Home for the First Time
It was early when there was a knock at the door of Wayne Manor, Bruce was still in his nightgown because even though it was nearly noon he’d been out late. He stayed back while Alfred opened the door, curious to see who it was and hoping he hadn’t forgotten he was supposed to meet with press or something today. But no, it was two children, nearly identical besides the fact one had blue eyes and the other green.
“Hello,” The blue eyed one greeted with a bright, charming smile, he had one arm out slightly, subtly shielding the green eyed boy who was hanging back a little, a serious look on his face and a stubborn set to his jaw. “My name is Danyal Al Ghul and this is my brother Damien. Perhaps Bruce remembers an ill advised dalliance with our mother Talia roughly 11 years ago? We are the result, and she says it’s time we meet our father and learn what we can from him.”
“Of course we’ll submit to a DNA test to prove our lineage,” The green eyes one, Damien, put in. Danial didn’t look at the boy as he nodded along.
Behind Alfred Bruce choked on his coffee and started to cough. Alfred was unflappable as always and simply nodded once. “I see, why don’t you two come through into the sitting room? The paternity test shouldn’t take long using our equipment, we’ll just need a bit of your hair,” Alfred said as he stood back and usured the kids in. Bruce deciding now would be a good time to disappear and compose himself before he had to meet these unexpected children.
---------------
Danyal was nervous and excited as they sat in the drawing room, cradling mugs of tea neither of them had drunk. Damien was probably suspicious of an attempted poisoning, but Danyal was just nervous! Not that he showed it, his hands didn’t shake and an impassive little smile stayed on his face as he observed every inch of the room. That was the difference between him and Dami really, Damien had been raised the heir to the Demon Head, Danny to the Bat and Wayne industries. They had gone through the same physical training of course but they had different behaviours ingrained in them.
Damien had been taught to repress all emotion and not show it at all where as Danny had been taught how to mimic them. Hide his true emotion and show the appropriate ones. A ‘press smile’ as they say, to charm and manipulate and give just the right half answers that truly gave nothing away. He excelled in science and technology which would be perfect for running Wayne Enterprises, so it mattered less that his reading skills flagged behind Dami’s a bit, or that he had been the weaker combatant.
Had been, until he had been struck by lightening and then revived by Lazarus. It had been a disappointment, but thankfully not something he could have been faulted for, an act of god to punish their grandfather for his avoidance of death and because even the gods feared who they would become. He remembered the strike, the unimaginable pain of it, and the aftermath as he lay on the ground, his heart stuttering and thumping to hard, then not, then fluttering, then not, then nothing as he had passed out.
He did not remember being dropped in the pit, but he did remember waking up within it. It burned through his veins, seeping in to the hand that had been struck holding his weapon, racing up along the fractals of energy, collecting the currents that still had him twitching uncontrollably and curling together into a hard ball in his chest. A wash of cold spread over him from his new centre, soothing the burn of the acrid, acidic pit. It made drifting there… comfortable.
He knew it shouldn’t have been, he had seen multiple people break the surface, gasping and screaming and clawing their way to shore, but it wasn’t for him. Then again Ra’s bathed in the pool, so maybe this was alright? It made him wonder about the people who never surfaced again, did they choose to stay because this was how it felt to them too? Drifting listlessly in comfortable… What? What was this feeling. Danny had turned and dove deeper into the pit, seeking answers as he always did, even when it wasn’t wise.
He didn’t know how long he swam before he could see the edges, the pool narrowing closer and closer till he could barely make it through, and then he found an exit. It was small, a porthole into a void of stars and doors. It was unlike anything he’d seen and he realised immediately it was calling to him, that was why he had dove. It wanted him to enter, it called it was where he belonged, it terrified him. When something far to large drifted by his little vantage point he fled back towards the surface, the life he knew, and the broken family he still loved.
He was a bit surprised to find that Damien and mother were still there but grandfather had already left. That was fair really, Danny didn’t know how long he had been down there, but his brother and mother are still there. It seemed Damien was being allowed a rare moment of weakness, on his knees by the edge of the pond, staring blankly into the water with their mother crouching next to him, rubbing his back though Damien’s eyes were still dry. They were… grieving him.
