Okay so like he’d be tossing and turning until he hears your soft breathing from the other side of the bed. you’re fast asleep probably dreaming about him tbh.
He can’t help but reach over and pull you closer, chest to chest, heart to heart. Your warmth immediately easing his troubled thoughts.
His arms were wrapped firm around your sleeping form. Tired irritated eyes admiring your relaxed expression. He brought his hand to your face, pushing a stray strand of hair from out your face, his fingers ghosting over your cheek.
His fingers were calloused from all the years of having to defend himself with his hands. The same hands that battered and bruised peoples faces were privileged enough to feel your soft untouched skin. Sometimes he felt like his touch wasn’t worthy enough for you. He didn’t want to taint his sweet baby with the hands of someone who’s killed before.
But your love radiated from your heart to his soul, making him selfish, you’re his and he wouldn’t have it any other way.
He’d rather hold you with his corrupted hands than have someone else, someone who could give you a normal life, hold you close like this.
Toji loves to watch you sleep. your beauty never halts for a second, even when you’re blissfully in another world while dreaming. It amazes him more, the fact that you’re unaware of the beauty you possess in such intimate moments like these.
He went from struggling to sleep because of insomnia to willingly depriving his body of rest just to watch you.
To watch the way your chest raises and falls with every deep breathe you take. The way your face twitches, probably a reaction from your dream.
He could watch you all night. He loved you so much he’d whisper it in your ear, gently kissing the top of your head.
The silence brought thoughts into his mind, thoughts of the moments you two shared. Your first kiss, your first date, your first fight. Moments he wouldn’t have wanted to share with anyone else but you. His mind and heart raced a mile per minute. He laid there under your body, hand coming up to rub his face. He looked back down at you, pure love filling his eyes.
His thoughts shifted from questions to statements.
“Does she really want to be with me forever?” “Am I really good enough for her?”
“I’m thinking too much, she’s the one, I’m sure if it, I want her in my life forever.”
Toji was not a man of many words… he kept his thoughts to himself but he’d make it known just how much he loves you. He’d protect you and cherish you for the rest of his life.
“I love you” he whispered into your hair, bringing his arms tighter around your body, stroking your hair. His heart skipped 10 thousand beats when you nuzzled into him like a little cat curling it’s body in its sleep.
It would be early morning by the time he falls alseep, 4am. The birds outside starting to chirp little wake up tunes and his mind would clear, your soft body comforting him. You’re all he needs in life, and he wants to give you the world in return for you just being you.

MUSHY MAY pt2
Late Night Snacks featuring Rain and Phantom
Shoutout to @forlorn-crows for the prompts.
All the new guy does is each hot chip and be on his phone (please someone get this joke)
It's Phantom’s first tour cycle with everyone, his first time seeing the world and he’s beyond excited. His first show was exhilarating. It’s everything he hoped it would be. Its the only thing coursing through his infernal veins, the burn of it all, even now that he’s back at their motel room.
It's keeping him up, too excited to hear the screams and cheers all over again the next night. Even now that he’s in his sleep clothes tucked in under scratchy hotel sheets, even as Rain is lightly snoring in his sleep no less than two feet away, he feels as awake as ever. He swears he can feel the thrumming of his human heart right under his skin. He can't fall asleep like this, so he lets his eyes drift up to the ceiling– tracing the faint pattern from the strokes of paint. A futile attempt at calming down his racing mind.
The clock on the bedside table reads 2:13 in bright red LED light. There’s an ache in his eyes that wont seem to go away. Closing them feels good, but his mind won't shut off. There’s no point. Maybe some fresh air will help, he thinks. A quick and cold walk. He quietly ruffles through his backpack for his jacket and barely has a chance to get out the door when Rain rouses from his sleep. A mumbled fuck leaves his lips. He didn't mean to wake him, didn't want to.
“Where are you going?” Rain asks, voice gravely and low.
“I uhhh– don't know, I can't sleep. I need to get out.” Rain is thankful for his still quiet demeanor, not shouting his ears off like Swiss might. Almost instantly, Rain is getting his jacket on, not even bothering to change out of his pajamas. Phantom wears a soft look of confusion.
“I didnt mean to wake you Rain, go back to sleep”
“I know you didn't bug, and no I won't. I know what you need” Ominous, Phantom thinks. But he trusts Rain, so he follows as the water ghoul out the door into the dark night. Their walk is brisk, like Rain has somewhere to be. And he really does. He needs to get to the gas station so he can get the new ghoul’s attention on anything else but the rituals they have coming up.
A toothy grin sprouts on his face as he watches the indecision spread over Phantom’s face while he stares at the junk food filled shelves– it's not his fault he hasn't mastered the art of picking gas station snacks.
“I’ll pick for you this time” His hands reach for a bag of takis and cool ranch doritos, opting to not pick up something sugary for the already bouncing ball of energy. He grabs two bottles of chocolate milk too– a horror of a combination perfectly fitting for a garbage late night snack.
Rain makes him try the doritos first and makes a hurt face when Phantom says they’re just ok. The takis come second, making the new ghoul suck in breaths through his teeth in an futile attempt to cool his mouth. Rain is surprised when he says he really likes the hot chip.
They pass the bags around as they walk, silent in each other’s company except for the very loud crunches. It’s not long before they’re back in their room, only this time, Rain has Phantom’s back pressed flat against his chest. There’s some crappy late night show on that either of them are paying attention to, minds occupied by the shifting of each other's bodies as they breathe, more loud crunching, and occasional sips of chocolate milk– or what Phantom likes to call the best earthly creation besides goth music.
They eat till their hearts are content, leaving crumbs and drops before they start to slow, heavy eyes returning to Rain and just newly finding Phantom. They’re full. They’re happy. And best of all, they’re calm.
(they both may or may not wake up with tummy aches that they groan about all day. mountain tells them they're being very brave about it)

Chapter 9: Bitter Knowledge
WC: 6741 | AO3 link
Eddie startled awake with his heart racing, the same way he had at least 3 or 4 other times since he’d fallen asleep, thankful that it appeared to be morning at last.
At least he’d managed to get some rest.
Master of Puppets might have been working to keep Vecna at bay, but its associated memories were excellent fodder for nightmares. He’d spent the night running from horrifying vision to horrifying vision, and would swear that he could still feel the phantom teeth of a swarm of demobats going to town on his flesh—even now as he lay there in Steve’s bed wide awake running hands over his smooth unmarred torso.
Just to check, just to be sure.
Steve was still asleep, snoring lightly right beside him. Their hands had parted sometime in the night, but their bodies had shifted dangerously closer. As Eddie waited for his pulse to return to normal, he took the opportunity to gaze openly at the other boy in a way he hadn’t allowed himself to do since he’d come back this time.
The early morning light filtering in through the window fell directly over Steve’s face, making him appear to glow with an ethereal light. Eddie first admired his thick fan of eyelashes, fluttering every so often as Steve dreamt. His gaze then followed the curve of his cheek, wishing he could trace every mole and freckle with his fingertips—or maybe his tongue. He longed to kiss every square inch of Steve’s beautiful face, actually. Lastly his eyes raked over Steve’s plush lips—lips that he knew for a fact were exactly as soft as they looked.
With great effort Eddie finally forced himself to look away before he could give in to his impulses and do something stupid and reckless, something he couldn’t take back.
A glance at the clock showed it was 7am, almost a full two hours past the last time he’d seen those flashing red numbers and yet his tape was still playing. That meant Steve had been up at some point—recently, and taken care of it. Taken care of him.
Eddie groaned internally. One night back in the same bed and he was already well past the point of no return—it was official.
He was so in love, and he was so fucked.
This was precisely why he was trying to stay away, to keep his heart locked up tight in a box labeled: Fragile! Do not open under any circumstances!
He’d been falling, known it even before Steve had kissed him goodbye and shook his reality to its very core. Then they’d both gone and died without Eddie finding out what it had all meant. Had it been some kind of confused experiment on Steve’s part? Right up until the moment Steve had called out his name, and touched him with such tenderness as their lips met, Eddie had been sure the other boy was straight.
Was it all only some shared-trauma-forced-proximity bullshit? Or had Steve, beyond all reason, been developing real feelings for him too?
Well he’d never fucking know now would he?!
Because he was afraid. Too scared to try again in case they lost to Vecna and he had to start all over—too scared to try anyway and risk finding out Steve didn’t feel the same way about him.
How many different kinds of coward could he be?
A phone rang suddenly and sharply far too close to Eddie’s head, pulling him forcibly from his brooding. Steve jerked awake and sat up, the sound finally rousing him, and in another moment of serious fucking déjà vu, Eddie snatched up the receiver to stop the incessant noise and passed it over without a word.
The last time they’d done this, he and Steve had huddled together up against the headboard so they could both hear Jonathan and El through the phone. Now, Eddie wanted nothing more than to escape, catch his breath, think—of anything else, but most of all to stop remembering in vivid detail the line of Steve's sleep-warm body pressed up against his own.
Scrambling out of bed he fled to the bathroom, nearly slamming the door closed behind him in his bid to escape.
He turned the sink on in hopes the running water would mask the sound of his heaving breath as he hyperventilated—bringing his fist down hard against the marble vanity top repeatedly, until pain radiated up his arm to his elbow, then his shoulder. Letting the physical hurt ground him.
This was so stupid. He was so—fucking—stupid. Why was he even letting this get to him? There were far more important things to be worried about than his fucking feelings. He glanced up at the mirror, frowning at his own pale, drawn reflection. He needed to get his shit together—at least long enough to get through this, to defeat Vecna and hopefully end the loops. There'd be ample time for a nervous breakdown, with a side of wallowing in self-pity, when it was over.
He washed his face and neck with cold water, and when he felt like he’d pulled himself together enough to face the world again finally opened the door.
Steve said nothing at first. He sat on the edge of the bed drumming his fingers on his knee, a guarded look in his eyes but wearing a tentative smile. Either he hadn’t heard Eddie’s tantrum from the other side of the door, or he was going to pretend he hadn’t. In either case Eddie was grateful to not have to explain, or rather, make something up to explain.
“The phone, um, it was Joyce,” Steve said eventually. “They got to—well, I'm not sure exactly where they are, but they got there last night and El is already hard at work. They think she’ll be ready in a few days.”
“That’s good news.” Eddie offered, still hovering awkwardly in the middle of the room, trying desperately to act normal.
“And, there’s an extraction team on the way to get Hopper.”
“Really?” Eddie perked up, for real this time. He was genuinely happy to hear it. Getting the Chief back would mean everything to the party, and to Steve. “Shit, that was fast.”
“I know.” Steve’s smile widened as he rubbed the back of his neck absently. “Maybe Owens was the right call for the job after all.”
-
It was another one of those quiet days full of waiting in the build up to the potential end of the world, but unlike before when he’d enjoyed the quiet time with Steve, now it just made Eddie’s skin itch.
The kids were still at the Wheeler’s, keeping their distance—for his sake this time rather than Steve’s, though the distraction of too many people crammed into Steve’s living room might have been better than this. At least the girls were around to provide some cushion.
Mercifully, mid-afternoon Robin had a sudden need to make a visit home home, asking Steve to drive her and wait while she spoke to her parents and grabbed a few things, leaving Eddie and Chrissy alone for the first time since the beginning of this loop.
With both of their respective sources of distraction gone, Eddie thought it might be a good time to check in with her. She’d been very quiet all day, even more so than usual, and the dark circles under her eyes hinted at a significant lack of sleep.
He sat down next to her on the couch where she was curled up with a paperback she’d found somewhere, staring at the same page she’d been on for at least ten minutes.
“Hey, uh, so how are you doing with all of this? It must be a lot.” He asked carefully.
“I’m okay, I guess." She said after a moment, closing the book and setting it down on the side table. "Sleep is… difficult. I was already having nightmares, so that’s nothing new, just exhausting. It’s a lot to process. Robin has been a lifesaver though. She sits up with me when I can’t sleep, and she’ll go on and on about anything to keep me from thinking about it too much.”
Eddie almost laughed. Robin would be happy to know her ramblings were finally being put to good use.
“I’m really glad she’s been there for you.”
“Yeah, me too. I feel bad sometimes though, like, this is nothing compared to what they’ve all been through over the years. Robin’s been filling me in and it’s so awful. And you—honestly, I feel like I should be the one asking you if you’re okay.”
“Who, me?” He made a show of waving her off dramatically. “I’m fine, this is all just another week-in-the-life for me.”
“Eddie.” She scolded.
“Really, though.” He clasped his hands in his lap, looking down at them as he spoke. “Like, sure, it’s been hard, but—how many people get the chance at a do-over? Let alone multiple do-overs? I have a real opportunity to fix things here, and I feel like I have to be grateful for it.”
And he was that—grateful, but he was also miserable about the position he’d found himself in, a little bitter about it too. Why was he the one tasked to carry this burden? Why wasn’t it Steve, or Nancy who got to go back, who remembered? Either one of them would have been a better candidate for the job than him. He was the new guy! Nobody! He’d known nothing of the Upside Down until he got dragged into this madness kicking and screaming.
Chrissy ducked her head down to catch his eye, and as though she’d read his mind said, “You can be grateful and still be mad about it. You’re allowed.”
He grinned, shaking his head. Damn did he love this girl. “Yeah, I guess you’re right.”
“Have I ever, y’know before, did I ever tell you what Vecna showed me?” She asked.
“No.”
Eddie had wondered of course, but knew from Steve, and now from his own experience, how personal it could be.
“It was mostly visions of my parents and stuff. My mom, she’s awful, always on me about everything—my grades, who I spend time with, my weight, my appearance in general actually. It made me–” Chrissy shook her head, blinking rapidly as she seemed to be forcing back tears. “I don’t know why I let it affect me so much, the things she says, her opinion of me. It seems dumb, after all this.”
Eddie reached out tentatively, laying a hand on her shoulder. She gave him a half smile, leaning into the touch as she went on.
“Knowing that I’ve died—that you’ve died, it sorta puts things in a different perspective, like, what you said about do-overs? Looking back, there’s a lot I would do differently now, I think. I don’t even know how I got where I am, really. I never wanted to be popular, I just went along with the crowd, did what was expected of me—what my parents insisted on. It was easier to do that than figure out what I actually wanted, who I want to be.”
“It can be pretty scary, figuring yourself out.” Eddie offered, something he could relate to in a big, big way.
“Then suddenly I’m the head cheerleader, and Jason is captain of the basketball team—and again, it was expected that we would get together, so I did.” She shrugged, letting out a heavy sigh. “I don’t think I ever even liked him, and this whole last week while I’ve been losing my mind not knowing what was happening to me, he never once noticed that I was struggling—not once! When you met me outside by the picnic table, you knew something was wrong within seconds. You cared enough to ask if I was okay, and we barely knew each other!”
Eddie ran his hand up and down her back. “I’m sorry he was an ass, you deserved better.”
She turned to him, a steely look of determination in her eyes. “I think–I think maybe I’m ready now—to be myself, whoever that is.”
“Well, Miss Cunningham, lucky for you I know all about defying expectations and bucking the system. I’d be happy to show you the ropes when this is over.”
“I’d really like that.”
Encouraged by how freely she shared her experience with him, Eddie found himself wanting to open up too. He hadn’t spoken of his own brush with Vecna to anyone, because who could he tell really? He couldn’t talk to Steve, not now, not anymore. Robin was similarly out, for all sorts of reasons, but Chrissy—somehow he just knew he could trust her.
“Vecna… he was subtle about it when he came after me—at first, anyway. One minute I was standing in the middle of this room talking to Steve, well, fighting with him actually–”
“Fighting?”
Eddie tilted his head back and forth, waffling. He didn’t feel like rehashing those details, it was a moot point now anyway.
“We had a… difference of opinion, not important, but then suddenly he started saying these awful things to me about–” He paused, calculating how much he could share without outing Steve, so to speak.
“Between you and me—in the last loop Steve and I got, um, very close. We shared a lot of private things with each other. I’m—”
Eddie swallowed hard. He really was almost sure he could trust her, but that didn't mean fear didn’t sit like a lead weight in his gut when he thought about uttering the words aloud.
“–Gay, and I haven’t been open with many people about it, but I told him, and he was really great about it.” He smiled to himself at the memory, how quick Steve had been to assure him he was safe, and how unbelievably sweet. “So much more than you’d expect.”
Suddenly he felt her much smaller hand slide over his, and looked up to meet her eyes.
“I’m glad you told me.” She said, softly.
He pursed his lips, nodding as his shoulders began to relax by small increments.
“Anyway, Vecna used Steve’s face and voice to say some nasty shit to me about it, and uh, it fucked me up a little to be honest. He also said he knew about the loops now, since he’s been in my head. I guess It doesn’t really change anything, but it’s unnerving as hell.”
Chrissy threw her arms around his shoulders and tugged him hard into her, their faces buried in each other's hair. He’d never been cuddled so violently by someone so small before she came along, it was kind of nice.
“Is it weird of me to say that I’m happy we’re in this together? I mean, I hate what’s happened—but if it had to happen anyway, then I’m glad I got you as a friend out of it.” Chrissy spoke with her face still hidden in his neck, tone watery.
“Not weird at all,” he assured her quickly, voice cracking on the words. ”I feel the same way.”
-
Steve and Robin arrived home a while later wearing matching somber expressions. After spending some time at her house they’d swung by Nancy’s to check in with the others, and learned that poor Fred’s body had been found that morning.
It wasn’t a surprise, but Eddie still found he couldn’t concentrate on much else after learning the news, and he wasn’t the only one. All four of them were pretty subdued as they went through the motions of the night—eating some dinner and killing time until it was reasonably late enough to turn in.
When the inevitable yawning did begin, Eddie had half a mind to beg Chrissy to switch bed buddies with him. Now that she knew he would never be interested in her–that way–and now that she more-than-likely suspected that his feelings towards Steve were complicated at best, he thought she might go for it.
But what if his interference ruined whatever was or wasn’t happening between her and Robin? He didn’t want to be responsible for that, and so he said nothing as the two girls trudged up the stairs to their room—he and Steve not far behind.
-
Eddie tossed and turned, still ruminating on what his role in all this was, about Fred and the other victims. He tried to be quiet about it, hoping that Steve had fallen asleep already, but no such luck.
“What’s wrong?” Steve asked when he’d adjusted his position for the fifth time. If only he had sounded annoyed or something, then Eddie could have snapped at him that he was fine and been done with it, maybe used the whole thing as an excuse to retreat downstairs to sleep on the couch alone, but Steve, as usual, was utterly sincere, breaking through all his defenses without even trying.
Eddie sighed. “I was thinking about Patrick. I know Vecna has broken the pattern already, first with you last time, and now with me. But he took Fred just the same, and by that logic Patrick will probably still be next. I—maybe I shouldn't care since he’s one of Jason’s friends, and he was right there with them on the witch hunt for me that first time around, but I don’t know. It feels… shitty to not even try, to let it happen again. It’d be like I’m responsible.”
“It wouldn’t make it your fault.” Steve said.
Eddie groaned, throwing both arms up over his face.
“I just–what’s the point in re-living this shit if I can’t make a difference?”
“Hey,” Steve whispered, rubbing lightly over Eddie’s arm, instantly causing him to break out in goosebumps. "It’s alright, sometimes you can’t save everyone. You helped Chrissy, and if we succeed you’ll have helped the whole town. Maybe that has to be enough?”
Eddie had used the same logic before to make himself feel better where other lives were concerned, but on some level wasn’t that just a cop out? At least the others had gone out to look for Fred, not once had he or anyone else even considered trying to save Patrick.
Eddie dropped the arms from his face, forcing Steve to withdraw his hand.
“But this isn’t like Barb. I know how you feel about—”
Steve stilled, sucking in a breath.
Shit.
He’d forgotten for a second. Eddie had all this history in his head—things Steve had shared in different ways, in different times, so many conversations that the other boy would never remember having with him.
“There was nothing you could have done for her, I mean.” Eddie added quickly, relieved when Steve seemed to relax into the bed again. “It was never your fault—but this? I know it’s coming, I even know where it’s likely to happen. I wish I could at least try, but Jason would never let me near him, and even if he did Patrick would never listen to me.”
“What if I went and talked to them? I know I’m not ‘King Steve’ anymore, but I was their captain once, I think they’d hear me out. Who knows, maybe I could help Patrick and get Jason off your back somehow too.
“You would do that?”
“Eddie.” Steve sat up, inching closer, almost hovering over him as they gazed at each other. Time stood still, however briefly, and suddenly Eddie couldn’t breathe. He felt caught, as if simply looking into his eyes had given it all away, like Steve could read his every thought. “Of course I would.”
Eddie squeezed his eyes shut, rolling over and away from Steve… and his soft looks, and that soothing voice, and all his warmth.
Steve cleared his throat. “Um, because you’re right.” The bed shifted as he too rolled over to face the other way. “We should at least try. I’ll stop by Benny’s tomorrow night when they might be there.”
-
Eddie woke to find their positions had not changed in the night. They were still back-to-back facing opposite directions, and as far away from each other as was possible to be and still inhabit the same bed.
Nothing had ever felt more wrong, even if it was necessary.
His tape was quiet, Steve’s too, which caused a moment of panic until Eddie turned over—gingerly to avoid waking Steve—and found that thankfully he seemed to be deeply asleep and relaxed, rather than rigid and in the throes of a psychic attack.
Eddie slid off the bed and crept around to the other side, carefully restarting Steve's tape as he struggled to swallow around the lump in his throat. Throwing caution to the wind, just this once, Eddie ran his fingers through Steve's hair, desperate to feel it one more time, hoping it wouldn’t wake him.
“I’m sorry,” he whispered to Steve’s sleeping form, breath hitching. “I just can’t.”
Eddie left the room, shutting the door quietly behind him and vowed to spend the rest of the day, maybe the rest of this loop, avoiding Steve—as much as he could anyway.
-
It worked surprisingly well.
So well in fact that Eddie could only conclude that Steve was avoiding him too. He’d glued himself to Chrissy’s side while Steve did the same with Robin, to both girl’s joint annoyance.
It was all fine enough until afternoon came, and Chrissy decided to throw a wrench into things, as well as take a page out of Robin’s book, and make an appearance at home. It was brave, considering all she’d told him the day before, and Eddie was so proud of her, even if it meant he’d be stuck here alone with Robin while Steve played chauffeur.
The kids were slated to return that night, wanting to be together as they got closer and closer to the main event. Eddie used that as a reason to keep himself busy and away from Robin’s knowing glare—straightening up, pulling snacks out of cabinets, and gathering pillows and blankets.
“So, I think they’ll probably be back—”
Eddie flinched, startled at the sudden sound of Robin’s voice coming from directly behind him, sending the teetering pile of food packages he had balanced in his arms scattering to the kitchen floor.
“Jesus Christ—warn a guy.”
”Sorry, touchy. I’ll stomp my feet next time.” Robin rolled her eyes, stooping down to help him pick up the fallen mess. “As I was saying, Steve will probably be home soon.”
She paused, looking at him expectedly.
“And?”
“Anything you want to talk about before they get back?”
“No.” Eddie stared at her blankly, hoping if he gave her nothing she’d drop it.
“So we’re just going to pretend everything is normal, that we’re not all choking on the sexual tension in this house?”
“I don’t know what you're talking about.”
“So you don’t have a huge embarrassing crush on Steve?”
Eddie clenched his jaw. She was baiting him.
“Nope,” he declared, popping his lips.
“Okay, cool.” She narrowed her eyes. “Chrissy then?”
“I think you and I both know she’s not exactly my type.” He admitted.
“I had a hunch, good to have it confirmed though.”
“Is it safe to say she’s more—your type?”
“That would be accurate.”
He flashed her a quick smile. “I had a hunch.”
“Glad we cleared that up.” She said, tilting her head at him. “Steve knows about me, for the record. He’s very… accepting. Just, y’know, in case you ever felt like you wanted to tell him about yourself? He’d be good with it.”
“Thanks, uh” Eddie looked away, wringing his hands. “I believe you, but I–I don’t think I’ll be doing that—not anytime soon at least.”
Robin furrowed her brow, and he was sure she had more to say on the matter but for once timing was actually on his side. They heard Chrissy and Steve come through the front door before she could open her mouth again, and he took advantage of the excuse to walk away and meet them in the hall—though Robin followed right behind him, grumbling to herself.
The first thing Eddie noticed were Chrissy’s red-rimmed eyes. He worried for a moment but then he saw her broad, bright smile—could see how much lighter she looked, as though a weight had been lifted off her shoulders.
She must have confronted her parents. He couldn’t wait to hear all about it, but before he could even ask, there was a sudden knock on the door she and Steve had just come through.
All four of them were immediately on high alert. The kids weren’t due yet, not to mention the fact that if it was them or Nancy, they would have likely waltzed right in. As Eddie watched, something moved past the frosted glass of the door’s sidelight, the blurry shape of an arm clad in the all too familiar green and white of a Hawkins High letterman jacket.
What the fuck?
Steve waved the rest of them back, catching and holding Eddie’s gaze. He said nothing aloud but may as well have screamed at him to stay away from the door, assuming the role of protector as though they hadn’t spent all day in this weird limbo, not speaking, not even looking at each other.
Eddie didn’t like it, but he took the girls and backed away into the living room where they would still be able to hear whatever was said, but would be hidden from view.
Steve's feet shuffled, the door creaking as he swung it open.
“Carver, what are you–” Steve began, confirming their unexpected guest’s identity.
Jason quickly cut him off. “I want to talk to her.”
“Who?”
“Don't play dumb, Harrington. Let me see Chrissy.”
“Cunningham?” Steve asked, projecting very believable confusion. “What makes you think she’d be here?”
Eddie was mildly impressed by Steve’s acting skills.
“You tell me—is this your thing now? Couldn’t make it into college so you're poaching other guy’s girls to make yourself feel like less of a loser?”
“What? No!”
“Don’t lie to me,” Jason snarled. “I haven’t seen her since the game on Friday night, and she hasn’t been home once since then, until today. Imagine my surprise when I drove past her house only to see you sitting out front in your car waiting for her.”
“What the fuck!” Steve snapped. “Are you her boyfriend or her stalker?!”
There were grunts and more shuffling as both boys came into view. Jason had his hands fisted into Steve's shirt—backing him up into the wall across from the living room as he forced his way inside the house.
“Jason, stop!” Chrissy shouted from where she was tucked behind Eddie, Robin at her side.
He released Steve, whirling suddenly at the sound of her voice, eyes widening when they settled on Eddie.
“You!”
Jason pointed a finger, body tensing to lunge over the threshold, but before he could move more than a step in Eddie’s direction, Steve had locked an arm around his chest holding him back. He tried to maneuver his other arm around the boy’s head, in some move that Eddie was sure had a name in the wrestling world, but Jason twisted in his hold, easily slipping out of the grip. He was free again, but the effort had drawn his attention back to Steve and away from Eddie and the girls, which, knowing Steve, had probably been his only goal all along.
Steve cocked his arm back, throwing the first punch, to Eddie’s shock—his fist glancing off the edge of Jason's jaw. It was enough to turn his head but nowhere near enough to put him down.
Jason retaliated, landing a shot to Steve’s cheek and another punishing blow right in his eye—he was going to have one hell of a shiner later, or worse.
Chrissy screamed Jason’s name again, begging him to stop, and tried to step around Eddie. He stopped her, gently guiding her back into Robin’s arms before joining the fight himself.
In a few quick strides he was there, catching Jason around the wrist as he pulled back for yet another punch. Squeezing, Eddie put as much pressure around the bone as he could. It wasn’t hard to find the strength or motivation, remembering how it’d been Jason's fault that Steve died last time around.
“That’s enough,” Eddie growled into his ear.
“Don’t touch me!” Jason shrieked, trying and failing to pull himself out of Eddie's grasp. Panic filled his eyes for a moment, then he rammed his shoulder into Eddie’s chest as hard as he could.
The hit to his sternum shocked Eddie into letting go, losing his balance in the process and causing him to fall hard on his back to the floor. On instinct he curled himself into a ball, protecting his middle from the kicks he was sure were coming—it wouldn’t have been the first time—but they never did.
“Get the hell out of here before I call the cops, Carver.” Steve shouted.
Eddie raised his head to see that Steve had somehow managed to move Jason back towards the still open front door, at the same time Chrissy and Robin appeared at his side helping him up, and the three of them flanked Steve as best they could in the narrow hallway.
“And tell them what? You hit me first!” Jason shouted.
Steve reached up to tenderly touch his already inflamed eye, and winced. “It’ll be our word against yours. Who do you think they’re gonna believe?” He punctuated his point by giving Jason one last shove out the door and onto the landing, spitting blood at his feet—red splattering his white sneakers.
A look of revulsion flashed across Jason’s face, but he stood his ground, gesturing at Chrissy. “I’ll leave when she tells me to go.”
Eddie couldn’t believe it, how fucking delusional was this guy?
Chrissy gaped, sharing his disbelief, and threw her hands up. “I already told you to go! It’s over, Jason.”
“Chrissy, baby, are you really leaving me for Harrington? Or worse, Munson?!”
She shook her head, nose wrinkling with disgust. “I’m leaving you—for me. Now get the hell out of here, and leave us alone!”
“You’ll regret this.” Jason growled.
“Right now, the only thing I regret is ever thinking you were a good guy.”
With that, Jason finally stormed off to his Jeep, the four of them watching as he drove away until the car was out of sight.
When they were safely back inside Chrissy broke down, gently weeping while Robin held her, assuring her that it was okay, that it was over now.
Eddie went right for Steve to assess him for damage, and though it’d been a short fight he didn’t look so great. He was bleeding a little from his lip and one of his eyes was rapidly swelling shut.
“Come on." Eddie took Steve’s arm, steering him towards the stairs. He’d gone quiet the minute Jason had left and seemed a little out of it now. "I’ll help you get cleaned up.”
-
Eddie guided Steve through his own bedroom to the bathroom, sitting him down on the closed lid of the toilet—an ironic reversal of roles from the last loop that wasn’t lost on him—and crouched to pull the first aid kit out from under the sink.
The moment he set it up on the counter the phone began to ring in the other room. He glanced at Steve, but the other boy gave no reaction, as if he didn’t even hear it. Eddie chewed his lip. He would have let it go but they hadn’t heard from Joyce since the morning before. It could be important.
He hurried out to answer it.
“Hello? Uh, Harrington Residence.”
“Oh! Eddie? Honey, it’s Joyce. Sorry I was expecting Steve.”
"Yeah, he’s–uh,” Eddie hedged. “Is everything alright there?"
“The whole process has been pretty tough on El, but she’s doing well—she's almost ready. Owens wants to make sure we’re gone before that raid you told us about happens. They're flying us to Hawkins tomorrow, as soon as Hopper gets here.”
“No shit? He’s really—they got him out?!”
Joyce let out a soft wet laugh. “I know, it’s unbelievable. I didn’t get to talk to him yet myself, but the Doc swore to me that he’s alive, safe, and on his way here.”
“That’s great news, I can’t wait to tell Steve.”
“How’s he doing? He gets so focused on everyone else when these things happen that he forgets to take care of himself.”
“Haven't noticed,” Eddie mumbled under his breath. “He’s okay, I think. We had a minor… altercation today. Nothing Upside Down related exactly, just regular humans being shitty, but–”
“He got himself hurt, didn’t he?”
“The guy, he was–” Eddie gripped the receiver, shaking his head. “He was going to come for me, but Steve pulled him back. Got his face bashed in for his troubles.”
“Poor thing. You’ll take care of him, won’t you?”
“Yeah,” Eddie forced out through a painful tightening in his chest. “I’ve got him. Don’t worry.”
He hung up and quickly returned to the bathroom, heart dropping when he found Steve now on the floor with his head between his knees, breath coming in short gasps. Eddie threw himself down, kneeling in front of him, running hands up and down Steve’s arms—his skin cool and tacky.
Fuck, he’d been gone for too long—never should have left him alone like this in the first place.
“Oh, sweetheart. You’re alright,” Eddie cooed. “Hey, can you look at me—please?”
Steve slowly raised his head, blinking tears away as he looked up at Eddie with his one good eye, the other now completely swollen shut—bruise darkening by the minute.
“There you are.” Eddie forced a smile, even though the sight of Steve banged up like this and in tears only made him want to break down too. “Take some slow breaths with me, Stevie. Can you do that?”
He had absolutely no idea what he was doing, only trying to imitate what Steve had done for him once upon a time.
Steve gave a shallow nod, holding his gaze as they breathed together.
“That’s it, you’re doing so well.”
They spent several minutes just like that, the rest of the world outside this room ceasing to exist until Steve was calm and his face dry.
When it seemed safe to move, Eddie rose to his feet, freezing when Steve’s hand shot out to grasp his.
“Don’t–” Steve choked out.
“I’m not going anywhere,” Eddie assured him, cupping the unhurt side of Steve's face gently with his free hand. “Just bringing the first aid kit down to the floor here so I can clean you up.”
“Oh.”
Steve let him go, watching quietly as he worked, his eye never once leaving Eddie’s face.
He tried not to stare back, cheeks growing hot, his own heartbeat thrumming loudly in his ears as he focused on cleaning Steve’s skin and disinfecting the split on his lip.
“You need ice,” Eddie whispered breathily when there was nothing more to do and Steve was as patched up as he was going to get. He stashed the first aid supplies back under the sink, rushing out a quick, “I’ll be right back,” before escaping downstairs.
On his way to the kitchen he caught sight of the girls cuddling up on the couch. Chrissy’s head was in Robin’s lap and they spoke softly while Robin ran fingers through the other girl's hair.
He quietly grabbed a bag of peas from the freezer, trying not to disturb their moment, and crept back upstairs.
Steve was right where he had left him on the floor, looking mildly more himself. Eddie gulped, kneeling again as he held the frozen bag of vegetables up to Steve’s face and tried to breathe evenly.
“Thank you.” Steve said, raising a hand up to cover his, helping to hold the ice pack in place, making his heart race impossibly faster. “And I'm sorry about freaking out.”
“Please don’t apologize,” Eddie said quickly, biting down on his lip as he took his hand away. He sat back on his heels to put a little more distance between them, the proximity beginning to make him dizzy.
Steve leaned his head against the wall, staring up at the ceiling. “I don’t know what happened, it wasn’t even a bad fight, I just—I got stuck in my head I guess, thinking about the last time my eye got fucked up like this.”
“Starcourt?” Eddie guessed.
“Yeah.”
“You know, before it was me that Jason beat the shit out of, but what I didn’t tell everyone during storytime was how, as soon as I got here and you saw my messed up face, you brought me into this room and fixed me up—set my broken nose for me and everything. Then I proceeded to have a full-on blubbering meltdown right where you’re sitting now. I hadn’t even explained anything yet, you had no idea what I was doing here and yet you cleaned me up and talked me down from a panic attack, no questions asked.”
Steve stared at him, frowning.
“I guess what I’m saying is, I’m happy to return the favor.”
Slowly, inexplicably, Steve’s frown morphed into a smile, then into a laugh as he pitched sideways.
Eddie’s mouth dropped open. “I’m almost afraid to ask, but what’s so funny, Harrington?”
“I can’t believe you let me set your nose!” Steve exploded, still chuckling. “You’re lucky that was in the last loop, that shit definitely would have healed crooked.”
“But—wait—what?!” Eddie sputtered. “You said you’d done it a bunch of times!”
“No man, I’ve had It done for me before, but I don’t know what I must have been thinking! Maybe I knew you wouldn’t get it checked out so it would be better than nothing?”
“I absolutely would not have gone to the hospital, so you’d have been right about that.” Eddie replied and finally broke, laughter spilling out of him now too. It was so absurd, and maybe it was because they were tired, and it’d been a rough day in a long string of even rougher days, but their mutual hysterics built and built until they were both clutching their sides.
-
By the time they made their way downstairs the kids and Nancy had arrived, and Eddie filled everyone in on Joyce’s most recent call, minus the details about Hopper of course, though he had shared that with Steve.
For once the pieces were all falling into place, the fight with Jason notwithstanding, and for better or worse, Eddie let himself get caught up in the hopeful atmosphere as everyone celebrated the news that in less than 24 hours their whole group would be together again.
After a long night of laughter, popcorn fights and a movie marathon, everyone had fallen asleep wherever they landed. Nancy, Robin, and Chrissy on one couch, Eddie and Steve on the other, and all the younger teens and Erica in a giant nest of blankets in the middle of the floor.
Eddie wasn’t sure how long he’d been out when a series of loud bangs pulled him from sleep. He blinked, looking around for a moment confused until he remembered where he was. The living room was still cloaked in darkness, no light coming in through the windows, the sun only just beginning to rise.
It happened again, louder this time, and Eddie realized it was someone knocking—hard. Steve jerked upwards hearing it now too, his concerned eyes meeting Eddie’s. Instantly they were both on their feet and rushing to the door.
It was too dark to see anything through the glass. Eddie couldn't imagine it was Jason coming back for round two, not at this hour, but Steve was apparently taking no chances—pulling his nail bat out of the nearby umbrella stand as he set his hand on the deadbolt.
Eddie hadn’t even realized he’d brought it downstairs.
Steve unlocked the door and swung it open, revealing a thin man with short buzzed hair standing in the doorway. He wore a dirty blue jumpsuit, and what little bare skin showed was covered in a layer of sweat and grime.
There was something familiar about the man’s face. Eddie squinted, urging his sleep addled brain to get with the program, when suddenly it clicked.
“Hop?” Steve asked, voice trembling as he also put two and two together.
The man—Hopper, looked at Eddie curiously before swinging his gaze back to Steve, and smiled.
“Hey, kid.”

