đŤ Keep your unrealistic punctuality expectations to yourself đ¤ | Hereâs a rough timelapse of the making of Louise. I first sketched her years ago in an old sketchbook I no longer own. As soon as the pen-and-paper sketch was ready, I began drawing her on my iPad, which explains why you see me tracing digitally from a notebook page.
I often start a sketch, and in the process, a story or a piece of dialogue will come to meâthatâs how Iâll know I have something. This process reminds me a bit of how songwriters create music: some of them come up with the melody first and then the lyrics, while for others, the lyrics always come first. Well, in my case, the sketch usually comes first, and the story takes shape as I draw.
As nothing came to me while tracing her for the second time, I set her aside for monthsâyears, actuallyâand Iâd nearly given up on her until a few weeks ago, when I found her while looking through my old sketch files for inspiration. And then it came to me, so here she is đ our queen of running late, Louise.
Donât Let Society Tell you how to live your life. đ ââď¸
Cuz society is obsessed with plans, dreams, and success so much that it creates a negative standard and expectation on how a certain person should behave.
Ask yourself, what do you want, and what are you willing to give up? And whose voice will you listen to â yours, societyâs, or your familyâs?
Donât give up! Donât live your life on othersâ expectations. It's your decision, how your life wants to be. đŞâď¸
The excitement we had as a 5 year old, running to our parents in the playground, waving a shiny new certificate at them...
As a child, the approval of our parents is integral to our desire to achieve. As adults though, being a hyper-achiever can have drawbacks if we lack focus and clarity.
Take a moment. Disengage with the need to achieve.
Consider asking yourself: am I doing this for my benefit? Or for the ability to show others what I can do? Will my efforts move me closer to my own goals?

đŤPEGGY | Crippling anxiety is my â¨personal brandâ¨. Iâm genuinely baffled that âRPFâ (resting panic face) hasnât become a âthingâ in 2024. Considering RPF is the âfetchâ to our inner Gretchen, weâre on a mission to make âRPFâ happen in 2024 for all you wonderful beings with more open tabs in your minds than on your browsers.
As a kid, feeling overwhelmed triggered this weird, fuzzy sensation in my chest that I couldnât quite identify at the time, a mix between fear and dread. Imagine an unwanted, tingling buzz crashing in mid-sentence and choking you up when you least expect it. Sadly, this sensation didnât pack its bags with age.
I tried everything you could possibly (and legally) try: meditation, breathwork, bizarre homeopathic remedies, strategic bathroom escapes, and the classic diving under the coversâall with mixed results.
With time, I learned that what worked best for me was to simply own it. Thatâs it. As soon as I stopped worrying about what other people thought of me, my levels of anxiety and panic began to decrease to what they are now: Chihuahua-esque but manageable levels of panic and anxiety.
Hereâs to owning your âRPF lookâ like the coolest pair of boots youâve ever worn and giving the middle finger to all your pesky inner âwhat will they think?â phantoms. Panicâs in vogue, and weâre making it our badge of honor.