He burst through the surface of the glowing pool, gasping for air he scrambled up onto the bank, coughing up the disgusting liquid clogging his lungs. His ears were ringing and his sight narrowing to a green blur, completely unaware of what was going on around him until two hands, one the size of his own, and one larger land on his body. The smaller set held back his hair while larger rubbed his back, slowly sound returned and he heard his mother’s soft cooing and Damien’s panicked breath.
He gasped for breath and looked up at the two of them, the green retreating from his vision as he blinked rapidly. “Damien? Mother?” He had gasped seeing the relief overtake both of their faces that Lazarus hadn’t stolen his mind.
It hadn’t, in fact he was just as sharp as ever and had found that since then no one could detect him when he wanted to remain unseen, no door could stop him or keep him out. He was what any assassin dreamed to be, but it had also come with new awareness since he had been overhearing things no one would usually let him hear. He had heard the conversations Grandfather had with mother going back and forth about which of them should go to their father, since it was always meant to be Danyal but now with his new abilities he was clearly chosen by Lazarus so maybe he should be the true heir.
Danny known Grandfather was manipulative for as long as he could remember, not like Damien, who still had faith in the league and their grandfather. Damien was smart, and talented, he was suspicious enough for both of their physical safety, but he had a much harder time realizing when they were being manipulated, or when they were being used. That was alright, Danny could make up for this weakness as Damien had done for his unwillingness to kill. It had taken him a while of carefully planted seeds in both Grandfather’s ear and Mother’s to bring them around to the idea of both of them going to father.
Danyal didn’t know if father would be any better, but he would probably be easier to escape from then the league and maybe with some distance he would gain the courage to point out to Damien how it was wrong.
That was how life found them both sitting on their fathers couch, Danny’s tea long since having grown cold. He surfaced from his thoughts, seeing his eyes shimmering unnatural green in the reflection within the cup, as it usually did when he thought about his death.
He blinked it away in time to look up and see Bruce entering the room, he put his smile back on and stood, Damien following suit and looking sullen. They had agreed Danny would take the lead, but Damien still didn’t like it. “You must be Bruce, it’s a pleasure to meet you,” Danyal said offering his hand to shake. Bruce blinked looking a little startled and shook his hand, Danny did his bast to give a good, firm handshake, hopefully his hands were too cold. “Mother always speaks highly of you, and even Grandfather admits there’s much we can learn from you,” He said, stepping back to let Damien shake Bruce’s hand as well.
“And anyone who can impress grandfather must be half a god,” Danny joked causing Damien to hiss and elbow his side as he usually did when he though Danny was speaking out of turn. Danny made a little oof sound and then gave Bruce a conspiratorial look, pleased to see he had made the stoic man crack a smile.
“It’s good to meet both of you as well, I’m sorry I didn’t know about either of you until today. The paternity test confirmed that you are my sons, Alfred is already setting up rooms for you next to each other in the family wing. In the mean time how would you feel about meeting a couple of your siblings? I believe Tim, Cass, and Stephanie are home at the moment? You’ve had a long trip, if you’d rather wait till tomorrow then I understand.”
“We’d love to meet them,” Danyal said, a little louder then usual to cover his brothers scoff. Damien scowled at Danyal who scowled back just as fiercely and tried to step on Damien’s foot, he knew the other boy would move out of the way before he could but it would make his point not to be disrespectful! It was clearer then clear that their father didn’t care much for blood given how much he loved all his adoptive children no matter what Grandfather thought. If Bruce wanted a biological heir he could have easily have gotten one, their blood might give them a slight advantage but they would have to prove their merits. But of course Damien believed everything Grandfather said still.
Damien dodged and then kicked back, Danyal rolling his eyes and dodging as well. Before a full fight could break out they both heard Bruce chuckle at them, Danyal gave the man a sheepish smile and while Damien blushed and looked down at the floor sulkily. “Alright, well then follow me. I’ll call Dick as well, I’m sure that when he finds out he has two new brothers to meet he’ll come running, I’m sure he’ll be here for dinner as well.”
