a stupid worldbuilding thought about Purge AU
Do you think there would be social criticism about the Purge in a yandere-normal world, not because of human rights violations against darlings, but because yanderes have to meet a financial requirement? Because if you’re going to have a captive for a year, you have to prove you can finance them.
Like HONESTLY in this economy, what person under 30 could take the added cost of living for another adult? Like is a yandere gonna have a darling locked in a shared flat with three other normal roommates? Or worse, in their parent’s house?
What if darlings could sue that their standard of living dropped too far? For example, a darling makes a six figures a year but gets caught off guard by a broke ass yandere on the Purge, then is trapped in a dingy apartment for a year.
There’s a movement of darlings and normies alike who advocate for a higher and higher minimum financial requirement, meanwhile yanderes rally to boycott the Purge because the barrier to entry is too high.
A yandere on national television holds up a cardboard print-out of their darling (after their purge application was denied) and is like just because I’m a music major doesn’t mean I’m incapable of taking care of them!!!
The Purge would become a bourgeois and upper-class event in the eyes of the younger generations. Furthermore, I bet there would be an uptick in unlawful kidnapping/murders during recessions. Haha.
Makes me wonder about government-sponsored benefits for yanderes who didn’t make the cut. Like you get a disability check because you’re so coochie deprived.

Reader couldn't believe it, they had gotten a purge letter.
A fucking purge letter from Gojo Satoru, their teacher. And now they still had 2 days until the purge.
Megumi knew that something was wrong right away, he and Reader were quite close friends. However knowing that Reader wouldn't tell him if it was just him asking he asked his classmates and Gojo.
So after class they ambushed Reader.
"Reader, why are being so fidgety?" Megumi asked with a worried tone. "I am not!" Reader retorted, hearing Gojo scoff causing them to tense up.
"Yeah, you are! Did you get a purge letter or something?" Yuji shot at Reader. "You know we can help you right?" Kugisaki added. But reader knew the condition under that, as long as it isn't one of them.
"I am leaving, I'll see you guys after the purge." Reader grins at them, causing Gojo to smirk, then their classmates to figure it out.
Even if Reader somehow escaped he had all year to convince them to just live with him. After all, they need a good parent figure. Perhaps he can convince his students to help...

Reader had made sure they had all what they needed, a weapon, a bag with basic necessities and a comfort item. Reader put on their comfort bracelet, all of their doors were locked and now they just had to hide.
But it was a bit too late.
"This is your Emergency Broadcast System announcing the commencement of the annual purge.
For 24 hours every yandere action will be legal except Murder and causing any permanent bodily harm to your darling, 'marking' however is allowed if your darling is a romantic darling..
The police cannot be called, the paramedics can only be called in deathly situations"
Gojo couldn't wait, his child would finally be safe in his arms. He was sure that the process would be a bit awkward, but as long as Reader would be a obedient child... Everything would be fine.
But unfortunately for his patience Reader won't be going without a fight.
At first Gojo knocked on the door, hearing Reader shuffle away quietly to hide.
"Reader~, can't you open the door for me?" He asked in a humming tone. "Papa will be kind then."
He could basically hear them hiding away. He kicked open the door. Reader heard this and bit their cheek. They couldn't make a noise, Gojo needs to think they aren't here.
Unfortunately for you Gojo heard you, he entered the room you were in. He could see that Reader was desperately trying to find a place to hide. But when Reader saw him they backed up to the window.
"Come here." He told them. "Why don't we just turn in quietly, huh?"
"No." Reader mumbled. "You are going to leave, and leave me alone." Gojo chuckled. "Reader, my dear child, you have no say in this."
His eyes widening as they broke the window behind them, his anger and annoyance increasing. "Don't run away~!" He cooed. "It just gives me a reason to hurt you."
"Shut up!" Reader shouted. "If you take one step closer I'll jump out of this window without using my curse technique!"
Gojo glared at Reader. "Don't you dare."
"Then, stay as you are." They hissed, causing Gojo to chuckle. "You don't make the rules." he said.
"It's still the purge." Reader hissed. "You have no legal rights over me."
"Yet." He said in a happy tone. "My darling child, are you foolish enough to believe you can escape?"
Gojo didn't want to activate his curse technique, he knew Reader gets uneasy even using their own.
He took a step forward, and reader did just what they warned they would do.
They jumped out the window.
Gojo now had no choice but to activate infinity to try and get Reader safely on the ground, which he was able to. But not without injury.
This caused him to laugh, his child looked like a deer running away from the predator. "You should be praised for how much of an idiot you are." He hummed, Reader glared at him.
They lost their freedom rather quickly, but perhaps they can win the next purge.

