Life goes on in the City of Fireflies, and some of our beloved characters are going to take important steps towards their future.

Uhm, hey. Hi. I'm kinda glad I gave the last chapter some sort of closure, because it's been more than a year since I posted it. I am genuinely sorry I put this story on hiatus, it became quite difficult to write for me and the fandom getting smaller, the feedback getting fewer, etc. made it harder to write. 😔 But I slowly kept adding scenes and having ideas to continue this story, and to be honest I'd love to keep writing it, even if it means posting one chapter a year. These characters' stories ain't finished yet! 💕💕💕 This is quite long, basically two/three chapters at once, so I hope you'll enjoy it even if my writing is very rusty!

Down in the depths of the stone temple's dungeons, a halfling was chained upside down by the wrists and feet, the end of which were attached to the ceiling and spread apart so that the halfling was in an X position. Lady Briar Delphyne stood before them, Lord Emo only two steps behind her. The halfling had been discovered as a traitor- one that had been passing information to Selûnites. Such treason could hardly go unpunished. The Lady Delphyne's red eyes piercing the traitor before her. It only took a flick of her wrist to signal Emo forward. The pale, gaunt man approached the halfling holding a saw, the Mage Hand he conjured levitating right beside him. The saw was placed between the halfling's legs, Emo's hands gripping one end and the mage hand the other.

"Your punishment has been decided," Lady Delphyne said. "You will repay the pain you caused Lady Shar by so brazenly betraying her. In this offering you may find mercy...or not."

With a push, the screams began. Lady Delphyne stood expressionless as blood coursed down the halfling's face. Such a small body meant Emo had to command the Mage Hand to work carefully yet slowly so that the punishment didn't end too quickly. The sound of bone and organ being sawed through almost brought a smile to Lady Delphyne's face, but it definitely brought one to Emo's. Each scream brought a thrill to his monotonous heart, and he almost swore he felt the familiar chill of Lady Shar's presence.

Despite the efforts to extend the torture, it did eventually end. "One of the initiates can clean this up. Makes it a good example for what happens when you cross Lady Shar."

Emo nodded. The Mage Hand was dismissed, and the saw hung limply at his side. A quick Message spell saw to his lady's requests, and soon the two were making their way to Lord Emo's chambers. Lady Delphyne took a rag and dunked it in the filled wash tub in the corner of the room. She tenderly began wiping the blood from Emo's face. "The blood of a traitor does not befit you, Emo. At least, not in the long term."

Emo didn't protest, only scrunching up his face at being tended to like a messily eating child. Once that was done he slipped the bloodied outer robe off. Luckily his white underrobe hadn't been dirtied. His Lady gently wiped a his neck, carefully cleaning off the blood. Emo found Lady Delphyne's red eyes flicking up to his occasionally. This made his heart bump a bit. Both he and his lady definitevly felt no romantic emotions towards one another, but there was...something...there.

When he was cleaned off, Lady Delphyne dunked the rag into the basin's water, turning clear to crimson. She wrung out the rag and draped it on the basin's edge before an initiate knocked on the door. Lord Emo opened the door and accepted the meal tray the initiate brought before going over to his bed and placing it on the surface of the blanket. "My lady..." he said.

Lady Delphyne sat beside him on the bed. When Emo lifted a grape to her lips, she happily accepted it, sighing as the cool juice from the fruit soothed the headache she felt coming on. It was there they sat, stealing a moment for themselves, taking comfort in one another's company. Even if ten or twenty more heretics were discovered, Lord Emo would make sure all knew what happened when Lady Delphyne was defied, when Lady Shar was betrayed.

Also I may have just wanted to finally use that Pinterest board I made Sam just in time for her to be done with the comic.

Anyways, happy Valentines Day, or Singles Awareness Day, or Half Priced Chocolate Eve…or whatever.

Also RIP Diana, that’s the face of someone who forgot they were working a major consumer holiday until they saw the line outside the door.

Poor Sylphi, she was so close to getting Amoré to admit it was a good idea to leave her in charge of the kitchen. Victor better take her out to a nice dinner after this.

Shout out to Argento & Aeiris for starting a kitchen fire by blowing up the microwave.

New canon unlocked. Amoré only hired Sylphi because she saw Victor gives her discounts on fresh produce, Aeiris is good at foraging, & Argento’s jar of never ending bees mean free honey. Skill does not enter the equation. What a way to run a business.

