Rick explicitly saying that Percy will always owe Poseidon for existing. Saying that nothing he does, no matter what amount of miracles Percy achieves, he will always still be in debt paying for Poseidon’s indiscretions. Seeing that Poseidon suffers in no way for breaking his vows. Seeing that Poseidon demands worship and respect even though he’s never been there for Percy or Sally. Even though he demands that Percy pay him for any assistance. Poseidon stepping over every boundary Percy has (showing up in his shower, taking photos of him without his knowledge, telling the other gods they can use Percy for whatever they want).

Worship your parents, children. No matter what they do to you, you must obey them. No matter how they neglect you, you will always owe them a debt for existing.

This is why they changed the timeline. This is why Percy “failed” the quest. It was to give us the opportunity to see Poseidon choose Percy over choosing his pride. And from the tiny scene we’ve seen of him before this, we knew he would. We knew that Percy mattered more because we saw Poseidon pained and scared and regretful to be apart from his family.

They are defining the gods differently. It’s about Pride, and it’s about Love, and it’s about Family. It’s about “some of us don’t want to be like that either.”

And Poseidon SURRENDERED for his son. Because Zeus was going to continue a war for his pride. And he was going to kill Percy for his pride. And he would have ignored Kronos, too. But there are more important things to Poseidon, and we’ve been able to piece that together throughout this season.

I also like that Percy and Poseidon are basically wearing the same outfit.

And it doesn’t hurt that Toby Stephens (Poseidon’s actor) basically runs the master class for playing the saddest men alive.

Maybe it’s just me and maybe it’s because my bar for men irl is really low and maybe no one else felt it but when Poseidon said “But you have no one to say it to and maybe that’s the most unfair part of it. and everyone else is just. flabbergasted about how casually percy puts like. full trust into his father, without a second (maybe even first) thought

then they meet poseidon after the war (and after he talks to and helps percy) and they realize why

cuz hes just. so much more chill than they thought hed be. like he doesnt even blink at percy and nicos friendship and is even like ‘so you tell are getting along better now? thats great and brilliant keep up the good work (i love you two), and with annabeth he pats her on the back: annabeth, dear! you did great on your quest, youre (bitch ass) mother hasnt said anything about it, but i have a good feeling shes proud (i am too. i love you). and with the rest of the seven he just. doesnt give a shit /pos. like: yea ik you kinda left my son to fall in tartarus and i am still kinda pissed about that- but hey you seem like you all get along fairly well so who gives a shit (he does. so much)

and the rest of the seven are like. hey. hey percy. do you. do you realize how much your father cares about you.? and percy, with the shittiest self esteem ever is like: well yea he does, a bit. but i dont think its that much

Good morning. I just realized that the one time Poseidon gave Percy a birthday gift he strung it on his necklace and wore it constantly. He spent all year thinking about it and trying to figure out what Poseidon wanted him to buy with it. Sanddollars are 2-4 inches in diameter meaning that it would've been resting above his heart. I am going to fucking cry.
