-Percy has a siren’s voice. When he sings or hums, the attention of anyone in the vicinity is drawn to him.

-Also, Percy is definitely a huge Queen fan

-Annabeth has a spray bottle of salt water

-Jason listens to classical music (he just looks like he would)

-Reyna is a fucking demon at pillow fights for some unexplained reason

-Thalia likes strawberry Mentos

-Also has a dart board up with a picture of Luke in the center (she consistently hits her mark)

-Leo sleeps in a fetal position

-Frank likes stormy weather and stratus clouds

I'm not immune to Odysseus raising Astyanax/Scamandrius

A mix of me joking to my partner about "what ifs" regarding this alternative and tumblr telepathically knowing to send posts my way regarding the same subject matter lead to this being made.

Athena's goodbye coming sooner than anticipated as well lmao.

The reason why I chose Zeus is because I imagined it takes place during "The Horse and The Infant", with Zeus listing all the reasons Odysseus should NOT take the baby,as Odysseus straps the lil one to himself,nonchalantly.

Rethinking the Apple of Discord

So here's the thing; you give the apple to Hera, that's the safest initial choice, but you hedge your bets first.

First you go to Athena. You tell her that you cannot choose her, but you believe that she will see the wisdom in your choice.

Then you go to Aphrodite. You tell her that you cannot choose her, but you dedicate your choice to her, and thank her.

Then you go to Hera. Get down on one knee. Tell her that she is the fairest, that her philandering ass of a husband is unworthy of her, and that if she will have you - if she will cast off the adulterer and have you instead - you will treat her with a devotion and passion that exceeds even what Dread Persephone has known.

And - here's the kicker - you have to MEAN it.

For Athena, this is a high-risk-high-reward tactical decision that has a chance of netting you a place as lover of the most powerful woman in the pantheon. For Aphrodite, it's a new ship to play with. And for Hera, seriously fuck Zeus he's a jackass, at the very least she'd have to admit you have a point.

So I recently started practicing paganism! I currently worship Hades, Persephone, Dionysus, Athena, and Hermes, and I wanted to tell y’all about their altars

Hermes’s is a work in progress, I’m still looking for stuff to put on it (I commissioned a custom deity candle from Darkly Divine Crystals for him & I’m just waiting for them to accept the request), but right now the altar has:

My Polaroid camera

A Newsies keychain

A turkey(?) feather I found in my yard

A pretty rock from the waterfront when I went with some friends

A couple coins from my backpack

A wax Voodoo doll my dad got on a business trip to Louisiana

And this one’s Athena’s! It has

A wooden puzzle game

My kindle

A blue rock that says “creativity” (it was from a shop downtown)

A different blue and gray rock

Two tiny plastic trophies

A flowerpot (her offering bowl) with a Good Omens pen and two feathers in it

A Kamala Harris magnet from the Female Power Project

My desk lamp, which was already there but I thought Athena would like it

A scented candle

Dionysus’ altar used to be on my radiator cover next to my Playbills, but it’s really wobbly and I got scared of things falling and /or breaking, so I moved it to my bookshelf next to my makeup. Currently it has:

Two amethyst crystals

One of my several pronoun pins

A pinecone

A purple candle

A crystal ball-shaped cup (his offering bowl) with a purple wildflower in it

A gold paper heart one of my friends made me

An old painting I made that coincidentally had some of Dionysus’ exact colors

A satyr statue I made during an art class

(He also really wanted this goat plushie and these red heart sunglasses but there was no room on the altar, they’re still his tho they’re just on my other bookshelf)

Hades and Persephone share an altar, partially because I only have so many places to put an altar, partially because they’re married and don’t seem to mind sharing! Since it’s a joint altar, it’s definitely the biggest one, and has:

Red Crowley-esque sunglasses I got for my last birthday

A skull and raven Halloween decoration

Another Halloween decoration, it’s like a little shelf thing with bottled fake(?) dried herbs

A candleholder from the thrift store (Hades really wanted it)

A bat plushie that my friend named Marcel the Mycelium Bat because it has mushrooms on it

A flowerpot (Persephone’s offering bowl) with a (now dead) flower that I’m gonna return to the earth for her and a crow feather

A spellbook Halloween decoration

A Hadestown magnet

A little red candle

A metal bowl from 1978 (Hades’ offering bowl) with some crystals, loose change, and a letter I wrote to him

A little stone snake

Again, I think that's a bit of an oversimplification of her character. Athena's role as the aider of heroes, her explicit associations with patriarchy and the myths involving her harming her female relationships one way or another (Pallas, Myrmex, Iodame, Medusa, Chariklo through her son Teiresias, etc.) are evidently facts, and very interesting themes to explore imo.

However, that characterisation is far from an absolute and there are several mythical examples of her favouring or coming to the aid of women (Elaia and Myrsine, Koronis and Nyktimene, Eurynome, Persephone, the Danaides, the Koronides and the Pandareides, etc.), so though I think the themes mentioned above shouldn't go unacknowledged, I wouldn't necessarily state them in rigid, universal terms.

Then again this woman is a professor of classics and a published scholar, and I'm a nobody picking lint out of their bellybutton, so... there's that. Still, I think my point isn’t unreasonable.

My Goodbye late thoughts

You know, Athena really sinks in my estimation during My Goodbye

Odysseus was totally right with all this "selfish and prideful and vain" as she literally abandons him after one disagreement and can't even for one minute relate to man's perspective and all

BUT

Hitting her with "You're alone"?

damn.

Brother, you will die in like 20, 30 years? For her, this friendship would last maybe like a month or sth. Every time she gets attached mortals, they die in the blink of an eye

And I don't really think that gods make good friends with all this "Ruthlessness is mercy" or smoking weed with their grandsons, cuz Athena really needed someone with the same goals as her (like our beloved Odysseus) and not just dudes around

She's alone cuz she is not AS bad as other gods and she has an actual mission to complete, yet she can only be understood by mortals who, well, die like flies from her immortal point of view.

Her sanity is paid for with her loneliness.

Quite tragic.

But all "my goodbye" was still a bitch move from her and I will always stand by our neither man nor mythical, our darkest moment, the infamous Odysseus side

It was pleasant and calming, however their peaceful mindset was shattered upon seeing a pink shape at the bottom of a tree. Grinning, their curiosity quickly overwrote their caution as they landed in a branch of the tree and looked down at Athena. “Well if it isn’t the mystery mew! I assume you still won’t share your story so I’ll ask a different question. Why rest out here? You look quiet frazzled so I wouldn’t expect the elements to help. Though why you are in this condition is yet another question.”

Athena snapped. Finally she had escaped from a doom party where she had to wear clothing and socialize- Only to find herself trapped by pestering Anew...

"Aren't you a charmer- Now if you don't mind- Buzz off! Sure the elements won't do me mcu favor, but peace and quiet can! The last thing I need right now is something else to add to my long adoring pile of stress! The last thing I need to see at all is YOU.."

Athena would try and rest her eyes- Hoping Anew soon go away.
