Spell Ingredients in Traditional Witchcraft
As one would imagine, some of this is now illegal, considered barbaric, or relegated to myth. But others remain. For example, blood magic has stayed.
Human or Animal Fluids and Body Parts
Your blood proves your devotion and serves as your signature. Your target’s blood allows you to manipulate them. Similarly, your saliva, when consumed by another person or an animal, gives you considerable power over them.
Animal entrails are consulted for divination. Their organs are often used in healing balms and all sorts of potions. In curses, the animal that represents a person can serve as a living poppet.
Fruits, Herbs and Other Foodstuff
Then and now, these are staple ingredients. Leaves and eggs are used for divination. Plants, tree barks, grass, crops, and fruits are used in healing ointments, sleeping draughts, teas that induce miscarriage, and worn and edible amulets.
Perhaps lesser known is the use of poisonous mushrooms, flowers and seeds. Simply by being cooked or brewed, they can kill a target from a distance – if fed to an animal, that distance can extend beyond continents.
Religious and National Relics
This list includes the more generic garments of saints, crowns of kings and queens, and armors of warriors, as well as the very specific Holy Grail, Blood of Christ and the True Cross (fragments of the wood from the cross Jesus supposedly died on).
These relics are believed to hold immense power that can be harnessed to heal untreatable illnesses, grab or maintain power, increase beauty and wisdom, raise the dead, and attain immortality. As can be expected, rituals that require them are rarely executed, as these items are rather unusual.
Objects Obtained During a Quest
A common wildflower taken from the top of a specific mountain… A normal fish taken from a particular river… Your typical holy water taken from a faraway cathedral… Ordinary items made extraordinary through the method by which they were obtained.
The logic behind it is that the spellcaster proved the strength of his or her intentions, by overcoming any challenge that came with securing them. Such ingredients are incredibly potent.

Thanks for replying to the feedback, and I liked the analogy of cookies to intuition, it's reasonable!
Also, you replied to someone's ask about career and said choose something which you can leave at work and come back home to practice your actual hobby! I loved it so much, and it made so much sense to me, like if I get tired of the thing I love most/2nd most, how I am gonna feel good with it then? It's sensible advice to be honest.
I saw one of your posts, where you asked about any rituals we do. I personally do the Grand Tableau Major Arcana one, by @servantofthefates, I did this for 2023 and for 2024 on 1st January only! I believe this year's will be more accurate, as I am better with understanding my cards and intuition. I want to do another Oracle spreads as well, one card for each month. I didn't have enough time on New Year, but it's still new year isn't it? I may do it in a few days.
Is there anything you do particularly? Pardon if you have already talked about it!

I have noticed that there is a rise of the hustle culture where people are encouraged to turn their hobbies into income. But they never mention that once you become financially dependent on your hobby, it's no longer hobby, it's work. You can't just do it when you want to, you have to do it every day to make it a successful career. Personally, I wouldn't want that. I love my hobbies being hobbies and my work being ordinary and dull but ending the very second my shift is over so I can unplug. I'm not saying people shouldn't pursue their passions when it comes to job and career but they should just consider and think about it rationally and with all possible info. 😊
I know the Grand Tableau technique, I even have one Lenormand deck (only one at this point) but I rarely get to actually do it. I must admit, I admire you for going full into this for your 2024 prediction. I think it's not important whether you do a reading on the January 1st or January 25th, it's still gonna be alright. 😁
I'm not very good with rituals myself, to be honest. I do have habits when it comes to tarot and oracle cards, I try to interview every new deck (sometimes I do a shortened version of the interview) but other than that I'm not big on rituals. I mostly go with the flow and when I feel a ritual is needed or will help me to focus better, I will do it. If it's not necessary at the moment, I won't delay anything by following an exact procedure. 😂 I should be more diligent but nobody's perfect. 🤭

Pulling a clarifying tarot card is an impulsive and desperate act.
Impulsive because you rush to get additional information, instead of simply taking a few moments to understand what you have already been given.
Desperate because instead of accepting that the truth is not what you wanted, you deny and bargain, hoping to somehow get the answer you expected.
Six times out of ten, your mind only needs a few seconds to comprehend the answer that was given. Consider a card’s alternative meanings. Relate it to the others that surround it.
Two times out of ten, you will need to consult an external source to get the clarity you need – but you will get it. Google can offer a lot of help. But owning a credible book is a great step.
The rest of the time, you will need to accept a harsh truth. And that takes more than just a few minutes. But with bravery and strength, you can certainly do it.
None of the time is a clarifier ever actually needed. Always stick to the spread you planned in the beginning. Anything else would be shameless cheating.

My tarot sources are much scarcer compared to astrology… most are about general interpretation and not specifically about something like professions... and that's why for this post in particular, a large part were my own analyses, BUT the ones that I had inspiration from were just the major arcana than were from this site (which is in Portuguese) and a post from @servantofthefates.

Okay so just yet not another PSA about this same tired point, but for the love of GOD don't trust tumblr as a resource. Not for magic, not for astrology, not for spirits, not for ANYTHING. So many of the posts on this site are written by beginners who don't know any better than you, or even by people who are absolutely just fabricating things as they come up. There are books written by people whose heads aren't in fact lodged all the way up their ass. And for God's sake when someone claims their family has the "true knowledge" of very widely published grimoires don't take it at their word that they're the fucking progenitors of it back in ye Pagan Tymes.