Hi bestie! Can you do a seb drabble about what it would have been like to fall in love w/seb during his rbr days?? 😭 maybe they fell in love while they both worked for the team? Ty in advance ❤️
you had started working for red bull when seb was in his prime, already two world titles won and still gunning for more. you had been appointed as his media manager, meaning you spent a lot of time together preparing for interviews and stuff like that. you were aware that some people weren’t a fan of seb due to his ruthless winning mentality, but you weren’t one of those people.
as soon as you’d joined the team he’d been so warm and welcoming towards you. you were both still very young so you had lots in common which made your job ten times easier and significantly more fun than you thought it would be. the two of you became best friends, glued at the hip whenever he wasn’t needed for meetings and racing. you discussed the hardships that came with being a part of formula one, not seeing you family or friends very often, but feeling very fortunate to work where you did and get to travel the world. seb would always insist that you got flights together, he would say it was to ‘prepare more’ for the weekend but in reality he just felt safe and warm whenever he was around you.
this one particular flight was long, you’d been sat watching a movie with seb when your eyes started to droop. the next thing you knew you were being woken by soft snored coming from above you. your eyes blinked open slowly, taking in the position you found yourself in. a pair of strong arms were wrapped around your middle and a head was resting against yours, the source of the sounds that woke you from your sleep. seb was sleeping soundly, the warmth from your body lulling him to sleep. in his defence, you’d fallen asleep first, cuddling into his side subconsciously. your actions made seb’s heart beat faster in his chest. he’d been aware of his feelings for you for a while but tried to suppress them in order to focus on his racing. plus, he didn’t want things with you to be awkward when the two of you had such a good time together.
your hands ran softly through his ruffled blonde hair, causing his eyes to flutter open and then widen at how close your faces were together. it must’ve been your sleep clouded brain that told you this was a good idea, being so openly touchy with the guy you’d figured you had feelings for months ago. you’d ignored your feelings in order to keep things professional, you didn’t want to jeopardise your job in any way. but right now he looked so good that you didn’t care. ‘good morning sleepy head,’ your fingers continued their course across his head, settling to play with the hairs at the nape of his neck. ‘good morning gorgeous,’ seb had always been flirty with you, but he’d never called you gorgeous before.
his eyes were focused on your lips, and before you had the time to look down to his, they were already on yours. it was soft, tentative, almost as if he were worried you would reject him. but there wasn’t a single part of your brain that didn’t want this. you lips moved in harmony with his own, and your body felt like it had electricity coursing through its veins as you learnt further into his body. you both pulled away breathless, smiling as you looked into each other’s eyes. you still had a couple of hours of the flight left, and boy was it going to be eventful.

