A revision of Claire’s “pushing” and who really benefits from it

A list of red flags I have been thinking about.

I was reading this post and reflecting on why it felt, like @brokenwinebox mentioned, that Carmy was always in the passenger seat in the relationship with Claire (physically and metaphorically); their post is amazing, by the way, talking about this concept of "pushing" and how it should be a mutual thing.

I want to go back to the party and the context of Carmy and Claire's past. All of it is enhanced by that interview with Molly we have been discussing.

My biggest question here is:

Why? Why the hell Claire "could tell" that Carmy wanted a relationship with her? They hadn't spoken in more than a decade, for real, wtf kind of signal did she see that he wanted to be with her? Does she think he has been in love with her all this time? Did she get that idea when she supposedly met Mickey? Because if she pursues Carmy, assuming he has feelings for her but only assuming this because of what other people told her, that is kinda fucked up. It all goes back to Fak being the one that tells her that Carmy loved her after all that shit he said while being stuck in the fridge. I swear to God that the more Molly says things favoring ClairexCarmy, the more red flags I see. Did Claire pursue Carmy knowing it would be a sure thing. "Oh yeah I remember you, you had the most obvious crush on me"

There is also the context of both of them growing up in the same spaces, Carmy very shy and Claire a very popular girl. Did she hear how lonely that was, which made her assume he was avoiding her because of a lack of social experience?

In their first phone call, she never let him explain if he was bussy, even after all that talk of her being supportive of the restaurant she said "don't make this weird," Claire was completely dismissing that Carmy was indeed doing something important to him; she never offered to work around both of their schedules, almost like she knew that if she "pushed" enough, she would get what she wanted.

And even that, their first date or hangout is not to a coffee place, maybe a restaurant with Claire actually interested in Carmy's profession and passion, or any other place they could get to actually know each other after, I repeat, a decade of not seeing each other. She brought him to a party.

She knows the Berzattos and how gatering will go on their avail, she knows Michael will set things on fire, she knows he comes from a family of addicts, and she knows carmy had difficulties on social environments (we can assume by the pictures they had around, taht Carmy attended to her birthday party and other stuff surely).

So why the fuck, on their first "date," not only does she insist on going to a party, but she tells him that he "owns her" to go there? Where there is alcohol and other people that he may felt rejected for as a kid? She knows this is a scenario that may cause him anxiety or discomfort, and she insists he must go. Maybe I am projecting a little bit here, since I am autistic, and at some point in all my friendships or relationships, I have to have a conversation about places that, because of my disability, I don't enjoy.

(little note aside: the excuse "my friend needs me" to convince him to go was utterly pathetic. Almost as much as "you own me.")

But what does this mean coming from Claire in the "pushing" thing? Does she feel she can push him to become (kinda by force) the person that will hang out in the same places as she does, assuming that is still what he wants?

She also knows that he probably felt cast aside from social events because of his shyness, and she invites him to provide all the things that may cause her to look like his only anchor in this stressful scenario.

She brought him the soft drink, tried to tell other people what a cool job he has, and told him what to do to comfort and upset a friend of hers. It felt like she was walking him on a tutorial on "how to be normal," and I didn't like that at all. Again, I may be projecting here, but the dynamic was kind of hollow regardless.

It is not like it is bad for Carmen to socialize and whatever. But she removed his agency completely; it feels like manipulation on many levels because she has perceived a lot of his struggle in this area; she also ignored his first reaction to going to the party and flipped her way. Carmy ended up trapped with a lot of immature young adults with whom he definitely has nothing in common. There was no space for actual empathy or connection to him to "come out of his shell." His conversations with Sydney are so natural because of this; there is connection and mutual respect, and he was very out of his shell with her.

The Pushing between Carmy and Syd this next season will likely be in a professional context but also rooted in a (future) agreement on mutual collaboration. But my feelings about this are not only for sydcarmy.

The "pushing" in ClairexCarmy was always in the context of Claire getting what she wanted and Carmy having to force himself to make it happen. There was no discussion, no middle ground, not even a recognition of why certain things have been difficult for you in the past; it is not an actual intention of helping to heal, but an expectation of the other to go your way "because they want you/love you. Claire is sure that only because of her will he want to change, and she will gain his heart by providing the scenario for all these things Carmy desperately wanted as a kid. I am sorry, Storer, if this is the love story you want to sell us, a salvation of all lonely/hurt people, I am very sorry, I hate it with all my heart.

Since it's pride month I wanna talk about something I've noticed in the Red Dead Redemption fandom:

The Bisexual erasure of Sadie Adler and Arthur Morgan.

I apologize if this comes across as harsh, but it's something that's been on my mind since I started interacting w/ this media. And as a bisexual, I wanted to discuss it further.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with shipping these characters with the same sex. Personally, I am a Charthur shipper till the day I die. I don't ship Sadie with anyone but her husband, but I still enjoy seeing the fanart and headcanons of the women she's shipped with.

That being said, these characters are not lesbian or gay. That's literally a fact, and if you think otherwise it is bisexual erasure.

Let's start with Sadie Adler. Her entire character arc is getting revenge on the O'Driscolls for killing her husband. Whom she mourns for years, and talks about frequently with Arthur/other camp members. Now, if you want to ship her w/ Abigail or Molly or whomever, go for it!! But she has loved and still loves her husband. She is not a lesbian, and she didn't just magically turn into a lesbian after Jake's death. If she had any love interests other than Jake, this would make her bisexual. (even Sapphic is still a more appropriate term than lesbian)

The same goes for women in real life who have dated men first, then dated a woman. Just because their current partner is the same sex doesn't mean we can assume they are suddenly lesbian. Calling characters lesbians even if they have been in a relationship with men before is bisexual erasure.

