You freeze. You hadn't heard Copia enter your bedroom. He hadn't knocked. Or perhaps he had, and you just hadn't heard him? You supposed it didn't matter now, anyway; he was here, and you had to address him.

"Papa, I-"

"You may call me Copia, child. It is alright."

"Copia. R-right." You take in a shaky breath and look down, avoiding eye contact. "I am just... not feeling so well tonight. I am sorry if I have disturbed you."

You flinch when you hear his footsteps approach, and then the bed dips next to you. "Nonsense, child. You could not disturb me even if you tried. Please, tell me what ails you. Perhaps I can help." His voice is soft, gentle- like that of a father comforting his child. "I can tell that you have been crying."

"Don't worry about it. I'm fine."

When you look up, he's staring at you. You panic. "O-okay, maybe I have been crying. But that doesn't mean-"

"Stella..." His voice his soft. "It is okay. You don't have to tell me what happened. But please- perhaps there is something I can do to help? Tell me what you need." His hands reach out to envelop your own. They're soft, steady- warm. "I am here for you."

You sigh heavily. "Papa- Copia- I just... I feel wrong. I don't know how to explain it... but I've just been so goddamn dysphoric-"

Copia smiles softly. "Ah, si. I understand." He traces gentle shapes onto the back of your hands with his thumbs. "You see- you and I are the same."

"The same?"

"Si." He pulls his hands away, lifting up his t-shirt above his chest.

A few inches below his nipples sit two top surgery scars, light pink in color. "The same," he whispers.

He drops his t-shirt and pulls you into a tight hug, cradling you gently against his chest. "It will be okay," he whispers, pressing a gentle kiss against your ear. "You and I- we will get through this together, okay?"

"Okay," you murmur against his chest.

"Now, I want you to listen to me.

You are so special. You are loved. You are important and you are valued. You do not deserve the hardships that have been brought against you, but you persevered regardless. You are stronger than you think, caro. I know you do not think so, but I know otherwise. And until you believe the same, I will believe in you for the both of us."

He kisses your forehead. "I love you, piccolo mio."

"I love you too," you manage through tears.

A long time passes, and the two of you stay like that. Copia continues to hold you until he feels you relaxing further against him.

"Sweetheart, why don't we do something else for a little while. Would you like to play the Nintendo with me?"

"Yes, I would like that very much."

. . .

"Tesoro, you are terrible at this game," Copia laughs, watching you crash your character's car into the wall of the race track. He pauses when you don't respond, and your character remains stuck. "Tesoro...?" When he looks down, he chuckles.

You're pressed against his side, the controller hanging loosely in your hands. Your eyes are half-lidded, and you're completely relaxed against him.

"Ah, that explains it," Copia whispers softly, pulling the controller from your grasp with a soft coo. You don't protest, instead just yawning sleepily and curling your arms around his waist now that they're free. With your face pressed securely against his side, you breathe in his scent. It's comforting; he smells like men's shampoo, cheap cologne, and oddly enough; rat treats.

He chuckles softly as you snuggle close, noticing when your breathing turns soft and even. He pulls you closer before continuing to play his game, making sure to press soft kisses to your hair and whisper sweet nothings in your ear in-between rounds.

Caring Caregivers

As they were sound asleep in their bed, Camila and Philip were abruptly awakened by three small voices crying out for them.

Rushing out of their room, the two guardians burst into another one.

When Camila turns on the light, she and Philip see Little Luz, Little Vee, and Little Hunter all crying in their beds (Luz and Vee share a bed), with Hunter hiding under his covers.

Philip takes a seat beside the blonde, while Camilla rushes over to the girls.

“My babies,” she softly began, sitting on their bedside. She beckons them both for hugs. Their cries were quieted once they cuddled with their mother. “What happened?”

“Me and Vee had a nightmare, Mom,” Luz whimpers.

“Yeah,” Vee agrees with a hiccup. “There was a big scary sludge monster. He had scary glowy eyes and-and scary skeleton teeth. He took you to his dark scary cave away from us, and we never saw you again.”