“We’ve heard a lot about him too,” Danyal said with an impassive smile, they had to know about those who might be their competition after all. Danyal knew a bit more then Damien but they both knew what they needed to, like strengths and weaknesses. Danyal wondered if he was going to have to come to their adopted siblings defences, he fully expected Damien would try to assassinate them, whether or not it was actually wise to do so.
“Alright, then lets go see Tim first, he’s playing video games in his room. Steph and Cass are in the studio together,” Bruce said as he ushered Danny and Damien out of the sitting room and up a set of back stairs into the family wing of the manner. Danny and Damien following, having a silent argument of signs and dodgable blows about how exactly they should be handling this. What finally ended the argument was Danny flashing fang, his eyes glowing green and baring his teeth at Damien. Both to remind Damien of his true strength and to show how important this was to him, which made Damien relent for now he wasn’t sure.
Either way they had sorted it out by the time Bruce opened the door. “Tim, how do you feel about two new brothers?” Bruce said almost sheepishly and Tim groaned, pausing his game and spinning around in his chair.
“Damn Bruce where did you find these two?” He asked giving his adopted father a tired glare.
“On his doorstep,” Danny said promptly.
“We’re his biological sons,” Damien said at almost the same time, then glared at Danny who shrugged, both were true.
“Damn really?” Tim asked as he finally got up, examining both of them.
“We already did the paternity test,” Damien said with what Danny would call an unwarranted amount of pride.
“It’s nice to meet you, I’m Danyal. You can call me Danny if you want,” Danny said, stepping forward and offering Tim a handshake and his best smile. Tim blinked and shook his hand. “I’ve never played a video game, they didn’t allow such frivolities in the compound. They look like fun though, perhaps you could teach me?”
“Uh sure, sounds fun. What about you? You want to learn other little bro?” Tim asked looking to Damien.
“Why would I want to learn a skill with no practical use,” Damien scoffed. “My name is Damien, and I do not approve of nicknames,” He said, giving Danny a haughty look as he shook Tim’s hand. Danny just rolled his eyes.
“Whatever you say little D,” Tim scoffed. Damien gave an indignant squawk and before he could go for a weapon Danny grabbed him by the collar of his shirt and yanked him back.
“Okay that’s enough of that,” Bruce said, grabbing a knife Danny had missed Damien drawing and twisting it out of Damien’s grip as Danny got his brother in a headlock.
“Sorry about him, the League of Shadows doesn’t care much for social graces, I barely escaped being just as feral as him,” Danny joked before letting out an oof as Damien elbowed him in the side and escaped his hold.
“Eh it’s not the first time a brother has tried to kill me. I can look after myself,” Tim said, which was clearly a warning to Damien judging by the look. Danny knew that Tim could, but also knew he was still underestimating them, and he hoped that wouldn’t bite him before he figured it out. “Let me know if you change your mind, I’m sure you two have a lot of catching up to do with tech and media, I’ll be happy to be your guide.”
“Tt,” Damien scoffed and stomped out of the room.
“Well I’m looking forward to learning about all of that, I think it’ll be fun! Ignore him, he’ll come around. Just, uhh, watch him, That won’t be the last time he tries to stab you. If anything it’s a bonding activity for him,” Danny joked as lightly as he could before hurrying after his twin, Bruce on his heels.

Chapter Twelve
Masterlist
When Jason arrived at Wayne Manor, the last place he’d thought to check, he knew that Danny was there. An invisible hand was wrapped around the source of the odd feelings and instincts in his chest, and it was gently tugging him towards the backyard. He followed it with a single minded focus, not even noticing when he gained a trail of the sibling still at the Manor. The question still burned within the orb that was wrapped in the hand, making it hard to focus on anything else.
The burning never seemed to ease or stop, at least it hadn’t for the hour or two it had taken him to find Danny. Every step felt like it took an eternity as it was weighed down with a weight so heavy he couldn’t find a comparison for it. Every breath was like one taken by someone on the brink of dying of thirst while in a desert, hot and raspy. He would have been worried that all of this was some odd sensation added to his usual fits with the Pit, but he could hear the Pit screaming at him to run away, trying to pull him away from the cold hand guiding his fire to the one person who could help.
