I just asked one of my friends who has read the pjo books if he’s watched the show yet, and he said no. When I asked him why, he said it was because he doesn’t really want to watch it if the characters aren’t accurate. And right after that he said, “I just need an adaptation where Annabeth is white and blonde”😧😧😧. I know many people think the same but why are you admitting that??? Like lower your voice bc are you not a little bit embarrassed at least?? And then he said “not like THAT you know, but just for her to look like she does in the books”. None of them look like they do in the books, so what else would it be if you only care about Annabeth’s casting. The way she looks isn’t even relevant to her story or the plot so why would you not watch a whole show just because she doesn’t look how she was described to look in the books?? Leah is PERFECT for the role and it’s honestly his loss. He’s the only person I know who has read the books so I was really rooting for him—actually, no I wasn’t I didn’t even think I had to root for him.

while we're on the topic of talking about changes the pjo show made that i love, im glad they didn't push the whole Annabeth saying she and Percy *have* to be enemies because athena and Poseidon have beef. Instead she's just this cryptid autistic strategist 12 yr old who stalks Percy and pushes him into the water. She's like "hmm this white boy will perfectly serve my purpose and schemes" and she's so real for that

Obsessed with how Annabeth isn't spacial, she isn't a chosen one, she has no demigod magic powers, she is for all intents and purposes, a fairly normal girl.

But she poured her blood, sweat and tears into becoming the best warrior she could be. She trained hard for years because she knew she had disadvantages and she didn't want to be seen as weak.

She's literally known in Camp and by monsters like Alecto as the most powerful demigod alive and she doesn't have powers. It's almost as of girls don't need to be magical to be a hero!

i wanna see fan art of older percy and annabeth with scars and grey steaks in their hair. they’re in college or full adults and living their best lives but during the summer they’re putting extra sunscreen on their old battle wounds and when percy grows out his hair or annabeth gets new braids they have a matching silver streak. i want to see them as happy adults buy still visibly carrying the weight of everything they went through as children. they deserve not to have those lost with age, its proof that they lived, that they made it.

Again they dangled Annabeth’s fatal flaw in front of her through Hephaestus saying that if she were to leave right then with the shield, she would win back her mother’s favor and be a hero, two things Annabeth has wanted more than anything in the world her whole life. And again she chooses to stick by her friend and protect him because if they don’t break the cycle, who will? If they continually sacrifice each other to get ahead, just as the gods have done with each other and demigods for centuries, what will be left but the destruction of the world?

But Percy isn’t that way. Annabeth has the chance to have everything she’s ever wanted but not the way she wants. She doesn’t want to be that way anymore. She’s breaking the cycle.

last episode 3 rant for now i almost promise but like.

looking back it's an obvious improvement that Annabeth sees Percy exploding the toilets and immediately clocks him as a son of Poseidon, and also that she takes one look at stone statues and "aunty em" and takes no time to put two and two together. Like this girl has been studying for this her whole life, she's probably gone around camp devouring stories from new arrivals to piece together how these myths and monsters manifest in the modern world.

Kid shows up with a minotaur horn, a stormy temper, and a bone to pick with the gods? That's her ticket out of here.

Wandering along a satyr path to an almost guaranteed monster lair littered with statues? That's Medusa.

Also love the juxtaposition of "wise beyond her years battle strategist" Annabeth and "child in a convenience store with no budget" Annabeth. She's intelligent and quick-witted but still a kid i the ways it matters.

Complaining about ugly 'afrolatino' Percy designs once again and this time i'm sayin' there's no such thing as 'The Percy Jackson look',not really.Percy wasn't given an overly specific physical description in the books and that's exactly why it's so easy and popular to picture him as an moc even unintentionally as it's not all that uncommon for kids of color who grew up on the books to have believed Percy was a poc too when reading and it's helped by having no in-text contradictions.Percy

Has black hair,sea green eyes and brown skin('a mediterrean complexion')

Looks like a younger Poseidon

And is so attractive he passes for a god according to someone who's actually seen one(Hazel's description of him in SON)

None of this stops him having dark and strong features and is more fitting than any other version of him as he has a hidden darkness in him and is the strongest demigod so it's a visual metaphor on top of representation.'Mediterrean complexion' is an umbrella term so darkskinned Percy works and sea green comes in multiple shades so his eyes can be a complimentary color instead of looking off.Hair texture and facial structure were never given so type d and his nose nor lips nor anything else on his face have to be delicate and NOTHING about him has to be light.As a lightskin half white black person,we are VERY overrepresented in contrast to monoracial and darkskin black people so to ME,biracial and especially lightfeatured Percy is bad and will only accept the former if the other heritage is a nonblack poc race as multiracial black characters are practically unheard of and get swept under the rug when we get them