Tears of Rain - Chapter 3
Tumblr media
Josh x f!reader
Summary: Living in a small, New England town, daily life was rarely ever exciting for you. It lent comfort and peace with few neighbors, beautiful nature and scenery and a calming reliability with each new day. Things were starting to feel a little stagnant and lonely for you despite how much you enjoyed living here. One summer morning a beautiful stranger might have changed everything for you.
A/n : This is my first fanfic work and everything written here is intended to be read as complete fiction with upmost respect for the real people these characters may be based on. I do not know the guys personally and don’t intend for this to reflect on them as real people in any way.
Warnings: swearing, This chapter contain 18+ content MINORS DNI!, penetrative unprotected sex, oral (f!receiving), its starting to get smutty y’all.
You thought you may have been asleep for awhile but each time you glanced over at the red digital numbers that seemed to glare back at you, only minutes seem to pass. Since the moment you left town the night before, Josh had not left your mind for a single second. You keep replaying his perfect smile in your head, the warmth of his tongue on your kiss-swollen lips, even the way he tasted and smelled. No other man has ever been close to making you feel the way Josh. Now you found yourself dancing dangerously close to the edge of falling completely for a man you’ve barely known for twenty-four hours. If your current self told you past self that this was happening, you would have laughed hysterically in your own face. What the fuck is going on with me?
Even your beloved pets were picking up on your sudden change in demeanor the moment you walked through your front door. Ollie had been on edge since you came home, and Beau never left your side throughout the night. Both of them were now curled up in the bed with you, taking up more than adequate amount of space. Which, of course, did not help the lack of any beneficial sleep problem you were currently facing.
You couldn’t help yourself from letting the racing thoughts take over your mind again. You had barely fought against the overwhelming temptation to somehow hold onto a shred of any self-control last night. If you had any alcohol in your system, there would be no doubt in your mind that Josh would have been lying in bed with you this morning. He was a forbidden fruit just dangling in front of you, and the universe was taunting you to take a bite.
You honestly didn’t shame yourself for wanting to sleep with him. You had slept with men on the first date before, but it mostly out of need for physical affection than actually being interested in them to any degree. You liked Josh. A lot. And that was the problem. You were almost terrified that if you did cross that line, the entire thing would crumble into pieces in front of you. You didn’t necessary hold emotional value to sex like some people might, but the honesty within your mind knew you would fall right into that pit with Josh. There was something about him and you weren’t confident in yourself that it would just stay casual if things came to that.
You finally decided you couldn’t lay in bed any longer. You needed to pee, the cat was wedged uncomfortably between your legs and Ollie was snoring way too loud for you to even attempt to fall back asleep. It was early and the sun hadn’t even risen yet, but it didn’t seem to matter with the amount of energy you were getting from Josh consuming your all your thoughts. I feel like such a teenager obsessing about a crush.
You filled your morning with as many tasks as you possibly could. You managed to almost drink an entire pot of coffee, bake a batch of homemade banana nut muffins, clean your entire house, put away all your clean laundry and finish your rounds with the animals -all before eight a.m.
It was when you were tending to your vegetable garden that you heard the first ping come from your phone that was tucked into pocket of your sleep shorts. You caught yourself grinning like a madman from the idea of Josh texting you early in the morning.
Morning, love! Hope you slept well. I’ll be free all day so just send me an address and a time you’d like me to come over. Can’t wait to see your beautiful smile :)
You didn’t wait to send him a response right away, giving him your address and that noon worked for you. You were feeling so giddy that you wanted to dance right there in the garden, as if you weren’t elbows deep in your tomato plants. He made you feel alive- excited to enjoy all the little things with another human.
You finished up tending to the rest of your plants, washing off your harvest you picked and headed back inside to freshen up for the rest of the day. You didn’t have a neighbor for at least a mile in either direction, so you were still dressed in your pajamas. Sometimes the idea of being so isolated left you feeling a little lonely but most of the time you relished in the freedom.
The outfit of choice for the day was a white sundress with a blue floral print that hugged around your curves in the best way. The neckline just barely teased your cleavage - something that Josh has yet to see from you. You opted out of wearing a bra, more so out of comfort with the summer weather in full swing. A white cotton thong slipped underneath finished the ensemble, due to the fact that you could see anything darker through your almost sheer dress.
You kept your makeup to a minimum, sticking with some mascara and a soft pink blush across your cheeks to make your skin glow. The plans for the day consisted of being outside so heavier makeup was not ideal, even if you wanted to surprise him with it.
It took you about an hour to get dressed and ready for your afternoon with Josh, but then you realized it was still only a little past ten in the morning. You decided on grabbing one of your favorite books off the bookshelf and made a glass of iced tea. Nestled in to the couch, it didn’t take long for Beau to join you, settling on your chest so he could bump his nose into your hands that held your paperback. With the lack of sleep the night prior and Beau’s warmth and consistent low purring on your chest, sleep started to quickly overtake your body.
You were jolted awake with knocks hitting on your screen door, sending Beau scurrying across the living room floor in a panic. It took you a moment to orient yourself with your surroundings as you grabbed your phone - it read 12:13. Shit. Josh! Your upper body reacted quicker than your feet and you stumbled over the coffee table trying to get up from the couch.
After a few seconds collecting yourself, you finally turn the corner to face your front door. Josh was waiting patiently on the other side of the screen, his back turned towards you as he looked around the property.
“Hey, you!” Your voice was still groggy and heavy with sleep from your nap. He quickly turned as you opened the creaky screen door open to greet him.
“Hey! Sorry I’m a few minutes late. I was trying to get an Uber but this old man-shit i forgot his name- insisted that he could drive me here. I think his exact words were ‘That shit is a goddamn waste of money, boy’ and ‘stop trying to pay me, dammit. I’m just trying to get away from the old lady’” the last part falling into Josh’s best impression of the grumpy old man. “Shit. Did I wake you?”
“You’re fine. I didn’t expect to I fall asleep while I was reading. That definitely sounds like Bill though.” You laughed.
“Bill! That’s it. I will admit that was one of the most interesting rides I’ve ever had to take.” He huffed out in laughter to join you. “These are for you. I managed to find a decent bottle of wine… I think?” He extended his hands out to you, offering you a bottle of white wine that you knew he picked up from the only liquor store in town and the other had a bouquet of assorted flowers.
“This is wonderful, Josh. Thank you. Here, come on in.” You nudged the door open even more with your elbow before he caught it with his hand.
“You have a beautiful place here, y/n.” You led him through the hall to the kitchen that sat near the back of the house on the first floor. He lazily followed you with zero urgency, distracted by checking out all the small details of your home.
“Thanks. She’s a humble one, but I really love it here.” You chimed as your laid the bottle and the wrapped bouquet of flowers on your small kitchen island. You let him scope out the place while you searched for a glass vase in your cabinets.
“It’s more than humble, love. You should brag about this place as much as you can.” Josh’s voice grew louder as he made his way into the kitchen to join you. You paused your movements as soon as he walked through the doorframe, everything felt surreal to see him just standing here right in front of you. In your kitchen.
You cleared your throat as you cut the stems of the various flowers. “How do you feel about checking out a creek and having a little picnic with me? I can show you around the place when the sun starts to go down a little bit.”
“I’m up for anything you’d like to do, mama. Just tell me what I can help you with.” He flashed you wink with his heart-melting smile. You could’ve sworn your knees actually threatened to give out on your for a second.
You kept him busy with tasks of helping you pack a food basket for your picnic together. You had him cut up various meats and cheeses while you washed and sliced some fruit and vegetables. He helped you pack it all up, topping the basket with the loaf of fresh bread you bought at the farmer’s market the day before. You ended up packing a second cooler with the wine Josh had brought, a freezer pouch and two plastic cups.
“You mind if he comes?” You nodded to Ollie that was happily trotting between the two of you as you made your way to the Chevy.
“I don’t think I’m the one calling the shots here.” Josh teased, raising his eyebrows at your furry companion, who was already waiting patiently at the driver’s side door.
“As long as you know.” You teased back, setting the basket and a spare blanket into the bed of the truck. Josh nestled the cooler bag next to it so it wouldn’t move around as you drove to the creek.
You pulled the truck into drive, Josh sitting in the passenger with Ollie squeezed between the two of you in the small cab. These small moments really made you feel like you could have a future with him, they felt so real and genuine. He was at ease as an old country song blasted on through the radio while Ollie licked on his face for his attention. He even started to sing along to the songs that played on the radio, and you couldn’t help but be surprised and amazed at his voice.
“You’re a really good singer, Josh.” Raising your voice just loud enough to cut through the music playing from the truck. The compliment made him flush to the point that it seemed to fluster him. His eyes caught yours and you couldn’t quite place the look the spread across his face. Did I just embarrass him? You turned the volume down slightly before continuing, “I hope that didn’t embarrass you. I just think you’re very talented.”
“You didn’t.” He reassured with a closed smile, “Thank you, appreciate that.”
The creek you had mentioned was one that cut through the back end of the property so it didn’t take long to get there by driving. Over the years, your grandfather had created a dirt road that led back to it since there wasn’t any access from a public road.
You were grateful that the moment you arrived, the strange feeling you had just shared had dissipated instantly. People could be sensitive and shy about singing or performing in front of others and that’s what you decided to brush it off as. Josh quickly hopped out of his side of the Chevy and Ollie immediately followed behind him.
“This place is truly beautiful, y/n.” Josh gasped, pausing to look around with his forearms resting on the metal bed of the truck. He had worn the same white t-shirt he had on when he first met you, but traded out the long khaki pants for a pair of faded green shorts. They gave you a chance to check out his toned legs, but you hoped he wouldn’t catch your lingering glances.
“It’s really peaceful up here. When I was younger I would come up here with my cousins and we would spend all day trying to catch crawfish and salamanders.” You chuckled to yourself from the memory that was flooding back into your mind. They were some of the happiest moments of your childhood.
“I bet I could catch way more than you. I’m kind of an expert in that field.” Josh boasted proudly to himself.
“Oh yeah? You? Mr. I-wear-white-to-everything?” You goaded, rolling you eyes at his claims while you grabbed the basket out of the truck.
“Okay, first of all? You are also wearing white today.” Josh waving a pointed finger up and down your figure-the action instantly making you blush. “And second, don’t let my attire fool you. I’m pretty sure my mother believes I’m half feral.”
“Somehow I’m not surprised by that one bit. Although I do think we are going to have to save the crawfish hunting for another time.”
“That’s something someone who is afraid to lose would say.” He teased, wiggling his eyebrows at you as he joined your stride towards the worn bath to the creek bed.
“You’re a dumbass.”
You both trekked the small distance to your favorite spot along the creek, the sound of the cool water rushing over the stones and soaked logs instantly calmed any nerves you had. They were better today than they were last night on your date. Partially because you were in your element this afternoon, and away from any prying eyes that were around every corner in town.
You and Josh set up your picnic on a large flat rock that had an overhang to the creek, allowing you to put your feet in while you sat dry on the edge. You laid out the worn blanket to pad yourself against the dirty surface. You both divvied up the selection of foods you prepared and popped open the wine to share between you.
“Just warning you that the water is probably freezing cold still.” You warned Josh as he settled next to you and started slide his shoes off his feet
“I grew up in Michigan, mama. I’m pretty sure the water there is always fucking freezing.” He laughed, sticking his feet right into the running water below you. He let out a sharp hiss between his teeth the moment his skin made contact. “See? It’s perfect.”
“Oh yeah? Perfect?” You couldn’t hold back the snicker that escaped your mouth, and stifled it quickly with a a bite of a strawberry.
“Keep that up and I’m going to throw you in there.” Josh nudged your arm, throwing you off balance just enough to startle you. You shrieked and grabbed his bicep out of instinct to save yourself. The strength of the muscle underneath your touch left your body flushing with desire.
“Hey! Hey! I promise I’ll be good!” You yelled out, which turned into a fit of laughter for you both. You slipped off your shoes as well and dipped your feet into the cool water, which instantly sent a chill throughout your body. It took only a few minutes for you skin to acclimate while you brushed your toes on the smooth rocks.
The sunlight was poking through the tops of the trees which blessed your afternoon with an ideal amount of shade. Birds chirped loudly, filling the space around you with their songs with the constant sounds of the running water. Ollie was busy running through the creek bed beside you both, wetting the underside of fur on his belly. You found yourself enjoying the breaks of conversation with Josh, letting him take in the moment beside you. You sensed him taking in deep breaths of the fresh mountain air that you might have taken for granted lately. You witnessed the tranquility wash over him. He really does love it here.
“Thank you for taking me out here, y/n. I’ve been so wrapped up in the hustle of traveling from city to city that I forgot what this is like.” He hummed, sipping on the wine from one of the old plastic cups you brought.
“Of course. I enjoy sharing it with someone finally.”
“Finally? Have you not been dating anyone?” The question surprised you, and you really hadn’t thought about telling him your dating history.
“Not really. I’ve been on a few dates over the years but nothing really stuck I guess.” You admitted. He was now looking back over to you, his caramel-colored eyes scanning your features in admiration.
“I feel extra lucky now.” Josh breathed and leaned over to give you a chaste kiss on the cheek. “If I’m being honest, I’m still surprised you’re single. When I talked you at that farmers market yesterday I expected your husband or a boyfriend to come beat me up or something.”
“Pffft! No way. I can’t imagine myself being married right now.” You scoffed at the idea.
“Y/n, you are a knockout.” You started to shake your head in denial before he grabbed your chin to halt your movements, forcing you to look at him. “I’m serious. You are beyond beautiful. I truly believe the universe aligned for me yesterday.”
Your brain failed to form any coherent words in response to his admiration of you. You just settled on staring into his honey brown eyes as they studied your face. His messy curls laid softly on his forehead and framed his cheeks in the most perfect way. The intimacy of it was almost too much to bear for you, taunting you to look away from him. The closeness allowed you to take even more intricate details of his face. Things like how his long eyelashes cast shadows on his flushed skin, the tiny gap in between his two front teeth that seemed to give his smile even more character, to the small dimple that was nestled on only one side of his cheeks.
His grasp on your chin had softened to him rubbing the pad of his thumb lightly across the skin there. He had started to lean forward to kiss you when Ollie barked loudly -startling the both of you out of your trance- and darted into the woods to probably chase a small animal.
“Shit! That scared the hell out of me!” Josh huffed, breaking his hold on you so he could lean back on on the rock he sat on. “Should we be worried about him running off?”
“Nah, he’ll be back. He probably knows the area better than I do I think.” You chuckled and took as large sip of wine before it started to warm in your hands.
Josh and you continued on with your conservations, picking at the food you had splayed out across the blanket. Ollie had come back after a few minutes from when he had startled you, now resting on a rock that the sunlight was hitting. You let the time pass without checking your phone and Josh never gave you any indications of wanting to leave. You would occasionally take breaks from sitting on the large rock to scan the creek bed for pretty stones as you talked.
The interactions with Josh had started to become effortless, as if he wasn’t a stranger you had met only a day prior. It almost scared you with how easily he was fitting into your world. You wondered if he was just adaptable and bonded with anyone that he interacted with, or this was special between the two of you.
Every-time you fell back into the thoughts circling in your mind, his infectious laughter always seemed to hook you right back to him. You were simply drunk from Josh, and the addiction might soon take you over.
Josh and you spent the next few hours chatting about anything that would pop in your head. The topics would vary anywhere from the silly Halloween costumes you would dress up in, to high school romances that left you awkward and heartbroken, to even your favorite books that you had and shared. The only thing that pulled you away from you conversations was the roll rumble of thunder from off in the distance.
“Shit, I guess I was wrong about the weather being nice today.” You cursed to yourself, saddened by the reality that you had to wrap up your picnic with Josh. Although, when you checked your phone you realize that almost four hours had passed since you left the house.
“You think its close?” He had begun slipping his socks and shoes over his feet in preparation of having to get out of there soon.
“Yeah, by the sound of the thunder the storm is a few miles away. We probably have like ten minutes before it reaches us so we should get going.” Josh helped you pack up the leftover food and supplies, skipping on trying to make it organized within the basket. Ollie was pacing around you since the thunder boomed on the horizon, pacing from his uneasiness he had from storms.
By the time you made it back to the truck, storm clouds were hanging overhead. The sun had been completely covered, casting a dark haze across the sky. The wind had started to pick up while you and Josh loaded the inside of cab, whipping your dress around your legs as heavy raindrops hit the metal body of the Chevy. Both of you quickly climbed in with Ollie already sitting in the center of the seat.
The rain was beating so hard on the windshield that the wipers couldn’t even keep up clearing the water off its surface. You aren’t really able to see anything and it almost worried you if you could make it back to the house if it wasn’t for muscle memory of your own property. You looked over at Josh and broke out into a fit of laughter knowing that the two of your were going to be soaked the instant you stepped out of the Chevy.
“You ready?” You breathed into the confined space and Josh nodded in response while biting his lip as Ollie panted out of anxiousness beside him. You both had your hands grasped onto the metal handles, ready to run as fast as you could to the shelter of your porch.
The summer storm was now in full force, dark ominous clouds had casted completely over the sun that was set high in the sky only moments prior. Water was rushing out of the metal gutters on the house, sending walls water in miniature streams through paths in the grass.
“1…2…3!” With the last number, both of you shot out of your seats with Ollie jumping out behind you. You ran as fast as you could, but the wet grass didn't allow you to get a solid footing and you almost slipped if it wasn’t for Josh grabbing onto your arm to balance you. Your furry-now sopping wet companion was standing patiently for you on the porch.
You both kicked off your shoes on the porch and ran inside the house, laughing hysterically at how soaked you were from the rain as you made your way into the dark kitchen. As you turned your body around, Josh’s laugh immediately stopped as he saw your form in front of him. It was in this moment that you quickly realized that the white sundress was now translucent- sticking to every inch of your wet skin and leaving little to the imagination.
His shirt had mimicked your dress, clung to his lean form and showcasing all the muscles of his abdomen to you. It felt like years had passed as you both looked over each other, panting from exertion and lust within in the small space. The only other sound filling the room other than the heavy breathing was heavy rain hitting the roof. You hadn’t even had a chance to flip on the light, leaving the room in a blue haze. Although he was standing only a few feet from you, every part of you ached to have him closer to you.
“Josh…” His name fell from your mouth as a breathless whisper as your eyes locked onto his, now darkened completely with lust. Before you had a chance to finish another thought, Josh’s lips crashed into yours. His hands instantly wrapped around the nape of your neck, weaving effortlessly through your dripping hair to pull you into him as close as possible.
You invited him into your mouth without wasting a second, the warmth of his tongue against yours was an intoxicating contrast to the coolness of your damp skin. He tasted sweet with the white wine and strawberries lingering on his mouth and you simply couldn’t get enough of it. The kisses were full of desperation and neediness this time, abandoning all hesitancy he had before. He had pushed the small of your back up against the edge of the kitchen island with his body aligned perfectly with yours, skin and clothing sticking together.
He broke his mouth away, pulling your bottom lip gently between his teeth, and continued to leave open wet kisses across your cheek and jawline. “You have no idea how badly I’ve wanted to do this all day, mama.” The admission tumbled out of him as a breathy groan into the shell of your ear, his breath sending a chill down your back.
“Josh, I want you.” Your own whine instantly flipped a switch in him, and he bent down to to wrap his hands around the back of your thighs-signaling you to jump up around him. He wrapped your legs around his waist and intended to carry you out of the kitchen but stopped after a few steps to crash you into another counter.
“Fuck it. I just can’t wait another second to have you.” Josh groaned loudly against your neck, his warm breath fanning across the cool damp skin. You honestly couldn’t have cared less where this happened. You probably would have let him have you outside in the mud with the rain pouring down on you.
Josh’s mouth was still connected to the crook of your neck, sucking and biting along one of your most sensitive spots. He eased the sting of mark with his tongue, causing you to moan loudly with every lick. His hands had made quick work on the small buttons that adorned the front of your sundress. His forehead fell and rested in the crook of your neck while he gently pulled back the front panels of your dress, revealing your entire chest to him. Josh’s fingertips traced along your soft skin, causing little goosebumps to form. Your own fingers found their spot diving into his wet curls that were now sticking to his face and neck, tugging the hair from his scalp.
He groaned against your skin from the action of your hands, taking in the thin skin of your collarbone within his teeth. It made you hiss in pleasure, and you wrapped your legs around him to pull his hips flush against you. He began to lick down your bare chest, taking one of your breasts into his hand. His thumb grazed gently over the hard nipple, making your entire body shudder from the simple touch. You felt him smile against your skin before he swiped a flat tongue over the other, causing a moan to slip from your lips.
He took your hardened nipple into his mouth, swirling over with his tongue as he massaged the other in his hand. He couldn’t hold back the whines that escaped with throat as you rocked into him. With your fingertips still through his hair, you dragged your fingertips against his scalp as he continued to tease.
“Josh, I-I need you. Please.” Your begging caused him to nip his teeth against you nipple, making you scream out suddenly. Everything in your mind had completely fogged and you weren’t sure if this was really happening to you. He almost felt too much for you in this moment but you admittedly couldn’t get enough of him either.
The way your damp clothes stuck to every inch of your skin - you were cold and shivering but you simply didn’t care. The sleeves of your sundress were resting on your upper arms with your breasts now fully exposed for Josh to worship. Your hands left their place in his hair to pull the wet shirt off his body, throwing it on the floor with a loud smack beside you.
His hands glided up your thighs to hike the material of your dress up into your lap as he settled to his knees in front of you. He softly kissed the area from your knee to the sensitive skin of your inner thigh, alternating between both legs. You absentmindedly shimmied yourself to the edge of the low countertop for him so he could get as much access to you as possible. You needed him to touch you.
With your legs hitched over his shoulders, he traced the tip of his nose against the damp cotton fabric of your underwear, starting from your entrance to your aching clit. His warm breath fanned over you again, causing your legs to quiver slightly from the sensation. He didn’t give into your needs just yet, leaving open mouth kisses against the thin material. He had one hand placed firmly against your inner thigh to spread you out for him, and the other wrapped around your knee to steady you on his shoulder.
“Please, Josh.” Your whines were beyond desperate at this point, and you knew that the growing wetness was not from the rain. You never wanted someone as badly as you wanted him right now.
“I love hearing you beg for me, baby.” Josh hooked his thumb under the fabric to pull your panties off to the side. You thought for a second that you might have to beg one more time for him, but before you could his tongue finally made contact with you. He swept it in flat slow strokes up and down your pussy. “Fuck, you taste incredible.” He hummed the praise against you.
Your hands tugged through his hair again as his mouth worked expertly over you, exploring everything that gave you the most pleasure. He ran the bridge of his nose against you before swirling his tongue over your clit. It didn’t take long for your orgasm to build within your belly, but he knew just how to keep you right on the edge for him.
Josh continued to build you up to a peak after peak before pulling back just enough to keep you suspended. He also surprised you by slipping his ring finger inside of you, curling it against your g-spot. His finger working inside you and mouth on your clit, you knew it wasn’t going to take much else.
“I-I’m so close.” It was the only thing your brain could put together for him. Josh hummed in satisfaction against your swollen clit while slipping another finger into you. He broke the suction off of you to trail his tongue down your center and the second it came back over your clit, you were pushed completely over.
You always knew that orgasms from oral sex were the best, but the way he pleased you blew away everything you had previously experienced in life. You felt like you were outside of your own body as the waves crashed over and over again. It was a drunken combination of flashing stars and vibrant colors in within your mind. You couldn’t really hear yourself but you were positive you could have been screaming. Screaming his name. There was a part of you that almost felt bad with how tight your hold was on his hair or how strong your legs were clenching around his face. Although, in the back of your mind you knew he was enjoying every second of it with you.
He rode out your climax with his tongue lapping on you, bringing you down slowly until the stimulation was too much for you to bear. You finally opened your eyes to look down and find he was breathing almost as heavy as you were. He didn’t dare waste anymore time as he hooked his fingers around your panties and ripped them off your legs, tossing them to the pile of clothes on the floor.
Josh stood up again to meet you at eye level. His hands fumbled with his wet pants, forehead pressed against yours. You grabbed his face and pulled his mouth back to yours, melting into a kiss and tasting yourself on his tongue. Josh finally managed to slide his pants far enough down his legs and pulled your body against him. It’s the first time you are able to feel his length, now pressing up to your wet pussy. He took the opportunity to tease you, sliding himself against your sensitive clit so you can feel just how hard he really is for you.
“I need you.”
“I know, baby.”
One of his hands reached down to align himself against your entrance, he paused to look into your eyes and you catch how blown his pupils are. You nod in permission for him before he pushes himself into you. Even though he made sure you were ready, nothing could’ve have prepared you for how he actually felt sliding inside you.
He eased into you slowly so you had a chance to adjust to his size. You fought back the overwhelming urge to close your eyes so you could watch his face, eyes now half-lidded with pleasure. He halted his movements when he bottomed out, and leaned forward to bring his lips to yours. With one hand on your hip to hold the fabric of your dress up and the other wrapped around the nape of your neck, he slid out of you fully and pushed back in with more desperation and power. The moans that escaped both of you were intense and lewd, and you clung on to each other to ground yourselves to reality.
“Fuck, y/n. You feel so amazing.” The low growl rumbled in his throat with his cheek pressed against yours. You could only grasp onto him harder in response. He continued with a consistent pace, fast enough for or how badly he wanted you but making sure to let you feel every part of him. “I think you’ve ruined me, mama.”
He hit every part inside of you perfectly, brushing against your g-spot with each thrust. You were already quickly building up to another orgasm. You hungrily nipped and licked each other, making sure to leave as many marks as you could. You knew that they would show in the morning and linger for days after. You just didn’t care if they did, mostly because you wanted every reminder of this moment with Josh. Even with your mind flooded with sensations, you wanted to take in every detail. From how strong his hands felt on the different parts your body, how he breathed when he was inside you, the sounds of his moans falling from his mouth, to the way his tongue felt on your neck.
“I’m so close. I’m not sure how long I can last, y/n.” He whined into your ear, giving away how desperately he was trying to hold on for you. His grip on your thigh was so tight it might leave small bruises across the skin there. The rhythm of his thrusts started to fall apart and you swore to yourself you even felt him grow harder inside you. “I want to feel you cum on me.” The roles were flipped and now he was the one pleading and begging. It was the final push that sent you over the cliff once again.
It crashed down around you again with full force, just as intense and electric as the first orgasm Josh had given you. Out of impulse, you bit hard onto the exposed flesh of his shoulder while he continued to thrust into you, pushing through each wave as you clenched tightly around him. You wanted to live in this moment forever, convincing yourself no one else would ever make you feel like this again.
“Please cum for me, baby.” You whimpered into his ear and wrapped your legs around his waist even tighter. His whines almost sounded like a cry as he spilled into you, his warmth instantly filling you up. The sensation dared to overwhelm you with how connected you truly felt with him. He slowed his shaky thrusts to a stop and kept himself inside you while you tried to catch your breath. You could feel his heart beating rapidly in his chest as his body was still pressed firmly against yours.
With each passing minute your senses started to pick up on the setting around you. Noticing that the pounding rain of the thunderstorm had now eased to a soft shower. That Josh and you were essentially sitting in darkness as evening fell around you.
You ran your fingertips up and down his back as he breathing steadied and his heart rate settled into a normal pace. He finally slipped out of you, leaving you feeling empty and instantly aware of the lack of his body heat. Chills ran through both of you came to the realization of how wet and cold you still were.
Josh helped you off the counter and you escorted him up the stairs to your bedroom. Everything else for the day escaped your mind as you pulled him into a warm shower with you. You were okay with the calm silence that fell between you, both basking in the high of the day spent together. You knew everything had changed for you right then and there.

Park Chaeyoung: The girl who hung with the wrong crowd.
Your problem lied more so with the people she associated with than her herself. You couldn't wrap your head around why such a kind person like her would spend time with the class clowns and bullies, and to make matters worse, she would stick up for them as well.
She spent most of her days in either the art or music room, creating the masterpieces that her brain came up with.
But as soon as school was over, she'd be hanging out with them again and getting into trouble. For instance, because of her talents, they would invite her to go with them and graffiti various hot spots around town. She never vandalized any monuments or landmarks of importance -- she typically stuck to bridges or abandoned buildings -- but after getting caught with them multiple times, it was inevitable for her to be held accountable.
She was given a week's detention to make up for her actions
You, coincidentally, had a teacher that absolutely loathed you for no reason at all. No matter how good of a student you were for him, he didn't care; he had a vendetta against you for some reason, and he patiently waited for the opportunity to ruin your day.
You came in literally 10 seconds after the bell rang, putting the breakfast sandwich you stopped to get on the way into your mouth so you could open the door. He was standing at the front with a smug grin on his face, and you already knew what was coming.
You were also given an ungodly sentence of a week's detention.
Turning Point
"If I see you on your phones, I'm taking them." The monitor informs before sitting at the desk, reclining in the chair and putting his feet up soon after. You sigh and lean back in your seat, attempting to find a way to pass the next two hours without getting in trouble. Your eyes scan across the room, eventually landing on Rosé, where she sits a couple rows away from you. Sunlight is streaming in through the window next to her, its golden rays peeking through the breaks in the clouds above to shine on her. She looks gorgeous as she doodles away in her notebook, tucking a piece of hair behind her ear when it falls in front of her face.
After waiting on the monitor to fall asleep and sending one last glance to double check, you quietly stand from your seat and go sit next to her.
You barely know each other, but she's your only hope of remaining sane and occupied.
"Hi," you greet, looking into her eyes.
"Hi," she copies, a tiny smile forming on her lips when she notices your impressed expression upon gazing down at her paper. You have to hand it to her -- she's really talented.
"You're really good," you compliment, still admiring the artistry. Seeing as how you're looking down, you fail to notice the blush that works its way to her cheeks. Coming from you, the simple remark meant a lot to her.
You spend the rest of the day making small talk and getting used to one another, leaving detention later with the hopes of sitting together again.
----
The Next Day
"Hi again," you whisper, glancing over your shoulder to ensure that the coast is clear. The monitor is out like a light, with his mouth hanging open and an obnoxiously loud snore coming out.
"Hi," she giggles, watching as you dive into the floor for cover when the man shifts in his sleep. You thought he was waking up, and if he finds out you moved seats, he'll definitely have something to say about it.
"The coast is clear, cadet," she nods like a soldier, assuring you that it's okay to move back after a minute.
"That was close," you breathe out in relief, glad to live to see another day.
You share a laugh, though it has to be hidden behind your hands and kept a minimum. It's cute though -- like a little secret between the two of you, only for you to know.
"What're you drawing today?" You ask later, laying your chin in your palm as you gaze down at her work. Her reply comes out stuttered at first when she feels your leg innocently brush against hers under the table.
"D-dalgom. My friend's dog." She manages out, mentally smacking herself for looking like a fool.
You smile, thinking she's adorable. "I bet it'll be great," you encourage. She grins back as her eyes scan over your face, committing the memory of you to heart. She's always had a thing for you, ever since the time you were paired up in Biology last semester, so she's been enjoying detention more than she thought she would. Seeing you makes the time go by faster, though ironically, she wishes it would slow down a bit.
You make her feel appreciated for more than just what she's capable of producing, and the divide between you and her friend group is blaringly obvious. They like her because of the rush she can help them achieve; you like her because of her.
That thought persists in her mind for the rest of detention, and before she knows it, the monitor is releasing you again. She bends down to put her notebook in her bag when a thought pops into her mind: she wants to ask if you want to go to the park with her. When she's done zipping her bag up, she looks back up at you, only to find you on your phone, talking to someone.
"Yeah, mom. I'll stop by on the way home. So milk, cereal, ramen, and paper towels, right?"
She watches as you wait for a reply, tucking the phone into the crook of your neck as you move to write the list down on a spare piece of paper.
"Alright, love you, too. See you later." You hang up before looking back at Rosie. She looks a little down, and you have no idea why.
You pause for a moment, silently psyching yourself up for what you're about to ask. "This is gonna sound really strange, but do you want to come with me to the store?"
Her heart's pace increases at that, happy to know that you want to spend more time with her, just as she does with you.
"Actually, yeah. That sounds like fun."
You grin at her before spinning around and doing a little celebratory dance, which wins you a strange look from the monitor. You stick your tongue out at him before grabbing her hand and rushing out of the room, hearing his disapproval shouted after you.
--
"Milk?"
"Check."
"Ramen?"
"Check."
"Cereal?"
"Nope."
You nod at her words, now reminded of what you were forgetting. You push the buggy towards the aisle of cereals, gazing around in wonder at the huge selection. Rosé is just the same, eyeing all of the options like a kid in a candy store. After grabbing your mom's favorite kind, you decide on one for yourself and bring it back to the cart. Rosie scoots her leg over, making room for them beside where she sits, reclined in the cart.
You grin when you see her eyeing a box of fruit loops. Huh; fruity. Go figure.
You wordlessly grab the box and hand it to her, feeling your heart melt when she looks up at you like you hold the key to the universe.
"Thank you, Y/N."
"No problem, Rosie." You say, putting your hands on the bar as you begin pushing the buggy again. "Now, I say we see how long it takes to get to the paper towel aisle. My last record was 30 seconds."
She looks at you, clearly impressed, with her eyebrows raised. Without question, she pulls her phone out and gets the stop watch feature ready to go.
"3...2...1... GO!" She shouts, commanding your legs to start pumping as you race down the long strip of store before you. A couple kids dart out of the way just before getting smacked into, quickly turning around and cheering you on as you charge forward.
Her giggles fill the air as you drift around a corner, shouting apologies to the lady you almost bumped into.
"Sorry ma'am!"
A few seconds later, chest heaving and legs sore, you come to a stop in the aisle, dramatically collapsing in a heap next to the buggy. Rosé checks her phone as she reaches down to poke you.
"22.18 seconds, champ," she declares victoriously, smiling when you magically regain enough energy to stand up and celebrate.
"Woohoo! Team Y/S/N (Your Ship Name) for the win!"
She laughs along at that, joining in on your celebration, but she's blushing like crazy on the inside.
-----
The Last Day Of Detention
Ever since your trip to the store, you and Rosé have grown closer and closer. You traded numbers and text occasionally, though nothing beats having her all to yourself for 2 hours straight with no distractions. She feels the same; when she's in class, she can't wait for the bell to ring and signal your reunion. Part of her wants to get in trouble again, just to see you more often.
So, as you'd expect, it's really no surprise that you're sat right in front of her again, telling jokes and asking about her day. You've grown a bit more bold with every step closer you've taken towards her heart, and now you reach down to intertwine your fingers with hers.
She happily accepts, even bringing your hand up to her lips to press a kiss to the back of it. She smiles against your skin after it, making butterflies take flight in your stomach. She's got you wrapped around her finger, and you don't even try to fight it anymore.
The sound of the classroom door opening alerts you, making her lower your hand. She doesn't let go of you, though, and that fact warms your heart for some reason. The squeaky hinges groan out again as the door opens wider, revealing about 4 or 5 people from the friend group that she hangs out with. They motion for her to sneak out with them, but she just shakes her head.
"Come on, Rosé!" They whisper-scream, offering her a way to freedom. Little do they know that she'd take this imprisonment over freedom any day, so long as you're by her side.
"No! Get out before he wakes up!" She whisper-shouts back, eventually convincing them to leave.
"Why didn't you go?" You ask once they're gone, toying with her fingers as your hands rest on the desk.
"Because I like spending time with you." She admits, letting her defenses down.
"I was hoping you'd say that," you smile, letting her know that you feel the same.
The Fallout
After detention, the two of you walked out of the school, hand in hand
"Would you maybe, I don't know... wanna go to the park with me?" She asks nervously, glancing up at you.
"You read my mind, Rosie." You smile at each other and head towards the parking lot.
You started hanging out more, and she distanced herself from her old crowd
You encouraged her to enroll in your school's art program and show her work that way
"You're really talented; it deserves to be seen."
Your support meant the world to her, and she never failed to let you know
"Thank you, Y/N. Having you behind me means the world to me."
At one of her art shows, where she was tasked with unveiling a new piece that she'd been working on for months, you got the biggest surprise of your life.
She created a mural of you, all decked out with every color of the rainbow, utterly gorgeous
She lit up when she saw your reaction
"This piece is titled 'Mine', which I hope the girl in it will soon be." She says into the microphone, looking at you with hope shining in her eyes.
You nod your head with a smile and walk up to her, pressing your lips to hers in a kiss that was long-overdue. She wraps her arms around your waist, pulling you in closer with her sweater-padded hands and kissing you again and again.
The crowd claps for you, happy to see such an ending.

