I don't know if it's the pink dress that reminds me so strongly of fanart Mercymorn or just some guy holding a cigarette that makes me think of Augustine, but I can never look at this picture without seeing both of them.

John said he ment for the saint name to reflect the caviler rather than the necromancer. (I can't find the exact quote in harrow)
But I think it's more complicated than that
I think that the appellation was the feeling the cav inspired in the necromancer.
C brought M joy. When M was with her best friend, she was expressivly happy even though with everyone else she was critical
Jr brought A patience. When A was with his young brother A was patient, even though he had no time for anyone else's ( except johns) bullshit
And P inspired G's sence of duty. P was the only other person (besides john) who could make do anything he didn't want to do.

New Jod thought:
Everyone who meets the Emperor of the Nine Houses wears the best clothes they can, which explains the ostentatious outfits the Tower Princes wear.
Jod, however, is always in jeans and a t-shirt, except in the cases where he's drunk and naked. "I'm God, Joy. If I put on a fancy suit, that'd just elevate me more in the eyes of the Cohort. It's better if I just wear something casual, so I appear more approachable."

Mercymorn has unchecked untreated anxiety and has been justifiably paranoid about God finding out she was plotting to kill him for thousands of years now and I'm sick of everyone acting like her shit personality isn't just textbook untreated anxiety/ a person who desperately needs to feel in control and is prevented from feeling she has a shred of control over anything

So Mercymourn and Augustine are kismasis? I've read in several places that Harrow the Ninth was written with Tamsyn Muir's interest in Homestuck in mind. Many people have pointed out one of the references is in the second person perspective, but this has got to be another, right? That, and Harrow herself seems incapable of romantic attraction without first refining her hatred for the person to details only the James Webb Space Telescope can pick out.