This same concept is applied to Arthur Morgan. He had previous relationships with women. (one of whom he still has strong feelings for) and he is attracted to women. We see this with his greeting dialogue and when he compliments people. I believe Arthur's character is more likely to be bisexual than Sadie's, given his interactions w/ some of the men in the game. But that doesn't erase the fact that he's still attracted to the opposite sex. Arthur is not a gay man. Disregarding his past relationships w/ women is a form of bisexual erasure.

There is a huge double standard here because if these character's were actually lesbian/gay and the fandom decided to ship them with people of the opposite sex (i.e headcanon they are bi), there would be a major discourse.

Whenever bisexual women and men are presented in the media I always notice a few things:

Bi women are "secretly straight"

Bi women "don't know their lesbian yet"

Bi men are "secretly gay"

Like I said before, I am bisexual. And if I'm being honest this years pride month has been exhausting and mildly infuriating with how the community seems to disregard bisexuals in a hetero relationship.

I stopped talking about my bisexuality with people because once they know I have been in a committed relationship with a man for seven years, I am suddenly excluded from the conversation.

I've had ex-friends tell me that I only identify as bisexual to "fit in" with the queer community. I've had people in college assume I was lesbian bc of the way I dressed, and then try to tell me that I must be secretly lesbian when I tell them I'm Bi. (Ppl also assumed I was non-binary bc of the way I presented but that's another story)

This stuff doesn't just happen to fictional characters, it happens to real people every single day. I'm honestly tired of ppl saying "well my headcanon doesn't hurt anybody, they're not real." Yes it does!! You are supporting Bi erasure!!

That's all I'm gonna say on this topic for now. I'd love to leave it open for discussion, but please be nice. This isn't a call-out or me trying to antagonize the queer rdr community. I just wanted to get it off my mind.

While the two are very close friends, they no doubt have moments of tension.

I mean... When they first met they were trying to kill each other.

It would make the most sense for you to be part of the gang.

That way the two often have time around you as you're usually around the group.

For the sake of simplicity, I like to think this happened after the events of Part 4.

The two can often be seen as intimidating around you, but overall just like hanging out with friends.

Before their obsession the two always were with one another.

They are your classmates in school and often like to drag you with them on different activities around town.

The two most likely wouldn't have a rivalry until they knew the other had a crush on you.

Josuke and Okuyasu have similar views on love.

They both seem to believe in their heart when it comes to love, often following it.

Okuyasu is more perverted than Josuke at times but they both believe that their "one and only" will come to them.

So what happens when their chosen sweetheart is liked by them both?

First of all, Okuyasu would definitely be jealous since Josuke already has admirers.

So why can't Josuke give him you?

Meanwhile, Josuke is flattered by his admirers, but his heart truly yearns for you.

I'll be honest, there's a chance they could share, but they'd rather only one of them dating you.

You wanna bet they ask people for advice on how to approach you?

Both of them probably get flustered at the idea of approaching their crush.

Although Okuyasu may be bold enough to come out and be honest with you.

Josuke would do the same with time, although if Okuyasu makes a move first then he feels rushed.

The two follow you around, be it in school or outside of it.

They both refuse to see it as stalking, Josuke may even excuse it as being a "bodyguard".

After all, Kira may be gone... but other Stand Users are still around.

Imagine if they caught each other "stalking" you and confronted one another.

Maybe that's how they realize they both have a crush to an unhealthy degree.

The two would get into physical fights over you at times if pushed hard enough, or at the very least sling threats at each other.

The two are both hopeless romantics, often fanboying about you to themselves.

Everything you do is cute to them.

They both are poor at flirting but try their best.

They're both protective of you and will not give you any alone time.

Their fights with one another most likely alert you to their red flags.

You and especially Koichi can tell something is wrong.

The two tend to follow you around like puppies, competing with one another to have your attention.

They're fighting over doors to open for you, they're offering to make/buy you lunch, they're even offering to help you with a paper or other project you need done.

You're often invited over for video games by Josuke while Okuyasu wants to show you some cool spots around town.

You see, if their rivalry was harmless, it could even be cute...!

Unfortunately... These two can easily become volatile.

They both have a temper and can snap easily.

Which, if you're around, means you have to calm them.

It's a bit difficult but the two melt when you calm them down.

You're willing to do anything to stop their fighting.

They may not seem like it but they can be dangerous yanderes.

If someone gets caught in their crossfire (that isn't you) then they'll be caught in a Stand fight.

They're both easily jealous, even more so when they catch one another too close to you.

The two would probably only make a temporary truce for one of three reasons.

You seem genuinely upset about their fighting, which causes the two to snap out of it momentarily.

You're in danger and they need to work together to protect you, they both care about you obviously.

You're attracted to someone else and they need to get rid of another rival.

The two would not kill one another, they're still friends for the most part.

Plus... Josuke went through so much effort to heal Okuyasu many times before, he's jealous but doesn't want the guy dead.

They're both in this dangerous competition of gaining your attention.

The only way they'd stop conflicting with one another is if they saw their fight affecting you negatively or one of them gives up.

Even if you wanted to pick them both as your boyfriends, they'd still be competitive yet less violent.

The two grumble about the idea of sharing... but anything to make you happy, right?

I didn't realize this until writing this but they would have very similar yandere behaviors.

Clingy, Easily jealous, Volatile, Protective, Affectionate, Easily flustered, Mischievous...

