OOZEPUNK

WHAT IS OOZEPUNK?

Oozepunk is the term I'm coining for the microgenre of urban heroic sci-fi horror-fantasy that first exploded in the mid-80s with movies, shows, and comics like Ghostbusters, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Toxic Avenger, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Hellboy, Street Sharks, and others. Lots of natural crossover with Biopunk and Cyberpunk, aesthetically and philosophically.

Your childhood trauma didn't let you forget Roger Rabbit heavily featured colorful nightmare slime, did it?

A ragtag gang of weirdos (often horribly mutated--more on that soon) band together to save a city that doesn't understand them. Grimy sewers, abandoned buildings and graffiti'd brick walls are lit up by neon lights, streams of mysterious, glowing goo and/or the unearthly lights of futuristic particle weapons--ideally all of the above!

Beyond the "cracked concrete and gutters full of liquid plutonium" aesthetic, Oozepunk prankishly asks "What if catastrophic aberrations of science, particularly DUMPING TOXIC FUCKING WASTE STRAIGHT INTO THE ENVIRONMENT created fucked-up monsters... but they're HEROIC fucked-up monsters!" These catastrophic aberrations of science grant the heroes incredible powers, but COST them their place in human society. (Ghostbusters and Roger Rabbit eschew character mutation in favor of discovering that the undead and olde tymey cartoons are real [and exploitable!], respectively. 'Busters and 'Toon sympathizers alike are treated like insane idiots and/or frauds in their respective universes.)

Oozepunk heroes are challenged not only by strange supernatural beings, but by human society itself. The Ghostbusters battle with local politicians as much as they do the undead. In the recent (and delightful) TMNT: Mutant Mayhem, Splinter warns the Turtles of humans and their obsession with "milking" mutants for their blood--on top of the villainous mutants they're trying to thwart!

Crank up the creep factor in Oozepunk and you get awesome anti-establishment goo-horror like 1988's The Blob, The Stuff, Street Trash, and probably a bunch more. Toxic Avenger is a batshit crazy splatter-comedy (i.e. classic Troma)... and still garnered sequels, a kid's cartoon and toyline!

And there's a Shredder's Revenge-style Crusaders beat-em-up coming out next year??

This looks dope as shit

Ghostbusters and TMNT are the only current, "evergreen" (or radioactive green!) Oozepunk franchises I can think of off the top of my head, but Oozepunk elements are buried in almost all of the stories and settings I love the most. Heroic kaiju like King Kong, Godzilla and Gamera paved the way for our freaky friends, but so did comics characters like Fantastic Four's Ben "The Thing" Grimm, The Hulk and Swamp Thing. Hell, I think I blame SESAME STREET of all things for starting me down the Oozepunk path.

Surprise! I've loved screaming trash monsters with secret hearts of gold since I was a fucking baby, and they've ALWAYS been there for me!

But it's not just Oscar, Sesame Street as a whole is a proto-Oozepunk utopia, years before the big Ooze-splosion of the 80s. Muppets, monsters, talking animals and chill humans all live and work together to scrape by with a little dignity in a gritty-but-wholesome urban world!

Sesame Street, a decades-long reminder that educational childrens' programming can and SHOULD be cool as hell looking and loaded with all kinds of friendly mutant freakuloids.

Yes! We’re so closed to the first season of HAZBIN HOTEL!!!!

I want to make a fic where Angel Dust has a lover that’s like Jessica Rabbit so I’ve decided to type a headcanon/ scenarios with him!! I think it would be very cute & interesting!

Angel Dust x Jessica Rabbit reader

( sorry if Angel Dust personality isn’t accurate!)

~ This one has spice 🔥~

At first Angel Dust thought of you as another customer, you know paying for the deed with him. But you just wanted to talk to him and get to know him. Which confused him at first, but then he went along with it .

Your attire really got to him, he couldn’t help but stare at you and your clothing. “Hey, my eyes are up here” you snapped your fingers in front of him, “Ah! yes sorry” his face flusters. Your conversations with him are very calm, you would talk on how your a well know singer and sings for clubs and pubs.

He felt a connection with you, with the both of you being famous and well known.. other than the fact that he’s in the adult industry and your more in the singing industry but what’s the difference? Your both performing in front of a crowd that pays to see you both?

At the end of the he’s time with you, you left him your number for anything time he “ wants to see my sing, give me a ring.” finally leaning down and pecking his cheek and walking away, leaving him flabbergasted.. “Woah.. What a woman!” He grinned proudly, as Valentineo tells him to get back to work..

Later in the week while your at your night pub, you were putting on your makeup as you heard a worker saying, “ Miss Y/n! You have a fan that wishes to see you before the show!”. Starring at the clock, you shrugged. “I’ve have ten minutes”, as you stood up. Fixing your hair as you open the door and see Angel Dust, holding a rose in his hand.