The spiral of conflicting instincts fell quiet as he saw the scene he’d walked in on. Talia stood guard several feet away from where Danny, Nellie, and Damian were all curled up around one another. It brought an intense wave of belonging-happy-love-pride-mine-mine-mine crashing over him from that burning orb in his chest. It brought him up short and stole his breath in one smooth movement.
Jason stared at the scene before him, a boulder sinking through his stomach at the thought that he’d have to interrupt this even as a slicing wind seemed to demand that he join the cuddle pile. He took a step forward and Talia’s eyes snapped to his, carrying with them a knowledge-filled look that also seemed to be giving him permission. Like that was all he was waiting for, he stepped closer, stopping at some invisible barrier that he knew would be the point-of-no-return.
With a deep, fortifying breath, he stepped over the line, watching as Danny’s eyes snapped open and to his. Confusion was like a fog in front of them until it was washed away in understanding and a little bit of fear. Not a word was spoken, but the wind sang between them of the fact that nothing would ever be the same again. By the time he managed to tear his eyes from the magnetic pull of Danny's, the two others in the pile were awake and watching him with buried hope in their lives.
“You have a question.” Danny’s voice was soft and as quiet as ever yet there was something hard in it, like an ice that would never melt. It was clearly, to Jason at least, intended as a question that had failed to lift itself enough at the end.
A soft smile graced Jason’s lips, a smile that had been there since he saw the cuddle puddle earlier, and it didn’t fade as he said, “I do.”
Silence sat over the group for a few long minutes before Damian piped up with a sharp, “Are you going to ask it?”
The question was sharp, but Jason couldn’t shake the thought that it was only so sharp because of impatience. The sharpness was different from the usual brutal edge to Damian’s snark, it was more of a normal axe swing instead of the usual of an executioner's axe. Jason went to ask his own question when there was a flaring of fire from the orb.
“I- I don’t-” Jason broke off with a jagged sigh as he raked his hand through his hair. This should not be this hard.
Danny tilted his head. “You aren’t ready. Rest first. Question later.” That seemed to be all the talking energy Danny had for the day as he immediately laid back down, prompting Damian and Nellie to snuggle up once again, not that they’d drifted very far from each other in the first place.
“What just happened?” Tim’s voice was tense, like he was still waiting for something else to happen. Jason looked over at him to see that it wasn’t just Tim’s voice that was tense.
“Danny just told Jason to cool off before asking his question. There have already been too many big revelations for you all. You all need to process before we move on to the next big thing. You don’t have to be so tense, Tim, no one is going to blow up at each other.” Talia’s voice was cool, even, and oddly disappointed. Jason didn’t know what to think about it.
He took a deep breath, chest expanding and fire dimming slightly. “Okay. Process. Right.” His brain was a mass of mush in his head. The world around him was dimmer and brighter than it should have been, telling him that he was far too out of it to ask the question he needed to ask. “I can do that.” He would do that because he would have to. Things would be okay.
~`~`~
Things were not okay. It had been several months since the conversation in the garden that fall day, and he wasn’t quite sure that he’d processed everything. The burning in his chest was a near constant these days, growing and waning like it had a mind of its own. He’d started to hack up the dark green stuff from that one day in the Cave somewhat frequently. That was a double edged sword, good because it gave him more of his mind back, but bad because it gave him more clarity on the awful things he’d done.
There were some things he didn’t regret, but there were also a lot that he did. He’d felt bad about what he did to Tim before, but now it was like he’d never known what guilt felt like before. Jason’d started talking to Harley about all the crazy shit in his head, and she’d been a big help, even though he couldn’t tell her everything.
The worst part was the dreams. While before his dreams had been filled with what he’d done wrong or how others had failed him, now it was like those few odd dreams were all he could have. He could never remember all of it, but he had flashes, flashes that kept getting longer and more intense. They always started out with a feeling of intense comfort-belonging-hope-love, but they rarely stayed that way, causing him to try to avoid sleep until Harley had bashed him over the head, both literally and figuratively, to get him to realize what he was doing wrong.
