so i was scrolling through studio lan's twitter and saw that they retweeted a fanart of lu guang kissing cheng xiaoshi on the cheek???? like??? HELLO???

AND they retweeted a post someone jokingly made saying shiguang made out??? SO LIKE...STUDIO LAN WHAT DO U MEAN BY REPOSTING THIS??? LIKE??? SHIGUANG CANON????

Lu Guang feels most comfortable talking to CXS about the 'important things' while CXS is in a dive.

Perhaps because he's not talking to CXS face to face, or because he knows CXS can't realllyy get angry with him while he's in another time.

in the aftermath of episode 5's trauma (*sounds of sobbing in the background*), Lu Guang didn't tell Cheng Xiaoshi his answer to this question:

...until episode 6, while Cheng Xiaoshi was in a precarious, time sensitive, high stakes dive. (Doudou will get kidnapped at literally any moment and Lu Guang choses NOW to tell Cheng Xiaoshi about his reasoning)

Along with the above screenshot, I theorize that one of Lu Guang's most prevalent fears is that CXS will be angry with him... possibly because Cheng Xiaoshi has done so in previous timelines?

I'm still trying to get some finalized analysis for the trio, but for now, I'll go with, 'Lu Guang tries to avoid mistakes and regrets, while craving control over his future, for the sake of keeping those he loves around.'

Whereas Cheng Xiaoshi has similar motives - to keep those he loves around - but in manifests differently. Cheng Xiaoshi tries to prevent those he loves from leaving him - in the dives and in his own life - through his empathy and 'saving' others, and he believes that his ability lets him prevent others he cares about from leaving. (Albeit he's other people in the dives, but the point still stands.)

... Hmm.. perhaps both Cheng Xiaoshi and Lu Guang believe that their respective powers allows them to prevent(Lu Guang) or fight against (Cheng Xiaoshi) the past, which will repeat itself and kill those they love.

er... I can phrase this better. Cheng Xiaoshi reacts and adapts in an effort to prevent his 'light'/those he cares about from leaving him again. He hopes that everything will turn out okay, no matter what happens, because of his actions, his abilities, and his optimistic empathy. Lu Guang also seeks to keep Cheng Xiaoshi alive/around always, but he does so though control and a more 'planed' approach. He's not adaptive in the slightest. Rather, he'll keep everything in a meticulous order and try to keep any unpredictable factors (Cheng Xiaoshi) from messing with the future he wants. (That makes him sound so awful but Lu Guang means all the best and Cheng Xiaoshi trusts him and NOTHING WILL BREAK THEM APART STUDIO LAN YOU BETTER KEEP IT THAT WAY KDJFLKSDJF)

And Qiao Ling tries to avoid a repeating past through avoidance.

So that's what I got so far. Eventually I'll go over everything again and do a more detailed analysis at later date. The fear that I'm wrong about something is getting to me... any corrections or thoughts are much appreciated!!

Lu Guang under truth serum would be an insane thing to experience for Cheng Xiaoshi. Can you imagine your tsundere best friend suddenly professing their undying love for you and saying that they would do ANYTHING for you. I would simply pass out.

It was hard for the girl in the partly red skirt, who had collapsed to her knees and clutched her hands to her chest, crying her heart out at the sight. She wouldn’t hold the paper- the note, the last gift- the last thing that Cheng Xiaoshi would ever give them. Her tears would stain it and it would become unreadable, she would say later. But now, she was wailing and sobbing and wondering when she teased him too much, or didn’t give him enough. Wondering if she had been nicer, kinder, even, that then her little brother would be where he always slept, alive and well on the bottom bunk upstairs. It was hard for the boy with the white hair, who stood there blankly staring up into the dead man’s eyes as if they held all the secrets to the universe. Maybe he had a delayed reaction or didn’t want to cry in front of him, even if Xiaoshi couldn’t see his tears, but he looked up at the rope around his neck with dry eyes, wondering when he messed up. He should have seen the signs, he shouldn’t have pushed him as hard- he shouldn’t have brought him over the edge, he should have pressed harder for the answers- But he’s selfish, and next time, he’ll go into his life like it’s the only thing that matters to him. And he is. Lu Guang doesn’t know how long he spent looking up at his body, nor why he stayed long enough for Xiaoshi’s funeral. Looking back, he would probably guess that he needed closure for this timeline, but looking at the open casket with Xiaoshi’s closed eyes and the rope burns around his neck doesn’t feel very satisfactory. At least if he looks at the body just right he can pretend that Xiaoshi is just asleep, and will wake him up tomorrow with a concerned look on his face asking him what happened. Lu Guang doesn’t know how Cheng Xiaoshi always knows, but he does. ___ It was the little things at first. Lu Guang knows he was pushing hard, but he didn’t think it was that much at the time. That was probably the point where he started acting off- The chief of police had given them a photo based on a murder case in order to find evidence of a man named Da Haoran, who everyone believes to be the murderer of Jing Fang, though there is little to no evidence. Of course, the price wasn’t a low one, and Xiaoshi agreed.