Those are all traits they both share.

Granted, they have different quirks in their personality, but they both even have powerful stands.

They both just want their obsession to be happy.

In fact, your happiness may override their jealousy at times.

Their friendship will always have a bit of a rift in it... but their love for you both brings them together and tears them apart.

It's a complicated situation as they both care for each other and are romantics in some way.

Although... they both dream of hugging and kissing you...

Which brings more fighting.

Their rivalry is constantly teetering in between sharing and fighting.

It's tiring for you to deal with, especially when you begin to notice blood on their clothes.

They wouldn't stop until you force yourself away from them.

That's when they realize what they've done.

The two would probably clean up their act more when they realize they're losing you.

They never wanted to drive you away.

But you feel you have no choice as you're scared by their new volatile nature towards themselves and others.

This is another way they'd make a truce with each other, desperately trying to convince you to come back to them.

The two are willing to put their fights on pause to try and make things up for you.

They may want to fight one another deep inside themselves...

But the two care for you much more...

They'd do anything to have you back, including setting aside their rivalry just to make you happy.

Hiii!

Thank you for all the work you've done for your Elden Ring concept with the reader. I constantly go back to your posts and reread them whenever I start itching for the DLC to come out.

While joining the Tarnished on their journey they finally arrive at Mohgwyn Palace and discover Miquella’s cocoon. How do you think the readers would react when Mohg emerges from the cocoon? Any malice or resentment for kidnapping their close friend etc and seeing them in this state? So far the relationship between reader and the tarnished is one of protection but would this encounter with Mohg start some sort of fire within the reader? Aiding the Tarnished and putting up a fight in the battle against Mohg? Or would they just be heartbroken at the sight idk fluctuating possibilities honestly.

Additionally, I can't really remember if there was a previous interaction between Mohg and the reader or if Mohg just knew the reader due their strong involvement with the Empyrean family and vice versa. If there was, how do you think Mohg would react to the reader's return? Would he be aware of their close relationship with Miquella? Would there be any exchange of words between them? Or idk some underlying beef with the reader since Mohg desires to be Miquellas consort and all.

After the battle, what do you think the reader's reaction would be upon seeing or being face to face with Miquella, or rather his withered hand/corpse in the cocoon after all this time? Given Miquella’s slight reaction to the reader returning to the Lands Between (if I remember correctly from a few posts back), would the reader's close presence to his body once again trigger a response from him, perhaps a more significant one this time? I believe I heard that in the DLC we are required to ‘touch thee withered arm’ in order to enter it but I’ll send more based on this once we find out more or when the DLC actually comes out.

I know this is very long sry! I viewed this as prep for the DLC since Miquella’s cocoon is where our journey will begin. Ahhh so exciting!! the final stretch before we can get our hands on it!

Thank you so much for enjoying my Elden Ring stuff. I find it kinda surprising there isn't more Elden Ring fanfic, but honestly I don't think many people look at Elden Ring or Any Fromsoftware game and think "man this has so much fanfic potential" if we're being honest.

Anyway, I've had a hard time incorporating reader into post-shattering events, but I feel like I have some ideas, so buckle in:

In my head, reader enters the lands between somewhere near Layndell, probably not in the city but close to it. Here they met the tarnished, who they join in on their adventure in return to helping them traverse the Lands.

If we're thinking about Mogh and Morgott, I don't think reader ever met them before the Shattering. This is because they were most likely still in the sewers when reader was in the Lands. However, I really like the idea that reader can connect to other characters though their dreams, so reader meeting one of the Omens through a dream, especially since it's said that Omens are plagued with nightmares, would make a lot of sense. I imagine Morgott meeting reader when they are younger and is still trying to learn about their powers. Maybe this is how reader learns about the mistreatment of the omens and swears to befriend Morgott, which Morgott feels eternally grateful for. However, once reader finds their way into the Lands Between, their visits suddenly stop and Morgott is only left with the memory of you.

I feel like Mogh however is less than pleased about you. I personally don't believe either of the twins were close to each other, due to many factors. So I feel like it isn't until he starts taking an interest in Miquella that he actually really learns about you. Mogh realizes Miquellas connection to you pretty quickly, but rather than feeling jealous or possessive, I'd imagine he'd be more curious on how he could use you to his advantage. I wouldn't be surprised if Miquella made contact with Mogh regarding your whereabouts once he's realized you've returned, but even in the past he's questioned whether or not he should take you back to his palace, in hopes it would appease Miquella more. Speaking of which, yes, even though Mogh isn't obviously possessive, he does hold a lot of resentment towards the Dreamer and Miquella's obvious affection towards them.

If reader came with the Tarnished to Moghwyn Palace, I can't really imagine them fighting along side them, however I do think Mogh would recognize them and definitely have a lot to say, but not wanting to anger Miquella he holds his tongue.

Readers reaction to Mogh emerging from Miquella's cocoon would definitely be a mixture of many things. As much as reader learns about this land, I don't think they full comprehend its powers, so something like this would definitely worry them. I wouldn't be surprised if reader fully thought Miquella to be dead due to the state he's in. Once the fight is over and Mogh is no more, I could imagine reader wanting to take time to be with Miquella alone. Like I mentioned before, Miquella would react to readers return, but this time his reaction would be more obvious. Like reader takes his withered hand and he actual reciprocate or something. Because Miquella is free from Mogh, I could image them being able to meet in a dream once again, this one being what we would see in the DLC.

I can see why Elriel has potential as well as Elucien, just in the grand scheme of things.

