A look back at one of my favorite photos of 2023.
I had already used the same location near my home to show a canoe falling into the waterfall. But I wanted to take the storytelling a step further and feature a team of unhappy pirates who had made the wrong choices and were about to lose their entire fortune!
I'd like to take this opportunity to share some behind-the-scenes footage with you ;)

Day of the Dead
When I got these mariachi minifigs, the first thing I thought of was the movie Coco.
There's no official minifig for Miguel but making one was easy enough from other LEGO minifig parts.
I added a fiber optic lamp behind for some festivity. Plus, sometimes I just like bokeh.

Is it a dragon? Is it a plane? No! It’s Johny with his newest invention… a flying bicycle!
In this @stuckinplastic challenge we were inspired by well-known Czech Young Adult literature character, Jan Tleskač. He appeared in a book called The Mystery of the Puzzle Box, written by Jaroslav Foglar in 1941. The story begins like this: Jan was kind of a mysterious character, a foundling, trained as a locksmith and always creating something in his hidden workshop. He longed to build a flying bicycle, which he finally succeeded in constructing and flew over the rooftops of Prague. Before he died, he hid the blueprints in a metal puzzle box he had made and called it Hedgehog in a Cage (because of the shape of the puzzle). After he died, his puzzle got lost and the search for it started the war of the gangs.

Hello community!
We've asked to our spotlighted artist @rennerbricksto provide an exclusive picture for @brickcentral along with some insights on how he made it, and here's what he have to say:
"I was thinking of an idea centered on the theme "Christmas preparations" and while browing internet for inspiration, I found a scene of a person carrying a tree on top of the car. The scene is very rare in Japan and It was very attractive for me.
That's the beginning of the idea.

The car is what stands out the most. I also chose an angle that could have shown the atmosphere of the city during winter season.
Talking about the light, I've used LED lights and a strobe. I've put a lot of LED lights in the store to replicate the inner lights, then for the exterior I've used a strobe with a blue filter, to replicate the light of a night sky, leaned toward the ceiling to take advantage of the bounced light."
Thanks for all the insights @rennerbricks! If you want to read this artist profile, head to our blog at https://brickentral.net/ - @theaphol, Community Outreach Manager

A tribute to BD-1, one of the cutest droids of the galaxy far away (my personal favorite stays R2). Lego set 75335 with Lightailing kit mounted on top. A great way to further enhance its showpiece potential :)

I'm Four Bricks Tall and I'm a photographer living in Spain currently.
I've been shooting LEGO minifigs and models since 2013. I started right here on Tumblr as Ogle My Lego but then changed to Four Bricks Tall because I couldn't have "Lego" in my domain name.
So being here again feels like home. This place and Twitter feel like the good old days before Instagram, and everyone chasing likes and followers there.
I like trivia and LEGO so that's kind of the reason why I chose my username: the height of a minifig is four bricks tall.
My favorite themes in general are medieval fantasy and castle, steampunk, and apocalypse.
I have professional experience as a photographer and I teach some of the stuff I know to toy photographers. I really love watching people develop their skills. It's great to see someone grow their skills month after month.
I'm a LEGO Community Ambassador of @brickcentral too. That's just a fancy title to say I am the representative of BrickCentral to The LEGO Group. It's a lot of paperwork 🤣