I couldn't choose between these two gifs so enjoy both for the price of one ^^^
Lisa Manoban: Cocky, smug, and self-assured. The dancer knew she was hot shit, and she wasn't afraid to show off.
You're all for people being confident and happy with themselves, especially when they're talented, but something about Lisa always seemed to rub you the wrong way.
Whether it be her lack of a filter or the arrogant swagger that she naturally exuded, you weren't sure. People wanted to either be her or be with her, but you fell into neither of those categories.
She always left you frustrated in one way or another, whether it be from her teasing or her witty comebacks
The teachers loved her, as did the students. She was the class clown, so her position was pretty sacred in the grand scheme of things
You, on the other hand, irritated her for other reasons. You were the only person she couldn't get to crack; you never gave into her charms, and it infuriated her to no end. She wasn't used to not getting what she wanted (as childish as that may seem) and having you, one of the most attractive girls at school, turn her down? Well that was a massive blow to her ego.
You weren't afraid to say your piece, and that both pleasantly surprised and upset her.
She constantly tried to flirt with you in class, but you knew it was all for the attention. She just wanted to make her friends laugh, which they always did.
"Y/N, come here babe. There's an empty seat next to me," she coos, batting her eyelashes as you walk in the door. It's a free day, so everyone is sitting with their friends, wherever they like.
"I'm good," you decline, deciding to sit against the wall beneath the large window of the classroom.
"Oooo, denied," Lisa's friends laugh at her this time, chuckling harder when she sticks her middle finger up at them.
"Yah, shut up," she says, nursing her bruised ego as she turns around and opens her phone.
You smile as you continue working on the homework you cracked open, scribbling an answer down onto the notebook paper in front of you. Your fingers glide over your textbook in search of the definition of the term you're on, and Lisa secretly watches from afar. Without realizing it, she grins when you light up upon spotting the answer.
Sometimes her flirting does work, though, and you turn into a blushing mess
*whistle* "Damn, Y/N. You're looking fine today," she exclaims, fanning herself. You worry that she doesn't really mean it, but when her eyes remain on you a second too long to just be friendly, you blush. She's taking in all of you, looking impressed all the while.
"Right back at you, Manoban." You wink, sitting down in your seat across the room. She lightly blushes back, though she does a good job of concealing it.
Considering you share a couple classes and the class sizes are relatively small, it was pretty likely that you'd end up paired together eventually
You weren't happy about it, especially not after the way she had acted that week. Her cockiness had been at an all time high as of late, leaving you frustrated and upset. She was so full of herself; all you wanted to do was wipe that stupid smirk off her face.
"Y/N, you'll be paired with Lisa," your photography teacher informs, pushing her glasses up higher on the bridge of her nose.
"But Mrs. Ta--"
"Pairings are final," she cocks her head at you, persuading you to give in. With a sigh, you respond, "Yes ma'am," and attempt to ignore the sound of Lisa's friends high fiving each other in celebration.
The Turning Point
"My parents are gone for the rest of the week..." she says, holding the door open for you as you carry in your equipment. A hint of suggestiveness lies in it; she's alluding to exactly what you think she is, and you push her shoulder upon realizing it.
"Knock it off, Manoban."
"Okay, okay," she chuckles, listening to you for once. The surprise is clear on your face.
She leads you towards the backyard, where you set up one of your highest power cameras and turn it on. You have to create a gallery of different photos, all under the same theme. You both agreed to do a time-lapse of the sunset, and take pictures of the stars after.
Once she makes sure that the timer is set correctly and that the auto shut-off feature is enabled, she motions for you to follow her back into the house. You do, and she leads you into the kitchen.
"Do you want a snack?"
"Sure, do you have any ramen?"
She nods, quickly busying herself by bending down and searching through the cabinets. After she finds it, exclaiming a pleased, "Aha!", she tells you to go get comfortable in the living room.
Three minutes later, from your place on the couch, you begin to smell something burning. You scramble up and rush to the kitchen, only to find Lisa running around like a headless chicken, attempting to put out the small fire she started.
"HOW THE HELL DID YOU MANAGE TO BURN RAMEN?" You shout, though your tone isn't angry. You're just very shocked, and loud about it. You push her away from the pot, albeit gently, and get the flames to go down relatively quickly. You turn the burners off and put the pot in the sink, leaning against the counter to recover from the adrenaline rush.
"Oops?" She asks more so that says, with a growing smile evident in her voice.
You shake your head and chuckle despite yourself, turning around to face her. "You can order a pizza now to make up for that." You point a finger at her, grinning stupidly when she presses the tip of hers to it.
"Your wish is my command, princess."
Thankfully you're already walking away as she says that, so she doesn't get the satisfaction of seeing you blush.
---
"Lisa, I can't keep going." You groan out, sweat dripping down your face. The pizza you ate earlier is giving you a stomache ache, paired with the physical activity you're doing.
"Y/N, just a little longer, we're almost there," she huffs out, keeping her movements steady somehow. You're a mess by now, so you don't understand how she's still going.
A couple minutes later, the TV in front of you lights up, saying, "Awesome moves! You win!" as you collapse to the ground in a heap.
Why you agreed to play Just Dance with her after eating is beyond you.
"Good job," she compliments, grabbing your hand to high five herself with it.
"Yeah, yeah," you roll over, catching your breath.
She lays down beside you as you recover, telling jokes to hear that laugh that she loves so much. She prefers yours over anyone elses, so it's always such a reward when she gets you to crack up.
"We should probably head up now," she notes, realizing that the stars will be coming out soon. You agree, and she carefully helps you up.
"Here, I'll carry you," she turns, bending down so you can get on her back.
"Lisa, you can't carry me," you brush off, feeling insecurity bubble up again like it always does when you're offered a piggyback ride.
"Y/N, I promise that I can. Trust me," she reassures, looking into your eyes sincerely.
"Alright," you sigh, standing onto the couch to get on easier.
"See?" She asks, sliding her warm hands up your thighs to keep you secured against her. "I've got you, babe."
You tuck your head into the space between her shoulder and neck, inhaling the sweet scent of her perfume.
"I'm gonna punch you if you drop me," you whisper, feeling her laugh against you.
"Fair enough."
-----
Later, On The Rooftop
"Careful," she instructs, outstretching a hand to help you climb out the window. Her camera hangs around her neck, and she takes the cap off of the lense once you're both safely sitting on the roof.
"Wow," you sigh, gazing up at the sky in wonder. Her house is far enough away from the city that you're rewarded with a gorgeous view of the stars, unburdened by the industrial fog that hangs over the cosmopolis.
"It's beautiful out here," you say, looking back at her. You tense up a bit, not expecting her to already be looking at you.
"Sorry," she laughs at herself, looking away once she gets caught admiring you.
"It's okay," you reach down and gently squeeze her hand, making her blush lightly.
"Let's get started," you conclude, pointing at the camera. She nods, knowing that she'd never get the assignment done if you didn't step in to tell her to (considering she'd rather admire you), and she points the device to the sky.
After snapping a few pictures, she lays back in order to get a better vantage point of one of the star systems. She hands it to you after she's satisfied with her work, and you take your turn with it.
She notices that you keep brushing your hair out of the way when it falls in your face, so she decides to help you.
"Here," she says, saddling up behind you. She gathers your hair up, running her fingers through it to neatly pull it up for you. Thankfully she always keeps a spare tie on her wrist.
"Thanks," you smile, snapping another picture. The simple act warms your heart; she's being selfless for once, and helping you without even being asked. It's a refreshing change of pace.
"You're welcome." She chirps, sitting back down beside you.
-----
Later, In Her Bedroom
"Oh, I really like that one!" She says excitedly, pointing at the TV. Her phone, which is connected via Bluetooth and automatically receives pictures of her choosing from the camera, is displaying some of your best shots.
"Yeah, you did really well with that. I think we might beat everyone else if we use that as our cover piece."
Your compliment makes her momentarily shy, and she quickly realizes how much she loves your praise.
The two of you continue like that, reviewing the different pictures and choosing your favorites. She always finds ways to compliment yours, noting your technique or the filter you used, and it always makes you smile. She's different than you're used to, and it's throwing you for a loop, pleasantly surprising.
---
Lisa steps out of the room to go to the bathroom a few minutes later, leaving her phone connected to the TV. A ding sounds out across the space, pulling your attention away from the stack of notes laid out before you. Your eyes dart up to the screen, reading the text message that appeared at the top of it.
Austin ⛓: "Dude, did you get into her pants yet? We're literally betting over here 😂"
You blink a few times as their words sink in, making your chest hurt. You were really beginning to believe that you had been wrong about Lisa; clearly, though, your instincts were right.
Feeling betrayed, you shove your folders back into your bag and stand from the chair, willing yourself not to cry. The sound of the sink turning on lets you know that she's almost done, so you hurry your movements and make your way towards the door. She steps out into the hall just as you exit her room, looking at you with wide eyes.
"Woah, woah, woah, what's going on?" She asks with furrowed brows, approaching you. One of her hands lands on your arm, and you shrug it off as you brush past her without another word.
"Y/N, did I do something wrong?" She asks from the top of her staircase, watching as you walk towards her foyer.
"Why don't you ask Austin?" You bitterly call over your shoulder as you turn the knob, slipping out the front door. She hangs her head upon registering your words, realizing what must've happened. She makes a mental note to give him hell when she sees him again.
Tears sting your eyes as you exit the house, wrapping your jacket tighter around yourself. You should've known something like this would happen. The chilly night air bites at your skin, stealing more of its warmth away with every step you take. The temperature doesn't change your mind, though; you're upset, and you'd rather freeze out here than be face to face with her right now.
"Y/N, wait!" She calls after you, blasting out the front foor. Her footfalls sound off behind you, announcing her rapid approach, but you don't turn around. Realizing this, she darts in front of you, keeping you from walking any further.
"Please, don't go. He's an idiot, Y/N."
"He might he an idiot, but that doesn't take away what he said," you scowl, clenching your jaw. "Betting? Really, Lisa?" You ask quietly, hurt evident in your voice.
"It was a stupid thing they tried to convince me to do. I didn't want to, but I couldn't stop them from talking once you and I were paired up. That's not what I want, though. I'm not just in it for that."
"How am I supposed to believe that? This is your M.O., Lisa."
"It's different with you, I don't know why." That's a lie; she knows exactly why you're different than anyone else she's flirted with in the past.
You stand there before her, silently weighing your options. After seeing the pleading look in her eye, her dark orbs full of sincerity, you relent. "Just take me home. We'll work on it another day," you compromise, allowing her in just enough to take you home, but not enough to stay at her place any longer. You're still weary after a text like that, and you will be for a while.
"Thank you," she breaths a sigh of relief, clasping her hands behind herself as you begin walking back to her house. She notices you shiver on the way, and she slips her jacket off without hesitation to cover you. Neither of you have to say anything; one glance from you is enough for her, and she's content knowing you're warm.
The Fallout
From there on out she was always honest with you and actually spoke out when her friends tried to do something stupid
She still remained the charming class clown that she naturally is, just getting rid of the not-so-nice parts of herself
You slowly let her regain your trust, little by little
She did nice things for you on the daily, whether it be holding the door, carrying your books, or offering to buy you some lunch
"Morning, Y/N. Wanna grab some breakfast?" She asks, moving her head to the side towards the café at the center of campus.
"Sure," you smile, laughing when she celebrates.
She invites you to her dance perfomances
When she goes to championships, you're always first on her list of invites
"I want you there." She declares, handing you the flyer.
"You've got it," you decide, knowing there's no where you'd rather be. "I wouldn't miss it for the world."
At said championship, she won the highest title and claimed victory for your school
You joined the rest of the team on the stage to celebrate, congratulating the solo dancer on her achievement.
"I'm so proud of you, Lis--"
She suddenly kisses you, clearly high off her win. She pulls back when she realizes what she just did, a worried look on her face.
"Shit, I'm sorry." She looks between your eyes, attempting to gauge your reaction.
"Get your ass back here," you order, feeling butterflies take flight when she eagerly presses her lips to yours again, wrapping her arms around you to spin you.
"Does this mean I'm forgiven?" She mumbles against your lips.
You squint, pretending to think about it. "Maybe... or maybe not."
Her subsequent gasp is quickly muffled by your kiss, which she can't seem to get enough of.

Camping
Prompt: You, Fred, George, Ginny and the trio decide to have some fun over summer break and go on a camping trip, except without the magic tents. Just some friends and some nature. Well, except for you and Fred, who are both pining over each other while thinking the other doesn't share their feelings. That is until you get particularly cold one night.
Warnings: SMUT!!! 18+ ONLY!, Camping, Swearing, Fluffy ending, I think that’s it.
A/N: Oh, to be fucked in a tent by Fred Weasley. The dream really. Anyway, I hope you guys enjoy! LMK if you have any requests!
Tumblr media
You let out a sigh of relief as you let your heavy backpack fall to the ground. The hike had been long, almost three hours, but the scenery from the mountain top where you and your friends were currently standing made it worth it.
It was Hermione's idea to go camping. She had talked about how fun it was when she had gone with her family, and thought it would be a good way to get out and spend some time together over the summer, and the twins only having been wizard camping with magic tents wanted the full muggle camping experience.
You were looking over the view when your eyes landed on Fred’s as he was looking at you, a smile on his face.
“Take a picture it’ll last longer” You joked to the older red head.
“Don’t mind me, just enjoying the view” He replied
You only smiled and rolled your eyes, moving to unpack your bag and start setting up the campsite. You and the twins were in the same year, and had been friends ever since your first day at Hogwarts, but you only saved your flirty jokes for Fred.
“How in the bloody hell does this work?” Ron mumbled to Hermione, stretching out the fabric of the tent he would be sharing with Harry.
“You have to put the poles through it” Hermione explained, taking the fabric from him and showing him how to set up the tent, Fred and George watching from the side.
You and Hermione's family's had both had some camping supplies, so you brought everything you thought you would need, including four tents. Three doubles for Fred and George, Harry and Ron, and Ginny and Hermione, and a single for you. You honestly didn’t mind the solitude though, in fact you were pretty excited to get some uninterrupted sleep.
A few hours later, and sleep was the last thing that you were expecting to get. The temperature had gone down with the sun, and your sleeping bag was doing little to protect you from the cold that filled your tent.
You were just about to see if you had packed another sweater to put on, when you heard shuffling from outside, causing you to freeze up. You clenched your teeth to stop them from chattering as you strained your ears, trying to hear what the sound could have been before-
“Hey Y/n, you awake?” Fred’s voice whispered from outside the tent, causing you to huff out a breath, opening your tent flap to glare at the red head.
“Fred! You scared the shit out of me what's wrong with you?” You whisper yelled, backing up as Fred came to sit inside the tent with you, his sleeping bag wrapped around him.
“Oh stop it you love me” Fred shot back, now fully inside the tent and sitting cross legged across from you. “George wont stop snoring, can I bunk in here with you?”
“Fred... It’s tiny in here you wont fit” You tried to argue.
“Just scooch over, it’ll be fine” He said back, already moving to one side of the tent and pushing your sleeping bag over to lay his down, unwrapping it from around himself to reveal he was shirtless underneath.
You averted your eyes, trying to hide the blush on your face.
“Fine, but I swear if you kick me-” You started.
“I’ll be gentle, I promise” Fred joked, causing the light blush from earlier to now heat up your entire face.
You shifted a bit, making more room before laying back down, facing away from Fred. A few minutes past and the cold had seeped into your bones, causing you to start shivering again. You pulled your knees into your chest, trying to preserve your body heat until you fell asleep, but you were interrupted.
“Y/N...” Fred whispered from behind you.
“What?” You whispered back a bit angrily, irritated that the cold was keeping you awake.
“Are you cold?” Fred asked, completely ignoring your tone.
“No it’s a fucking sauna in here” you replied sarcastically.
“Come here” Fred said after a moment, causing you to roll over to face him, your eyes widening.
“What?” You asked
“Come here, I’ll keep you warm” Fred said simply.
You looked at him dumbly. The possibility of somehow embarrassing yourself in front of your longtime crush was very real, however, you could already feel the heat radiating off of him, and your toes were practically numb-
“For Merlin's sake Y/N, your teeth are chattering, would you just come here so maybe we could both get some sleep?” Fred asked, lifting the edge of his sleeping bag.
“Fine, but no funny business” you said, trying to be casual, like you weren't about to practically cuddle your long time crush.
“You insult me, I’m a gentlemen” He replied
You opened your sleeping bag and carefully shifted yourself until you were in Fred's, turning so your back was once again facing him. Once you were inside, Fred lowered his arm, encasing the both of you in the sleeping bag before wrapping his arm around your waist, causing the butterflies in your stomach to erupt.
A few minutes had past, and you were still shivering a bit, Fred's body heat taking its time to seep through the three sweaters you were currently wearing.
“You know” Fred started “If you took your clothes off you’d get warmer faster” He said suggestively, causing you to roll your eyes.
“If you’re just going to make fun of me I can go, I’m sure Hermione and Ginny could make room” You shot back, your nerves getting the better of you.
“I’m serious!” Fred defended, any hint of joking from his voice leaving “Your feet are freezing and you’ve barely warmed up at all, but if it makes you uncomfortable you don’t have to” Fred finished.
You pondered for a minute. Fred sounded genuine, and it was unlikely either of you would get any sleep with you practically vibrating from the cold. So without saying a word, you sat up and began to strip the layers off your body until you were only in your bra, underwear, and socks, laying down again, with your back facing Fred.
“Bra stays on” You mumbled, causing Fred to chuckle from behind you, before returning to his original position with his arm wrapped around you, this time his skin coming in direct contact with you.
You warmed up fairly quickly, both from body heat, and the fact that you and Fred have never been this close and your heart was racing at a trillion miles per hours. You had just started to get a hold on your jitters, when Fred moved his hand, trailing his fingers up your side and making small patterns on your arm, leaving a trail of goose bumps in their wake.
“Is this ok?” Fred asked, a gentleness to his tone
“Mhm” You mumbled, the action starting to lull you to sleep, before you felt his hand move from your arm to your shoulder, then to your neck, then to the side of your face, his feather light touches almost tickling your skin.
“Is this?” Fred asked once again.
“Yeah” You replied, a bit more awake now, then again, you could be dreaming. However the possibility of this moment being in your imagination was quickly whisked away when you felt warm lips connect to your shoulder, before moving up toward your neck, leaving short wet kisses in his wake, he finally landed just below your ear.
“Is this ok?” He whispered,
You turned in the sleeping bag so you were now facing him, “Yes” You said before moving your hand to cup his face, and closing the space between you. Fred took no time to react, moving his arm to wrap around your waist and pull you closer to him, your chest now fully pressed against his.
Without breaking the kiss, you moved your hand from his face down to his chest, when you gently pushed him backwards, so he was now laying on his back, and you were straddling him, Fred's large hands coming to rest on your thighs.
Fred gently bit your lower lip, and you opened your mouth, allowing his tongue to intertwine with yours. As the kiss deepened, your hips began to rock against his, his hardened member now painfully obvious.
You trailed one of your hands up his chest, landing on his head before entangling your fingers in his hair and giving it a light tug. This sent Fred over the edge, gripping your legs to flip you over so you were now laying beneath him, a started yelp escaping your lips.
“Shh, darling. We need to be quiet” Fred rasped into your ear, placing open mouthed kisses along your jaw and down your neck, causing a chill to run down your spine, before his reached around behind you, unclasping your bra which you quickly discarded
Fred continued to kiss downwards, his hand coming upwards to grasp your breast as his lips met the other, nipping and sucking at the sensitive flesh, before continuing the attack on the other, most likely leaving marks for the morning.
He continued kissing downwards, stopping once he reached the elastic of your panties, looking up at you and kissing the inside of your knee, your thigh, your hips, everywhere except where you needed him.
“Fred please stop teasing I- oh god!” You started, protesting his slow pace before quickly moving the fabric to the side, licking a long stripe from your core to your bundle of nerves.
Your head fell back against your pillows, one hand moving to cover your mouth while the other went down to run your fingers through his hair, Fred moaning as you pulled on his fiery strands, sending the vibrations straight to your core.
As Fred continued to eat you out, you struggled to remain quiet, the hand covering your mouth doing almost nothing to contain your moans. You were just about to reach your high, your head rolling back and your toes curling when Fred pulled away.
“What the fuck Fred?” You almost sobbed, frustrated that he had stolen your orgasm. Fred crawled his way back up your body, quickly pulling his wand out from beside the sleeping bag, and casting a silencing charm on the tent.
“I want to be inside you when you come, and I want to hear you screaming my name” Fred whispered into your ear, causing your eyes to widen at the boldness of his statement. Your surprise was quickly overcome with lust as Fred leaned down to re connect your lips, allowing you to taste yourself on him.
You broke the kiss and quickly kicked your panties the rest of the way off, Fred moving to remove his pajama pants, freeing his cock which slapped against his toned stomach. You gasped as Fred guided himself to your core, teasing your folds before slowly pushing into you, his size stretching you perfectly.
He waited a few seconds for you to adjust, only moving when you nodded that you were ready. He pulled out half way, before slowly thrusting back, bottoming out completely before repeating his movements, gaining speed with each thrust.
Fred brushed past your spot with each snap of his hips, making it impossible to contain your moans. Your hands moved up his back, digging your fingernails into his back desperate to bring him closer.
“So fucking perfect, you take my cock so well” Fred practically growled, sucking marks into the crook of your neck as his high approached.
“Oh fuck Fred, I- I’m close” You gasped, the coil in your stomach getting tighter with each trust.
Fred reached down and lifted your leg over his shoulder, creating a whole new angle that hit that one spot perfectly every time, before moving his fingers to your core, making small fast circles around your clit.
“Cum for me baby” Fred said, and a few seconds later the coil in your stomach snapped, your back arching as you rode out your orgasm.
Fred’s thrusts became sloppy as he came shorty after you, helping you to ride out your orgasm, before finally slowing to a stop. You stayed like that for a moment, catching your breath as you came down from your high, before Fred pulled out of you, causing you to whine from the empty feeling.
He laid back in him original spot, the both of you staring at the ceiling for a moment, before a chuckle escaped your lips, causing Fred to look over at you.
“No funny business” You quoted yourself from earlier, “That was a fucking lie”
Both you and Fred erupted into a fit of laughter, the sudden realization of ‘I just fucked my best friend, and it was awesome’ setting in.
“Bra stays on” Fred quoted you from earlier “Also a fucking lie”
“Would you have rather it stayed on?” You asked through giggles
“Oh hell no, in fact, get rid of it I never want to see it again” Fred replied, sending you both into another fit of chuckles.
“That's what I thought” You said once the laughing had died down, suddenly becoming a bit self conscious about the whole situation as a thousand questions went through your mind. Was this a one time thing? Does he actually like me or did he just want to fuck? Should I move? Should I-
“I think I’m in love with you” Fred suddenly said from beside you, your head snapping to look at him, his eyes already on you.
“What?” You asked, not sure if you were hearing him correctly.
“I think I’m in love with you. I have been for a while actually” Fred started, causing your brain to short-circuit “Your so funny, and kind, and smart, and fuck you're so hot, but you’re also so beautiful and I just-”
You cut off Fred’s rambling by connecting the space between you once again, connecting your lips to his, one to show that you felt the same way, but to also double check to make sure you weren't dreaming.
“I think I love you too” You said after you broke away from the kiss, a smile crossing the red heads face.
“Yeah?” He asked.
“Yeah” You replied, smiling back at him.
Fred leaned down and kissed you again, before wrapping his arms around you pulling you closer to him, your head now resting on his chest, his heartbeat beginning to lull you to sleep.
“Y/N?” Fred asked, whispering so he didn’t startle you.
“Hmm?” You mumbled back, already half asleep.
“Are you still cold? Because if you are we could always go for round two?” Fred asked jokingly, laughing when you smacked his shoulder.
“Fred!”
Needless to say... there was a round two.