Looking at them as a relationship, Elriel has contrast, whilst Elucien has familiarity.

For instance, Aziel is the quietest in the room, but we know that Rhysand often sends him on missions where he has to be cunning and diplomatic in the courtier sense. For instance, it would have been Azriel sent to the Band of Exiles rather than Cassian in ACOSF had Cassian protested. The reason Azriel didn't want to go was that he already had enough on his plate. Meaning he must have some courtier experience. Just not in the same way as Lucien.

Lucien dazzles and beguiles a room, whilst Azriel's power and control is less obvious, it's more kept to himself. Used when needed. Though I will admit, his skills within the High Lord's meeting were the worst showcasing of this. He had a short leash on his temper when it came to Eris, and it required Feyre exerting her power over Azriel to keep him in line.

It was also the first time we had ever seen Azriel in a room where he had to be diplomatic, so it doesn't give a very strong impression of his skills. However.

We see in every interaction with Nesta, who is a born courtier, that he is very quiet, kept to himself. And only expressing small amounts of control of the room when he needs to. Same thing in the Hewn City where he is very reserved, but not rigidly so.

I can absolutely see a romance with the flirtatious, outgoing, beguiling Lady Archeron, with the quietly cruel and cunning Shadowsinger beside her, or willing less than savory courtiers into submission. Elain can light up a room with a smile, and Azriel can darken one with a few choice words.

It makes for an interesting blend of light and dark, that I think, if written properly, could add a lot of power to Elriel as a couple.

Then there's Elucien, where it's the complete opposite.

Elucien has familiarity rather than contrast. Elain is familiar with dazzling people and luring them into a sense of comfort with her words and actions, just like Lucien is. Lucien is very comfortable on a dance floor, or in a room full of people, can hop from one person to the next with ease. And so could Elain.

They would be a couple emitting warmth and light. Very outgoing, and very extroverted. They have a lot of similarities, and naturally complement each other.

Now here's where I struggle with both.

Elain is uncomfortable in proximity with Lucien, that's just a plain fact. She doesn't like being around him and goes at length to avoid him. Not even using his gifts from Solstice. The mating bond is an ever-present reminder of the fact she is Fae, a concept she actively does not want to accept, and hasn't since the moment she came out of the Cauldron. Elain hasn't had a choice since the day Hybern took her, and the mating bond is just another thing she was forced into.

On the flip side, Azriel seems to latch onto Elain because he sees her as this beautiful, warm thing that he's lacking in his life. He doesn't have a mate and can't understand for the life of him, why his brothers have a mate and he doesn't. It seems, near logical, to believe Elain should have been with him. Afterall, three brothers, three sisters. All destined to be together. It does make some sense, but his reasons for latching onto her are viewing Elain as a concept, rather than a person.

It makes sense why Elain doesn't want Lucien, or doesn't want to accept the mating bond. And Azriel's reasoning for wanting her do poke at some underlying trauma he has of never being wanted or feeling accepted because of what happened to him as a child.

Lucien no doubt feels a similar way to Azriel, but handles his trauma differently, as they are different people.

Elain, Lucien and Azriel have far too many similarities and differences that blend perfectly together to create this contrasting image for it to be coincidence. Lucien, bright and warm with the darkness of being hunted and abused by his brothers. Azriel, dark and cold overwhelmed by the darkness of being abused and tortured by his father and brothers. Elain, bright and warm, with the darkness of her choice being stripped away, and new magical powers that we have yet to see.

So, there's a choice here. Contrast or familiarity. Both come with new challenges. Including facing what she is, and understanding and accepting she is no longer human, but that there is choice in her new life and body, despite it being forced on her.

I don't think Elriel or Elucien should be based on Elain *choosing* them, it should be based on Elain finally coming to terms and understanding that choosing to enjoy her new life with whoever romantically, is her choice. Choosing between Azriel or Lucien is not the choice here, and a very weird corner to force her into. It feels like stifling and trapping her in a box where what exists is only which romantic partner she'll choose.

Elain enjoying herself, and growing into her character, no longer hiding and stifling her magic and fully embracing her new person is the choice.

What I fully believe should happen is a friendship.

Lucien and Azriel are too, too similar for it to be coincidence, they are quite literally the mirror images of each other. And I think they could find comfort and solace in each other's experiences. Azriel needs help finding confidence and joy within himself, and Lucien needs to learn to unpack his trauma and not hide it behind a face of bright happiness.

I think the three of them could have a beautiful friendship that involves exploring the good, the bad, and the ugly of their characters. Learning to heal themselves before even crossing into the territory of lovers.

Whether Elain finds the bond as a natural part of her and slowly begins to see Lucien through a different lense, or Azriel as the contrast she craves in her life, and her feelings of love returning to her like they were in the human lands, I have no idea. But I fully believe it doesn't have to be a big fight, it can be natural.

Whether Azriel finds comfort and warmth in Elain, or finds a partner who can provide him with a fresh start and a new world view (cough Gwyn cough) I have no idea either.

Or whether Lucien learns that he doesn't have to hide from the face of his trauma and learns to face it fully and slowly begin to heal from what happened to him, finding love and forgiveness within himself I have no idea either. When it comes to Lucien, I think his biggest focus will be settling bad blood, and finding comfort in familial bonds.

When Beron is dead, Lucien can see Eris and his other brothers again, and they can begin to cease the sibling rivalry caused to fester by Beron. He will learn of his true heritage, and reunite with his mother. Learn his has another father, who will treat him as a father should a son. Lucien won't be alone anymore.

