Their arms were still tangled together as they walked, making it exceptionally easy to feel when Crowley stiffened at the sight of two approaching figures down the path. He grunted something under his breath and automatically moved to stand in front of Aziraphale, which was all he needed to put the clues together.
“Other hunters?” Aziraphale asked. Crowley nodded.

Crowley cussed under his breath and gave the bookshop another wary look. It should have been comforting to learn that his unpredictability was predictable, but that uncertainty piled on top of his already impatient craving was an uncomfortable combination. Still, it was better than the alternative: that Aziraphale was in some kind of trouble, or, God forbid, avoiding him on purpose.