“Oh, it’s you . Come in” you greeted as you let him in your dressing room, as you closed the door. “Didn’t my note tell you to call me?” You questioned as you sat on a lounged chair that’s in your dressing room, he nodded. “Welll- yes. But, I wanted to see you before you go on stage!” He smiled as one hand scratched his head while the other held out the rose.

You smirk as you walk up to him, your height slightly higher than his. As he backed himself up against the wall, “Aw. What a sweet gesture” you smiled. He chuckled nervously as you took the rose and kissed it, then placed it in his hair. Angel Dust blushed, “Um. Your welcome toots” he mumbled. You giggle as you sit down in your chair at your vanity.

“ You won’t mind if you do my makeup for a bit? Will you?” You smiled back at him, he smiled as he arms grabbed multiple makeup products as he cheered- “Let’s get to work~!”

He finally powered your face as you turned you around, “Ta-da!”. You open your eyes, your face beautifully glowed and sparkled. You gasp softly as you smiled, “Wow. Beautiful, thank you”. Angel Dust shrugged as he smirk, “Nah. It’s nothing toots!”.

You giggle as you heard the stage director saying, “5 mins to stage call!”. You then smile as you lift his chin up and say, “Hmm~ How bout you sit in the front and watch me sing?”. Angel Dust face lit up as he smiled, “I be happy too!”.

Angel Dust sits himself in the front, as other people gathered around too. He gags a bit from those who are smoking around him, but then the lights come down…

A soft voice can be heard as a beautiful leg comes out of the curtains..

Y/n appears, her dress just as gorgeous as her. Angel Dust mouth hangs low as the others howls and whistles, “Wow”.. You smoothly move around your body around the stage as jazz music kicks in as you sing.

Everyone now hypothesize by your singing and your body- you stare at Angel Dust. Who is just as awe stuck as the fellow customers, you decided to play around with this and started waking up towards him. Angel Dust tenses up as his shoulders went up, as he realizes your coming to him.

The other customers staring and drooling over you, as you walk up to Angel Dust. You then slowly walk down to his seat, where you realize he order a drink for himself so you take the drink and press your lips against it, and looking up at him.

Angel Dusts then gulps in anticipation as you place the drink down as you lean back and sit on his lap, as everyone gasps around him. Still singing but now whispering your song into his ear, your soft voice making him feel fired up.

Angel dusts bites his lip, “I can’t handle myself” he thought as you turned around in his lap now facing him. You sing as you lift his face towards yours, as you finished .

“ Why don’t you do right?” Pulling his chin closer, your lips nearly touching each other. Angel dust’s face now red, “like some other men~”. Pausing for a second as you kiss him, “do~”. As you walk away, returning back to the stage. Looking back at him, then the curtains closing behind you…

Angel Dust remained in his seat as he stared at his drink and said, “ Imma sleep with her tonight”.

Quickly running back to be dressing room, hopefully your waiting for him~

This one is a little longer because I have a lot of ideas in this one. Remember! I can do requests! And I’m gonna make more of these too!! Maybe I should to Husker next! We’ll see! )

Random Yandere Headcanons: Platonic Parents: Jessica Rabbit & Roger Rabbit

They keep things balanced between the two of them.

If the child is a human, they will be very protective since humans compared to toons are very fragile.

If the child is a toon as well, they will be just a bit less protective.

Roger is more of a spoiler when it comes to the kid.

That isn't to say Jessica wont but she knows that they can't always spoil the child.

When it comes to any potential partners both take different approaches to the matter.

Roger is going to be the overprotective dad in every sense of the word while Jessica is going to watch the situation as it unfolds. If she gets any hints that whoever their kid is dating is bad news, she will make it known and try to end the relationship in any way she can.

So, we can assume that the Little D's have lives of their own outside of work, right? Like families, friends, hobbies, and so on. But could they get married? Like, to a normal demon? Are there rules against it?

When people talk about Roger and Jessica Rabbit's relationship, it's quite common to hear these two views:

"Betty Boop says, 'What a lucky girl,' implying that Jessica's the lucky one for ending up with Roger, not the other way around. And the original novels suggest that toons use humour to judge attractiveness, not appearances. In toons' eyes, Roger is way out of Jessica's league because he's funnier."

"Jessica says she loves Roger because 'He makes me laugh.' Isn't that sweet? She's not a superficial gold-digger, it's true love!"

Those two ideas do not go well together.

If funnier toons are believed to be more attractive, then Jessica loving Roger because he makes her laugh would be the equivalent of a human woman loving a human man because he's handsome. It would be shallow.

But it's clearly not meant to be shallow, because we've seen how devoted Jessica is to Roger and we know she'll do anything for him.

So I have another idea.

Betty Boop used to have a love interest called Bimbo. He was a dog.

And both Roger and Jessica speak well of Goofy, who is also a dog.

My theory is that the most attractive toons are the anthropomorphic animals.

In other words, toons are furries!

But Jessica doesn't love Roger just because he's a furry. It's because he makes her happy. It's because he treats her like a person, not a pretty object. It's because he's taken the time to get to know her better than anyone else.

That's the real depth to their love.
