to the ground, palms covering ears.
To their surprise however, the box shoots a colorful barrage of confetti that showered down the operator's confused faces. "Confetti?" Max said, a couple falling down his wrist. The box was open now and cautiously everyone moved in to get a better look. It was a vanilla cake with the red cursive frosting of "Happy Birthday Marius" and strawberry toppings.
The bewildered operators stood there in silence. "So," everyone turns to Marius, "let's dig in?"
--
Unbeknownst to them, Henry had been viewing the entire ordeal with the help of Hotel-21. Due to the small size of his digital watch he decided to stream it through his laptop. His smirk grew wider and Henry chuckled in amusement.
"Happy birthday, Mr. Streicher," he raises his whiskey filled wine glass, "Happy birthday."

Henry "Babel" Adler | R6 and COD
Monk
You are a Monk, a martial artist who needs no weapon to combat evil. By harnessing your inner ki, you can be a dangerous opponent, but you prefer to use violence as a last resort, and only in defense. Your lack of worldly attachment is freeing, but you may also lack a personal connection your party shares.
Amarice "Patriot" Locke | R6
Barbarian
You are a Barbarian, an adventurer removed from civilization (save perhaps for the taverns). Your physical prowess surpasses all, and your toughness is the stuff of legend. You can be brash and a bit dim, but you can also be surprisingly perceptive and a staunch defender of those you call friends.