really random Yandere purge au idea:
Yandere’s have to get a license the before the purge to be able to kill other people and be able to take their darling. And after the purge (and once they have their darling) they have to do a darling registration thing or whatever. The government makes them do this to keep track of the darlings and so later on then can make sure they’re still healthy physically and at least somewhat mentally. If a Yandere files a registration then they will have a little background check and a test (to see if they’ll harm the darling) done on them and the government will decide if they’re suited to keep their darling or if the darling should be freed.
(sorry if this is absolute gibberish or makes no sense, it just popped into my brain. Have a good day/night and don’t forget to drink some water)

I love the idea of Yandere's needing to have a background check to make sure they aren't going to harm their darling, just the people keeping their darling away. Maybe they have to fill certain criteria as well like any other test, they have to show they can remain calm when a darling is screaming and biting, they have to show they can be kind even when secretly angered, they have to know certain medical knowledge, and so on!
Yandere's are allowed anonymity, as once they're known surely their darlings will try to leave or fight. But Darlings are still notified that they've been chosen, and are only given the bare minimum info such as the dates to appear for testing and examination (for their safety, but most darlings never show. these tests just go over what the yandere could have missed, and go over what the darling would like to go through if they consent to being kidnapped and/or also have feelings for their yandere).
Ah! This is such a fun idea to explore for the purge!! The government having more of a hand in it makes me wonder if the CEO of lovely smiles has something to do with it?

The yandere purge idea has been on my mind for a while now. I feel like Sonya and Ethan (jock and cheerleader) would be the worst besides Matteo (biker bf). Sonya and Ethan have the ability to work together and they have tons of money that can use to fuck you up, but Matteo on the other hand is more fast, smart, and plans ahead. With Sonya and Ethan you could probably evade them for a few hours. Since Matteo has a motorcycle though…you’d be caught fairly quick. He also isn’t super delusional so it’d be harder to trick him.

The school wouldn't give them the day off, even if they did get a letter. 'The children need to feel as if everything is normal, even in the purge week.' Was the school's reasoning, Reader taught seniors at a middle school, of course they knew what the purge was! But as their co-teacher got off Reader felt like the yandere bought off the school.
Which was correct, not like the school would admit it tho
"Teacher (l/n)! Did you get a purge letter?" One of the students asked randomly. "Why do you ask?" Reader questioned as they looked up from their paperwork. The whole class was talking about the Purge, some family members had gotten a letter and some had just reached the age they could be taken by platonic yandere's. "Well, you aren't married and from what we know a yandere doesn't have your custody!"
"Yes, I got a letter." The class fell silent. "Then why are you here? Didn't Teacher Kim get off?" A male student asked concerned. Reader was everyone's favorite teacher, so these questioned weren't a surprise. "From the evidence I have been gathering, the yandere bought off the school." Reader tried to speak as casual as possible. "Will you go with them peacefully? My papa had given my mother the letter, and they are happy now..."
"I will be damned if I go down with a fight, if someone wants a relathionship with me they can ask me out as a sane person." The students looked at Reader, they had never been looked this serious. "Will you use your quirk?"
"If I must, I must. Now, with all these questions I will almost believe your working with the dear stalker of mine." Reader teased their students, knowing full well that some of them would. "Now pack-up, my dear students, as the school day is over."
The Students did as told, and when they were about to leave Reader said; "If I do not see you after today, don't get stuck in the rats den."
Did they understand what Reader meant? Absolutely the fuck not.
Reader had locked the door of the classroom, closed the blinds and quickly changed to a comfy track suit that will allow their wings to grow.
Their quirk allows them to walk on clouds and sleep on clouds, basically their quirk makes them a fancy angel. So Reader's genius plan is to find a comfy ass cloud and stay there until the Purge is done. Since almost no one has a quirk that allows them to fly that high. Even if their yandere is one of the highest ranking Yandere's ever- so most likely a villian who decided to be 'nice' or a pro-hero.
When Reader was flying in the air they heard the, oh so similiar, broadcast warning.