The mating bond is said to cause harm to those who reject it, but at its core it is also a spell. Lucien belongs to the Spellcleavers. Whose to say they wouldn't figure out a way to lessen the effects or reject them altogether?

Or perhaps Elain finds comfort in Lucien's family too, another fresh start to her new life.

My point is that to base healing and finding your person over who you choose romantically is not the story I believe Elain wants or needs. I think she should find her own person first and learn to heal from her trauma in her own way and time.

Whether her story includes Azriel or Lucien, I have no idea. All I can say for certain is that I really hope she gets to develop her personality and character first, before she is put in a romantic position, and I hope the same for Azriel and Lucien.

So I one million percent agree that Ingo and Emmet would probably clock Elesas crush right away, even if they are aroace themselves, they see Elesa as a sister basically and know how she is (useless lesbian (she is bisexual w/ a woman leaning preference)) I definitely think of them as a trio who grew up together so they probably watched her go through her awkward teen years getting crushes on every pretty woman who was nice to her, but Skyla is a different situation obviously so they mutually agree to come at it from a different angle this time, much to Elesas dismay

I think Emmet would be super direct about it but think he's being slick because he isn't SAYING what he really means, right? But saying "I am asking for no reason in particular if you are single and also into women :>" and then dropping a "thank you for answering my random question that has no ulterior motive!" and Skyla would be like . Uh huh. Okay . (I don't know her personality SUPER well but I know she and the twins have slight beef over the more superior form of transportation planes v trains)

Emmet would also definitely try to be a "just go for it why are you so scared??" kinda guy because his concept of romance is heavily based on how he's seen it in media, but he hates watching it so it's really only the stuff he can't avoid? So hes like "obviously most relationship drama comes from not confessing so just get that part over with before it causes an issue" and doesn't ENTIRELY understand the nuance of being scared of rejection even if the other person seems interested (as well as adding on the sapphic problem of "is she flirting or just Really Friendly?")

I think Ingo is a little (lot) more empathetic than Emmet, not on purpose I just think Emmet genuinely lacks empathy and forgets to make up for it with sympathy at times, Elesa doesn't take it personally, but Ingo is absolutely a little more in tune to a social situation being stressful

Ingo, though, is also painfully aroace and his concept of love and romance is less whst you see in (straight) media and moreso in how he's defined it personally as somebody whose never felt it . He imagines it feels different from how he cares about Elesa, but she has to explain it's not that easy to really differentiate, because to love somebody you also usually love them a lot platonically as well as romantically. And that would absolutely perplex him just a smidge, because he sees love as this unreachable thing for him that's so distinct from everything else when it's really not. People just hype it up so much because of how it feels in the moment, but in reality it's actually rather difficult to define and Ingo thrives off precise definition.

He would encourage her to go for it, maybe a bit too obviously at times (no Ingo, deciding to loudly exclaim that you and your brother have somewhere to be, conveniently leaving Elesa alone with Skyla is not slick as you think it is!)

Ingo and Emmet would also absolutely try to set aside whatever feelings they have on Skyla and fully support Elesa in her relationship until the 4 actually managed to start getting along naturally, which happens eventually, it just takes time because the twins are very stubborn

It would absolutely lead to scenarios though where the twins are just a bit too pushy out of love and Elesa would probably have to tell them to back off, because romance is finicky and you have to let it happen naturally or else things get janky. I don't think they would fully get it until put into a train metaphor though

"If you try and run a train before the tracks fully built, or the engine is installed properly, even if it goes somewhere for a little while it likely won't reach it's destination" and they both go ohhhh.

Honestly I think that metaphor Ingo would come up with on the spot in an attempt to relate or process what Elesa is trying to explain, and then once they hear it everything clicks much better and they back off from trying to "speed things up", though in true assholeish brother-y nature, they have to bully her juuuust a little bit (Emmet going "WOW ELESA your face sure is red, is it too hot in here? Maybe you and Skyla should step outside for some fresh air :>" and Elesa making a strangling motion with her hands while Ingo is fighting off a laugh.

I do think that it would earn some laughs once Skyla and Elesa are actually together, and Skyla would probably have to drop the fact that she was painfully aware of the brothers attempts to push them together, much to Elesas horror

the thing is i very much understand the appeal of lupcretia narratively bc they are foils who betray each other and then forgive each other because the force of their grief and guilt brings them to an understanding and i also understand the appeal of blupcretia bc its a three person relationship who disagree on something major and split apart leaving one party feeling abandoned when the other two agree against her and what does that mean for the fact that the rest of their lives outside a horrible timeloop are supposed to start soon Because of that decision and disagreement like i get it narratively its interesting!! but here’s the thing: i just have an unshakeable belief that lup is straight

Thank you for PoF it literally rewired my brain a normal amount eons ago when I first read it. Every time I make a new character for anything and I start to worry maybe they're just a little too unhinged, I remember PoF, and know that I'm valid and so are my insane little horny characters 😌❤️

I am so excited that you say this because it's important to my heart! Insane little characters with strong wild opinions or reckless horniness or huge blind spots or weird personality quirks or frequent fuckups they often learn very little from are the heart of stories that keep my interest and provoke reaction from me as a reader!!!!

Let every character be a character!! I have never been more bored as a fanfiction reader than the other day, when I read a fic where only the villains were allowed to be rude or irrational or petty or angry without immediately apologizing in uniformly articulate and modern "I've learned what people are supposed to say in apologies" speak. Because they're a Main Character! They're a Good Guy! But sometimes good guys and main characters are going to fuck up!! Sometimes they're going to be bizarre! Sometimes they're going to be at odds with other characters who are Good Guy Main Characters, over things that may or may not be a big deal for their characters!