Beside all the crazy stuff happening, he and the other Bats had settled into a good rhythm with each other, becoming more and more like the family they all had always claimed to be, like the family he was finally admitting they could be. He’d even settled into a good pattern of days with the Nightingales. They traded who would make dinner or breakfast, telling stories about their lives to each other. Jason got to see more of the days when Danny couldn’t speak, realizing that he must have been really close to them in the past because of how well he could understand them even when speaking wasn’t an option.
The weird flashes of another person like the one he’d gotten when they were leaving the League of Assassins kept cropping up at weird times that didn’t make sense. The long black hair that he was used to sometimes appeared to be white and braided instead of in a ponytail or loose. The red duck earrings changed to snowflakes obscured by an odd mist, kinda like the kind that surrounds dry ice. Blue eyes were covered by black and white goggles or a blue veil with green snowflakes. He didn’t even want to get into the hero suit or fancy clothes that suddenly would swap in.
The whole Bat Family had learned that Danny hated Christmas, or, more accurately, he hated being forced to celebrate Christmas. He’d given them all gifts, amazing ones, but it was not in any way because of Christmas. It was apparently some trauma left over from his awful parents, and Jason respected that completely. He himself never really got into the Christmas spirit because of how many rogues decided to do Christmas themed heists and/or just had issues with the holiday itself.
Danny had continued to not give the Joker any satisfaction through making sure they didn’t show any emotion around him. This had the interesting effect of the longest stay the Joker had ever had in Arkham because he didn’t want to leave before making Danny react to him. Jason joined Ellie and Damian in providing comfort on days like that.
One interesting thing to happen over the months was when Danny introduced them all to Khuzbu, which was the human way of saying whatever its name was in Existence Speak. Khuzbu was a spherical treat with a hard outside, many different options for the inside, and a truly insane amount of flavor options. Dick had tried to joke by asking for the feeling of flying freely through the air only for Danny to deliver exactly that. The way Danny flavored the little spheres was by tossing it up and then catching it in a specific pattern, which was odd and kind of impossible until one considered that these were magic treats.
Jason would say that he’d had a lot of fun between the chaos of these months, if only the burning and howling wind-fire in his chest would have left him alone. It was hard to focus enough to even get out of bed some days, so he would lay there, paralyzed by snippets of memories and emotions that ebbed and flowed as if pulled by the invisible force of some moon. Those days were the ones where he would lose track of time only to come back to being taken care of by one of his siblings.
The ups and downs were fine, just intense. The summer heat only seemed to make everything worse for Jason, but he managed to find ways to keep steady despite everything that was happening. There were some days when he felt lava flowing through his veins, others when he felt like a windstorm screamed through him, and still others when he felt calm.
Today was a day in July, getting kind of close to Tim’s birthday, and the whole gang was gathered together in the backyard of the Manor. He felt as calm as he could considering all the other factors, but he also felt oddly restless, like something big was about to happen or something massive was about to change. He felt oddly calm, now that he thought about it.
“Did I have a Lair?” The question finally burst from his lips, suddenly everything was silent, from the elements inside him to the people around him.
“Yes.” The simple word carried so much weight as it fell from Danny’s lips.
“Will you please take me there?” He didn’t fully know where that question came from, that was an absolute lie because he knew it came from the orb in his chest, but he was glad that it was out in the open. It just felt right in a way that he wasn’t sure it was possible to define with human words.
“Sure.” While the other word had carried a massive amount of weight, this one sounded like the wind was snatching it away, like it was being forced from lips that didn’t want to form the word, like it was a form of damnation to speak the word aloud.
Jason felt a sense of comfort and peace wash over him at the idea of going somewhere that he felt so connected to without even knowing if he’d seen it this life. He was going to a place that felt closer to home than he’d been in a long time. It was a feeling that somehow washed away some of the guilt that he felt over some of his actions in the past. The restless feeling also settled down some, like the massive thing was already set in motion.