“Oh, girls,” A sympathetic coo came from Camila. “It was just a dream. No big scary sludge monster is going to take me away from you.”

“They’re not?” Luz softly inquired with a sniffle.

Camila shakes her head and flashes a determined smile as she holds her fists out in front of her. “Nope. And if he ever did, I would pa-pow!” She proceeds to make a few punching motions. “Right in his ugly face!”

The girls giggle at this, feeling a lot better by the fact that their mama would be okay.

She was so brave and strong.

“Hunter, what’s wrong?” Philip tried his best to comfort the small boy, putting a parental arm around him. “Everything’s all right now.”

Hunter’s sobs come to a slow stop as he pulls his covers down, a timid look in his eyes. “I-I had a really bad dream,” he admits, pulling his red cardinal plushie close.

“A goopy antler monster. He chased me into the woods. Flapjack tried to protect me, but he… he…” He sniffles. “He died. The monster killed him.”

Philip was a bit puzzled by this story. “Your… bird doll?” he questions, referring to his plush.

“He was a real bird in my dreams,” Hunter somberly explains with a sigh, looking down. “I should have fought that monster, but I was too scared. I’m such a baby. I wish I were brave…”

“Now, Hunter,” Philip said in a soft, soothing voice. “Being scared doesn’t make you a baby. I was scared when I heard you, Luz, and Vee screaming. But did I hide under the covers?”

“No,” Hunter replies with another sniffle. “You ran in to check up on us very brave-like.”

“You see, bravery doesn’t mean you’re not scared. Bravery is doing what you’re afraid to do,” Philip explains, softly patting Hunter’s head. “If you can just face your fears, then I know you can find the courage to beat them.”

The brunette’s speech ends with a sincere smile and a hair ruffle as Hunter smiles back at him.

He hopes to someday be brave like Philip.

…

The lights in the room were now off as Philip stood at the bedroom doorway.

“Goodnight,” He whispers as Little Luz and Little Vee were sound asleep. As he begins to close the door, Philip catches the sound of a soft whimper. He looks to see Hunter, who has the largest set of sad puppy dog eyes imaginable.

Philip decides to creak the door open for him so he’s not in complete darkness as the two share a smile.

Hunter instantly falls asleep.

Turning to leave, Philip’s lips are met with a surprise peck.

“Hey,” Camila starts with a sweet smile, “I heard what you said to Hunter in there about being brave. I know he’s technically not yours, but you do a good job at taking care of him.”

“As do you,” Philip compliments her back, a bit of blush appearing on his cheeks.

After a light giggle, Camila takes Philip’s hand, happily leading him back to their room.

Back To The Egg!! As an avid Wings fan, I feel ashamed for saying I don’t believe I have listened to that album. I might have heard a few songs off of it, but now that you’ve mentioned it I’m gonna have to give it a listen since I’ve been on a Wings kick lately haha!

I think Abbey Road is a pretty solid album. Love the Golden Slumbers medley off that album. The first ever Beatles album I ever bought was Let It Be and I remember instantly falling in love with it! I find it ironic that that was the first Beatles album I fell in love with since it was the last one they recorded together, but honestly I love the vibes from it ✨

Yes I encourage everyone to give "Back To The Egg" a listen. Along with "So Glad To See You Here" my favorites are "Arrow Through Me", "Baby's Request", "Getting Closer", "We're Open Tonight" and those medleys "After the Ball / Million Miles" and "Winter Rose / Love Awake". Let me know what you think when you get a chance to listen through the album. 🙂 I always forget that "Goodnight Tonight" was not on the album but was released as a single around the same time. Highly recommend that song too though.

Love the Golden Slumbers medley as well 💛 it sounds to me like Paul could be singing a page from his diary, even though I know he rarely writes autobiographical songs.

Watching the Get Back movie really brought the songs from "Let It Be" into a whole new light for me. It was great to see all those songs being performed. Hopefully you got a chance to watch it! Yes, there was a lot of tension during those recordings but so many sweet and funny moments too. If you've seen it, let me know your thoughts on it 🙂

I also think "For You Blue" is one of George's best Beatles songs 👍
