Gale: hiding under the platform, trying not to die, and sometimes casting spells

So I got my ass whooped today by the Apostle of Myrkul. MY DURGE WAS ON 1 HP WHEN KARLACH AT 2 HP HIT HIM WITH THE KILLING BLOW. Jaheira was passed put on the floor and Lae'zel was stunned at 4 hp.
I WAS ALMOST DONE FOR AND THEN KARLACH CAME IN AND BASHED BRAINS LIKE THE BARBARIAN SHE IS OMFG.
Sorry the quality is shit, I play on steam deck LOL
Now I'm fighting the Gith at the beginning of act 3 and I can't fucking get past them. What is this mockery?!

Jesus fucking christ.
An account of the Ketheric boss fight:
Jack'ed tries to solo Ketheric, immediately gets FUCKING BODIED as Ketheric smites the everloving shit out of him. Dude is instantly unconscious. Astarion comes to the rescue, heals Jack'ed, 'kills' Ketheric
Then, round two into the Apostle of Myrkul fight-
Threw bag of bombs and explosives at the Apostle. Missed. That's fine, they're all just lying right next to him. He's still at approximately half health. Maybe we wont set off the explosives now that three of us are in the blast radius though

The Apostle swings. Misses Jack'ed who is unconscious AGAIN and cannot be healed. Misses Lae'zel and Astarion who are in the danger zone.
Hits explosives.
Takes at minimum 118 force damage plus whatever the fuck else damage that I can't calculate from the combat log. EATS SHIT AND DIES BY HIS OWN HAND (does also take Lae'zel down with him)
Fight over, we win, Karlach has 19hp left, Lae'zel and Jack'ed are both unconscious but ALIVE and soon to be helped by Astarion who SOMEHOW managed to stay above half health, god knows how
MVP of the match Astarion, and maybe regretting choosing Lae'zel over this obvious BEAST of a man
Good god someone get these guys a bedroll

Possibly unpopular opinion but bg3 could have ended after the apostle of myrkul fight and I would have been just as happy if not happier
#the ending of act 2 is the best part of the entire game ill die on this hill#if there werent so many loose ends to tie up it would be a perfect end#the introduction of the Apostle is some of the best work ive seen in a long long time on all fronts#and Ketheric's death if you convince him not to fight twice is so poetic and its such a fantastic wrap up to isobels story#i have so many thoughts about it#bg3#baldur's gate 3#baldur's gate iii#ketheric thorm#general thorm#bg3 act 2#myrkul#Apostle of Myrkul

i'm farther along now but found it very funny how we beat the apostle of myrkul by the SKIN of our teeth like i def thought it'd go smoother this time with a paladin, a cleric, an aasimar, astarion being fast & sneaky and wyll with radiant buffs but i super forgot about the phase 2 no healing thing. (tbf it did go a bit smoother, i did it on my first attempt and while he still ate a necromite -so no achievement there- he only got a chance to eat one)
the beacon of hope spell was super clutch lol
(my paladin build is probably not optimal but whatever)

going insane over the game picking astarion for the post-ketheric scene with dame aylin btw
she spends 100 years in captivity being tortured in ways beyond mortal comprehension, then gets to stomp in the head of her tormentor? and the game chose astarion to fill the player role for that scene?

I love the fact that whenever the party fights someone really evil an threatening, Shadowheart manages to put the main opponent into timeout (even if for a single turn).

thought id screwed myself in the mind flayer colony bc im on single save mode, had already used the restoration pod (It doesnt refresh on harder difficulties), and then exhausted all my health and spell slots exploring and had no potions or anything. thankfully i accidentally discovered a cheese where if you change your characters strength in the custom mode settings to explorer, their max hp increases along with their actual hp. Then if you change it back to tactician the max hp decreases but they keep additional hp from the first change.
#its free real estate!#still have to fight ketheric + myrkul apostle without any divine smites though which is just...tragic#thank god for dame aylin at least#bg3