Camp Boys Comfort You After a Bad Dream
RDR2 Men x GN!Reader - Comfort/Gen
Arthur
- He’s a heavy sleeper but he’s gotten used to sleeping next to you so when you startle awake it’ll rouse him
- He’ll probably be a little groggy but when he sees you sitting bolt upright in bed he’ll sit up immediately too, listening for anybody around
- “What happened? Did you hear something?” he’ll ask, reaching for his gun by the bed, but when you tell him it was just a bad dream he’ll sigh in relief, before realizing it was serious to you
- “Well... want to tell me about it?” he asks hesitantly. He rarely talks about his dreams but he knows it’ll calm you down if you talk about yours, and he loves hearing you talk
- He listens intently, slowly laying back down and wrapping his arms around you when you do too, both of you falling back asleep to your quiet murmuring, feeling safe in each other’s embrace
Bill
- Bill would sleep through you waking up, but as soon as you reach for his hand, squeezing it reassuringly for yourself, he’d wake up slowly
- “You alright?” he’ll ask blearily, eyes squinting at you through the gloom, but he can tell you’re stressed by how you’re sitting
- “Aw, dreams ain’t nothing, darlin, c’mere,” he’d say after you told him why you woke up, sitting up and pulling you back against his chest, his warmth and solid presence grounding you
- He’d kiss your shoulders and give them a little massage as you sit with him in comfortable silence, the dream slipping away, replaced by the calm love he radiates
- He spoons you extra close as you lay back down to sleep, saying “I got you, baby, don’t worry”
Charles
- Charles talks a lot about the beauty of the night sky so when you wake from a bad dream you decide to leave your tent and go look at the stars, hoping to relax your racing mind before going back to sleep
- You head a ways away from camp to get away from the fire and lantern light and take a seat, looking at the patterns in the stars and thinking about the stories Charles told you about them
- Suddenly you feel a blanket around your shoulders and Charles is standing there, looking at you with concern in his eyes
- “I didn’t mean to wake you, I had a bad dream” you say and see his eyes soften
- He sits next to you, wrapping the blanket around you both
- “Sometimes dreams are the mind’s way of working out problems or concerns. Sometimes they’re not pleasant,” he says, kissing your temple, “do you want to talk about it?”
- You both sit, looking at the night sky, hoping to see a shooting star, until you get cold noses and toes and quietly return to your tent to sleep until the sun rises
Dutch
- Dutch often stays up late into the night, reading his novels, writing down plans, considering leads, and doing his own personal finances in his journal
- When you wake up from your dream with a gasp, he looks over, concern on his face illuminated by the dim lantern on his desk
- “Oh Dutch, I just had the worst dream” you’d sigh, the last fragments of the dream playing on your mind
- “My love, I am sorry. What can I do to make it better?” he’d ask, sitting next to you on the bed and taking your hands in his, kissing your forehead, rubbing his thumbs across your knuckles
- Whatever you ask for, he’ll do. He likes it when you ask him to read to you, his smooth voice lulling you back to sleep but if you just need him to climb into bed and wrap his arms around you, he will, saying “it was time for me to come to bed anyway.”
- He runs his fingers across your cheek after you fall asleep, joining you in slumber soon after
Hosea
-Hosea is a light sleeper and your restless movements and soft noises of distress woke him up first and he’d gently shake you awake
- “What’s going on in that mind of yours, sweetheart?” he’d ask, a smile on his lips, hoping to ease the tension on your face
- “Bad dreams are mighty miserable” he’d nod, having had plenty is his time, rubbing soft circles into your arm with his thumbs while thinking of what to do to take your mind of it
- “Tell you what, I’m going to tell you a story. Whenever you like, just go back to sleep, okay” and he’d lay down next to you and start murmuring, his story told in hushed tones and whispers, just loud enough for you to hear
- The darkness of the night and the warmth of Hosea would make you sleepy again and listening to his soft voice next to you as he told his story would take your mind off the dream you had
- Your eyes would slip closed, and you’d mumble “I’m still listening” but as soon as he heard your soft snores he’d chuckle and kiss your temple and say “I can finish this story another time”
Javier
- Javier is another light sleeper and wakes up just as you do, confusion and concern on his face as he realizes it was you that woke him up
- “You ok, mi amor?” he’d ask, taking your face in his hand and kissing your cheek
- “Ah, I hate bad dreams. Always get them when I think about problems too much or when I’m scared about something,” he’d say, pulling you against his chest, letting you rest your head on his shoulder, “tell me what it was about”
- Whatever your dreams was about, whatever problem you might be worrying about, he takes the time to reassure you the opposite
- “You’re always safe here. The gang loves you and will protect you, and more importantly, I love you and I will protect you, no matter what,” he says, kissing your shoulder “there’s nothing I won’t do for you, corazón”
- You both lay back down and he pulls you in close to him and as you drift off you hear, “remember I’m always here for you”
John
- Sleeps through everything, but you gently shake him awake after a bad one, making him groan and roll over, a frown on his face as he looks for you in the darkness
- “It’s just a dream, darlin’, they ain’t real” he’d say, a little irritation at being woken up in his voice
- “Yeah but it scared me pretty bad” you’d say, laying down and curling into his chest, wrapping an arm around him
- “Alright well, are you gonna go back to sleep now or not? I gotta get up early” he’d huff, but he’d pull the blanket back over you, tucking you into his chest with an arm around your shoulders
- “Tell me you love me, John,” you murmur into his warmth, snuggling as close as you can. You hear him hum before saying “you know I do. Now please be quiet.”
- He hates being mushy but when he thinks you’re asleep he leaves a little trail of soft kisses across your forehead and whispers “Of course I love you”
Micah
- Micah wakes up, being a light, restless sleeper himself, and finds you awake from your dream, staring into space as you think about what you just dreamed
- “You alright?” he’d ask quietly, his drawl not covering up the concern in his voice, hand reaching out to take yours in the dark
- “Well shit, dreams ain’t so bad. I thought it was something serious,” he says, laying back down and rubbing your back absently with a hand, trying to get you to relax and come back to bed
- “It was serious to me. Scared me to hell,” you’d say, pouting a little as you laid down next to him, arms crossed
- He’d chuckle and nuzzle up to you, pressing soft kisses into your temple, “you ain’t got nothing to worry about so long as I’m here, sugar” he’d say before pulling you closer to spoon you against his chest
- “I’m going back to sleep now ‘cause I”m tired as hell, but you wake me if you get any more bad dreams”
-He falls back asleep very quickly and his soft snoring lulls you back to sleep too, warm in his arms
Sean
- Sean wakes you up, shaking you awake frantically, concern and uncertainty in his eyes as he hovers over you
- “You were being loud as hell, darlin’, what’s got you all riled up?” he’d ask, hand gripping yours tightly as he waits for an answer
- “Just a bad dream, Sean, I’m fine,” you mumble, last tendrils of fear dissipating as you come back to reality and feels the blanket on you, the cot beneath you, and Sean’s warmth beside you
- “Aw, with the noises you were making I was hoping it was a dream about me,” Sean would chuckle, leaning down to kiss you, “wait, it wasn’t a bad dream about me, was it?”
- “No, it was nothing, I’m fine,” you’d say, yawning as the absence of adrenaline left exhaistion in its wake, tension dissipating from your limbs to leave lethargy behind
- “You certainly are fine, my love” Sean would say, kissing you a few more times, “but, for what it’s worth, you know, you have nothing to worry about here, right? You know I love you, don’t you? Because I do. And so does everyone in this gang, we’d do anything for you,” words coming out in a quiet rush as he squeezed your hand
- “Of course I know that. I love you too, Sean,” you say, pulling him down for one last kiss, “but go back to sleep, I’m ok.”
~~ End ~~
(A/N if I didn’t write someone it’s just because I couldn’t think of anything for them, not because I don’t like them. Enjoy)

Hot Springs - Lucifer x Reader
Warnings // 18+/NSFW, praise in the form of “good girl,” oral sex, female reader Word count: 2.6k
Happy hot springs theme day 💦 Here’s another Lucifer piece about getting eaten out at the hot springs because horny writing brain go brrrr. I hope you enjoy. I am also terrible at coming up with titles
Tumblr media
I can’t sleep.
You groan inwardly and sigh, turning your body to stare at the ceiling, your eyes practically glazing over. To your left, Mammon snores loudly; a sound akin to a chainsaw, and something you didn’t even think he was capable of.
“Ya gotta sleep next to me, MC! If any of my brothers even try to touch a hair on your head, I’ll kill ‘em.”
“Fine, fine,” you agreed hurriedly, already pulling the blanket over your head, gripped with exhaustion. “Goodnight, Mammon.”
I should have brought fucking ear plugs.
You roll over to your right side, where Levi sleeps peacefully, clutching his Ruri-chan body pillow close to his chest. You’re pretty sure you can hear him mumbling her name every so often, and your eyes squeeze shut in frustration, knowing that the likelihood of actually achieving a deep, restful sleep is growing lower by the second as you inhale deeply.
With a groan, you rise, feet padding softly across the smooth, wooden floor. Perhaps a soak in the onsen would make you drowsy and relaxed enough to actually be able to sleep through all the surrounding noise. Grabbing a towel and pausing briefly before leaving the room, you look down at yourself. A minuscule, though beautifully ornate silk robe barely covers your naked body; although it was customary to enter the hot spring completely nude, you couldn’t help but feel extremely self-conscious. Thankfully, Diavolo had rented out the entire place for the night, so no other beings were there, save for the demon brothers.
And, thankfully, everyone else was still asleep. As much as you love the demon brothers, sometimes it felt amazing to have a few waking moments to yourself, and the idea of spending that alone time in a steamy, relaxing hot spring? Bliss.
Carefully opening the sliding doors leading to the spring, careful to not wake anyone, you step out into the onsen. Steam rises steadily from the hot water, caressing your face as a slight breeze carries wisps of it towards you. The tension already begins to loosen from your neck and shoulders, taking in the sights of the artfully-placed rocks and trees around you. Slowly, you walk towards the stone steps leading into the water and dip your feet in, testing the temperature. Perfect.
You look back over your shoulder for a brief moment before you begin to untie your robe and open the front. Despite the warmth radiating from the water, a shiver passes through your body at the sudden exposure to the still slightly cool night air. You shrug the robe the rest of the way off, folding it carefully and setting it on a nearby bench, along with the towel.
Knowing it is customary to be clean before entering the spring, you wash off at the bathing station situated near the sliding doors, careful to remove any traces of soap before finally stepping into the hot spring. A deep, satisfied sigh escapes you as your body submerges beneath the warm, tranquil waters. Steam rises up towards you and your eyes close as you sit, tipping your head back to rest against the side of the spring. Your face turns up to the perpetually night sky of the Devildom, the light of the moon illuminating everything around you in an almost ethereal glow; stars, scattered across the sky, glitter like moon dust, looking almost as if they’re sparkling.
“Are my brothers causing mischief, my dear MC?”
The voice rings out, disturbing your fleeting serenity as you startle with a gasp. Your eyes open quickly and you look around in a panic for the source of the mysterious voice before your gaze settles on the demon standing at the edge of the spring, wrapped in a short, blue robe.
“L-Lucifer?” you manage to gasp in surprise. “I thought you were asleep. What are you-”
“I should be asking you the same question, my dear. Shouldn’t you be getting some rest?” Lucifer retorts. He can sense your shock, and he smirks inwardly, keeping his expression neutral.
“I couldn’t sleep,” you mumble. “Mammon snores like a chainsaw, Levi was having dreams about doing who knows what to his body pillow, and I just...wanted to relax…”
“An excellent place you’ve chosen to come to do so, then. Although we are in the Devildom, Lord Diavolo had to have an onsen of our own developed after experiencing a traditional one in your world, in Japan. The waters here are not geothermal as they naturally are in Japanese onsens; however, magic can replace virtually anything we are unable to replicate. The effects are still much the same, as evidenced by your relaxed state before I, unfortunately, disturbed you.”
The smirk tugs Lucifer’s lips upwards, though he quickly replaces it with a chuckle and a cordial smile, his eyes closing briefly before they open again, setting his intense crimson gaze upon you. Realizing you are fully naked beneath the steaming water, the blood rushing to your face and making the temperature of the water seem almost chilly in comparison to the heat in your cheeks. Thankfully, the water is opaque, masking your nudity, though you can’t help but squeeze your legs together and crossing your arms over your chest in a feeble attempt to mask the fact.
Lucifer chuckles softly once more, moving to loosen the strings of his robe.
“Would you mind if I join you, MC? It seems I am in need of some relaxation as well,” he asks, his voice a low timbre, as though teasing in its slight lilt. “Though it is not customary for men and women to bathe together in Japanese hot springs, we do not typically adhere to that rule here. Of course, I will respect your wishes if you decline and wish to bathe privately.”
“N-no, it’s fine,” you stutter in response. “Feel free.”
“As you wish, then.”
Your eyes widen, gaze transfixed as Lucifer finally loosens the knot holding his robe together in the front. The silken, azure fabric hangs loosely on either side, and the prideful demon smirks once more, noting your enraptured attention. Teasingly, he slides the robe off his well-defined shoulders, pausing to tilt his head and flash you a knowing smile.
“Enjoying the view?” he purrs.
With a loud cough and a swallow, you turn your head to gaze directly in front of you, studying the intricate shrubbery and not dignify his remark with a response.
Don’t look, don’t you dare look.
The heat rushes back to your cheeks and you force yourself to tilt your head back, only relaxing when you hear Lucifer step into the spring. Bringing your head back forward, you see him seated across from you in the steaming waters, a wolfish grin on your face.
“I should come here more often,” Lucifer remarks casually. “It is absolutely lovely not to have someone getting into trouble and disturbing my peace and quiet.”
He’s naked under the water. Naked. I wonder what he-
You feel your body tense at the intrusive thought and are unable to stop yourself from groaning softly, clapping a hand over your mouth as you realize you’ve completely given yourself away. Lucifer’s grin deepens, and he leans forward as those beautiful, deep garnet eyes bore into yours.
“You look a bit tense there, my dear,” he coos. “I can offer a shoulder massage if you’d like.”
“Oh, u-um… that would be nice,” you admit.
“Come a bit closer then, my dear. I may be a strong demon, but even I cannot stretch my body that far,” he teases.
Nodding slowly, you rise ever so slightly, keeping your arms tightly crossed in front of your chest and careful not to expose any more of your body from beneath the opaque water. Up close, you realize Lucifer is even more handsome, and you can feel your heart pounding beneath your rib cage, thump, thump, thump. You turn around, back facing him, grateful for the sounds of the small stream of water flowing steadily in a fountain by the spring masking the sound of your heartbeat, loud enough that surely he would be able to hear.
He brings his hands to your shoulders, moving closer. At the touch of his hands and the feel of his proximity, you start. Chuckling, Lucifer begins to knead the tense muscles with careful motions, using his thumbs to work out the tight knots he can feel beneath your skin.
“Uncross your arms for me, my dear,” he instructs. “You are carrying so much tension, and I cannot help you properly when you are not relaxed.”
With a sigh, you drop your arms to your sides, resting them in your lap. Lucifer’s touch is relaxing, satisfying, and you can feel the tension begin to melt from your shoulders as he continues to work the tender muscles. Blissfully, your head drops back, hair fanning out in the water as a soft groan, almost like a moan falls from your lips. The demon smirks as he continues his ministrations, moving even closer to you, though you barely notice the heat of his body nearly right against yours, your eyes closed in peaceful relaxation.
“That’s a good girl, stay just like that…,” he instructs.
Lucifer’s praise causes your heart to race even faster, your eyes opening as you feel your thighs pressing together. He notes your reaction, leaning forward to press a soft kiss into the delicate skin at the junction of your neck and shoulder. You shudder in pleasure, letting out a definite moan this time, finding yourself leaning back against him, your back nearly pressed to his chest. Grinning against your skin, he nibbles gently at first before biting down a bit firmer, his hands continuing their work on your shoulders.
“Such a good girl…”
Lucifer’s hands move from your shoulders to trace a path down the generous curve of your waist, his mouth finding purchase on your now relaxed shoulder as he presses another kiss there. One hand reaches up to thread his fingers into your hair lightly, tugging your head to the side before crashing his lips against yours in a feverish kiss, much like the water and the skin of your bodies. The kiss is deep, intimate; it speaks a thousand words full of want, of need, of dark desire without a single utterance. Your tongues dance with one another as soft gasps of pleasant surprise and arousal escape you and him, your thighs squeezing together under the water, now wet in more ways than simply being submerged beneath it.
Biting your lip and pulling away from the kiss, Lucifer’s hand moves to your bare breast, groping it lightly before rolling your nipple between his thumb and index finger, savoring your sweet moans. His cock twitches, already hard and pressing against your back. Grinning, he tugs at your hair again, tilting your head back until you look up at him; eyes half-lidded, nearly glazed over and blown-out with lust.
“Naughty, naughty girl,” Lucifer teases. “I offer you a relaxing massage, and you turn it into anything but. I suppose I’ll have to find another way to ease the tension in your body. Especially-”
He pauses, moving his hands to caress the soft, fleshy skin of your inner thighs, briefly teasing a few fingers between your legs before pulling them away, relishing your lewd gasps.
“-right here. Yes, it seems you are very much still tense. My, my, we certainly will have to remedy that, won’t we, my naughty girl?”
“Y-yes,” you whimper, pressing your back harder against him.
Suddenly, you are teeming with need, nearly keening at the thought of having Lucifer between your legs. In one swift movement, he picks you up, quickly turning you around to lift you out of the water and set you on the side of the hot spring. Feeling the sudden difference in temperature, you shudder. Droplets of water glisten in the shining moonlight as they travel down your body. He grins at your shudder as he begins laying you back gently and spreading your legs, pressing a kiss to your inner thigh before biting down into the skin, pausing briefly to admire the indentation of his teeth that will surely welt and leave a mark behind later.
“Don’t worry, pet. I’ll be sure to warm you up,” Lucifer says, biting down once more. “Now, lay back and relax for me.”
Obeying his command, you lay your back flat against the cool stone, your heart continuing to thump like someone is revving an engine. Lucifer teases a few fingers between your legs, his thumb circling your swollen clit, eliciting a loud, lewd cry as he does so. Pressing a kiss to your pelvic bone, he gently sucks the skin into his mouth and biting into the skin there, intent on leaving more marks. He moves to the other side, repeating his actions before lowering himself down between your legs to your wet, dripping core, practically quivering in anticipation. He smiles before his tongue darts out, licking a stripe up your core until he reaches your clit, swirling it tantalizingly slow around the sensitive bundle of nerves. Lucifer’s lips close around it, sucking. Your back arches, reaching your hands forward to weave your fingers into his hair. Bucking your hips against his face, he smirks, moaning into your skin and continuing to suck on your clit, alternating between stimulating it with his tongue and lightly grazing his teeth across it.
“Good girl, so good for me,” Lucifer moans. “You taste so fucking sweet, pet.”
Sliding two fingers inside you, he curls and pumps them skillfully to press against your sweet spot. A louder, more high-pitched moan falls from your lips, taking his name with it as it echoes across the otherwise serene tranquility of the onsen.
“L-Lucifer- ah, it feels so good-”
Frantic with desire, you begin to roll your hips rhythmically towards his face, increasing the pressure of his tongue and fingers. Lucifer slides a third finger into you, desperately savoring the delicious sounds of your desperation as he, too, can’t stop himself from moaning into your skin. He laps at your sweet essence, eager to taste all of you, to wet his cock between your tight, warm walls and help ease his own tension between his hips, a fire stirring in his belly.
“Lucifer!” Crying out his name in a wanton gasp, you begin to feel yourself tighten around his fingers. “Lucifer, I-I’m going to cum-”
“Good girl,” Lucifer groans. “Cum hard for me, princess.”
His praise pushes you over the edge, immense pleasure washing over your body in waves as you writhe against the stone, arching your back. Your body jerks forward, slightly, and your lips part to scream in pleasure, his name falling from your lips over and over, growing in volume and pitch with every syllable. Grinning, Lucifer slowly slides his fingers out of you, pressing a kiss to your clit as he pulls back. You whimper at the loss of his fingers, aching for the sensation of him filling you once more. He reaches for your arm to slowly pull you up to a sitting position.
“Now…”
Standing from the water and moving his hands to your hips, he lifts you up to pull you close to him, hips perched on the edge of the spring against the rock. Your bare chests press together as he lifts your legs, resting them against his shoulders. He slides his cock into you with ease, and he groans, tipping his head back briefly at the feeling of your wet, warm heat gripping him so tightly. You moan, fingers curling against the wet stone beneath you as you finally gain the much-need stretch of his cock buried between your legs.
“I believe I have some tension of my own that needs to be worked out.”

EXPANSION
Sequel to EXPANDING
MASTERLIST
Pairings: Henry Cavill x reader
Word count: 1,473
Warnings: emotional fluff, sensitive topics
Summary: Henry brought up a big conversation which causes emotional pain
Tumblr media
Fighting the urge to fall asleep, you drag yourself down the hallway away from the broken bedroom. The once heart home drooped in the tense atmosphere. The sun mocked your cold body. Shallow and sheer, rays of light etched out the small path to the main bathroom. Once you passed the threshold of the stony bathroom, your legs buckled underneath you. You resembled a bundle against the tiled floor- no purpose to get up. The high ceilings intimidated your fragile form. You wished for the ground to open and swallow you whole. Finally escape the fear and guilt.
Eventually, the deceptive sunlight left shivers down your exposed back. The light silk robe, which had slipped on to your body after your accent from the cold sheets, was now falling off of your broken body. Small clinks on the floorboards caught your sensitive ears. Henry. A wet sniffing nose connected with your neck as soft paws gently nudged your back. The furry bear continued his relentless nudges as your heart sank back into the depths of your stomach.
Grrrrr. A small growl realised from the loveable four-legged animal. Reluctantly dragging yourself to sit up, Kal found a spot to lay with you once again. Carefully, the American akita’s head found a comfortable patch on your stomach to cosy up as you gently stroked the hair behind his ears. Time escaped you as Kal relieved your anxieties.
After what could have been hours, you made your decent with the bear following closely behind. The journey to the kitchen felt harder as you passed each and every big moment in your relationship. Hanging directly in front of the base of the stairs, the happiest day of your life stared back at you.
Inside a small glass frame, you sat comfortably in Henry’s arms as he carried you through the threshold of your first home.
“Ahhh oh seriouSLY, Henry don’t drop mmmmmemeee!” You exclaimed as Henry attempted to open the door while still clutching on to your body. A deep chuckle rose from his chest as the door was pulled open. Your small frame fit perfectly in the arms of your handsome lover. This day was a promise not to leave when it gets hard. No matter what happens, you’d both come home.
“I’ll never let you fall” he whispered before placing a delicate kiss against your flushed forehead. Flash. A white light blinded you both as Henry’s mother captured the innocent exchange between the lovers. Embarrassed, you snuggled deeper into Henry’s arms.
“Welcome home, my love” Henry’s words faded into the happy image which lied encapsulated in the glass frame. Tears fell softly down the side of your face. Grrrr. Looking down slowly, your eyes were met with a hungry dog awaiting his breakfast. Trailing towards the heart of the home, Kal rushed off knowing exactly where his food was kept. As you slipped into the rustic kitchen, your saddened eyes were captured by a lone phone. He left without it. You heart raced at the idea that he’d have to come back for his phone. You’d see him again. Right? The silver bodied phone sat to torment your mind.
After feeding the hungry bear, you sat silently at the kitchen table contemplating how you’d tell Henry that you had already lost his baby. Before you got too lost in though, you rose to make a coffee. Coffee. Another thing you didn’t think about. When you were on set did you drink too much coffee? You’re always told that high caffeine intake can harm a baby. Did that do it? The coffee jar shook rapidly and your hand trembled. Crash.
The glass container slipped from your grasp with a nightly crash against the solid floor boards. Broken glass coated the ground beneath your feet. Without a thought, you dropped down to clear up the mixture of coffee granules and glass shards. You didn’t notice the stabbing pain of glass imbedding into your shins. Red. The glass started to turn red as cuts began to bleed. Your mind was pulled back to the tear staining journey in the back of the ambulance. The young paramedic next to you was star struck but hid it well as you clutched her hand while the pain flooded through your legs. The sirens echoed through your mind like a broken record.
Nudging under your arm, Kal reminded you that the quicker you cleared away the mess, the quicker you could clean away the red substance. Sweeping away the remains, your hand bled more but you were just relieved that the floor was clean and clear. Were you a walking hazard? Carefully, you washed away the blood that coated the palms of your hands as well as the cuts on your legs. After a while, all the glass had been removed and cuts had been lightly covered with antiseptic cream.
Hours had past since your problematic experience with a jar of coffee, you now laid with the furry bear on a cosy sofa. The soft snoring of the four-legged animal made you feel safe as he radiated the same heat as Henry. The thin silk robe hidden lasted after cleaning up the kitchen which meant that you were sat in Henry’s hoodie and a pair of worn leggings. The strong husky radiated off of the hoodie and blessed your senses. Suddenly, the American Akita jumped from his slumber to race to the front door. growling at the door, your heart started racing as you knew, all too well, who had just come home.
Curling into a ball, you didn’t hear the click of the door or the heavy footsteps that echoed through the house to find you. All you could heart was the faint sirens hiding in the creases of your heart. Comfortingly warm, a large hand rested on your shoulder. The predator had found its prey. You jumped at the sudden pressure and tried to scurry away before two warm arms snaked around you. Easing slowly, your heart started to fall out of rhythm.
“I’m sorry” the words wobbled from your mouth as tears threatened to spill from your eyes. Henry tightens his grip on your trembling body, providing the stability you need.
“Love, you have nothing to be sorry for, I lov-“ Henry coos before you cut him off. Henry’s eyes widen but he doesn’t let you go.
“Don’t because after what I have to say, you won’t mean it anymore.” You sniffled. Henry’s grasp around you stiffens as he feels like he’s lost you again. Turning out of his arms, you try your hardest to look at his face but the pain in his posture causes you to look back down to your lap.
“I want - wanted a baby. Your baby. I couldn’t think of anything better but it was too late…” Henry’s face falls into concern as your words are laced with guilt.
“W-we had sperated and I was urmmm bback on set, set for umm” you tried but the conversation was harder than your mind had even fathomed. Noticing that you were struggling, Henry captured your shaking hands in his and begun to draw circles with his thumbs.
“I was busy and that’s no excuse but if I wasn’t busy maybe I would have picked up the signs bbbbbut urm it was too late” Henry caught on to the meaning behind your words and looked up to your tear filled eyes.
“Love, we were going to be parents?” Henry’s eyes watered as realisation hit. He was going to be a dad already. the words escaped your brain which left you with a nod as tears continued to stream.
“Y/N, I still love you. You didn’t have to keep this to yourself. You are enough for me I don’t need anything more. I just need you. I need you to be healthy and happy.” Henrys words touched your heart in a way that only he could.
“Hen-nnry I didn’t want you to think that you had to come back to me after. I wanted you t—to be free. I couldn’t stand it if you came back to me because it was my fault… my fault we ended and my fault that —-we lost our… baby” you stuttered as waves of emotion hit from the inside out.
Tears blurred your vision but you felt the warm arms of your lover wrap around you like a blanket.
“Me and you from now on, we don’t keep anything from each other, we share everything no matter how bad.” Henry whispered into your hair while you trembled.
“I want to give you a baby” you stuttered as you held Henry close.
“Then we try. I will make sure we have a baby. Our baby” Henry spoke softly as you both laid in each others arms for the rest of the evening.

