Sorry, I havent been active that much. I'm back 2 school so I haven't had time to draw but thanks to how easy the assignments are I've gotten 25 credits so far this quarter, I'm speedrunning the educational system. Anyway I've actually been working on a drawing these last 2 weeks, im chipping away at it every day about 15 minutes. I'll probably upload it before totk releases but I'm really excited to release it! The composition is a little weird, and I haven't done anything like it before, so its not the best but its good practice. My anime sketching has gotten better, even if all my practice is small practice segments of me drawing the same anime faces over and over lol. Also every art advice video I watch has really been hammering the use of references when learning so I'll probably look at reference when drawing from now on instead of being lazy ehehe. Anyway I just posted a practice sketch from earlier. Im preparing for my next drawing idea. I want to revisit sad princess tetra so I'm studying how to draw darker skin, drawing brown skin should be easy to me because my mom has darker skin but idk sometimes I make my chars too yellow prob because I'm also too yellow like the simps sons 💯 Ok I'm going to bed ily goodnight! Speaking of the kiriko standing in for Gotoh, I’ve been rewatching HxH, and there’s a scene from when Gon and co. are trying to retrieve/rescue Killua where Gon gets on the phone with Gotoh and Gotoh says he can’t let him come near the mansion because even if he does believe his claim that Killua has a friend now, how would he know that Gon is really Gon? Maybe he’s somebody who’s altered their voice for this phone call, and even if he met him in person, maybe somebody had managed to alter their body enough to pass as Gon.

When I was watching it, I once again presumed that Gotoh’s logic fell somewhere between the justified paranoia of a professional assassin’s employee and an excuse so over-the-top that the “fuck you” nature of it is easily understood . But later I remembered the kiriko trick at the end of the series and was like fuuuuck, the real explanation is so much simpler. Ofc he finds it very plausible somebody could fake being Gon: the butlers are canonly aware of the existence of kirikos and that they can be hired for shapeshifting services so perfect that even a nen-using trained assassin who’s known him his entire life doesn’t notice the difference.

Right? I noticed this as well, and I love this observation--it's a fantastic example of Togashi's writing and how well thought out it is! It does seem somewhat overly paranoid at the time...until you think about all the further context provided in the series. Also, there's such an irony in Gotoh being the one to say that, and then after his death he's replaced by a Kiriko mimicking him...

It's also worth remembering that Illumi himself has an ability to change his face, so of course the Zoldyck family would be on guard about shapeshifters and people/creatures with the ability to mimic voices and such. There are many ways someone in the HxH world could potentially be deceptive, with the wide variety of nen abilities and magical creatures.

it's difficult to even say I'm an anime fan in general bc the vast majority of them are so bad it's unreal. I've been thinking about this lately since I've been doing hxh rewatch #5 due to having 0 new shows to watch bc for every remotely decent well executed show that comes out there's like five hundred of the following: stupid light novel adaptations (always pervy), shitty isekai series that are virtually identical from each other aside from one stupid gimmick like "I got reincarnated in another world...but as a toaster oven?!" (also always pervy), disgusting harem series (pervy goes without saying), boring unfunny moeblob slice of life where literally nothing interesting ever happens, ecchi series full of the most degenerate fanservice you can imagine, b-list shounen that treats the female characters like shit, low budget poorly animated copy paste yumejo/fujobait show (nothing like the elite fujobait shows of MY day), etc etc.

like it's obviously bc they pander to the ones who spend the most money on merch and dvds and stuff (so hardcore otaku who are almost always total freakshows) & prioritize quantity over quality, but its annoying bc the medium has so much potential if they would just stop paying the animators sweatshop wages & focus on making series that appeal to a wide audience instead of pumping out slop for loser men who just want wish fulfillment, waifus & fetishes that completely alienate any other audience. I feel like this has been getting worse lately, I used to be able to watch a small handful of enjoyable shows every season (not all of them were masterpieces obv but just fun stuff that wasn't totally disgusting lol) now it's like maybe 2 a year. bah.

#at least dungeon meshi anime is coming out soon. + i have golden kamuy s5 & sk8 s2 to look forward to thatll be fun.#and the haikyuu movies obv. altho im still salty we arent getting a whole series for the literal best match in the whole manga #oh and isnt uzumaki finally getting an anime. we shall see abt that #the junji ito adaptations we have gotten so far are NOT good. lol #anyways id probably still be doing a hxh rewatch even if there were good new shows out lol. its the ultimate fave for a reason #my post

Man I love Chrollo so much. Like genuinely he is my little squishy! 💙💙

HxH has been my special interest for nearly a decade now. I found it back in 2014 when I was 11 and here I am now 2024 a week from being 21 and still loving it. I’ve rewatched both series countless times, read the manga over a bunch, and I’m always up for watching the movies.

I’ve literally put thousands of dollars into merchandise but here’s a tiny portion:

This series and Chrollo specifically have been a huge comfort to me and I studied/analyze these characters throughly. Though it wouldn’t be obvious by my page on here as I like to keep things pretty lighthearted and genuinely don’t take things too seriously. It’s sorta like a break from my serious writing I personally write.

Honestly the only post I plan to take seriously coming up is my Chrollo ASD “diagnosis” if you will. Gotta have fun with the things you love when they’re as serious and nuanced as Chrollo and the Phantom Troupe.
