I’m thinking about Gwen and Elyan tonight folks….. they were siblings, finally reunited after years, reconciled, and obviously cared for one another very much and there were hardly any on-screen interactions between them save for episodes where either one of them was in danger of some kind. Sigh.

I also know for a fact their exchanges would’ve been hilarious because it seemed that Elyan was the one person that knew how to annoy Gwen at light-speed LOL

I'm so tired of people complaining about MM's portrayal of Thetis, like I generally don't like to post negativity because no. And I'm not the type to complain about "media literacy" because half of the people who complain about it don't even know what media literacy and critical thinking is, and the other half are just self important arseholes who believe that their only redeeming quality is that someone in high school told them that they were smart

MM wrote about how a woman that was forced to have a child she probably didn't even want, then come to love him, only to learn that she was going to lose him very soon anyway

She was panicking, so she tried to be controlling in hopes that she could achieve this one thing that maybe could prevent her child from dying

And she was so focused on protecting him, that she didn't realized that she was hurting him

In the end, she has to come to terms that in her way to protect this image she had of him in her head, she ended up hurting her real son and didn't even knew him

Thats why she asks Patroclus to tell her about Achilles in the end, to understand who was he beyond what she wanted him to be and comes to terms with the fact that she could've spend all that time being happy with him

kinda wild to me that one of the most compelling aspects of both Chuuya and Kunikida's characters to me, that I never really see talked about, is how they're heavily set on a doomed crash course towards complete and utter destruction, and how I am so, so worried for them both.....

I woke up with idea that I should take an experience I had as a baby, and fill in all the unknown parts to make a horror story. Because why not write a story where a Christmas tree turns into a monster and tries to eat a baby? Totally normal thoughts from a totally normal person.

However, in trying to write the scene where the tree transforms and attacks the baby, it has very clear that I don't really know how to write a suspenseful and creepy transformation. I've avoided horror most of my life because I'm a scaredy cat and can't handle much in the way of jump scares, body horror, or gore. (I know not all horror has those things, or has them in large amounts. But in the past that was mostly what I knew about.)

So I'm wondering if y'all have suggestions of horror stories or comics that do a good job building suspense and being creepy, without being super scary or gory. Because the only way I'm going to do a better job of writing horror is to read more of it, but I'm not sure where to start when I'm such a wimp. Like if it gets much gorier or scarier than Scarlet Hollow I probably won't be able to handle it.

I did read some Edgar Allan Poe back in my teens, and while I don't really remember much about "The Pit and the Pendulum", I do recall it creeping me the fuck out! But I don't remember enough to know how it compares to my current comfort level. (I used to be able to handle a lot more than I can now.)

sometimes i get really annoyed with cis comedians who make shitty trans jokes, not just because it's actively harmful, but also because all their jokes about trans people are exactly the same low-hanging-fruit-type of cheap, predictable jokes. it REALLY isn't that hard to make jokes and be humorous about the trans experience. i've seen TONS of jokes by other trans people (and made some myself) that capture the inherently humorous parts of the trans experience without actually being offensive or cruel to others. like these people make it clear they're not making trans jokes to find humor and joy in their lives, they're making trans "jokes" to further the stigmatization and abuse of trans people. but because they're doing so via comedy they try to escape accountability by couching it as "just a joke". like okay sure buddy, it's "just a joke" when you imply that trans people are deceitful liars trying to trick innocent unknowing cis people into sex, but the exact moment a black person makes a completely non-hostile joke about white people, you're crying and pissing and shitting yourself about it. "just a joke" shut the hell up and get real jokes.

AEW has so much potential but mostly awful execution, its saving grace is the immense amount of talent that people wanna see, and im not here just for cool looking fights, i want these stories only wrestling can tell, like a legit fan turning into his idols biggest nightmare, or a guy rejected by fans and company being made a villain, but through that turning into an anti-hero and finally rising above the ones that came before him, etc etc
