the amount of surprised pika “wait people actually shave their arms?” comments on posts about body hair are so funny like I unironically am so happy for you that you weren’t laughed at by a classmate for having hairy arms “like a man” in like 4th grade this is why I wish body hair conversations would stop centering around armpit hair

#okay that’s the tldr but the way I actually remember it is that the classmate (a boy) pointed out my arm hair and ask why so hairy #and I genuinely was so confused I was just like idk??? and then later at home that day I asked my mom about it and she was like #It’s bc your dads side of the family is hairy so then I later talked to that guy again like ‘I take after my dad’ or whatever #And /then/ is when he laughed and was like ‘but you’re a girl’ about it #Granted I’m non-binary but like I didn’t know that in elementary #Plus I didn’t stop shaving until around mid 2010s and was still self conscious about it for years #Like I remember feeling embarrassed during college (2018ish) if I had to use the rest room and someone else was in there when I would roll #My sleeves up to wash my hands #Anyways I eventually stopped caring about it sometime within the last year or 2 but see how long that took? It really shouldnt #Like some of us just genetically have more darker thicker visible body hair than others and we shouldn’t be shamed for it #One thing at a time though because even I’m still working through leg hair shame #I don’t shave them anymore but I also haven’t worn shorts outside of my bedroom in years #I’ll literally switch into shorts if it’s too hot right before bed and switch back into pants before stepping out of my room in the morning #I’ve been feeling cute the past few days and it’s starting to warm up again plus also had a convo w mom recently so #I might change that soon but only within the house still bc baby steps <3 #Anyways I’m just rambling now so I should stop. I don’t like when a book is trying to do an enemies to friends and/or lovers storyline and then rushes it. Like, I’m reading one rn where the two characters start making up and making friends by chapter 6. Draw it out some more yknow! Make us wonder what could possibly make these two characters ever like each other! Have one try to kill the other! Really sell the enemies part and make it realistic not just done and over with the second you wanna move on from it that’s not how it works

#I like how the folk of the air trilogy (by holly black) did it #bcus Jude’s reason for hating Cardan was her powerlessness and she got power and grew to like him over time #and Cardan hates Jude bcus he was massively into her and felt conflicted abt it and also was jealous of her family life #and then they make out #I’m reading a deadly education by naomi novik n I’m so sorry ms novik it’s just exceedingly mid #in my opinion at least I just really dislike it and I don’t plan on reading the sequel I don’t care abt these characters #and I have ways that u could get the same effect but do it differently to be better #like why emphasize the danger of the scholomance At All if Galadriel is already mega competent at surviving in there . I feel 0 stakes

ice cream ✨always✨ makes everything better!!!!

#like today… i had a seriously horrible very bad day :(#so i went out to buy like $20 worth of ice cream and now both my wallet and heart feel lighter than before!!!!!#ok fr though i needa rant about my day here in the tags just to get it all off my chest in case i snap at the interns tomorrow lol #this morning one of the mfing titration machines kept giving wonky results >:(#so i just filled its stupid job queue thing with tons of repeats so that it could just run on its own while i did other things instead #then this intern came in and said ‘i’ll take care of these few machines!!!’ and yanked the probe out of the test solution…#all while the thing was still running ಠ‿ಠ and welp time wasted? time wasted.#and this other titration units kept giving invalid blank values for the entire day which sucked bc it was our best unit >:(#then this higher up lady checked the machine and found precipitates in the burette. yeah too bad she only found it like an hour before 5 ಠ‿ಠ #that machine worked properly after it was cleaned out though. as expected of our best unit~#but while those 2 units were deceased there were 2 other units that were up and running #except this random maintenance guy halted one of the unit’s runs to do some pointless check and wasted good ol’ testing time for nothing >:(#all’s fine! we still had one unit!! :)))) right??? :))))#…yeah no. while i was out submitting some results during the last hour of the workday the computer mfing restarted itself #i came back from the dude’s office to see the computer on the lock screen. ‘haha very funny who locked this?’ i thought as i keyed in the pw #oh *no* it restarted itself. while the units were mid-run. in other words the samples had to be re-keyed in、#the then-currently running samples had to be reweighed，and i still don’t know who restarted the computer >:(#to top it all off，that intern from earlier kept wandering over to pat my back and ask ‘are you okay?’#pls i literally hate human contact pls don’t touch me you’re making this worse ಥ‿ಥ #call me ungrateful but i was pretty close to snapping on her. sorry intern. you’re the capable intern too…#unlike that intern who dropped part of the equipment into the waste container while she was supposed to be washing it >:(#i hate titration soooooooo much :( i can’t wait to try out extra dangerous titration tomorrow :(#i get to play with acids this time i think? sounds like a recipe for disaster if you ask me—#anyway sorry if you read all that lmao. stay hydrated and eat tons of ice cream for a good time ok?#mona monday

#I say this with (mild) affection because I am mid reading a new one from a series that I like but I must confess can be rather repetitive #nobody does inexplicable devout christianity (no not a fantasy analogue just actual Christianity) in a fantasy (?) setting like this author #idk I feel like there is some context to her work that I don’t understand and I don’t necessarily care to but I like the way she writes #medieval politics and magic. however I think her work lacks moral nuance and she does appear to believe in the divine right of kings #I don’t know what is up with that #I’m only not saying the name of the series because this post is kind of mean and I don’t want it to show up in the tags in case #corvid rambles