He was so far in his thoughts that he didn’t notice the discussion going on around him, nor the fact that there was a betting pool and that several of his siblings were going to come along. He didn’t notice the strange looks he was getting from Talia, Damian, and Nellie, looks that were an odd mix of finally watching someone do something you’ve been waiting on and wondering what took so long. He was only drawn from his thoughts by Danny bumping shoulders with him.
“When?” Danny’s voice was quiet and soft, like always, but it felt somehow more there, more intense.
“Soon.” He offered a smile to cover his nerves as he answered the soft question.
“Tomorrow?” Danny offered a half smile of his own even as an indecipherable mix of emotions swirled in his eyes.
“Okay.” Jason could hardly wait.

Red Letter Charlatan
(Red Huntress X Danny Fenton!)
Word Count: 464
Warnings: Dannys a liar
Tumblr media
Nathan was starting to get on his nerves.
Did the ginger just have a Valerie sixth sense?
Danny was stuck doing a group with the sinister seven known’ as Dash, Kwan Nathan, and Rodney. Though Rodney was ‘‘okay, the other three made an entire person with how horrible they were.
They were supposed to be going to the museum two streets down from the school, but Dash had the wise idea to just skip which Danny was all for. Hence here they were sneaking into a junkyard and listening to Nathan ramble about his “Red Huntress,” obsession.
Danny almost tripped on a price of glass, which just reminded him they were in a junkyard “Remind me. Why'd you pick here of all places? I'd rather waste my money at a movie”
“Shut It Fenturd and You To Creep Carrot HA- That was a good one wasn't it” Dash elated ‘which Kwan and reluctantly Rodeny agreed- “ Anyways were going to find out the Red Huntress's identity, I read somewhere that she stays in a junkyard lair!”
“ SHE- she has a lot of equipment, why would she be here? Those two things don't add up Dash?”
Danny wasn't nervous about them finding out Valerie's identity since he has been so easy to find out, and people remain clueless. When it came to her secret identity, her suit at least hid some of her face. It was more because he wanted them to ‘Shut up about’ Valerie.
“ Hey after we confirm if it's here or not we can go back to school, so it should be fine, The Red Huntress only attacks ghost anyways” Rodeny finally chimed in with a pack of peanut butter crackers in his hand. Danny Groaned
“That's the problem”
“ What did you say?” Creep Carrot finally paused his long listless rant about Red Huntress.
“Nothing Na-Than.”
“WELL, HOW WOULD YOU KNOW? Fent-shit Huh- are you like Creep O? Are you obsessed with her Huh?” Dash pitched finally crying, upset there was nothing here.
Rodney pat Danny's shoulder and prepared to drop him if he agreed to be like Nathan in any way.
“YOU LIKE RED HUNTRESS TOO?!”
“SHUT UP NATHAN!”
Danny sighed, why was Dash so damn annoying today’ he's giving Nathan a run for his money. Actually- he takes that back.
“No, I'm not!- it's just,” Between Nathans's intense babbling, Rodney's worried looks; Dash and somewhat Kwan's hashing Danny couldn't coherently think.
“It's because-
Because
Because we're dating!?”
The group paused including Danny. A quaint cricket could be heard.
“YOU'RE JOKING??” Even Rodeny who seemed the most nonchalant of the group stressed.

Star investigates Danny’s glowing freckles.
-----
Star could barely contain her giggles the rest of the day. Every time she heard a student in the hall whispering Fenton's name, she had to fight back a snort. Her rumor about his practice kissing technique must have reached the entire student body by now.
After the last class of the day, Star said bye to the rest of the A-List and headed toward the tutoring room.
And then a familiar voice called out to her.
"Star!"
Star turned and pressed her lips to fight back another giggle. Fenton was power walking down the hall through a throng of students who all stopped and stared at him. And he looked pissed.
"How's it going?" she asked cheerfully as he approached.
Fenton scowled at her. "We need to talk."
"Oh, my. Whatever about, Fenton?" Star batted her eyes. "I just couldn't possibly imagine."