Listen!! Sometimes I write a character talking shit and I'm wincing the whole time, not just because they're being an asshole, but because I know they're going to double down on it later! Because they just,,, don't think or feel the same things as the person they're being an asshole to! Do I the author agree with one more? Probably! Do I necessarily have to resolve "and this one was right, so the other one apologized"? No! Characters conflict with the other characters! It's uncomfortable to write sometimes! But my level of comfort or discomfort with the uncomfortable is part of writing stories where THINGS HAPPEN and goddammit I am out here for things happening otherwise what is even the point. >8U

i love that the rise of the internet is contributing to theatre culture on a whole, especially with bringing eyes to certain off-broadway or underground productions (speaking more directly about ride the cyclone). but i am very annoyed by the internetification of theatre in the way of like. fandom culture and forcing these poor actors to be permanently related to certain roles and having to pull back the curtain on certain things that should just always remain a mystery, bc theatre is all about that mystery and of letting the audience sit down unaware and be immersed in something completely new

there's this girl on tiktok/youtube shorts who talks about being a 'diagnosed sociopath' (which afaik isn't a thing anymore and she's too young to have been alive when it was a diagnostic thing -- i assume she just means ASPD and is using buzzword language, but it doesn't really matter either way because...... psychiatric classifications are a farce) & she'll discuss what makes her angry, how she gets revenge and/or protects people, how she forms attachments, n how she prioritizes different aspects of her life, and i keep watching some of these shorts like "this.... isn't sociopathy??? everyone with sense does this???" and then i look in the comments and everyone's going "GOD this is such good advice i wish i could do this so easily but i feel sooo bad about it 🥺🥺🥺🥺" and i'm like. huh. girl you either gotta stop being so relatable or i'll have to acknowledge a very obvious thing that i've known about myself for ages,

okay so like i have this one mutual that got me really into shipping Sokka and Azula, (@balsa-margarita , hey bestie <3). And I really want to do something with that, But I have no confidence whatsoever in writing Azulas pov. I do, however have full confidence in writing Sokka and his pov. I feel like I depict him better than any other canon character I write, so maybe I can work with that.

this specific idea is still very new and im still working through the specifics but like, you know those Zuko stories where something happens that throws the course of the story completely away from canon and Zuko's redemption arc coils around that event like a snake and like launches him into Sokka's arms and a lot of his redemption is deeply inbedded in Sokka too??? (Think 'The Art of Burning, Leaving it all behind/Risking it all, Blue I think is another one) I want something like that, but like Azula.

Maybe even without the shipping part of it, but I really want to do a fic where Azula gets an actual support system and has her 'redemption' revolve around that, whether that be the gaang, the water tribe, ty lee and mai or even maybe ursa or zuko if i feel like having the 'repairing relationships' thing a part of it.

i also really want a large portion of that story going into her relationship with zuko and what specifically went wrong there and how it can be fixed to where they act like normal siblings and not what you see in canon. Same with Ursa and Iroh.

So by the time they even meet Amaldyne will 1) have preconceived judgements (despises him) and 2) be in so deep with Eityr that neither of them have room for close relationships of any sort in their lives, but I think there’s an alternate universe where Leoshgon and Amaldyne date. It would HAVE to happen after her family dies and while Leo has the sword (aka when Amaldyne is enough of a control freak and Leo is at his most useful). But like. It definitely COULD.

I imagine it would be much like the Overseer’s relationship with Leo in terms of the dynamic, but the internal forces driving it would be different. The Overseer enjoys control and possession for its own sake. He likes that one of the most powerful forces currently at play belongs to him. Leoshgon is a tool and a possession, and a trophy, but the love goes beyond that. He’s a person who isn’t magically bound but chose to stay anyway, and the Overseer loves THAT most of all (I imagine some of that love fades after Leo loses the sword, which I think Leo would interpret as the Overseer seeing him as a tool, but is more the Overseer wanting a partner who chooses him). I think Amaldyne would lean less “posession” and mor “objectification.” Leoshgon would be, to her, an extension of herself and her values. Leo is in her corner. Leo is fighting her battles. For her cause. For HER. She loves that Leo never disagrees with her (or at least that he always sides with her in the end), that he’ll do anything for affection and validation. And even if parts of Leo want to be his own person (want to be a person) he loves having somewhere to belong and someone to love him, even if it means being a doormat for someone who’s love is very much conditional.

And I think that’s why, if Leo was in a relationship with Amaldyne instead of the Overseer when he gave up the godslayer sword, she would kill him for the betrayal when the Overseer would keep him for coming back at all.

Dancer 🤝 Helmet being low empathy despite literally having different flavors of mind reading