Persephone Symphony | Night One | Hades
Hey my lovelies, here is the next instalment! It’s pace is a little different-- a little more frantic-- but it fits the storyline so all is good! I wasn’t joking when I said it was a slooooow burn LOL! It’ll be worth it, I promise-- expect a bathtub scene soon. Anyways, enjoy my loves!!
Synopsis: In which he is the bad one— the dangerous one, the clunky one, the one who only knows how to break things— and she is the good one— the fragile one, the soft one, the one who knows how to put things back together— and he has to keep her alive long enough for anyone else— anyone who can do more than kill— to save her like she deserves to be saved— to save her from him. There are no pomegranates, no three headed dogs, and no requirement to stay— that is, if they don’t count an assassin on the loose out for her neck. In that case, three days in a safe house doesn’t feel like a long time— just long enough for Persephone and Hades to remember why opposites attract.
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Female!Reader (third person)
Warnings: nightmares, anxiety, cheesy chic flicks
Word count: 5.5k

“You don’t even go here!”
He tries not to laugh— he really, really tries. He doesn’t want to laugh at a chick flick. Maybe Nat would have called him toxic for that. She was a badass— strong, intelligent, killer— probably the most like him out of everyone on the team— and even she used to laugh at movies like this on the nights she and Wanda would claim the common room for marathons. She definitely would have called him toxic. Maybe that’s why he lets a few chuckles out. Maybe it’s just because it is funny, though, and because the other deathly intelligent woman next to him is looking at him.
Maybe he just wants her to keep looking at him and if that means watching her movie then so be it.
The couch shifts. It’s only a tiny movement— if he wasn’t so focussed on her he wouldn’t have even noticed it. But he is and he does and he tells himself it’s because this is his job. It’s his job to watch her because he has to keep her safe. Yeah, it’s his job to keep her safe. It has nothing at all to do with the fact that when she had dropped that stupid fucking brush his heart had beat so fast he thought it was going to explode. Nothing to do with the fact that he’s never kicked a door down that quick in his entire life. Nothing to do with the fact that it feels like if he takes his attention off of her for even a second then she’s going to end up with a bullet in her skull—
No. She’s fucking not. End of story.
He swallows hard, the laughter evaporating like smoke in his lungs. He didn’t expect it to last that long anyway. It never does. His eyes flick over her, watching as she pulls her legs under her worn hoodie, her head resting on the arm of the couch. Her eyes are closed and when he holds his breath he can hear hers, soft and slowing alongside her heartbeat.
Some of the tension begins melting away in his shoulders. For four hours he laid there on the floor, jaw and fists clenched so tight he wasn’t sure he’d be able to pry them open again when the time came, listening to the rapid thump, thump, thump of her heart. Four fucking hours. That was worse than the brush— he can stop a guy with a gun but he knows nothing about heart attacks.
It was agony— he hasn’t felt that kind of helplessness before. Helpless knowing he couldn’t do a damn thing to stop her heart because he was definitely the reason it was pounding like a freight train trying to barrel out of her chest. He doesn’t want to scare her— in fact, he’s almost certain he would do anything if it meant she wouldn’t be afraid of him. Because that’s what it was— fear. He could practically smell it. The sharp tang of sweat and something else lingering in the air— something that made the hair on his arms stand on end, his attention laser focussed on the semi-sweet aroma. Normal people can’t smell fear but he can. Dogs can.
He swallows thickly, metal fingers balling so tight he can hear the slight creak of the vibranium curling against his thigh. His eyes dart back to her, praying the sound doesn’t make her flinch like everything else he does seems to do. Thankfully she remains still, her heart continuing to slow steadily. He pauses his breathing again to listen harder, clinging to the rhythm of the air coursing through her lungs.
In, out, pause. In, out, pause.
Like everything else she does, she makes a song of her breaths, finding a melody in the simplest of human routine. This time, though, it’s less mesmerizing. It still drags him into her orbit— he can still feel himself getting lost in this new incarnation of her inescapable softness— but there’s this voice nagging at the back of his mind, nervously tapping at his skull, demanding to be heard. That’s normal, right? She’s supposed to be breathing that slowly? Where is the line drawn between too fast and too slow? As much as he wants to get lost in her music he can’t help but feed into the voice. Fuck. He narrows his eyes, opting to watch the minute rise and fall of her chest instead.
Rise, fall, stop. Rise, fall, stop.
For a moment it works— he can see her breathing so she’s obviously fine— but then she stills and it feels like someone is driving a knife through his lungs. It’s normal— it has to be normal. She’s just asleep. Sure enough she takes another breath, chest rising once more before falling. The same thing happens, she stills, and he waits. Rise, fall, stop. With every cease of movement he feels more and more like sliding closer to her— as if he would be able to change her breathing pattern from sheer will and closeness.
Snap out of it, Bucky— she’s fine!
He’s being irrational— he’s being nitpicky. Since when is he an attention to details kind of guy? It’s his job. There it is again— the reminder. The excuse. He has to keep her safe and making sure she’s breathing normally is definitely part of that. Rise, fall, stop. His fingers— his real fingers— twitch against his other thigh and he squeezes his eyes shut for a moment, trying to stop his gut from twisting. He has to do something— anything— to get closer to her. Just to make sure. Glancing around the room, his eyes catch on something along the back of the couch— perfect.
He yanks the quilt down as silently as possible, shaking it until it unfolds before scooting closer to her. As Bucky enters her space, cushions heaving under his weight, all he can smell is cherry pie. It almost floors him, the heady sugar and slight tang clinging to the air around her. His lips are dry but he doesn’t poke his tongue out, afraid of syrupy nostalgia he can feel starting to meld against his skin, sinking into the pit of his stomach. It’s futile— he knows it is— avoiding the sweetness won’t make it go away.
He swallows the lump in his throat and it tastes like July in Brooklyn in 1925. It tastes like running through the docks with Steve when the first shipment of fruit reached the shore, hands— both flesh, both warm, both untouched by anything but careless youth— curled around the money his mother had given him. Buy the ones in the back, she would tell him. They’re the sweetest. Finally he can’t take it— how tight his mouth feels— and he runs his tongue along his lips. His mother’s cherry pie used to win awards— now he knows why.
He drops the blanket a little unceremoniously. He isn’t intending for it to fall in a lump into her lap, all bunched up and awkward, but it slips from his fingers before he can catch it. Damn pie. He quickly fixes it, acting with more delicacy, trying to keep from touching her as he drapes the material over her legs. Despite his efforts he brushes her skin a few times, his now calloused and cold fingers meeting her buttery soft thigh, and his chest jolts, heartbeat spiking enough to rid his lungs of any trace of oxygen. He tears his hands away, breathless, face hot, and sinks his head into his free grip. He’s losing it.
“I didn’t mind it.”
At first he thinks he’s imagining it— her sweet, soft voice— the faintest lullaby breaking through the crashing of blood in his eardrums— but then he feels the couch move again and his head is lifting of its own accord, eyes desperate to see that she’s okay. He follows her movements, tiny hands grasping at the quilt, pulling it over the rest of her body. She presses her face against it, eyes remaining shut but clearly alive, and his shoulders drop. See, she’s fine you idiot.
She’s fine but he didn’t hear a word she said. “What.”
He bites back the groan— Really? ‘What’? So you remember her cherry pie but none of the manners she taught you?
If she notices the gruffness in his tone she doesn’t point it out, only yawns and stretches, bringing her body into an even smaller ball. God, he could just reach out and pick her up with one han—
“Doll.” She mumbles, sleep etched across her features, making her already soft words even more gentle. Even more hypnotic. “I didn’t mind it.”
He wasn’t breathless before. Now he knows that. He was something— stunned, shocked, a moron— but not breathless. His lungs didn’t feel like they were filled with helium before— so light that he’s afraid he’s going to float away. He didn’t slam a hand against his chest last time, fingers like jelly as they claw at his heart, searching for something to anchor himself against the madness of his racing mind. She didn’t mind it. It didn’t feel like this— like there’s no air in his throat but that it’s okay because if there’s air in her throat then everything is fine.
Everything will be fine.
She liked it.
He sinks back against the cushion, eyes wide and glued to the girl next to him, barely registering the soft snores that begin fluttering around him. She liked it. Her, the softest, warmest girl that he can remember even being this close to. The softest, warmest girl who smells like his mother’s famous pie. The softest, warmest girl who, in her sleep, pushes her foot closer towards him, resting it against his leg and snoring a touch louder. He’s breathless now— speechless.
But he has to say something.
“Oh.”
Yeah, he’s a moron alright.
*      *     *      *      *      *      *      *      *      *      *      *      *      *      *      *      *
After the movie finishes Bucky just clicks on the next one. She’s The Man. It’s funnier than the last. Maybe that’s just because the clock now reads four thirty, though, and his legs have started going numb and her cherry pie scent is still lingering in his nose. It’s like a sedative, being this close to the sleeping girl. His bones feel heavier, his eyelids beginning to droop. Every time he blinks the darkness lasts a little longer. He uses the ticks of the ancient clock to keep track.
Tick, tick, tick.
She stopped snoring about an hour ago. He kind of wishes she hadn’t. It was like a reminder— a little ‘it’s okay, I’m breathing’ to keep his nerves from sky rocketing. Now all he can hear is the little puffs of air as they leave her lips. Sometimes they blend into the noise of the TV and he goes still, a chill tingling at the top of his spine as he waits. In, out, pause. Always that damn pause. He debates turning the movie off a few times but stops himself, not wanting to risk her waking up to him staring at her in the dark. He may be out of touch with the times but creepy is timeless and in any time— be it the thirties or now— he would prefer to stay as far away from that category as possible.
Tick, tick, tick, tick.
He can feel where her toes still press against his thigh. They’re higher now, closer to his hip, and he can’t bring himself to move away from her. He should. He knows he should. This isn’t part of the job. The way his stomach flip flops like he’s a teenager again when she kneads against him is not in his contract. Neither is the way he wishes it wasn’t just her foot. He clenches his jaw, head sinking back into the back of the couch. Screw Wilson for having a couch that feels like a fucking cloud. He can feel his muscles relaxing, the numbness in his fingers a tell tale sign of the impending sleep. Just a few more seconds.
Tick, tick, tick— god he wants to crawl next to her and fall asleep— tick, tick.
He springs to his feet, eyes open as wide as they can go, shaking his head to clear the thought. Nope— that game is done. That’s the last thing either of them need; for her to wake up, broken leg or wrist or worse, trapped under him because there’s no way that he wouldn’t hurt her if they were sleeping together. He’s too big and she’s too good. Too good for someone like him, too good to be subject to the danger of his tossing and turning.
His restlessness was never dangerous before. Annoying? Yes. Distracting? Definitely. But dangerous? Never. Thinking about it now, though, he can see it— all the little ways she would get hurt being with him but especially the ones that involve them sharing a bed together. Or a couch. He’s destructive and it only makes sense that his sleep habits would be destructive too. His fingers thread through his hair, tugging at the roots. The sting against his scalp is almost enough to cover the one in his throat.
Now that he’s on his feet he stays on them, shifting his weight between his heels, trying desperately to clear the numbness. He never sits that long. Even back at the compound he never spends more than an hour in the same spot. He wasn’t built for the peace of day to day life. All the sitting and sleeping and lounging. That’s part of being a monster— in his case half man, half mechanical beast. He’s gotten used to being turned off when he’s not needed. Always moving and pushing and fighting until— Benign. Blackness. Nothing. The cold.
Maybe that’s why he can’t relax these days— the warmth. When he used to sleep— when he used to get turned off, he should day— it was freezing. Of course now he knows why— they kept him in a cooler like a piece of meat, always thawing and freezing him. It shouldn’t be a memory that he clings to— he shouldn’t be sleeping with his windows open at night, nothing but a sheet pulled over his hips. He shouldn’t cringe when Stark turns the heat up or when the gym showers are steamy from the person before him. He may be an idiot— a monster— but he’s not stupid. It’s not normal.
He misses being normal.
The supersoldier serum ensures that possibility is gone, though. Maybe one day he’ll get over the shower thing. Maybe he’ll even appreciate the temperature being turned up. It doesn’t really matter either way. Neither of those things will erase his heightened senses. Like how he can still feel where she was pressed against him, the spot on his thigh prickling with the memory of her touch. He knows he'll be able to feel her for the next few hours, engraved into his skin, taunting him. Not being afraid of the fucking hot water won’t rewire his nerve endings. Or his fucking brain which keeps filling with thoughts of the sleeping girl.
Shivering, he pushes himself to the other side of the living room, drawing back the curtain for a quick moment, eyes wandering the empty darkness before letting it drop again. He sinks into the recliner next to the couch, ignoring the way his bones ache in protest. The spot on his thigh is like a magnet, the lingering signature she unknowingly left on him begging to be reunited with her. He scratches at it— he’s not about to subject her to his cold shower, windows open life. She has enough of her own problems.
It’s not long before his eyes are beginning to shut again, the ticking of the clock like a dare, lulling him back into that semi-sweet cherry haze. Just try to stay awake, it taunts, clicking mercilessly as he fights his drooping eyelids. It would go against his entire nature, falling asleep in this armchair. It’s too soft and too warm and he has way too many clothes on but still— something’s different. He doesn’t have to look around to know what it is. His thigh is still buzzing. He doesn’t have to look but he does anyway. In hindsight it’s a good thing that he does—
“No—” his head snaps up, eyes cracking open, heart stopping— “No stop— don’t hurt—”
—because if he hadn’t then he wouldn’t be in front of her in time to catch her body as she bolts upright, springing from the couch with a choked scream, knees crashing into the coffee table and sending her flying straight towards where the glass vase shatters on the carpet.
He’s out of his seat in seconds, heart lodged in his throat as he shoves the coffee table with his boot, diving for her with all the speed he can muster. He winces when he hears the glass crunch further into ground but he can’t bring himself to care— not as his arms curl around around the tiny girl, pulling her into his chest as he twists his body and lands back first against the patch of carpet that is— thankfully— shard free. The thud of the impact echoes through his body, stabilizing only when it reaches the vibranium. He has no idea what the Shuri did to the arm to make it shock absorbent but for once he’s grateful for the hunk metal because at least it’s keeping the impact from jaring her even more. Finally the fuckin’ thing comes in handy.
His head slumps against the carpet for a moment, eyes closing, his chest heaving and veins singing— both from the adrenaline coursing a path through his body and from the way she settles on top of him, thighs pressing against him, hands splayed across his chest. He could get lost in this feeling— hell he can feel himself slipping away right now. Never before has he wanted someone’s hands to touch him so much. Hell, he doesn’t even want his own hands to touch him half the time. But hers? Gods, he wishes they would just dig into his hair already, tug on his shoulders, trace along his jaw and nose and lips. He’ll take anything— any little scrap of her skin on his.
That being said, it takes him longer than he’s willing to admit to push past the all consuming feeling of her pressing against him enough to realize that those very hands— the ones he wants so badly— are clawing at his shoulders. His eyes snap open, hands tightening on her back as she thrashes against him, voice high pitched and terrified.
“No, no, no, no! Don’t— hurt me. He’s gonna’— help me!”
Her hands— now balled into tiny fists— fly out, just barely missing his jaw as he ducks out of the way. They land against his chest instead, weakly pounding against him, and just like that he’s back, pushing off the ground and gently scooping her hands into his. It makes her thrash harder, her eyes squeezed shut, her harsh movements somehow languid and being swallowed by the hoodie. She’s panting, still mumbling, and he narrows his eyes, just barely making out the movement beneath her eyelids— is she still asleep?
“Please no.” It’s not so much of a yell now as it is a strangled whimper— one that hits him so hard he has to slap a hand to the ground to keep from falling over again.
“Hey, c’mon—” he lets her wrists go, hand instead curling around her shoulder, shaking her as delicately as he can given the fact that he’s trying to break her from the nightmare— “you gotta’ wake up, doll.”
Bucky can hear the way he stutters his words. He hasn’t stuttered since the second grade but here he is, fumbling over his sentences, trying to think of something coherent and useful. He’s a soldier for fucks sake— he’s faced worse things than a nightmare— but right now he feels eight years old again and helpless. He’s stuck, shaking her with weak arms, deaf to anything but her name on his tongue, and he’s scared. With every tortured cry that rips from her pink lips he becomes more torn between the kid he once was— the one who thought Brooklyn was so huge and that he was so small— and the man he is now— the one who knows that Brooklyn is nothing but a place and who still feels smaller than ever.
“Mama, no—” this time it’s neither a yell nor a whimper; it’s a full blown sob— one that sinks against his chest where her forehead hits him, a dagger straight to his already broken heart— “don’t go, don’t leave—”
The end of her sob explodes into a scream so loud he flinches, his hold on her tightening for a split second until he feels his fingers digging into her pilant flesh through the hoodie. He eases his grip, chest so tight he feels like he’s going to pass out. Somehow, even through the noise, he can still hear that fucking clock. It sounds like it’s laughing at him now. Tick, tick, tick, you can’t even keep a little girl safe, tick. He wants to curl up— he wants to rip his ears off. It’s too much. His shirt sticks to him, soaked with the hot, wet tears of the trembling girl in his arms and he snaps— he can’t take it anymore.
He shakes her one more time, harder, ignoring the way his muscles scream in protest, like they’re demanding he treat her as gently as possible. “Y/n wake up!”
He doesn’t yell but it’s the loudest he’s spoken since he walked through the door and it feels like he’s swallowing the pieces of the vase he broke. He had to do it. He had to make those sounds stop. He doesn’t like it but he had to. He’s just thankful it works, her eyes snapping open, the scream catching in her throat and dying away. It’s so sudden that his ears ring— not missing her wails but empty without her noise. The silence isn’t worse but it may as well be. There’s no winning for them.
She stops dead, movements ceasing, and too many seconds tick by in which all he can hear is his own panting, laboured and frantic. For too long she sits there, her eyes wide, meeting his gaze but also not. It takes everything in him to keep her at arms length— to not crush her tiny body against him if only to be able to feel her breaths against his skin. To make sure. He can see it— rise, fall, stop. Rise, fall, stop— but it’s not enough. It wasn’t enough before but now it’s really not enough, especially when she’s on his lap looking more dead than alive. Looking as dead as he feels knowing he can’t fight whatever’s going on in her head for her.
Finally, after what feels like another century of agony— one almost as bad as his first century of cryotanks— she blinks.
“Bucky?” Her voice is watery, his name coming out a little distorted— a little raw— but beneath it all he can hear the unyielding softness.
She shifts on his lap, fingers wound so tight in his shirt that he’s not sure if she’s fully aware of what happened yet. They shake wildly, thrumming a drunken beat against his chest. Had it been anyone else— had it been Wilson or Stark or anyone— he would have ripped them off of him. He would have seethed, teeth bared and nostrils flared, seconds away from barking, until they backed off. But it’s not anyone else; it’s her and so instead he sucks in enough air to make his lungs inflate and push his chest closer to her touch.
“Shit, doll, You’re ali— awake. You’re awake.” He breathes, face flushing, neck so hot he can feel every burning inch of his shirt— especially where her hands push the fabric against him.
He resists stuffing his fist in his mouth, hoping how stupid he sounds doesn’t register with her. Of course she’s awake— she's talking to him. She’s talking to him and she’s alive and she— despite the sweat beading along her forehead— still smells like tang and sugar. The SoCal girl still smells like summer in Brooklyn and that’s enough for him to force his hands off her shoulders, reluctantly but with relief cooling his nervous system.
The movement makes her tenses, head sloping down, eyes filling with realization before her neck snaps back up. “What do you mean? What’s going on?”
There’s an edge in her voice, her eyes glossing over, hands loosening before dropping completely. Bucky blinks and the next thing he knows she’s pushing off his lap, dragging herself backwards, hands clawing at the carpet now instead of his chest. The cold air rushes over him, detailing every inch of him that had been pinned against her, and suddenly he doesn’t like it so much anymore. Get a grip.
He swallows, speaking around his aching tongue and stinging palms. “Think you had a nightmare or something. You were—” he pushes his hand up and through his hair, not realising until it’s too late that it’s the wrong one. He yanks it back, teeth clenching when some strands rip out with his metal fingers— “you were talking in your sleep and then you stood up. There was a vase—” why is this so hard to say? Just fucking spit it out— “and you were about to fall and I just— it was all so fast it was the only thing I could think to do.”
He doesn’t meet her eyes for the entirety of his spiel— he can’t— but he can feel her stare burning into the top of his head. That scent— that semi-sweet musk— fills the space between them and he digs his fingers into his thighs. He knows that, were it not for the same damn serum making it possible to smell her right now, he would have bruises on his legs. The thought doesn’t mean anything to him— it doesn’t make him let up. She’s afraid. Again. All because he couldn’t let her go soon enough. God damnit Bucky.
He listens as she shuffles— as she sniffles— and he’s never hated himself more. Because that’s what it is— he hates himself. He hates himself for shaking her so roughly in his haste. He hates himself for agreeing to take this job thinking he could handle it. For not demanding Wilson take the job. For enjoying bacon on grilled cheese and for wondering what Pasedena is like and for how fucking badly he wants to truly rememeber what his mother’s pie tastes like.
He hates himself for— despite every rational part of him screaming at him not to— closing the space between him and the crying girl and pulling her back into his arms. Call him a dog— call it the instincts of a useless, dangerous mutt— but to him her soft cries sound more like his name than anything he’s ever heard. They sound like an order. Come, dog. If there’s one thing Bucky Barnes is good at it’s following orders. For better or for worse.
This time, instead of pushing him away, she throws her arms around him. “I’m sorry.”
Her quivering voice catches him off guard but not as much as her apology does. What? She sinks her face into his neck, shoulders shaking against his, hoodie covered hands scraping against his back. Nevermind— he’s not about to fuck this up. He can feel the stretch of her spine as she struggles to keep her arms around his torso, her knees wobbling slightly as they hold her up, and he instantly slouches, curling forward. In turn she crawls forward even further, legs bumping messily into his. There’s no way this is happening.
He tests the water, running his fingers up her back, pressing so lightly that he can barely feel the ridges of her bones. “Don’t be.”
They stay like that in silence for more tick, tick, ticks than he can count, neither of them speaking. Eventually her shoulders stop shaking and her little sobs turn into little hiccups before finally dissipating into little huffs of air, warm and sweet and still against his neck. At one point he moves, rolling off his shins and kicking his legs out in front of him. It forces her to move too and at first he thinks she’s going to pull away but all she does is turn, scrunching her own legs up to her chest and settling between his knees, her side resting against his front. It isn’t until the first dregs of dawn cut through the miniscule crack in the green curtain that she speaks, voice stiff and fingers pulling at the collar of her hoodie.
“What, erm, what did I say?” She pauses before sheepishly adding— “In my sleep, I mean.”
Cue the sweet scent of her fear again. He peers down at her, watching as she tugs her lip between her teeth, biting down until he can smell more copper than fruit. The hair on the back of his neck raises, stomach sinking. Blood. Keeping his hand steady where it rests on her ankle is hard. It isn’t what he wants to do but he doesn’t want to scare her— well, scare her more.
“I couldn’t tell you,” he lies, voice tighter than he would like, shrugging his shoulders instead of reaching over and running his thumb over her lip. “It was too quiet.”
Her shoulders drop and— when she releases her lip, slightly tinted crimson but overall okay— so do his. She nods but doesn’t say anything and he taps her ankle once. He hopes that to her it reads something like you’re too wonderful to be hurting yourself. Even if it doesn't, that's fine. Even if all she does is feel it and know that he’s there, watching her back, then it doesn’t really matter. That’s good enough for him.
Still, there’s that feeling in his chest again— that nagging, nitpicky feeling. It makes the words dance on his tongue, stomp against his teeth. Just ask, they goad. We know you want to ask. His eyes flick to the clock. Six-thirty in the morning. He uses it— his glaring lack of sleep— as an excuse to open his mouth.
“Do you wanna’ talk about it?” it’s a risk— pressing the matter of her nightmare when it’s clearly a touchy subject— but he has to ask.
He has to make sure she’s okay.
It’s his job.
She shakes her head, closing her eyes. He watches as her throat bobs, fingers slipping into the neck of her hoodie. “Not right now.”
He nods— he can live with that answer. He knows what it’s like to not want to talk about things. To not want to talk about nightmares. He gets wanting to bury it. It’s what he does best. Showers, jogging, fighting. Ignoring his problems is his most fluent language— and he knows three. The only problem is that now his mouth is open and it’s refusing to close— to stop talking— and he says the only thing his worried, tired brain can think of.
“Do you think you wanna’ go back to sleep or—”
“No—” she chokes out, voice rushed and cracking and cutting off the rest of his stupid thought. The regret bubbles like tar in his chest— he’s such an idiot— “please no I can’t.”
She’s sitting up now, ankle falling from his grasp as she wraps her arms around her knees. Her eyes are squeezed shut and her jaw is just barely craning back and forth, her lips moving but nothing coming out. This time he wastes no tick, tick, ticks scooting closer to her, metal hand on her back, brushing up and down, flesh hand finding the warm spot on her leg and reclaiming it. She hiccups again and he holds her a fraction tighter, wondering just how common her nightmares are.
“Hey, s’alright, don’t worry. I’m not going to make you sleep or anything. That was, ah—” damnit Barnes don’t start rambling now just fix it— “yeah no, we’ll figure something else out.”
It seems to work, she settles quicker than all the times before, but it doesn’t keep his mind from continuing to think about her. From worrying about her. Do the nightmares happen often or only sometimes?
Her body relaxes, arm sagging against his once more as she nods. “Thanks.”
Who holds her when she wakes up screaming?
He winces. “You don’t have to thank me.”
Does anyone hold her or does she just wake up alone, terrified and—
“I want to. Thank you, Bucky.”
He feels like he’s going to explode— like he’s going to say something else that he’ll regret. He has to change the subject—
“You hungry, doll?”

