Succulents Part 6--Hyacinthus and Scilla
Succulents are a wide variety of plants, spanning multiple orders. Some have succulent leaves while others have succulent stems. Cactuses are succulents, but not all succulents are cactuses. Defining what exactly makes a succulent is a little tricky. For example, cabbage leaves are considered by some to be succulent, but tulip and onion leaves apparently aren't.
All photos mine. Unedited.

Gorgeous flowers, sadly poisonous to eat. They just look so...well, succulent.

Weird question. Are the purple flowrrs these?
Tumblr media
Nope! They're this sort of waxy dark purple color, with thicker lines down the center
Okay after some googling apparently they're Siberian/Wood squill or Scilla siberica
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The ones that come up in my yard are identical to the second picture
100% an invasive species here, they're native to southwestern Russia, Hungary, and the Caucasus
but I'm not so sure it's a good thing I've been eating them as there's apparently probably very poisonous, whoopsie
