Hey. It doesn’t matter if you’re curling a 40lb dumbbell or a 5lb dumbbell. It doesn’t matter if you’re squatting 150lbs or 30lbs. Or even no weight at all. It doesn’t matter if you’re jogging a 17 minute mile or running a 7 minute mile. You’re working hard and you’re improving and I am so proud of you.

I am in a serious funk...
I have been working out and tracking calories for a half a year now and I just feel burnt out. It's hard doing all the things with no results showing on the scale. I know the scale doesn't show the whole picture. But when you easily need to lose 60 lbs to get back to a healthy weight you need the scale to move. We are also moving next week so the stress of that could be adding to my slump mood. I think I am going to try to take a little break for the month of July and not weight myself and also do intuitive eating. Hopefully those changes, and being in a new place, can help my mood so I can continue in with my weight loss journey.

Just trying to "step up" my workout game! But really, I did not expect the first workout of this program to he so difficult! Working around the step really intensified all the moves, and I burned a lot more calories than I thought I was going to! My goal is to wake up early and do these workouts every morning and also continue my evening workouts with the hubby. Working on my own transformation! #bbod #transform20 #stepup https://www.instagram.com/p/BwAD29Yh1rL/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1wkrttplc3mj3

After mynworkout this morning I kicked my shoes off into what has become a normal pile in our apartment! I have been working hard since the beginning of the year to get into a normal exercise routine and these shoes remind me to lace up and put in the work every day! So far this year I have lost 17lbs! It's great progress, but I still have a long way to go to reach my goal. #workingout #shoes #bbod #weightloss #workinghard https://www.instagram.com/p/Bv4MdxYB8V5/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1o9u7148wdvut

i wish more runners understood how individual running is for every person. i know runners who go straight back to training the day after a half marathon, but i needed a full week off before trying an easy run. some runners do double run days, i typically only run 4 days a week. some thrive off of using fruits and veggies as their main source of carbs, but that leaves me hungry and unsatisfied.
running is a personal and intimate sport. it’s not meant to be the same for everyone. comparison fuels dread and unreasonable expectations.
honour your own needs. self-trust fuels joy and unrelenting passion.

Friendly reminder to try and drink a little more water than usual today. Water is always good and your brain will work better

some of the most important health & fitness tips I wish someone told me when I started out:
modify your moves. Don’t worry if you can’t squat down all the way or can’t run for too long, you can only get better from here!
I don’t care what your hyperactive fitness instructor tells you - drink your water and take a break if you need it. you are not a machine. don’t destroy your health trying to get fit
protein and carbs are your friends
don’t ask random blogs on tumblr serious health questions you could look up or ask a doctor
don’t try to match your instructor’s pace during a workout. It’s form, not speed. Do not compete with them. 10 good lunges > 20 sloppy ones
don’t have weights? Find something heavy - a textbook, water bottles, whatever works for you
IF YOU ARE HURT DO NOT WORK OUT
IF YOU ARE TIRED AND EXHAUSTED DO NOT WORK OUT
PUSHING YOURSELF TO “THE LIMIT” DOES NOT MEAN WORKING OUT UNTIL YOU’RE READY TO THROW UP
Always do a quick warm up and cool down
Treat yourself often
forget workout clothes. You don’t need Nikes and expensive yoga pants. An old tee shirt and some cheap gym shorts will do just fine
Stay hydrated
Trial and error. Success is a bumpy road
Do not compare your chapter one to someone else’s chapter 10
Fitspo posts and before & afters are great but remember you can be the same height & weight as someone and never look like them. You never know the full story behind that picture
Try not to measure your progress in strictly numbers
Calories do not reflect nutrition.
Peanut butter is higher in fat but are healthy fats
Fruits have natural sugar in them that your body needs DO NOT AVOID FRUITS
1200 calories is barely enough to survive
Please do not do just cardio alone
Quality over quantity. A 30 minute intense workout will always beat a half ass 2 hour elliptical workout
Try different things. You may like running, you may not. Maybe yoga, swimming, dance, hiking, etc. Try things out.
YOU WILL NOT BULK UP NO ONE ACCIDENTALLY BULKS UP
All you need is your body to work out. Don’t stress over gyms
Do it for YOU. Not the boys and the crop tops and the “stares”
Rest days are essential. Take as many as you need. Never skip a rest day, your body needs to heal
Losing weight does not guarantee happiness. It never does. Don’t put your other problems on hold to focus on your body, they’ll catch up with you ten fold later and it’s not fun

My husband and I planted some fruit trees in our yard and the lady at the nursery told us that we shouldn't let the tree grow fruit for at least the first two years because the tree needs to focus on growing the tree, not the fruit! So progress takes time, and in the end the results will be so worth it!
