Wishing you all a blessed Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus!
JOKE-OGRAPHY:
1. The Sacred Heart: In Catholic tradition, the month of June is dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, a devotion which sees Jesus's heart as a symbol of God's boundless love for humanity. Moreover, the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus is being celebrated today (June 7th) this year.
2. Original Imagery: The Sacred Heart is depicted as a human heart wreathed by thorns (like Jesus's crown of thorns) and divine flames/light, with a bleeding wound in the side (a reference to Jesus's postmortem spear-wound), and topped off with a cross (for obvious reasons).
3. My Imagery: In this piece, I depict the Sacred Heart in three stages, separating the symbolism into simple parts and relating them to Jesus's Passion, death, and resurrection.
4. Wordplay: A few years ago, I was struck by the similarity between the words scared, scarred, and sacred, and knew I had to use them together for some kind of wordplay. I just didn't know what kind of wordplay would fit. I usually use my wordsmithing for dumb jokes, but this felt like it needed a different approach, so I waited and wondered until an idea finally hit me just in time for the Month of the Sacred Heart!
5. Fun-Fact: I think this piece marks the first time I've depicted Jesus crucified in Tomics. It's not in my usual style or tone, but that's because those are geared towards comedy, and this is meant to be reverent.

TryannoMax, Issue 25, October 1977
Cocytus Comics Group, Story by Barry McDermit, lines by Midge Joulet & Dale Ethree, Colors and Letters by H. Haddaway.
Issue #25. It's a quiet day so the Core team gets some R&R. TryannoMax hunts down Dr. Underfang for a long-overdue confrontation, DeinoSteve and PteroDarla finally have that date, and Wally Manmoth visits home.
So when Ape-Tomic Pyle returns from the grave to exact his revenge, only TriceraBruce remains to stand in his way. One wounded dinoid against a living nuclear ape-pocalypse, with the populace of Wisconsin in the balance.
Running for an astounding 80 issues, TyrannoMax was the headline comic from Cocytus in the 1970s, and was the primary motivator behind Buzby-Spurlock buying out Cocytus in '83.
While the comic series is considered the root of the empire that would create the animated series and live action movie, the concept was first introduced in short story "Humanity, My Young Cousin" in the pulp-sci-fi magazine Stunning True-Life Tales of Science Fiction, a few years earlier.

TyrannoMax is my AI dinosaur test kitchen, where I see how ideas work out before trying them on more serious projects.
Here, I've used Dall-E 3 through Bing and Midjourney to create comic assets, which I then de-color and rework into inks in a similar fashion to my AI-comic reworkings like Robots Ruined the Internet and Let's Gib About Ib, or any of my other fake comic covers. TriceraBruce and Ape-Tomic Pyle were generated with Dall-E 3, and the background was made in Midjourney.
This makes the basic inks, from there I correct anatomical problems, cleanup AI wonk, and generally re-ink where things are needed.
Once I have the "inks" its then a matter of doing the coloring and graphic design work the old fashioned way. I used my recreation of the 1981 DC comics palette for my colors, used post-processing to get the printed look, and there you go.
My prompt format for the characters is:
A -anthro wearing , long tail (if a dinosaur) , comic panel by 1968, in the style of 1960s Marvel comics
Because all weights are averaged a bit, to get a 1970s comic look, you have to prompt for late 60s, ortherwise it looks late 80s.
Background prompt was:

Defiant: The Legend of Brithnoth graphic novel, written by Andy Winter with art & colours by Daniel Bell & Aljosa Tomic.
This was originally published in 2015 and limited to only 100 copies. This is a special addition with improved quality printing and extra story & art.
Cover by Daniel Bell.
This is a story based on a poem written by local monks after the Battle of Maldon in Essex, England circa 991AD. Its a crackin' yarn and superbly illustrated throughout (plus its got lots of Vikings in it!).

What do you think Jesus's first word was?
JOKE-OGRAPHY:
1. "Annunciation" (announcing something) and "enunciation" (pronouncing something) are two words that sound very similar, so I took the Biblical Annunciation (when the angel Gabriel announced Christ's birth to Mary) and set it beside an imagining of Jesus pronouncing -- or enunciating -- His first word. I alluded to this pun a couple weeks ago in a previous cartoon's description, then decided it ought to have its own comic.
2. My sisters suggested "Abba" as Jesus's first word. I thought it was perfect, because it's a plausible first word for a baby, since it's made up of simple syllables -- like "mama" or "dada" -- but it's also got that Son-of-God vibe to it.

ubhhh for the witcher some people have been shipping yennefer and tissaia. Which like, cool ship what you want.