#rat rambles #eternal gales #Im like 75% sure Ive made this post bit shhhhgh #any old blog posts might as well not exist #anyways helmet has more general mind reading while dancer ironically has emotion reading #but they both still struggle to rly. connect with the emotions they detect #especially for helmet since their mind reading is near constantly active so it all just feels like white noise to them #dancer's is only rly active when hes particularly stressed out or just otherwise feeling strong emotions #because of how his body works it takes a lot less stress or excitement to activate his abilities than your average stalien #but yeah his emotions reading is smth hes very rarely benifited from since it just feels the same to him as like watching someone be #visibly upset #aka he doesnt rly connect with these forien emotions at all he can sometimes like name what they are but it doesnt rly click as real to him #during his crashes this tends to be one of the big things that hes ashamed of as he sees it as a personal faliure even tho its not #helmet's low empathy is also linked to trauma mostly from yknow. being surrounded by dying children for several years.#they struggle a lot with letting themself see the ppl around them as fellow living beings and even those they do care abt can sometimes #feel a lot more like concepts to them than people #dancer and helmet have a very. complicated relationship because of all of these factors #dancer actually hated helmet at first due to how quickly busy started liking them #but once helmet started giving him free stuff and just generally being nice to him he warmed up to them pretty quick #the two of them are pretty chill friends but after the initial ok cool guess I have a friend now 👍 period some quiet conflict arose a bit #mostly in the fact that the others abilities make both of them quite paranoid #dancer is trying to manage it but helmet is like 100% convinced that of dancer ever reads their emotions he'll learn that they secretly #are an uncaring husk (theyre not) and he'll think theyre a monster (he wont)#theyre both just so scared that the other secretly hates them and theyre both alergic to communication so its just them dying slowly #meanwhile busy is just sitting there going 'I can fix them' at the both of them (she cant but shes kind of helping at least)

Warnings: ANGSTTTTTT. An attempt at it at least lmao, let me know if I did a good job with it. A bit suggestive in the middle. Cursing. Mentions of cheating (mentions!!! No cheating in this house).

People often say that Sukuna would be obsessed with the reader/oc, but I think a relationship with him would be the hardest thing ever.

He doesn’t get the concept of being in love: at the start of your relationship he found out you were more tolerable than anyone else, he assumed that meant he liked being around you and went along with it. Of course he fell in love in the long run, but for him it’s embarrassing to admit it. He barely even said it when you asked him why he wanted you to move in with him.

It’s not like he isn’t obsessed with you: he’s obsessed with the way you just seem to get him, with the way you smile when he comes home from a long day at work, with the utmost kindness you treat people around you with and that he lacks completely. He’s mesmerised by you, by the curve of your hips, the brightness of your eyes, the softness of your hands on his body.

He doesn’t show it, though.

He’s used to being rough and redeems emotions as futile. Like he already said to you in a couple of your arguments, if you get him you get him, if not, he’s not explaining himself. Everything he does is thought of and automatically right, so why would he give you explanations?

But sometimes in relationships you need communication. He doesn’t see how intense it is to be next to someone who acts like he doesn’t care about what you want to share in your daily life. And again, he does care: if he could, he’d make a copy of you yapping and just listen to it on repeat while working. He loves how passionate you sound while talking about your hobbies, he finds the little tilt to your voice when you search for his approval adorable. He doesn’t see how difficult it is to be with him because he’s only been with you, and you’re so good at communicating and making him feel heard he doesn’t notice he’s not reciprocating your efforts.

And that means that he’s never the one who wants to resolve misunderstandings, because he thinks they don’t really exist. You were upset about your dish not coming out the way it was supposed to and instead of reassuring you it was still edible he straight up said it looked horrible and walked away? He’s not sorry. He spoke his mind, did he not? And why would you be sad about the truth?

You’re not weak, and you’re not shy either. Kind people are not necessarily stupid, and you’re living proof of that. He’d never be in a relationship with a weakling who doesn’t know how to raise her voice and stand her ground. You’re fierce in your own way, and you know how to manage his stubbornness 90% of the time. You don’t like being disrespected or ignored, and you made sure to talk his ear off whenever he did it. Not like he purposefully did it, anyway.

But as a person who understands emotions and feels emotions, sometimes being with him frustrates you. And it comes to a point where you debate on keeping being next to him or leaving him for good.

He’s not the only one who has hard days, but when both of you have one, the silence inside your house is deafening. You’re the one who usually starts up conversations, but your mind is occupied with other things. You’ve barely touched your food.

“What’s got your panties in a twist?” He scoffs at dinner. He doesn’t like you frowning, it wrecks his heart. It makes him want to destroy the face of whoever took the smile he lives for off your face.

You sigh. “You know how my parents said they were coming to visit us next month? Well-”

He’s silent. Fuck, when did she say this? He thinks. Probably one of those days where the thought of your thighs suffocating him all night plagued his mind last week. Fuck, he’d take a bite of them right now if you let him. Maybe he could suggest it. It could take his mind off of his own shitty day.

“Are you even listening to me?” You say sternly. He notices you kept on talking while his mind wandered, but he disregards it.

“Wanna fuck?” He asks instead.

You’re baffled. “Sukuna, what the fuck?”

“Damn, you could’ve just said no, brat,” he says rolling his eyes.

You get offended. “Don’t fucking ask me what’s wrong if you’re not going to listen to me.”

“Yeah yeah, you were probably going to talk about how worried you are and shit. I don’t care about that. If you don’t want to get my dick wet I’m going to rub one out,” he says waving his hand in front of your face and standing up from his chair.

You huff out a sarcastic laugh. “Are you serious?”

“Would you prefer me to find someone else to do it for me?” He bites, snapping his head toward you.

He sees you widening your eyes. If there’s a thing you don’t tolerate is cheating, or jokes about it. He knows it. He knows it, dammit. You’re fuming.

“You’re an asshole. Fuck you. I’m sleeping at Nobara’s,” you spit at him, grabbing the purse you left on the side of the table and rushing out the door, slamming it.

When he’s left alone in your shared living room, he keeps on looking at your front door. The silence is making his head hurt, the only thing he’s hearing is the sound of the door slamming. Did he overstep? Nah, you were probably overreacting. He shrugs and finally moves from his spot, going to put his dish in the sink. He leaves yours on the table, because maybe you’ll be hungry when you come home. You usually are after an argument. You’ll come back after a couple of hours saying you didn’t want to worry him too much, you’ll sigh saying this can’t keep on happening and that you’re tired of arguing, then he’ll hug you and everything will be alright. Just like it always is. You’ve never left like this, though.

