Vasco would probably knock on the glass, shove it a couple of times and try to reach in (maybe have Machete give it a go as well since his hands are smaller), but if it didn't help he'd just cut his losses.

Machete would proceed to note down the information of the vendor who maintains the machine, contact them and have Vasco's 2.50€ refunded to him.

Adding to the affection thingy, I imagine that brushing might be a very affectionate thing. If one of the dogs has long hair for example, to brush it must take so much time that it's really an act of love if their s.o. Does it. Also instead of backscratchers there might be belly scratchers available.... If they don't have someone to scratch it.

Do the dogs in this universe enjoy things like being pet? Is scratching behind someone's ear or rubbing their belly a part of close friendships and relationships for them like back rubs and playing with hair are for humans irl?

I suspect many humans enjoy being petted too.

The displays of affection in the dogverse, platonic or romantic, aren't that different from our own. Ear scratches are a popular and common gesture, I guess if you're close enough to play with someone's hair you could also scratch behind their ears if they were a dog, you know? Then again ears are sensitive and used in communication, so maybe there's a slightly higher degree of trust required.

You may have already answered this, but would chihuahuas and other small dog breeds also be tiny compared to larger dog breeds? Or is it more of a nutrition access/wealth means people are taller like in reality?

Their height and body type varies but it's all within normal human range. A person with strong borzoi influence would be more likely to be tall and leggy compared to someone who resembles a chihuahua, but the difference isn't that significant. They're all individuals with varying combinations of nature and nurture, so you might also find a petite leonberger or a buff poodle.

There is just so much lore for Machete and Vasco, and now developing lore for Vasco’s formal partner and their respective partner.

And all of these little details and interactions. Every time I read more I just think how much I would enjoy episodic writing centered around the events these 4 would be entangled in over the years.

Thank you! I'm truly flattered you find my characters and their comings and goings interesting! It's all just stuff I put together in my brain for fun after all, and I've never felt like I have that spark or innate ability to come up with engaging stories.

I imagine Vasco and Ludovica have a big painting (portrait but with two people) in Vasco's house (probably his father insisted of getting one of these, people used to do it in the old days, especially wealthy ones). While it's very serious and formal, in the way all these portraits were, it is also very intimate (at least it's implications). I imagine Machete just staring at it sometimes, feeling small while looking at the big painting. And sad, maybe jealous but I don't think he'd resent Ludovica. He, most of all, understands.