Operator Henry "Babel" Adler
Template by: @poisonedtruth
Tumblr media
Tw: Child abuse, suicide and cannibalism
BACKGROUND
Henry was born in an abusive household with an alcoholic small-time lawyer father and a resentful mother. He and his older sister Casey-- Cassandra-- fled their home in the middle of the night. Henry was just six and Casey sixteen.
Growing up and living in the slums and streets of Brooklyn wasn't easy. At first, they resorted to begging but soon realised it wasn't enough. His sister realised that she had to do unsavory things to keep her and her brother alive. Despite the hardships they still made happy memories with one another. One of them being Casey helping Henry make "traps" out of scrap and worn metal sheets. She knows they won't work but does it anyway for the sake of her brother's happiness.
Eventually and inevitably, the two siblings were left starving with Casey weak from the recent hard beating from a grocer who caught her stealing a few days ago making her unable to get food for her and her brother. She knows she can't bear to see her brother starve so she devised a plan. Casey slits her own wrists and softly requests a wailing Henry to "not make waste of her body."
Police arrived at the scene (thanks to a tip by a samaritan who noticed a foul odor in an alleyway) just in time to see the horrifying discovery. As Henry sat silently at the back of the police car, he realised he liked the coppery tang of blood.
He was sent back to his parents' home as an empty shell of what he was once. This did not stop his father though from whipping him and his mother damaging his emotional psyche blaming his sister's death on him. Each passing day, Henry's hate grew for his parents and realised that they were undeserving of mercy and better off dead.
His new neighbors overheard the abuse and called the authorities. Eventually police arrived and took his parents into custody. This didn't make him feel any better however and fueled his hatred even further. Why did the police arrest his parents just now? Why not back when his sister was still alive or when she tried calling for help all those years ago only to be dismissed as a "prank call?"
Life after that wasn't easy. Henry had to switch from foster home to foster home due to his "unpleasant nature." He then landed on the doorstep of one fifty-two year old Amarice Locke— a retired colonel of the Army. Despite his behavior, Amarice was patient and caring towards the young Henry. For she was reminded of her dead son Nate-- once part of a humanitarian group in Central Asia. She understands his frustrations and becomes a key figure to his immorality for she tells him that peace can only be attained by terror and violence since it leaves a scar that will remind everyone of the consequences-- an ideal that Henry abides to this very day.
As a car enthusiast, Amarice once offered Henry to assist her. Recognising his talent for complex machinery and robotics, Amarice encouraged Henry to enroll in an robotics engineering school. Henry accepted and graduated with flying colors.
He joined the Marines a few years later. His peers and instructors were uncomfortable with him and avoided him. Due to his uncanny nature, he was called "The Nut Job." After his first and last mission in the field he was discharged from the service due to a warped and apathetic morality, inhumane acts against the opposing side, consuming the blood of the deceased and other acts such as using locals and teammates as bait for the oppressive forces. How he wasn't incarcerated in a military prison is unknown; however Henry suspects Amarice had something to do with it.
He was offered a position in NIGHTHAVEN by Jamini Kalimohan "Kali" Shah after discovering his unique talents in robotics which he thoughtfully accepted. During his time in NIGHTHAVEN, Henry created the Leech(es)-- an explosive drone-unit that can be controlled and detonated at will through a modified digital watch. However Henry lost interest in NIGHTHAVEN and felt like the PMC's motives do not align with his.
After the death of Masayuki Yahata, Henry defected to RAINBOW where he was met with distrust from the other operators. Despite the many warnings from Eliza "Ash'' Cohen and Sam "Zero" Fisher, Harishva "Harry" Pandey welcomes Henry to RAINBOW insisting that he might contain knowledgeable information regarding NIGHTHAVEN's involvement of Yahata's death and other details. During his stay, Henry begins to sow seeds of distrust and chaos amongst the operators for his own personal intentions. Zero discovers this and confronts Henry in the locker room which ends in a physical fight which was prevented with the help of operators Shuhrat "Fuze'' Kessikbayev and Julien "Rook'' Nizan. Unfazed and amused by the whole ordeal, Henry taunts Zero and threatens him that he could be the Tower of Babel to RAINBOW's Shinar but chooses not to, remarking that they're lucky he hasn't come to that option yet.
Since then, Henry started adopting the moniker "Babel" as his codename.
PSYCHOLOGICAL PROFILE
Henry's callousness towards others is a shared sentiment across the other operators. Almost everyone is unwilling and reluctant should Henry be paired or added to their squad as he is known to let his Leeches cling to the backs of teammates or bait them for enemy troops to focus on. He is also unafraid for civilian blood to be shed as he purposefully stuck Leeches on multiple civilian dummies during a challenging simulation and set them off much to the outrage of Ash, Thermite and Blitz-- his teammates during the exercise. That and his literal taste for human blood has landed him in a stir with Doc who once caught him licking off dried blood from worn bandages and discarded cotton. This and his perspective on violence might be connected to an incident regarding his early childhood and death of his sister. It is rather interesting that Henry doesn't share his past with anyone implying he might show some level of trauma though it is currently unknown as he denies any form of psychological evaluation.
Henry is aware of his immorality and completely embraces it. He claims he does these horrific deeds in order to get the job done and that "violence and sacrifice is the only way for peace to be attainable." His conversations towards recruits have to be closely monitored due to his manipulative behavior and in fears of passing his beliefs unto them. He isn't bothered that half the entirety of the RAINBOW operators actively despise him. Henry made no further attempts to form a bond with other operators and preferred the company of himself.
Henry is always seen making adjustments to his Leeches in the workshop alone late at night.
PSYCHOLOGICAL REPORT
Specialist Henry "Babel" Adler truly has a dark presence. Despite the politeness he had throughout the rest of the conversation there was a playful maliceness hidden nearly well in his tone. Adler had all but a perfect childhood and the tragedy and suffering he had to endure was just terrible. No child had to go through what he experienced.
And his military career was not a pretty sight to read either. I brought the topic up regarding the causes for his discharge and the way he addressed it was unbelievable. He explained it in a very casual manner showing no sense of remorse whatsoever. It was indeed offputting and it deeply infuriated me. Though I do not tolerate this kind of apathetic behaviour from any operator, his intel made me have no choice but to bear with his coldness. His defection to RAINBOW was all but sudden and his ulterior motives are unclear, however Adler might be the key to uncovering NIGHTHAVEN.
His intel though was anything but helpful. It was obvious he was withholding a large portion of information the moment he gave me these small cryptic messages. Despite my best efforts he refused to further elaborate. I tried bringing up his past relationships with any of the NIGHTHAVEN operators but to no surprise he stated that he didn't have any personal relationship with any of the operators. "Just business associates," was all he said though he mentioned that he and NIGHTHAVEN operator Håvard "Ace" Haughland once had a brief one night stand.
I brought up his Leeches and Adler was eager to explain. He gave me a detailed description about his Leeches and its functions. And to my shock he brought one out of sleeve and began showing me the drone. That's when he gestured to his watch and told me in a very calm manner that should he press the screen the Leech will explode. My heart nearly stopped upon realising what he was implying. He assured me he would do no such thing but the fact it was a possibility to him and knowing his nature disturbs me.
I then made the decision to bring up Adler's past. To my surprise, he sat there in silence as if he were deep in thought. I began to grow concerned when a full minute had passed and not one word came out from him. Eventually he started talking only for Adler to deflect and move on to another unrelated topic regarding his Leeches' functions. I made no move to return to the topic and listened.
It's clear that deep down, Adler is hiding more than he lets on. And it's up to him whether he's willing to speak. I do hope that Adler eventually reveals more information about NIGHTHAVEN and the circumstances of Masayuki Yahata's death. But in the meantime, Adler has to be closely monitored considering the recent incident regarding the locker room.
— Dr. Harishva "Harry" Pandey, Director of RAINBOW
DEVICE DESCRIPTION
A fist-sized explosive drone unit that weighs 0.188kg (188g). The drone has a cylindrical body and retractable four rows of pointed metal with a curved end serving as the drone's "feet."  On top of the cylindrical body is a large surveillance camera with a 360° targeting area allowing for precise targeting. Despite its intended purpose as an explosive the "Leech'' can be used as an infiltration unit. The "Leech" has a unique and unexpected ability to latch onto chosen targets with the bite force of 743 psi despite its seemingly frail appearance.
Underneath all of the schematics and wiring however, exists a miniature version of the plastic explosive Composition 4, well known by its abbreviated term C-4.

R6! Babel is a huge Inuyasha fan; he loves humming the theme song and knows every lyric by heart. Had a massive crush on Sesshomaru and is a die hard Inukyo shipper.
If they aren't watching documentaries, Babel and Jager watches a couple of episodes (and to his relief, Jager becomes a fan).
--
The majority of COD! Babel's Leeches are retired military dogs. He saved some of them from shelters that were about to euthanize them.
One of Babel's Leeches however, Hotel-- a Belgian malinois, is rescued from one of his previous employers specifically a corrupt government official in France. After seeing how Hotel was badly treated, Babel snapped and killed his employer without hesitation.

Patriot has a guilty pleasure of watching soap operas. She'd would began criticizing every detail of the show (from the acting to the plot) but would slowly get immersed in it.
Dokkaebi once caught Patriot crying at her laptop. The Korean operator opted to snap a pic to show the other operators but a death glare from Patriot was all it took to make her reconsider the option.