Soulmates Actually Pt 5 (of 6)
(Read Part 1/Part 2/Part 3/Part 4)
Loki drags their hands up Mobius’s front, palms flat against his chest, pressing wrinkles into his white shirt. At Mobius’s shoulders, Loki slides their fingers under Mobius’s suit jacket and eases down Mobius’s arms. Mobius straightens his elbows, and the jacket falls unceremoniously to the floor, a dark mark on the beige carpeting. The green tie quickly follows.
Mobius watches Loki with a hooded, passion-filled gaze as their deft fingers open the buttons of his shirt, one after the next, before it too falls down to the floor.
When Loki’s hands finally touch bare skin, they are desperate for it. They follow the path made when Mobius was clothed, up his chest, over his shoulders.
“Loki,” Mobius says, voice caught somewhere between a whisper and a moan.
Loki wraps their arms around Mobius’s waist and pulls him closer. Loki is wearing their silk sleep-shirt, but the fabric is so thin they can still feel the heat of Mobius’s skin against their own.
Loki drops a kiss to Mobius’s bare shoulder, a line across his clavicle, and then up the side of his neck. Mobius tilts his head away, giving Loki more access.
Mobius’s fingers dance up the length of Loki’s arms. He clutches Loki’s shoulders a moment, bunching the nightshirt as Loki bites gently at the soft spot behind Mobius’s ear.
“I want to do this right,” Mobius says. “It’s right for me, but is it right for you?”
Loki hums, trailing a path of kisses to Mobius’s lips before claiming them. Loki pulls away too soon, and smiles when Mobius leans forward, following them. “You are doing perfectly.”
Another kiss. Two. “Not too fast?”
Loki pulls away again, only so far as to look Mobius in the eye so he will know the depth of their feeling as they say, “If I do not have you this moment, I will burst.”
Mobius laughs, and Loki’s heart swells with new, unknown feeling - pride, happiness, unconditional affection. Mobius has won startled laughs from Loki many times but never the other way around. Mobius’s eyes sparkle with delight, with interest and joy and some pride of his own.
Loki wonders if this is what love feels like.
“Not too fast then.” Mobius’s smile lingers.
“No.”
“Good,” Mobius says, and gives Loki a shove.
Loki, caught unawares, falls back onto the bed. “Mobius!” Immediate they are on their elbows, watching Mobius step closer, up to the bed, in the open space between Loki’s legs.
Heart racing at the potential, blissful implications, Loki attempts to keep cool and lifts one lone brow. “My soulmate is feeling bold, I see.”
As Mobius’s hands reach for the waistband of Loki’s sleep-pants, Loki gathers all of their willpower not to whimper out, please. Despite their efforts, it still erupts from their throat, a cut off, strangled sound of desperation that makes Mobius’s smile grow into a shark-like grin.
“Your soulmate,” he says, dropping to his knees, “intends to worship their mischievous god.”
Loki has been in many sexy situations across the centuries, but never in their very long life have they ever felt this much longing, this much lust -
No, more than lust. Desire coupled with affection, wrapped up in...
“Mobius.”
At the first whispered touch, Loki’s thoughts frizzle out, and they do not return for a long, long time.
*
The apartment’s dark, lit only from the dim starlight peeking through the sheer curtains and the flashing clock on the microwave that neither of them set properly.
Loki’s cheek is pressed to Mobius’s bare chest, their ear over Mobius’s heart, listening to the strong, steady rhythm. Mobius’s breath is slow and deep; he fell asleep hours ago. But Loki, even with their body pleasantly exhausted and their desire temporarily sated, lies awake.
They count Mobius’s heartbeats, but hold their breath for the space between them. Humans are fragile things with such short lifespans. Fifty seems so young, but for Mobius, that is already over half his life.
“I think I should retire,” Mobius said earlier, over dinner. “I’ve worked since I was sixteen. Saved and saved. I’ve got enough investments to see us through for a good long while.”
“You love your work,” Loki said, half-hoping they hid the hope in their voice successfully enough to appear supportive.
Mobius laughed, happy and fond, which perhaps was a reveal all its own. “If I dropped dead right now, they would replace me tomorrow.” He stabbed his fork through a green bean, but he might as well stabbed Loki through the heart. His gaze on the food, he didn’t appear to notice. “It’s not personal. It’s a good company. They’ve treated me well over the years. But... that’s just how jobs work. I don’t know. I have more to live for now than just that. And we can afford it.” He laughed again, softer and sadder. “I want to at least have a few years where I can keep up with you.”
“I won’t leave you behind,” Loki said, and they could hear their own desperation.
Mobius finally looked up at Loki, and even though he smiled, he could not hide the gentle heartache in his eyes. “I’m no spring chicken, Loki. Eventually -”
“Do not finish that thought, Mobius M. Mobius.”
“I’m just saying that -”
“I know what you are ‘just saying’ and I will not hear it. I will not leave you behind, and that is the end of the discussion.”
Mobius’s brows lifted high, and Loki expected further argument. But per usual, Mobius subverted all expectations and laughed again, as happy and fond as before.
“If anyone can figure out a way to cheat death, it’s you,” he said then.
He snores a little now. His arms clutch Loki closer, even in sleep. And Loki renews their vow, quiet in the dark.
“Nothing will take you from me.”
*
Mobius puts in his two week notice the next day.
The photo of his office building that he kept on the dresser gets replaced with one of he and Loki together - much of the wall space in their apartment does too. Their smiling faces greet them at every turn.
Perhaps it’s narcissistic, Loki wonders, to have that many pictures of them in their own home, but Loki is so unaccustomed to their own happiness, it is like looking at a stranger.
When they tell Mobius, Mobius smiles and kisses them. He doesn’t reply with words, but he does get that far away look in his eye, the one that appears when his joints are too stiff in the morning, or when he wakes up from having fallen asleep on the recliner without having meant to, or when he looks in the mirror at his gray hair and promises Loki, “I used to be blond.”
And though he never says, I want you to have something to remember me by, Loki can hear the words as loudly as if he shouted them.
Mobius taps his finger on the top of the dresser, near the framed photo of his parents. “You know, I only have this one picture of them. Forty years with them in my life, of phone calls and Christmas cards, too few visits. All of it down to one picture and a bunch of fuzzy memories.”
Loki stands beside him, glancing briefly at the photo before staring at Mobius, at the far away look, and the rare-sadness tilting down his mouth. Yet before they can think of something that would bring some measure of comfort, Mobius turns to Loki and says, “Let’s go on vacation.”
Surprise replaces worry, and Loki glances at the smiling photo of Mobius on his jetski. “A lovely idea,” Loki says, and offers a small grin. “I believe I was promised a trip to the ocean as recompense for surrendering dominion over this realm.”
Mobius wide smile returns, and Loki’s grows in victory.
“A man should keep his promises,” Mobius says, and they start making plans.
*
Two weeks pass, and Mobius's last day at work comes and goes.
“You’ll be sick of me in a week,” Mobius says the first day off, but after a week, and then two after that, Loki cannot get enough of their time together.
During the day, he and Loki talk and go for walks and watch the soap operas Loki pretends to only like ironically but secretly loves.
“Is that Georgina or Regina?” Mobius asks.
Loki, an expert after weeks of indulgence, can easily identify one twin from another. “That’s Georgina. Regina has the beauty mark above her lip.”
During the night (and sometimes during the day too), they lose themselves in each other. Without draining himself at work all day, Mobius has more energy to properly worship his mischievous god, and though Loki will never admit it aloud, they do some worshiping too, of their foolhardy mortal.
Their precious, fragile human.
The longer they are together, the more perfectly matched they seem. And Loki, who has never been in love before, begins to allow himself a moment of soft wonder.
Loki remembers their first touch, the spliced visions of their future, and the way Mobius said, I love you. Again and again, a thousand times in one moment. Loki begins to wish for that... to crave it.
Sometimes they wonder what Mobius saw during the vision. Did Loki say it to him?
They have no idea how to ask without giving themself away.
*
The night before their trip to California, Mobius and Loki pack clothes into a pair of suitcases. At first they had attempted to share a single suitcase, but quickly deemed that an unwise decision.
“I don’t understand why you need so many clothes,” Mobius said, as his ‘half’ of the suitcase shrank down a considerable margin. “Can’t you just magic your outfit whenever you want?”
“You always wear that same drab suit, despite all the others we procured for you, despite no longer being required to wear it for work,” Loki replied. “Surely that portion of the suitcase is enough for one suit.”
Mobius looked down at the brown suit he currently wore, and though his smile remained, a small line formed between his brow. Loki knew instantly they had pushed too far.
So they cleared their throat and said, “Or perhaps I am doing my best to ensure you spend most of the trip naked.”
Mobius laughed and his brow smoothed out. “Alright, alright. I’ll get another suitcase,” he said, without further prompting.
Now, Mobius carefully folds yet another white shirt as he lowers it down onto the perfectly aligned pile of five exact copies. “I’ve been thinking.”
“A dangerous prospect,” Loki says, tossing a few shirts into their own suitcase. “One that usually ends in anxiety for me.” They say it as a joke. They do not expect Mobius’s quiet in return.
Worried there might still be lingering hurt from the suit remark, Loki shifts all attention to Mobius, and finds him a tangle of tension and uncertainty.
“Mobius?”
“Maybe it’s not a good idea.” He unfolds and refolds the same shirt. Twice. “Forget I said anything.”
Loki reaches out, takes the shirt from Mobius hands, and lowers it. Then they take Mobius’s hands and turn him toward them. When Mobius’s gaze drifts off toward the kitchen, Loki laces their fingers together and squeezes his hands gently.
“Good or not, I should hear your idea,” Loki says. “I enjoy knowing all of your thoughts.”
Mobius shifts his glance briefly to the photo of his parents on the dresser. “Even if it’s something that might cause you anxiety?”
Loki traces their thumb over Mobius’s. “I believe not knowing would be substantially worse.”
Finally, Mobius looks at them. “Yeah, okay.” He presses his lips hard together as he studies Loki’s face.
The longer the silence lasts, the more worry coils around Loki’s chest until they  feels as if they might explode just from anticipation of -
“I think we should invite your family to our vacation.”
Loki blinks. Waits for the punchline.
For surely Mobius is jesting.
Instead, Mobius winces. “Now that’s a look.”
“You... aren’t jesting.” Loki tries to imagine Odin standing on a sandy Californian beach, but the image is so outrageous, their mind cannot conjure it.
“Look, I know it’s a bad idea. And we can go ahead and never talk about it after this, but...” He glances again at the photo of his parents, and the heartbroken look returns to his eyes. “Too few visits.”
Only one picture.
There are no pictures of Loki’s family. Mobius offered to print a fuzzy photo of Thor from the internet but Loki refused.
“I’m not saying we invite your dad, I know that’s...” Mobius gives Loki’s hands a gentle, supportive squeeze. “But what about Thor? I promised him a jetski ride.” A pause, then softer, “What about your mom?”
Loki can imagine Thor acting a buffoon on a sandy beach - building a sand-Asgard (or attempting to - Loki’s would be infinitely better), racing Mobius on jetskis, swimming out too far and having to use Mjolnir to fly back to safety.
Oddly, Loki can also imagine Frigga, perched on a lounge chair under an umbrella, flipping through pages of a book. She would be the judge of their theoretical sand-Asgard competition and would undoubtedly deem them equal, regardless of actual merit.
“There’s that smile,” Mobius says, drawing Loki back to the now, away from the beach and to their small apartment in Dubuque. “Maybe not such a bad idea after all?”
Hope burns hot in Loki’s chest, even as they say, “They’d never agree, even if we could find a way to invite them.”
“I don’t believe that,” Mobius says, and his confidence further brightens Loki’s hope. He tilts his head. “It’s okay if you don’t want to. I’d never complain about having you all to myself.” He surely aims for a smile, and he gets one. “But... would it be okay if we tried?”
They’ll say no, Loki knows. They’ll never show. But blind hope has them nod their head, just once.
“Great.” Mobius lifts one of Loki’s hands and kisses the back of it. Then he releases them both and steps into the middle of the apartment.
“What are you doing?” Loki asks.
Mobius winks, then lifts his gaze to the ceiling. “Um, hi?” He furrows his brow and glances at Loki. “What was his name again? The guy who’s always watching? Helmdell?”
“Heimdall,” Loki says, “But I’m not sure he’ll appreciate playing messenger for such a silly request.”
“Come on,” Mobius says. “Guy is probably up there all day dealing with huge crises. He might appreciate something lighter for a change. Plus, if anything goes wrong, we can just blame the ignorant human.” He points his thumb to himself.
That this silly human man is so casually willing to bother a god with a party invitation has Loki want to hide their own face in embarrassment and also cover Mobius’s in kisses.
What an impossible fool.
“Mister Heimdall, sir?” Mobius says to the ceiling. “I’m sorry to bother you, I know you're busy. But if you could please let Loki’s mom and brother know that they are invited to come to our vacation in Malibu tomorrow? For a week? If they want to? I’d appreciate it. Uh, thank you.” He lowers his head, frowns, and lifts it again. “You can come too.”
“Mobius,” Loki hisses.
“He can come,” Mobius tells them as he returns to their side. In a whisper, he says, “We can’t be rude.”
Only the most extreme level of willpower keeps Loki from rolling their eyes. “If you were worried about rudeness, you should have invited my... the All-Father.”
Mobius’s smile slips. “No.”
It’s such a sudden turnabout that Loki’s brain goes quiet a moment.
“I’m sorry, Loki. If you want him there, of course, we can invite him, but listening to you talk about him. Even right now, did you hear yourself? You called him ‘All-Father,’ not Dad or Pops or even Odin. So formal. And look at you.” He grabs Loki by the elbows and jostles them a bit, and Loki realizes how tense they’ve been. “Coiled up like a spring about to pop. If this is what just mentioning him does to you, I don’t want that guy anywhere near you.”
Loki loosens as Mobius trails his hands to their shoulders.
“He may be displeased at not being invited,” Loki says.
“We’ll deal with that rainbow bridge when we cross it.”
Mobius rubs Loki’s shoulders, and Loki closes their eyes, putty in his hands.
“You cause infinite trouble for me, soulmate,” Loki says.
Mobius chuckles. “Yeah, but you like trouble. Keeps things interesting.” Mobius’s fingers dig into tight muscle, and Loki lets out a soft, relaxed sigh. “That’s why Regina’s your favorite.”
Loki’s eyes snap open. “She is not.”
“She’s the mischief-maker.”
“No, I assure you, she is far from my favorite. Her plans are so poorly executed that even Claudio, besotted as he constantly is over Georgina, catches wise of her almost instantly. She insults the name of mischief.”
“Maybe. But they wouldn’t have a show without her. She’s the only one who does anything.”
“No, you simply have not watched enough episodes...” Loki stops themself short and stands suddenly taller. “I know what you're doing.”
“Oh?”
“You are attempting to distract me.”
Mobius hums, and his little smile turns 100% smug. “It worked too, didn’t it?”
It did, and Loki is both infuriated and endeared at once. “How do you do this to me?”
Mobius shrugs. “You’re pretty easy to rile up.”
“That’s not what I mean, I -” They stop themself again, realizing they were about to admit to... feelings. Dangerous feelings. They swallow down the words they want to say, and say instead, “You infuriate me, Mobius.”
“Yeah,” Mobius says, “But you like that too.”
Loki does. All powers in the cosmos help them, they absolutely do.
They are as besotted with Mobius as Claudio is with Georgina. No, more so.
Mobius is so earnest and good and kind, and cares so much about Loki and Loki’s happiness, that even though Loki is annoyed, they still lean forward and kiss Mobius quick on the mouth.
Mobius closes his eyes for the kiss, then takes his time opening them again. He looks at Loki like they’re the brightest star in the sky, and Loki, chest swollen with an unfamiliar emotion that washes away all annoyance, even the faked kind, pulls Mobius into their arms and kisses him again, more properly.
Overwhelmed with warmth, Loki swoops Mobius up into their arms, mouth pressed against Mobius’s laugh, and carries him to the bed.
In the end, both suitcases end up on the floor, overturned, contents spread out all over, Mobius’s many shirts no longer perfectly folded. The one he was wearing will need some serious mending, buttons all ripped off. The pants are too torn to be salvageable.
Mobius holds Loki close and places soft kiss after soft kiss along their hairline. The space between one and the next lengthens until eventually they stop altogether.
With Mobius’s breath slow and steady in sleep, Loki leans to Mobius’s ear and whispers, “I think that I... I love you.”
*
“They aren’t going to come,” Loki says in the taxi cab to the airport.
“They surely have other matters to attend to,” Loki says at 30,000 feet.
“I cannot imagine them meeting us,” Loki says on the Californian tarmac,  even as they do imagine it - the four of them with multi-color drinks topped with sliced fruit, curly straws, and tiny umbrellas.
Mobius has not released their hand the entire voyage. “You never know. Stranger things have happened.”
“Stranger than two gods vacationing with their delinquent adopted relative?”
“Sure,” Mobius says with a shrug. “You hear the one about the gorgeous god who found their soulmate in a folksy dope of a human?”
A small measure of Loki’s anxiety melts away. “You are referring to when the realm’s bravest human opened their heart to a broken god?”
“Not broken,” Mobius says, suddenly serious. “Never broken.”
“Mobius,” Loki starts, but in a flash, Mobius easy smile returns.
“Come on. Let’s hit the beach.”
Loki bounces their leg the entire taxi drive to their beach-front hotel. Their suite is large, upgraded last minute at surely no small expense, to a set of three rooms, just in case Thor and Frigga decided to arrive. They change into swim trunks and descend the staircase off their balcony down to the sand. The hotel arranged a series of lounge chairs and umbrellas that Loki is eager to claim, but Mobius pulls them down to the water first.
“We’ve been in Iowa too long. We have to at least touch the ocean.”
Loki accommodates him enough to step into the water, ankle-deep. Mobius splashes in all the way. He dips below the surface, then reappears, drawing closer, soaking wet.
“Do not even think of -” Loki says, knowing what’s coming. Mobius allots them plenty of time to move if they wish, but they do not. Though they do groan in dismay as Mobius wraps them in a damp hug.
“Kiss me,” Mobius says, bright as the sunshine and laughing. “I taste like the ocean.”
Loki does not bother to stop their rolling eyes, even as they indulge him with a kiss. Hm, he does taste a bit salty. But it’s still Mobius underneath.
“Perhaps you are part fish,” Loki offers, teasing.
Mobius’s eyes light up. “Do you think mermaids are real? Mermen?”
Loki, watching Mobius’s youthful glee, has no desire to quash his joy, even slightly. “Perhaps?”
“Oh, man. How great would that be?” Mobius says and releasing Loki, flops back into the water.
Loki can’t help their smile. And they don’t want to either. Mobius makes them feel young again too, full of hope and possibilities. Like they could accomplish anything.
Like defying death.
Their smile slips, but they struggle to hold onto it, not wanting to ruin Mobius’s fun.
But even this trip carries the weight of Mobius’s unsaid wish, I want you to have something to remember me by.
“We will remember together,” Loki says under his breath, as Mobius jumps into a wave.
Then, like a boom of thunder across the beach, roars a voice, “Brother!”
Loki turns to see Thor in bright-colored shorts and a too-small white tank top walking toward him. Large sunglasses hide his eyes, and a swipe of white sunscreen streaks his nose, but his wide smile leaves no argument to his expression. And beside him...
Frigga wears a long, floral sundress and a wide-brimmed hat. Where Thor barrels forward, oaf-like, she moves like the water itself, each step on the sand fluid and careful.
Reality flashes through Loki, stealing his breath. When last she saw them, they were... not...
They have no idea what their relationship could be now.
This was a mistake.
Loki has to run.
They look at the water, but Mobius is too far out.
For Loki to run, they would have to leave Mobius.
Indecision roots them. To stay or to go.
But no, Frigga would not wear a sundress if she had meant only to renounce them. She would not dress as though she intends to stay.
And Mobius...
Loki steels their resolve. How tightly had Mobius held Loki after they fought about his job and he thought Loki gone forever? How many whispered promises had he made since then, of their staying together?
No. Mobius would not leave them.
Loki will not abandon him either.
Thor reaches them first. “Good to see you again, Loki. Heimdall sends his regards, and his regrets. He could not get away.”
“Oh... uh, of course.”
“Where’s... oh!” Thor looks out at the water. “Mobius! My brother! Stay there, I will join you!” Then he trudges into the water, each step a large splash.
In his place, stands Frigga. Loki stands tall, bracing themself for perhaps-deserved condemnation.
But then their mother lifts a hand and places it softly to their cheek.
“My beautiful child,” she says, and it is enough. It is everything.
Loki falls into open arms, feeling much like a youth again, safe and protected in their mother’s embrace.
“Thank you for inviting us,” she says as she cards her fingers through their hair. “It was a most pleasant and unexpected surprise.”
“It was Mobius’s idea,” Loki admits.
“Your soulmate knows your heart well,” she says, kindness warm in her voice. “It brings this mother peace to see her child so happy. Especially after such a long period of distress.”
Loki closes their eyes and bites back their bubbling emotion. To have their pain acknowledge is almost too much. As to, is having the reaffirmation that they are her child, even now, even after everything.
Loki realizes too late that they are still wet from Mobius’s hug, and pulls away sharply. But Frigga keeps her arms on their shoulders, her smile ever-soft, ever-patient. She holds no harm for them, only kindness. Only joy.
Mobius approaches slowly, kicking gently through the water, creating only minimal disturbance to the water’s surface.
He looks first to Loki, as if studying their face. Loki knows he is searching for distress, that Mobius will rise to their defense with nary a moment’s notice. But he mustn’t see that, because a smile breaks wide on his face as he turns it toward Frigga.
He holds out his hand, dripping wet with saltwater. Frigga glances at his hand, then ignores it and pulls him into a hug, too.
“Thank you,” she says, voice nearly lost among the shift of the waves and the loud beating of Loki’s own heart.
“You don’t have to thank me.” Mobius’s voice is much stronger. “You’re always welcome to... oh.”
She says something else, something Loki cannot hear, something that makes Mobius’s smile soften and his eyes search out Loki’s over her shoulder.
“You don’t have to thank me for that, either,” Mobius says. “Loving them is the easiest thing I’ve ever done.”
Loki’s whole world goes very still.
The sun shines. The waves continue to pound the sand. Somewhere, Thor calls out for them to join him. Mobius looks away from them, back to Frigga.
Loki just stands there, a single word, echoing loud in their head.
Mobius’s voice. Mobius’s word.
Love.