Fenton's scowl deepened. "Just—come on."
Fenton turned on his heel in a huff and started walking away. Star practically skipped after him, following him down another hall and then another where there were no students at all. He finally stopped and turned back to her. Star held her backpack straps and tilted her head, smiling brightly.
"What's on your mind, buddy?" asked Star.
"Well." Fenton lifted his hands in a shrug. "There's this rumor going around the school that I practice making out with dolls."
"And, and." Star grinned, holding up a finger. "Pillows."
Fenton smirked, chuckling mirthlessly. "Yeah, I don't do that."
"Then why do you have all those dolls and pillows in your room with pictures of girls at this school taped onto them, hmm?" asked Star, sticking out her bottom lip.
"I don't," said Fenton, his smirk dropping. "Why would you tell people I do?"
"Well." Star twirled a strand of her hair. "I was sitting with the A-List at lunch and Paulina asked me if you were a good kisser. And I said we hadn't kissed yet because you wanted to practice a little more. And then they all wanted to know how you practice and I told them that you practice with dolls and pillows."
"That's how it went down, huh?" said Fenton.
Star smiled and bobbed her head in a nod.
"Okay," said Fenton. "Well, you need to tell everyone that you made it up and it's not true."
"I do?" asked Star. "Really?"
"Yeah. Really."
Fenton's eyes hardened into a glare. Star scrunched up her mouth and pretended to think.
"Hmm. Tell you what," said Star. "I'll tell them I made it up if you tell them your freckles really do glow."
Fenton stared at her a moment before chuckling sardonically. "Oh, I see. That's the game you wanna play here."
"Mmm hmm, it really is," said Star, her tone sweet. "So what's your next move gonna be?"
Fenton scoffed. "I could just spread a lie about you, too."
"Oh, yeah, you could," said Star. "But I know you won't."
"How do you figure?"
"Because you're too nice, Fenton."
Fenton held up a finger and opened his mouth, but no words came out. He slowly closed it and looked away in defeat.
"Sucks, doesn't it?" said Star with mock sympathy. "Nice guys really do finish last."
"You know, this is really low," said Fenton. "Even for you."
"Even for me?" Star gasped and pressed a hand to her chest. "That hurts, Fenton. That cuts deep."
Fenton sighed and shook his head. "Why are the prettiest girls always the meanest?"
"Aw, you think I'm pretty, Fenton?" Star puckered her lips.
Fenton narrowed his eyes at her. "You know you're pretty."
"Hmm." Star shrugged and swept her hair over her shoulder. "Yeah, I do."
"I just don't get it," said Fenton. "You're telling everyone that we haven't kissed yet because you're waiting on me to practice more? I mean, whatever happened to not wanting anyone to think we're dating at all?"
"They already think it," said Star. "I just decided to use it to my advantage instead of fighting it."
"Of course you did," muttered Fenton.
"But all of this can go away if you just help me prove to everyone that your freckles glow."
Star clasped her hands behind her back and smiled at him. Fenton folded his arms and stared her down.
"No," he said.
"Yes," said Star, her smile dropping. "Let me get you talking about planets or astronauts in front of the A-List so they can see for themselves that you're a freak and I'm not crazy."
"You know, it's not just talking about astronomy that makes them glow," said Fenton. "It just happens anytime I think about or see something that gets me really excited."
Star raised a brow. "Really?"
Fenton groaned. "Why am I telling you this? I shouldn't be telling you this."
Star checked the time on her phone. "Look, I need to get to tutoring, but if you change your mind, let me know." She looked up at Fenton again. "Oh, and if Paulina asks, just tell her you're definitely not using that picture of her from the marathon she ran last semester to practice kissing, okay? She apparently hates that picture."
"So you're really just going to do this to me?" asked Fenton. "Like, really? You're just going to lie about me like this?"
"Yeah." Star glanced up at the ceiling before nodding definitively. "Yeah, I think I am."
Fenton glared at her, then started marching away a few steps before stopping and turning back.
"And by the way," he said, his index finger pointed at her, "I am a great kisser."
Star scoffed and folded her arms. "Who told you that? Your mom?"
