one must sometimes spare a thought for circe. not the circe found in madeline miller's novel, but the one homer spoke about.

born to a powerful titan in the age of the olympians, a sister to thousands of siblings. yet never important enough to guard helios' cattle, never pretty enough to be married off to a human king of crete. never smart enough to stand beside her father. simply circe. young, unspecial, forgotten circe.

of how she saw kinship form for her siblings, and how strongly they loved. her mother forgotten by her father, simply another nymph, or the man she loved so dearly but who never glanced at her.

the rage that must have filled her veins when glaucus dared to appear before her and beg for a potion to trick a woman into loving him. how she loved him so purely, but was rejected and used. the regret that came when scylla no longer looked like herself, and how even then glaucus did not want her.

never good enough. replacable. easily cast out by her father, banished to an island where she will mother neither sons nor daughters, and constantly be forced to raise the daughters of gods who wanted sons.

will they become her daughters one day? will she go above and beyond to protect them as her own mother did not protect her?

what did she think, i wonder, when her niece appeared before her grasping a sword bearing the blood of her nephew? what could have possibly gone through her head when she saw the insincere look hidden within jason's eyes? i wonder if the gods told her how he scorned medea eventually, the same way glaucus did her.

and then he appears and he is everything she has ever wanted. but day and night he speaks of his wife, even as he lays in the warmth of her arms, in her silken sheets, hidden behind her wooden door held up by the walls of her home.

he sails away and that is that. another chapter. another empty nothingness.

one must spare a thought for the goddess waiting alone on the shores of a forgotten island amidst daughters she did not mother waiting for a destiny she will never find.

And speaking of 80s Goromi... I'm gonna use this post to let you guys know that I'm making a doujinshi about her and Kiryu (yeees one of the many planned doujinshi is finally going to come out lkjdshfjklshfsd ;;)!

I already got 6 pages of drawings and 3 pages of script on Google Docs ready! I'm so happy that the writing is flowing so smoothly 😭💕

I guess the reason that my brain got excited and decided to make this one before all the other doujinshi is because Y0 Majima is a sad blob and tragic character and I want to make him discovering and freeing himself through Goromi (both metaphorically and literally, because he's a prisoner in Sotenbori). And I also want to make him having hope for the future through Kiryu too :D So just by that you can already tell that this doujinshi will have angst, fluff and smut - the complete package! Can't wait to show you guys more 💕

I love Bagi.

I love her acting so much. I have loved seeing her be sweet and caring and an amazing mom to Empanada. But I love seeing her back in full investigation mode so so much!

She is so fucking smart and so good at connecting the dots. Seeing her talk to Fred was brilliant! Seeing her being more cold and calculating, giving exactly the information she wants the Federation to know and getting what she wants. She knows the Federation is desperate and needs her and she knows how to use that to her advantage.

Because this is what she does! This is what shes good at! She knows how to get people to talk and how to get the information she needs! And that smirk while talking to him?! She knows she's good at what she does and she enjoys it. Maybe she has missed this a little.

Bagi is such a badass and she also looks amazing doing all of that.

I think about Prime's Diane a lot, I think about her, I wonder if she was a good person, was she the same as C-137's Diane? Was she a good mother? A kind wife? Or was she someone who was a reflection of how Beth is now? Someone who resents having a child and being married

Last reblog kinda sums up my thoughts on Hoshi too. Like don’t get me wrong I enjoy every depiction I see of her as jacked as hell or complete brick wall

But my personal take is she’s kinda lanky with very corded, wiry muscle. The kind of physique that makes some idiot think “she looks tough but I bet I can take her” when she’s sitting at a bar, only to immediately regret that decision when she stands up and just looms over them

It’s a build that can be either amiable and approachable or overtly threatening depending on how she decides to carry herself, something she uses to great affect as an inspector who easily moves among Lungmen’s underbelly

#she’s always been a fairly Kiryu coded character to me #obviously for the Yakuza connection but more for the way they can both present themselves very differently #in how they carry themselves moment to moment #Hoshiguma #I think about her a lot

Thinking about how every time Hela shows up in a scene where she has lines she always, always reminds everyone she's the Goddess of Death, and yes it probably is just the writers going, "hey, in case you forgot-" but that's also the whole point.