Gaberyl (Gabby)

Third son of Raphael, Gabby is a curious flavor of cambion. Thanks to his tiefling mother's bloodline running heavy on incubi, Gabby is functionally an incubus.

Ok so the amount of Vampire Eddie rumors makes me think of an au where Steve died as well and that Vecna turned him into some angel creature

Okay so DnD wise, you wanna know who also really hates Vecna *and* has the ability to resurrect players? The Raven Queen.

-It started with the final battle, Steve collapsing from his accumulated injuries and passing out on the ground, dead. The group don't want to leave him and Eddie's buddies behind but they have to.

-Vecna is not dead and takes Eddie's body to use him as his servant. Someone else entirely ends up finding Steve's body.

-Not every being in the upside down is hostile, some are simply observers. An unknown entity, later dubbed The Raven Queen by Dustin, comes across Steve and gives him another chance at life.

-Steve wakes up, no longer in the upside down, instead in the outer limits of a now ruined Hawkins. Only he's different now.

-Namely A.) His eyes are a deep black and B.) He has wings. Large, Raven black wings.

-All things considered, Steve doesn't want people to freak out when they see him and steals a bully jacket to cover up the wings and goes to one of the people he knows can help him.

-Dustin is living in his grandpa's home when there's a knock on his window in the middle of the night.

"Steve?!"

-Dustin calls an emergency meeting with the party to let everyone know that Steve is alive and supernatural.

"Is Eddie alive?"

"I...don't know."

-This is great. But also terrible. Because they have to hide him like a weird winged ET.

-Plus side they can use him to fight the supernatural stuff still coming out from the upside down, they just need to help him get a hold of what he can do now.

*Cut to Steve on the edge of a second floor windowsill, wings out and nervously looking down at the party*

Steve: Are you sure this will work? I'm not hot on dying again.

Lucas: It's an instinctive thing! Just jump!

-Flying was not instinctive. While in theory he can't die, Steve can apparently still break bones.

-Things are going great with Steve finally being able to fly when they find Eddie again. Only it isn't Eddie. Not exactly.

-Eddie's now apart of Vecna and kind of a vampire. He also having a whole upside down hive mind problem. Struggling against Vecna's influence is hard, especially when he sees the kids and Steve again.

-It might be the brain damage but...Steve's kind of hot. Right? (He's trying to convince himself after seeing Steve eat a hot pocket out of the trash)

So I have an RP where Essek finds the M9 300 years after their passing...they reincarnated and he's very emotional and happy and we just found Jester~ She's a gnome! She was born at sea this go around and never was bored or alone...Essek was very happy to hear this ♡

The big party at Lambert Castle is over, and the guests retire in their room. Before the day will bring its news, the night is the time for love.

With this chapter, I decided to raise the rating of this fic to Mature, but I did it also because I had previously touched heavier themes such as fantasy violence, abuse and trauma, therefore I realized Mature would've been a more appropriate rating for the fic as a whole. I’m sorry it took me so long to deliver this chapter, it’s been a rough start of the year and previously I’ve been busy writing a lot of other fics. But TODAY MARKS THE 3RD ANNIVERSARY OF DOWN IN THE DUNGEONS! Since the fate of the spider clan was left ambiguous at the end of 'Embrace Your Destiny' I had an idea for the DND AU where Spider Queen does something to piss off Bai He (since her getting souped is part of the campaign I'm thinking something like MK being badly hurt during one of her attempts to take over the city) So she decides none of the spider demons make it at the end of the campaign out of spite.

Yes.

Spider Queen went out of her way to scare Xiaotian pretty badly. Bai He can't tolerate disrespect for her brother so the next session, she went into graphic detail about SQ becoming soup. Xiaotian managed to calm her down, however, so the spiders get out of Spirit Jail at the end of the campaign.

