funny how celebrities will raise $26M for a fashion institute but can't be bothered to mobilise even a fraction of that energy and money to help the people being tortured and killed in an unapologetic genocide as we speak. love that for society. what a moment for The Culture.

People have been upset about my previous post where I took the top tweets (at the time) of people drawing parallels between the met gala and the hunger games. I just thought it was interesting to read so I screenshot the top posts on this discourse and posted it. Most of it used pictures of Zendaya. I don’t care about celebrity worship culture and don’t care to defend anyone who stays silent on genocide. Allow me to address why I didn’t criticise Taylor Swift for being at the Met Gala.
Firstly, she was not there.
Secondly, anyone who has been following me for a while knows that I’m always voicing criticisms of Taylor Swift. It’s to the point where I get regular Swiftie hate-mail.
Thirdly, these are not my tweets. They were just the top tweets on this discourse at the time.
It doesn’t mean that I don’t agree with everyone who says that all of the millionaires/billionaires should be held accountable for staying silent on genocide. And it is a problem that most of the online discourse about the problematic nature of the Met Gala feature photos of Zendaya. I definitely agree that more people should post about the Kardashians and Anna Wintour and all the other Zionist assholes who attend the Met Gala.
I would also urge people to not turn this into a debate of which celebrity deserves the most hate at the Met Gala. It distracts from the main point. All of them are complicit. Please don’t waste your breath on defending celebrities.

At the airport and my luggage is 3.5kg over the limit.
The airline staff wanted to charge me $75 but I brought tape with me and decided to tape all the heavy stuff to my body and cover myself with as many layers of clothes as I can.
I look ridiculous and am drowning in sweat…but it worked 😎

thanK you aIMee literally spelling out KIM in the title and then her being like “there will be no clues or trace of this song being about you 😉😉😉” like I was staring at the title when she got to that part and absolutely BURST out laughing and I’m still not over it, she’s the funniest human being alive

in hindsight, it makes a lot of sense that macklemore would happily release a free palestine song that is AS balls-out anticapitalist and antiimperialist as it is, considering in 2011 he won a grammy with a song all about being poor and spending your money wisely while still being cool and looking fresh, bemoaning blind consumption.
it was a small domino to start with, sure, but the trail is there.

hi! i just wanted to let you know i was totally not criticizing you for the met gala post!! i've only seen zendaya called out, when i don't think anyone who went has spoken out on the genocide. i meant my comment to be about the people making those tweets, not you for compiling them! it just left a bad taste in my mouth to see on here, on instagram, and twitter, everyone focusing on a single woman of color, when there's plenty of shame to go around. no hard feelings i hope!
Hey bestie, I’m sorry I misunderstood your comment. I have a lot of love for you and your blog and completely understand where you’re coming from.
Those were just the top tweets but you’re right that the focus should be on everyone who ignores genocide instead of just one person.
Ily 💜

For those asking, I went and found some non-Zendaya dystopian parallel tweets.

(on a lighter topic) Forever shocked Taylor didn't release a special celebration for Midnights getting a AOTY Grammy and releasing it with a definitive version to celebrate but alas now we're in TTPD era and we probably won't get The Anthology on a Disk/Vynil either. Taylor's so greedy money wise sometimes, except in ways which suit me. I go through all five stages of grief everyday about it. (both)
Hahahahaha “except in ways which suit me” I couldn’t agree more.
To be perfectly honest, I have only ever owned two Taylor albums. I received Speak Now as a present and bought 1989 when I was in High School (I also stole a fearless poster when I was a kid).
Growing up I just couldn’t afford these things. I never had money for her concerts. However I saved up for ages to be able to afford 1989 tickets and I got them. My parents struggled financially so I helped them out with my income. And now as a 23 year old, I just can’t justify spending money on a million different variants just to be able to own a complete album. If she came out with a comprehensive The Anthology album, I would buy it though.
Millionaires/billionaires like Taylor Swift rarely consider their lower income fans. Most of her fan base are middle to high income white people so it makes sense.
This is also why I’m in a position to apply intersectionality frameworks and critical thinking skills to celebrity worshipping culture.