"No," said Fenton, sounding both defensive and haughty. "I've made out with like half the girls at this school, you know."
Star snorted. "Oh, my gosh. Are you talking about when you judged that beauty pageant?"
"So what if I am?"
"Those girls were just desperate to win, Fenton. I mean, even I gave you a back rub."
"You should've tried kissing me instead. You really missed out."
"Yeah, right. Those girls would tell you anything to get your vote. I don't for a second believe you know a thing about kissing."
"Well, now you'll never know for sure." Fenton gestured between the two of them. "Because anything that might've happened between us, it's now off the table."
"It was never on the table."
"Well, now it's even more not on the table."
"Fine by me, space boy."
They stared each other down, Fenton's face turning pink while Star felt heat traveling up her neck as she noticed that his lips actually did have a nice shape to them.
And for a moment, she wondered just what would it be like to kiss him?
She cleared her throat and shook her head. "Let me know if you change your mind about showing everyone your freckles glow."
"I'm not going to change my mind," said Fenton.
"Then I guess we'll just see what happens next, won't we?"
Fenton scowled before turning and actually walking away this time. Star smirked and started walking in the opposite direction toward the tutoring room.

Dannymay Day 6 - Space
Enough Space
Space was something the Fenton kids we're accustomed to growing up. Their parents spent a majoroty of their time in the lab, or away somewhere giving seminars, or filling out paperwork for property damages. Danny and Jazz had that silent agreement most teen siblings had-- You respect ny four walls and I'll respect yours. Except for when they didn't, of course. Jazz loved to invade Danny's space when he least wanted. But maybe it was those times when that agreement was meant to be broken. When Danny needed help. When Danny needed someone to talk to, even if the words never came. It was those knocks against the door followed by the timid peak inside that would snap Danny back out of all those horrible images that always wormed their way back into his mind. Jazz's "hey baby bro!" and "just checking on you!" Saved his sanity some nights. A simple gesture on her part but one that brought him back to the present. Probably more than he'd like to admit. As much as he loved and needed his personal space, his sister seem to always know just the right moment to butt in.
Just a little blurb for today! I skipped yesterday but fingers crossed I'll come back to it!

Area 51
Inspired by this lovely post
Danny spun around, surveying the crowd. It wasn't exactly 400,000 people, but quite a few people turned up at Area 51 for the raid. Sam and Tucker stood behind him, grinning ear to ear. They had to skip school to make it down to New Mexico in time, but this was worth it.
Sam lowered her picket sign (which aggressively stated 'Aliens are people too!') and pulled out her phone. "We need to at least get a selfie before this all goes down."
The crowd was still prepping. They were going to storm the facility any moment now.
"Oh, totally," Tucker agreed. He held up his weapon — three Nerf guns strapped together with duct tape — and grinned. Danny hovered beside Sam, throwing up a rock-hand symbol. Sam was about to take the picture but Tucker elbowed her, "At least get my shirt in the frame!"
Sam groaned, adjusting her phone so that Tucker’s 'Shoot it You're GAY' shirt was in the picture. She took the selfie. "Happy?" she retorted.
"Absolutely swell," Tucker responded. "Now let's kick some government ass."
"You sure you guys will be alright on your own?" Danny asked. It wasn't ideal, but he was flying ahead of the crowd. Getting a jump on the guys in Area 51 — if no one else could, he could release all the aliens. After all, he could fly through solid walls. He wasn't not going to use that to his advantage in such an opportune mission.
"We're chill," Sam assured. "Besides, if it gets bad we have the Fenton lipstick blasters."
The crowd started to clamor. Someone, somewhere, was counting down. They were all about to storm the facility... "Alright," Danny nodded.
"—two, one! Naruto run, WEEBS!"
Danny activated intabgibility and shot forward like a rocket (rocket, heh, good pun), phasing through the crowd. He surpassed the front of the crowd but continued flying, searching for the entrance. And there, were a line of guards positioned — snipers. Danny smirked, they were only human guards... he could take them.
Already, this mission seemed like a piece of cake.
