Thomas and Mitchell in season 2.
The whole emergency was the first of Buck’s experiences learning from dying old men, each of which seem to move him closer to a revelation of sorts. Thomas and Mitchell’s relationship showed him that he had to work to get the kind of life and love that he is striving for, something which has become a cornerstone of his character and something which still seems to be developing now.
Plus the whole thing was heartbreaking and beautifully shown, the entire lives of these two characters summed up in less than 5 minutes. *chefs kiss*

Episode 2x09 thoughts
Seeing Hen with hair is so weird lol
Is there just a random plate of cheese on their table?
It’s pretty cool seeing what you have to do to become a firefighter. I didn’t know.
Goddamn, the sexism/racism isn’t even subtle.
Ugh, love Chimney.
Going against his command?? I don’t recall him telling her not to add more water??
It really sucks that as a minority, you have to go above and beyond and be the best at everything to prove you’re worth anything.
I feel like one of these firefighters looks like Tommy. But idk if I’m just seeing things.
Oh it IS Tommy!
They saved the drowned kid and they’re both crying together, they’re so sweet 😭

Brian Thompson
Known to 911 fans as the old-school Captain of the 118, Vincent Gerrard.
He appears in the Flashback parts of the 'Begins' episodes, 2x09 and 2x12.
His headshot here shows him in his role in the second Mortal Kombat film (1997) and he's played action roles from 'Pass the Ammo' to 'Jason and the Argonauts', 'Cobra' and even one of the punks stripped in 'Terminator'. He has also played several aliens in Star Trek. (image below shows him in ST: Enterprise as Adm. Valdore)
You may know him even better from Heineken or Budweiser adverts, though.
He prefers active sports such as windsurfing and Hapkido rather than a traditional gym. When told he was being rejected for the role in Star Trek TNG (because he was too large to fit the costume previously used by Christopher Lloyd), he quickly volunteered to alter it himself.

I absolutely adore all the begins, most especially Buck's, but then how can I not say Eddie's and Hen's and Chim's...so I wont say any begins, it's too close to call. Then I want to say the shooting and the lightning strike but damnit I can't choose between them either so I have narrowed it down to two eps and I know that's not the point of the exercise but like it or lump it. (In the nicest possible way) drum roll...