He ruffles his hair; he’s angry at everything and everyone. You should’ve got that he’s the one overreacting, why didn’t you get him like usual? Why aren’t you still back after 3 hours? He hates feeling angry. He hates feeling tired. He hates feeling in general. Most importantly, he hates that the hands in his hair are his and not yours. He hates the way right now he’s craving your soft voice reassuring him in his ear, your sweet words covering him like a blanket; his head on your chest listening to your heartbeat while lying on your couch, reminding you that you’re there. You’ve always been there. There’s no one else for him, there’s never going to be one. He’d never cheat, you’re so stupid for getting angry about it. Why did you get so mad about it? Suddenly, he’s thinking about random stuff you said that he ingrained in his head.

But he’s prideful, that’s why you’re the one that’s always trying to resolve arguments. Yes, you’ll come back. He’s sure of it. You always came back during the 3 years you've been together.

A week passes by and he's going crazy. You haven't contacted him at all, and he didn't text first. He lies to himself saying it's because he's leaving you some space, but the truth is that he's scared. What is he even supposed to say? Hey, I'm sorry, I miss you, please come home? That's pathetic. He's taking a shower when suddenly his phone rings. His heart skips a beat and he rushes out to check if it's you. Please, let it be you.

Instead it's Yuji, his brother.

Yuji: Hey, what happened with y/n? She asked me to come get some of her things for her. Is she sick?

Sukuna frowns. Then he realizes that- you're going to move out. You're going to break up with him.

He goes into panic mode. He never thought about the possibility of you leaving him. He thought you would come back, like you always do. Why would you leave him? Is it because you finally realized that you're better off with someone who knows how to express their feelings for you? Did you get tired of him? Have you already found someone else?

He finds himself knocking on Nobara's door in the next ten minutes. He ran, he's sweating and it's starting to rain. He's out of breath, and he gets his hands on his knees while he waits for you to open the door. He's not ready to let you go. He can't even fathom a life where he doesn't wake up to you trying to get warm between his arms, without you nagging him while watching a film together, without helping you bake cookies while laughing with each other. Without not being able to talk from how in love he is while looking into your eyes. And he knows that if you leave him he's never going to be able to live in his own house ever again, or walk down the street you always do together, or go grocery shopping and not thinking about you while looking at vegetables. You always said you liked vegetables and he always lied about liking them just to see you excited about cooking them together.

"Yuji, I didn't think you'd be this fas- oh," you open the door and your face falls when you see it's Sukuna. He snaps his gaze toward your face when he hears your voice. He missed it so much. You're so beautiful. He missed all of you. So much.

Neither of you move, you just keep staring at each other. This time, he knows he's going to have to talk first. For the first time, he realizes how hard it actually is to confront someone first. Do you feel like this every time?

"Come home," he says. "Please," he adds.

You look sad. "I don't think I'm going to, Sukuna. It's been more than a week and you didn't even reach out to say... I don't even know what. I know you don't say sorry. You never do."

Your words feel like knives. From where you're standing you're taller than him, and he has to look up to look at you. It's like he's in front of the pearly gates of heaven and an angel is making him confess all the wrong things he did, except in this scenario you're the angel and the things he did are just what he thinks about all of this. About you in general.

And you're right, he doesn't usually say sorry. The words get stuck in his throat and he just gapes up at you, still catching his breath. Pathetic.

You sigh, then go to close the door. You don't look at him anymore and he feels like he can't breathe, and not because of the run.

"I'll come get my things next week. Go home, you'll get wet," you say. And your voice is clear, you're not mumbling, you must have thought about this. He sees how hard you're clenching your jaw to appear resolute, your nails hurting your palms from how hard you're closing your hands. But you still manage to worry about him, worry about him possibly catching a cold from the rain. And he loves you. Fuck, he loves you so much.

"Wait," he manages to say. You look at him with longing. With sorrow.

And he feels like he's crying to the angel in his afterlife when he opens his mouth again, thorns in his throat getting tighter, suffocating him. But he doesn't cry here, in front of you, even if maybe you'd like it. You'd probably say that you appreciate him showing emotions, maybe tease him for it, but you'd like it. He'd kiss you while you're still laughing, saying you're stupid, and you'd continue laughing.

"I love you," he rasps out. The words feel so unfamiliar to his tongue, but so familiar to his ears. You always tell him you love him. "I'm sorry for being a shithead. Please don't leave me. I promise you I'll get better at this communication shit," he begs.

You still don't move, but he sees you getting softer.

"Go home, Sukuna. We'll talk about it when it's not raining," you utter.

"No, I don't fucking want to," he snaps. You're startled, and he cringes. He's really not used to all of this. He doesn't like scaring you.

"Fuck, I meant to say I want to get over it right now. I didn't want to scare you. I want you back, Y/N. Please, have me back. I'll get better for real," he says while getting progressively closer to you.

"You promise?" You ask, now shorter than him. You're a step of distance from each other.

"I promise, baby. I'll make you the happiest girl to ever exist," he tells you, looking at you intensely.

"Start by saying you love me again," you mumble, wrapping your arms around his waist and resting your head on his chest. He engulfs you in his own arms, inhaling the smell of your shampoo, then snorts.

"Sure. I'm in love with you, brat."

Being in a relationship with Sukuna is hard, but he loves you easily.
