"It lived and hungered and ate anything in its path!! ANYTHING! THE EATER!" The cover of Kamandi No 18 was penciled by Jack Kirby and inked by D. Bruce Berry, with colors possibly by Jerry Serpe. Cover date is June, actually on sale March 12, 1974.
Giant worms were familiar to sci-fi fans by 1974, and many seem to be inspired the giant sand worms of Dune. The earliest published picture I know of D&D's purple worm was immediately prior to this comic, in the OD&D box set first released in January of the same year in very limited numbers, so this isn't one of the cases of early D&D borrowing designs from a comic or vice versa.

This scene is really funny and I am glad that they took bringing the Kamandi cast to the present as an excuse to make it. That is all.

If you follow Tom Fowler’s comics work or even just his social media, you know he has a tendency to draw some really wild-looking creatures at times (some of which you can find on T-shirts courtesy of his Threadless store). They are the kind of designs that would be perfect for a world created by Jack Kirby, so it’s no surprise that his concept art for a Kamandi series is simply awesome.

Batman: The Brave and the Bold animated series poster by series producer James Tucker and someone named Miller (probably not That guy).
This was one of the funniest and most enjoyable series I've watched. I loved how it combined the goofiness of the Silver Age (with more than its fair share of Bob Haney insanity) with heroes from the Bronze and Modern Ages, and it still worked perfectly!
It was a love letter to the DC Universe, and reminded me of the days when comics were FUN!
Plus, the show featured the absolute best version of Aquaman EVER! You will never convince me otherwise.
Plus + plus: Jimmy Olsen delivers the classic line "Superman is a d----!"

Sometimes, I think about the huge number of DC properties that will never see media adaptations beyond the Easter eggy variety (like the DC SHOWCASE animated shorts or guest appearances on something like BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD) due to corporate dysfunction — not the big-name superhero stuff, but things like:
KAMANDI, which could make a magnificent animated series.
ATOMIC KNIGHTS, which is less stupid than FALLOUT and has giant mutant Dalmatians the characters ride as steeds.
SILVERBLADE, a charming mid-80s "Maxi-Series" by Cary Bates and Gene Colan about a retired movie star who gains the supernatural power to transform himself into any character he's ever played.
STANLEY AND HIS MONSTER, a delightful kids' comic about a boy who adopts a huge red shaggy monster that his parents (who never actually see the monster) patiently assume is his imaginary friend.
CAMELOT 3000, a sci-fi spin on the Knights of the Round Table with King Arthur reincarnated in a high-tech 31st century world and transgender Sir Tristan.
Then I remind myself that at best, they'd just be reduced to the same hackish nerd show pablum as the various Arrowverse shows (probably by the same hacks), and that, as with STAR WARS and STAR TREK, an abundance of crap can very easily make something too infuriating to even bother hate-watching. So, maybe it's for the best.