"How wonderful." Reader muttered as they flew up to a cloud. "How comfy, I missed this..." The clouds are lovely to sleep in, to hide from all the busy streets.
Something Hawks adored, Reader's anti-social nature when over-worked means; cute Reader sleeping in clouds~! So when Hawks sent a form to the goverment, he knew were his little darling would hide.

Not that Reader knew that the pro hero Hawks would be a yandere. Especially with his obsessive fans. But once registered as a Yandere, always a Yandere in the laws eyes. "Oh how, desperate you must feel~ to fly so high, my dear angel."
But Reader is a better hider then Hawks gave them credit for. It took him around 13 hours to even find the cloud Reader was tagging along on. Reader was sleeping on the cloud's.
'How adorable, a sweet angel sleeping on the clouds!' Hawks was really lovesick, the obsessive look in his eyes could pierce through Reader as he flew to Reader, using his feather's to pick them up from the cloud. Hawks pulled out a rag of choloform and before he could gag Reader, Reader woke up immediately trying to get out of his feather's.
"I suggest you don't struggle Angel. Unless you want to become my Prey~!"

Random idea
i had this bug in my brain, i can imagine in universe where yandere purge is a thing, i can guess that occupations taking care of somebody like a nurse, a preschool teacher or a nanny operate with highly stoic emotionless attitudes towards their charges, as to not attract attention. Imagine someone from normal world getting isekaid into yandere purge world while being in these sort of professions.
Without knowing the rules of this world they would just go about on their job being really talkative and helpful. The test of a staff not commenting, being like: well, some people do want to become stay at home darlings ". While the isekaid person has no idea.
And before the purge the poor soul gets the shock of their life receiving a heap of official looking letters with really weird content.

Purge night never really scared you. You hadn’t ever had anyone claim you as their darling. At least not until this year that is. But it didn’t seem like your yandere was very dangerous.
Hell, you couldn’t even think of anyone that you see around you often. You definitely think that if someone was crazy obsessed with you and stalking you that you’d know it.
You weren’t too worried. You had locked all your doors and windows, you had also had a knife near you at all times. Even though you really didn’t think that anything was going to happen.
You could feel your eyelids getting heavy as you try to keep your eyes focused on the TV in front of you. You planned on staying up all night but as your head begins to droop you couldn’t help but fall asleep.
You don’t even know how long you were asleep, but you jolt awake at the feeling of someone holding your wrists.
Your eyes shoot open. Your ankles are already tied together, as well as your mouth muffled. You begin to violently try to get out of the man’s grip.
“Oh, you’re awake! Aww, but you were so cute when you were sleeping” Tooru sighs, finishing things your hands. He watches you yell muffled words at him as well as try and get out of the ropes around you. “Quite the fighter, aren’t we?” Tooru smiles, his smile still warm as if he wasn’t kidnapping you right now.
“Oh, perfect!” Tooru says, noticing the knife on the coffee table in front of you. He holds in his hand, gently bringing it closer to you. “Be good, because I would really hate to do something I don’t want too with this knife” He says, still smiling.
Now Tooru knows he would never touch someone as precious as you with anything remotely dangerous. However you don’t know that.
So as Tooru holds the knife only a few centimeters away from your neck, you fearfully nod your head that you would indeed be good for him.
Tooru simply smiles at you, glad that he was finally able to have you.

ayo hold up… what if multiple yanderes were after the same darling during the purge? is that even possible? or are there rules in place so that a darling can only be hunted by one yandere? like, whichever yandere pays the most or proves themselves through purge office’s checks?
and if it IS possible… are the yanderes given a heads up? like “hey btw other yanderes are after them. good luck lol”. god imagine the chaos. poor darling lmao
Yes, multiple yanderes can put a claim on one darling! The darling would just receive multiple red letters (government announcement of a claim).
Yanderes aren’t notified that their darling has several claims, however, because that would be too beneficial for them. The darling has to have a fighting chance, after all. Also I imagine that if a Pathetic Shrimp of a yandere heard that their darling has several claims, they would be tempted to break the law and kidnap them early.
Celebrities have to notify their mail carriers or else they’ll receive an influx of thousands of red letters.
I like to think that yanderes can send a love letter with the red envelope, so Darlings can try and figure out who’s after them. If caught during the Purge, that job switches to the yandere so they know who to kill. I bet the victorious yandere also frames their letter as a trophy, or stuffs a rival’s letter into the mouth of their decapitated head.

"Public" execution. They stream the execution on the website and make it a statement to all other abusive yandere's what will happen if they don't comply or follow the rules.