Flying Home
Summary: Unable to fall asleep on the flight home from a grand prix, your attention is consumed by Daniel.
Characters: Daniel Ricciardo x Reader
Warnings: None
Word Count: 620
A/N: This is my first attempt at writing anything F1 related so please enjoy this little fic that came to me after watching the Austrian GP yesterday.  My love for the Honey Badger knows no bounds.  Tagging a few people who showed an interest (although Dumblr isn’t letting me tag everyone who liked my previous post so apologies for that) and a few others who I think might be interested....hope that’s ok!
******************************************************************************************
It's quiet on the plane. All you can hear are the low snores and regular breathing of your fellow passengers, the sound almost enough to pull you down into the sleep that you so desperately need. Being Daniel's Press Officer keeps you busy from the second that the driver press conferences start right through to post-race interviews. You've been on your feet since early Thursday morning, and now that you finally have the chance to relax properly, you can feel your eyes closing, your heartbeat slowing.
But one thing keeps you from falling asleep. Something that you should ignore but can't. You want to turn away from the sight before you but you can't. Your attention is focused entirely on the man in the seat opposite you, the man who you've had feelings for ever since you first met. Unable to roll over, unwilling to turn your back on him, you glance at him every few moments, watching his chest rise and fall as he sleeps. He looks so peaceful, so calm compared to the frenetic pace he's set across the weekend.
You're just about to try and fall asleep once again when his eyes flicker open and his gaze lands squarely on you. Even with heavy eyelids and messy hair, he somehow still manages to look absolutely perfect. His voice, husky and hushed, reaches your ears across the semi-darkness of the cabin.
"Hey. Can't sleep?"
"I'm certainly tired enough. Just can't quite get there."
"Well we can solve that. Get over here."
You swear that with those few words, your heart starts beating out of your chest, that everyone in the enclosed space around you is probably able to hear it. But your body reacts as requested, almost involuntarily, slipping out of your seat as quietly as possible and dropping down alongside Daniel who has slid across to one side to give you enough space next to him.
He pulls you close to him, your back firmly pressed against his chest, before dragging the thin airplane blanket over both of you. His arm drapes across and wraps around you, enveloping you in a warm hug. After a few minutes, the sound of Dan's breathing manages to have a soothing effect on you and you find yourself finally able to drift off, a feeling of calm contentment washing over you as you close your eyes.
***************** A few hours later, you're gently awoken by the flight attendant telling you to return to your allocated seat.
You try and move but find that you can't. Dan's legs are tangled around yours, his arm still tightly holding you close to him . Your efforts to escape from his vice-like grip don't go unnoticed and he whispers into your ear.
"Don't go."
"I have to. Flight's about to land, we're almost home."
With a sigh, he twists around, letting you stand and stretch your cramped muscles. As you turn to leave, his hand catches yours and immediately pulls all of your attention back to him. His voice, still laden with sleep, is barely audible, yet his words come through loud and clear.
"Come home with me."
You're taken aback at his request, although you'd be lying if you said that you hadn't spent many nights dreaming of him saying those exact words. You're about to dismiss it as a misunderstanding on your part when you look at him and see his eyes focused solely on you, lust flashing through them in a way you've ever seen before. There's a brief moment as you stand, unwilling to move away from his touch, where your mind races through the possibilities of what he's just suggested. But desire takes over and allows you to simply utter a single word.
"Ok."

Repercussions (14)
Masterlist
Pairing: dark!Natasha Romanoff x dark!Wanda Maximoff x fem!reader
Summary: The day to escape has come, and you push your feelings aside to get the job done.
Warnings: dark themes, brief injury mention
A/N: I’m planning on making part 15 the ending (which feels crazy to say!!), but if it turns out to be outrageously long, I’ll split it into two parts. also the book I mentioned is by Aleatha Romig, and I think I may order it to read! it seems like it’s much darker than this story, so please be warned of that if you also decide to give it a chance! anyway, can’t wait to hear your thoughts!
Previous part
-
You blinked slowly as you were unwillingly brought to consciousness by the sound of your iPad ringing again. For a moment you sat there, surprising yourself when tears filled your eyes. Sure, you’d had some good moments with your girlfriends despite all the manipulation, but were you really going to miss being held captive?
Deciding not to debate the subject with yourself, you quickly wiped your eyes before rolling over to answer the Facetime call. You were met with the connecting screen and then their beaming faces replaced yours, and a sleepy smile was painted on your features as you realized they were also lying in bed.
“You sure don’t let a girl sleep in, huh?” you teased in a raspy tone, clearing your throat immediately.
“Sorry!” Wanda laughed. “We just wanted to see you before we went to sleep.”
“Are you feeling okay?” Natasha interjected with a frown. “You sound different.”
“I’m fine, just need some water.” You stood with the iPad in your hand, placing it on the bed for a moment while you slipped your robe on. “I don’t know if you remember, but the two of you had me screaming last night.”
“No, we remember very well.”
“Hi, Wesley!” Wanda called as he came into view after pulling the sheets up higher over herself and Natasha.
“Oh, hey guys!”
You handed the device over to him as you walked around him to get water from the fridge, smiling as you overheard his question about the trip and your girlfriends’ enthusiastic responses. Part of you wished this was normal, that your cousin was just visiting while they were out of town and not playing the double role of babysitter for them and partner in crime for you, but you shook the thought away as you were handed the iPad again.
“Good news, printsessa. We should be home in three days instead of five,” Natasha told you with a grin and you gasped.
“Wow, really? That’s amazing! Although I wouldn’t mind if you could come sooner, because I’m getting kind of bored with Wes.” Your sigh turned into laughter as he playfully shoved you.
“Be nice, baby,” Wanda teased with a giggle that was quickly followed by a yawn. “Alright, get some breakfast and we’ll get some sleep.”
“Okay! Text me when you wake up.”
“Of course, printsessa. We love you.”
“Love you too,” you offered with a smile and wave, releasing a deep breath when the call ended.
“You okay?”
“Yeah,” you answered through another sigh. “Yeah, I’m fine.”
“You’re actually falling in love with them, aren’t you?”
“Probably.” You dropped the iPad on the table and stepped back to lean against the sink. “But it doesn’t matter anymore. I’m not backing out.”
“As long as you’re sure.” He hands you a plate of pancakes with a sympathetic smile. “I talked to Kendall and the safe house is all set up, just waiting for our arrival. Also wrote down all my contacts and erased everything from my phone and trashed it.”
“We can pack the food after I have a shower,” you added after swallowing a bite of food. “That’ll give them time to fall asleep. Then we can put everything in the car and get the security system disarmed.”
“I’m surprised you’re able to eat right now. I know how nervous you are about this going well.”
You paused with another forkful of pancakes held to your lips, simply shrugging in response. “Turns out I’m a pretty good actress.”
-
As soon as you were dressed you ducked into a camera free zone, checking your device and sighing in relief when you heard their light snores. You wasted no time in making sure you weren’t missing anything in your bag and tucked your burner phone in your pocket as you made your way downstairs.
“They’re asleep,” you announced as you entered the kitchen, stepping over to the counter where Wesley was sorting food into another bag.
“Okay, I’m almost done. I’m only packing snacks from the pantry. We’ll just have to wait until we’re done driving to have a meal. I have bottled water in the car.”
The two of you worked quickly to grab what you could and placed the food and your own personal bags into the backseat before coming back inside and heading to the basement. Wesley picked the lock of the security room and led you inside, and your mouths fell open at the sight. It was bigger than expected, one area of the room dedicated to surveillance of the house and surrounding land, and the other part more of an office area used for mission related things.
Once you’d gotten into the security system, a password protected screen popped up and you took a moment to really think about what it could possibly be. Your mind raced back to the first meeting, first date and any other first that followed, trying not to linger too long on the happier moments.
“What do you think it is?” Wesley finally questioned after a minute of silence.
“Try ‘consequences’.”
A mixture of pride and nausea stirred inside you when you were immediately granted access, but you focused on disabling the security system, jumping to your feet when the two minute timer started. You dropped the tracker on the table before you ran out and got into the car, driving through the gate mere seconds before it began to close. Wesley pulled over to change the license plates once you were a safe enough distance away from the house, and then you were on your way to your new safe home, deep in the middle of Nebraska.
“I have a question,” Wesley broke the silence an hour later, and you turned away from the road to give him your attention. “How did you know the password?”
“It’s the name of the book Natasha was holding when she asked me out. The main character meets a man after work that takes her out to dinner and then kidnaps her, and I don’t know if she knew that when she picked it up or if the summary alone gave her the idea but…It’s just so fucking similar to what they put me through and I just--”
A shiver rippled through you as you allowed your anxiety to take over for a moment, and Wesley was quick to grab your trembling hand in his.
“Hey, it’s okay. It’s over now,” he assured you calmly and you exhaled a shuddering breath as you closed your eyes.
“I really hope youre right.”
-
On the other side of the world, Natasha and Wanda were just waking up from their night of slumber, and Wanda was quick to grab her phone and text you while the woman beside her stretched and yawned.
“What are you up to?”
“Just letting printsessa know we’re awake now.” Wanda put the phone down with a sigh. “Is it bad that I want to retire soon just so I can go back to waking up next to her everyday?”
“Not at all,” Natasha chuckled lightly, running her palm along her bare spine. “The last mission I went on alone, I could barely sleep. It felt like a piece of me was missing.”
“Heading out in half an hour!”
The two women faced each other as Steve’s voice came through the door, playfully rolling their eyes and sharing knowing smiles as they begrudgingly climbed out of bed.
Unfortunately for them, they didn’t return to their room again until nearly midnight, midafternoon for you, after just barely escaping the base they infiltrated and making tons of detours to ensure they weren’t followed to the safe house. Once everyone’s injuries were tended to, Natasha and Wanda broke away to shower and collapse onto the bed once they were done.
“Tash,” Wanda began, lifting her head to reveal a concerned expression. “Printsessa didn’t text back. She didn’t even open the message.”
“What?”
Natasha comes closer to take the phone, checking for herself and feeling a panic rise in her chest immediately. She quickly switched over the check the live camera footage, and a mix between fear and anger swirled around inside her when she didn’t spot you or Wesley in any of the rooms.
“Fuck!”
“Nat, what’s going on?” Clint questions as he stops in the doorway, noticing the tears beginning to spill down Wanda’s cheeks.
“Get in here and close the door. We have a problem.”

hi may i request a mikasa x gn reader soulmates au? maybe the tattoo/marks trope or the visions/dreams trope up to you :) thank you in advance!
Finally some Mikasa, I love her sm
Also, I wasn't super sure what specific tropes you were talking about, so I just kinda took an idea and ran with it, hope you don't mind.
Anyway, this POV follows Mikasa, which is different from what I usually do, a POV of the reader instead lol

Rosebud
(Mikasa Ackerman x Reader)
AU: Canon, soulmates AU (You have a unique tattoo that only you and your soulmate have)
Warnings: None
Category: Fluff
Summary: Mikasa was doubtful of soulmates, but an unexplainable force draws her to her soulmate one day, and Mikasa has no choice but to confront it.
Words: 2.7K
Tumblr media
Mikasa never really believed in soulmates.
She thought the idea that everyone had a destined, unchangeable partner was ridiculous. The perfect person just "appearing" whenever the universe decided she needed them wasn't something she understood at all.
And yet, the evidence of her having one was splayed gorgeously across her back. Stretching from shoulder to shoulder, a large, beautiful tattoo was inked on her back. Feathered wings, outstretched and reaching towards nothing, and around them; roses. Red roses and thorned vines wrapping around the wings and budding up at the top, exposing a single rose bud on the nape of her neck. Though, it remained hidden behind the crimson red scarf she adorned.
She had kept it hidden constantly, lest her soulmate notice it and complicate things. For all she cared, she would keep it hidden forever, and her soulmate would be none the wiser.
She stared into her reflection in the mirror, collecting a small amount of water in her cupped palms and splashing it in her face, making sure her body was wide awake for morning training.
She turned around, staring at the tattoo with an indecipherable expression. She was still topless, not having finished dressing yet, giving her the opportunity to observe the art. Whether she believed in soulmates or not, she couldn't deny the absolute beauty of it.
Hesitantly, she slid on her bra and shirt, wrapping her scarf around her neck just enough to cover the rose. It could stay hidden a little longer.
Time came for morning training, and she suited up in her ODM gear. Today was race day; something that came once a week, where, in the morning, they would race through the forest with their gear, and the first to take a flag from Shadis on the other side was declared winner, and got double rations for the week.
Armin geared up next to her, his sleeves riding up his arms, revealing the tattoo on the inside of his forearm—a golden compass, opened and facing North. The glass covering the needle was adorned with small droplets of water, and foam, presumably from some body of saltwater, surrounded the accessory.
She looked away, choosing to ignore the way it made her heart twinge. Sometimes, rarely, she would indulge in the idea of having a soulmate. She hoped that, say it be true, her soulmate would truly understand her and care for her, and, most importantly, love her, something she unfortunately didn't experience a lot of in her childhood.
A shrill whistle startled her out of her thoughts—the first whistle. It signified 30 seconds until the start of the race, where he would blow it three times in short succession to start the chaos.
She lined up on the white line, drawn in the dirt with chalk, and stretched her arms over her head, releasing the tension in her body before the race started.
Finally, after a tense silence between the soldiers, the whistle blew, and all the Cadets instantly took off, whirring and spinning into the darkness of the forest.
Mikasa shot off, easily finding her place in the top three. Reiner was to her left, and, despite his large build, he managed to carry himself effortlessly, flying through the air like an eagle. And, to her right, the three week reigning champion—you.
Your hair blew behind your face as you pierced through the air, dodging the thick tree trunks and jutting branches as you flew towards the goal.
You turned your head, eyes meeting hers with a competitive smirk, wordlessly challenging her, temping her, even.
Mikasa perfected her form, leveling her body and shooting the hooks of her gear into just the right places to give her the highest momentum. She easily slipped past you, eyes set straight forward towards the goal as she stole the first place spot.
You swore under your breath, immediately thinking of how you were going to pull ahead of Mikasa during the home stretch.
You aimed your ODM gear at a tree in the distance, seeing if you could use the momentum to slingshot yourself forwards and towards the goal.
But, as soon as the hook buried itself into the wood, the wire twisted and stretched, clearly going on beyond it's limits. Still, you decided that would be a problem for the next gear inspection. For now, you could stand to damage your gear a little bit to pull ahead of Mikasa.
Mikasa watched, jaw slightly agape, as you sped in front of her, easily gaining a ten meter lead on her. Her daze lasted only a slight moment, as a loud screeching noise drew her attention away from your sudden lead.
She searched around for a moment for the source of the sound, until she located it right in your direction. Her eyes widened in realization—your ODM wire was strained, and started the fray as it twisted and stretched.
You seemed to notice your peril shortly after, but there was nothing you could do at that point. The last metal strand of the wire strand snapped, and it gave out instantly, still dug into the tree.
Panic immediately shot up your spine, bracing yourself for impact as your previous momentum shot your face first towards the forest floor.
Mikasa's eyes wandered involuntarily towards your stranded form, watching in horror as you collided with the dirt, kicking up a cloud of dust laying limply in the shrubbery.
Part of her just wanted to finish the race—since she was now in first—and claim her rations. But, a sudden, external force drew her to you, her body moving on its own as she rushed to your side.
Soldiers flew past her overhead, the buzzing and whirring in her ears making it difficult to tell just how fast her heart was beating all of the sudden.
She dug through the grass and shrubs for a moment, searching your limp figure. Once she found you, she pulled you up and out of the dirt. You were awake, but somewhat lethargic, staring up at her with droopy eyes. Blood trickled down your forehead and over your cheeks, dripping from your chin.
"Shit, Y/n...!" She cursed under her breath, scanning your body for any other injuries, letting out a heavy sigh of relief once she realized there were none.
"Are you alright? Does your head hurt? Can you walk?" She bombarded you with questions, pulling your body into her lap. She had no idea why she was so concerned with you all of the sudden, but the urge to make sure you were okay was absolutely overpowering.
"I..." You raised your hand the gash in your head, pulling it away and gazing at the blood coating your fingers. "...could be better, but I think I'm alright." You sighed, resting an arm over your chest out of exhaustion. "Hurts like a bitch, though."
Mikasa sighed, brushing the loose strand of hair from your face.
"Mmm..." She hummed, rubbing her temple as the roots of a headache started to form in her head. Terrible timing, though it was inevitable considering the sudden stress this situation brought her. "Still, I should bring you back. You don't look so great right now."
You sighed, nodded your head slowly, the pain of your fall seeping its way into your aching body as the adrenaline started to wear off.
You stood up, slowly starting to walk back to the barracks, but found your legs suddenly unable to support your body weight as you stumbled and collapsed forward. Luckily, Mikasa dashed to your side, wrapping one arm around your shoulders and the other over your stomach to support you and prevent your fall.
"Hang on." She muttered, moving in front of your to slink her arm underneath you, picking you up and slowly carrying you towards the barracks.
You immediately buried your nose in the crook of her neck, the head injury clearly clouding any sense of shame momentarily. You inhaled her subtle, yet sweet aroma, slowly dozing off in her warm embrace.
It took Mikasa a good few minutes to realize you had fallen asleep, once she had asked you a question for the third time and didn't get a response. Once she realized, though, she just moved the arm that wasn't supporting you up to your head, keeping your head in its place. For some odd reason, she found comfort in its being there.
Small twigs snapping and grass rustling, plus your soft snoring, were the only audible noises at this point, the other soldiers far too far away to hear. Even if the two of you were close enough, even the person in last place should've crossed by now. She paused to wonder if Shadis would mind both of your absences, but dismissed the thought. At least somebody had to have seen you fall.
She sighed, gazing up at the sky.
"What am I doing right now?" She wondered aloud, now that there was no one to listen. "Why am I helping you?" Her slender hand brushed through your hair, trying to make you as comfortable as possible while you slept.
She had no clue, honestly. She had always been a close friend to you, but to go to such lengths to comfort you, she wasn't sure why. And she wasn't sure, either, why your gentle breathing against her was so calming to her. Really, she had no reason to be feeling this way.
Her feet slowed to a stop in front of the main building of the Trainee Regiment. Slowly, she pushed the door open and walked down the corridor towards the nursing room.
Gently, she set you down on the bench, stirring you awake as you opened your eyes, scanning the new environment with confusion.
"Where are w-"
"The medical office." She cuts you off without thinking, rummaging through the nearby cabinet for bandages, or something to wrap your head in.
Finding the small, white roll tucked away in the back, she turns back to you, unraveling some of the bandages and slowly wrapping them around your head.
"It really isn't that bad, Mikasa." You stated, yet made no effort to stop her.
"Liar. You passed out on the way here." She deadpanned, finally finishing the bandages. Grabbing a small cloth and running it under the sink, she dabbed it across your face, cleaning off the dried blood.
"I didn't pass out." You huffed out, stubbornly.
"You were asleep almost the whole walk."
"Just a power nap." You concluded, making her giggle.
"Whatever you say, just... be more careful. You probably already have a concussion, we don't need more than one TBI per month." She joked, smiling bashfully as you laughed at her quip. Mikasa wasn't a jokester by any means, so to see her so comfortable around you was a shock.
Mikasa pulled the cloth away from your face, examining for any missed spots. She almost put the rag away, satisfied with her work, until she saw a little dash of red across your nape.
"Turn around. You have blood on your neck." She whispered, and you obeyed silently, turning around.
She outstretched her hand, preparing to wipe the crimson off your neck, until she noticed. That's not blood at all.
It was a rosebud.
She blinked once, twice, making sure it wasn't just her imagination. It was identical to the one she had of the back of her nape as well—she knew it far too well, she saw it every other morning.
Without thinking, she grabbed the head hole of your shirt, pulling the cloth down to your mid-back to get a closer look.
"Ack—! Mikasa what are-" You sputtered, confused by her sudden forcefulness, contrasting her previous gentle behavior.
She paid no mind to your protests though, gazing in amazement and bewilderment. It was the exact same as the one she had, a perfect replica.
Clearly, she had never thought to take in the beauty of it until now. Now that it was inked into your back and not hers, she could see just how marvelous of a drawing it is.
"Y/n..." She exhaled, so quiet that she was surprised the sound even passed her lips coherently.
"Mikasa, what's gotten into you?" You inquire, turning around to face her, pulling your shirt back up over your shoulders in the meantime.
The second your eyes meet hers, she throws herself around you, wrapping her arms so tight around your chest that you swore you couldn't breathe.
Tears threatened to prick at her eyes. No matter how much she didn't believe in it, the stories were true. The stories of how you'd feel when you first connect with your soulmate. And, guessing by the way your breathing faltered and your mouth hung agape, you could feel it too.
She pulled away, leaving you confused, but also a little colder without her body pressed so close to yours.
With no explanation, she raised her arms and slid her shirt over her head, causing you to flush bright red and start to panic.
"Mikasa, seriously, what the hell is going on-"
"Look." She turned around, and the winged tattoo was on full display. It matched yours completely.
"Mikasa, I..." You tried to think of something to say, but no words fell out. You didn't expect to meet your soulmate, not this early, not her.
She didn't know what to do, either. She never expected to meet her soulmate, and not in a place like the Cadet Corps. Though, she couldn't deny that she felt attracted to you, not just emotionally, but almost spiritually, like something unknown tethered the two of you together.
Slowly, she brought you into a more gentle embrace, slinking down in your lap and wrapping her arms around your neck, leaning into the crook of your shoulder. You instantly wrapped your arms around her in return, and you swore you had never felt more at home than in this moment.
Her hand moved to your back, skimming it back and forth over the spot where your tattoo laid—she knew it was there, even if she couldn't see it.
The two of you stayed there in comfortable silence for what felt like eternity, being so close to someone as important as a soulmate brought immeasurable relief and tranquility to the both of you. The dull throbbing in your head died down at the sensation of the warm, comfortable woman tucked in your arms.
But, the moment was cut off by the distant shouting and clamoring of soldiers, signifying their return from the race.
"We should get up." You muttered, not wanting your intimate moment ruined by sudden company.
Mikasa sighed, reluctantly shuffling out of your lap and onto her feet. "What about Shadis?" She inquired, sliding her shirt back over her head.
"I'll just say it's about the head wound, and that you're staying behind to help me." You smile, dusting more of the dried dirt off your uniform. "He'll understand."
"I doubt that." She sighed bluntly, stretching her stiff limbs over her head. "But still, I wouldn't mind spending a little time off with you." She admitted, grabbing the cloth of her scarf and covering her mouth in an attempt to mask her flushed face.
"Good." You push through the door to the medical office, making your way to your dorm room—which, by coincidence, you shared with Mikasa.
You plopped down on the cozy linen sheets, stretching your body out before yawning, patting the space next to you and inviting Mikasa over. She took the offer silently, placing herself on the mattress, sitting up and facing the wall away from you.
"You know, when I said to watch over me, that was only an excuse for Shadis." You muttered, wrapping your arms around her waist in an attempt to pull her down to cuddle. "I just wanted to snuggle a little bit."
She sighed. Not moving from her position, upright and facing the wall. "I know, I know soulmates should do romantic things like this, I'm just... very new to this." She muttered, embarrassed.
"That's fine." You yawn, arms retreating from her waist as you bury your face in a pillow, sleep already taking hold. "We have plenty of time."
She nodded wordlessly, even you were unable to see—sleep had already taken hold of you.
"That's okay," She turned around, stroking your hair and brushing a few loose strands away from your face. "I think I love you already."