(Macaque found out. He laughed himself sick. At least until he went laughing to Bai He.)

okay so I think a Fun Thing for Aeronwen would be an exandrain au. Specifically in the age of arcanum. Like.

she's a wizard and a necromancer and those two things usually mean a deep contempt for the gods, or a least an irreverence, a lack of concern. And for Aeronwen a lack of concern is. Well. Kinda mostly true. From a certain angle. But she DOES has a deeply held set of beliefs about right and wrong, so she kinda dislikes most of what people do with necromancy, even if she finds the process of it fascinating

she is the exact kind of person who would develop a system of ethics wholesale with no outside prompting and I think here she does

I think this tiny little gnome with more principles than charisma fights and scratches and claws her way up to a position as the head of an ethics committee on necromancy somewhere, anywhere. She looks at people torturing and twisting souls just to see what it takes to break them and goes "you know what? No. We're not doing that anymore"

and I think, perhaps, in exandria, in the age of arcanum, she may have had a friend. perhaps there was a wizard with more skill then sense who thought to become a god. perhaps, in this world, in this version of exandria, these two wizards found each other and found kindred spirits.

perhaps they would call and chat and Aeronwen would complain about people trying dumb things, stupid things with necromancy. maybe the gods don't mean anything, she'll say, I don't know. But I do know that some things are simply wrong

maybe aeronwen knows about her friend's plan, here. maybe she laughs and says maybe I'll be your first cleric, if you pull it off, her faith in her friend strong enough to make her place it in a god

maybe they leave that call and aeronwen says talk to you later

maybe she's walking home, at an odd hour perhaps, and someone grabs her. maybe someone who she had shut down, now making her a part of the experiment she had deemed unethical, unallowable. maybe her soul and body are split and preserved. maybe nobody finds her.

perhaps the world ends and a thousand years pass and then a group of adventures find a soul, trapped, and a body, preserved. maybe they find a way to reunite them. maybe Aeronwen wakes up, more sorcerer than wizard (protected, I think, by the love from her friend-turned-god, who couldn't fix it, but could keep it from getting worse)

Maybe her first words are oh feathers, im so sorry

Tari uses Kleo or Violet as her favored aliases. her favorite flowers are violets and orchids

DnD au where either the batfam or some mebers of the Justice League get taken into a game.

Who's the game master? Both Vlad and Ghost Writer. Ghost Writer makes the overall world while Vlad voices everything and adapts on the fly when the 'players' do things they didn't expect.

The thing that I'm thinking about here is that Danny is a Naga, and in his lore he's actually a very important and powerful person, either politically or physically. Probably physically, but he constantly plays the damsel in distress for like, no reason.

The boy just genuinely likes to play the damsel in distress even through he's actually quite powerful in the grand scheme of things.

But here's the thing.

The batfam/Justice League don't know that.

They just think he's a very unlucky monster guy who keeps landing himself into dangerous situations and calls for them to save him when he's in trouble and, them being heroes, they save him every time.

The opposite of Jazz, really.

Who is a badass character that, at the start of the entire thing, saved the players from one thing or another at times and then helped them in battle in the later game while also secretly being a very important character in the lore just like Danny.

Is Jazz also a Naga? I don't know, had me thinking that she was more of an Amazon or something like that. But she could be a Naga not gonna lie.

AnYWYAS.

How are Danny and Jazz important? Well, I would like to think that they are actually royalty. Like, full blown very important royals from a very big and powerful kingdom or empire.

Danny would be a Naga prince, and depending on if Jazz is a Naga or Amazon she could be either a queen or princess.

Whatever the case, the two of them would make comments about each other. Danny's comments being about how, maybe when starting out, the players aren't his usual savior and stuff like that, with Jazz's comments being that saving the players quite reminds her of a specific little Naga she constantly has to save.

Maybe Vlad sees this and decides that Danny and Jazz become a link to give the players something that they, well, missed (Low chance if Batman is there, but then again that's gonna depend on if the Batfam are in their hero or civilian personas). Like maybe a comment here, a clue there, an item given.

Stuff like that.

I feel like Danny curls his tail around whoever saves him and leans heavily into the damsel in distress act, going on and on about "Oh my hero!" and all that. Some might think there would be a problem with that, but Danny weighs absolutely nothing, carrying him is literally like holding a feather.

Which is concerning because he has both a long and beefy tail that should make him weigh waaaaay more than he actually does.

Jazz definitely carries everyone in a princess carry, regardless of gender and regardless of who it is. Has a modified carry for Danny in regards to his tail but that's really it.

Maybe the players get sneak peaks that there's something more in regard to their constant damsel and randomly spawning ally. Maybe knowing them gives them access to stuff they, reasonably, shouldn't and when they're present with the group, their presence changes some things.

This was honestly just an excuse for Danny to be a damsel in distress, not gonna lie.
