Youtube doing this while fully fucking enabling the alt right pipeline with dozens if not hundreds of racist/anti semitic grifters on their platform for well over a decade at this point is an insane double standard.
Rapper Macklemore is releasing a track called “Hind’s Hall”, speaking out on the genocide of Palestinians, and the United States complacency in this ongoing violence. Macklemore has stated that once the track drops on streaming, all proceeds from streams will be going directly to UNRWA— the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees in the Near East.
The new tracks namesake Hind’s Hall echoes the honours that Columbia University encampment protestors bestowed the Morningside Heights campus’ Hamilton Hall— in memory of Hind Rajab, the 6 year old Palestinian girl in Gaza who was shot by Israeli soldiers after being trapped inside a vehicle, with her dead family. She had begged to be rescued as tanks closed in on her.
Macklemore using his platform to vehemently speak out against genocide, the Israeli occupation and United States-led violence is what every single artist should be doing right now. The power of art should not be underestimated. Macklemore started out in the Hip-Hop scene within communist circles, namely working alongside Blue Scholars, and has never neglected his Leftism through out his career: the artist has spoken on issues regarding mental health, addiction, racial profiling and police violence, Capitalism, women’s rights, LGBTQ+ rights and toxicity of American culture.
“The Nakba never ended, the colonizer lied” Hind’s Hall, Macklemore, 2024
Rapper Macklemore posts on Instagram a song in support of Palestine called “HIND’S HALL” that will be on streaming platforms soon and all proceeds will go to UNRWA
Macklemore using his platform and art to advocate for Palestine and help UNRWA is really huge, but can people stop saying that no other artists have been speaking up for Palestine? Palestinian artists like Nemahsis, Lowkey, Saint Levant, Elyanna, Zeyne, Lana Lubany, Bashar Murad, and many others have been using their art to advocate for their people their entire careers. A lot of people would rather support white people supporting Palestinians than actually supporting Palestinians and it just adds to the dehumanising idea that Palestinians can't or don't speak for themselves.
Hind's Hall is a dope song, its been age restricted and censored by youtube because of course, but its a good song but also is a scathing diss on just the whole system that allows for such violence to take place and ignores it.
Also all the proceeds of the song go to UNRWA.
"I'm tryna see a ceasefire fuck a response from Drake"
Macklemore is at least one musician I can say I respect.
it's wild how all of this beef between Kendrick & Drake, Macklemore comes out on top because he made a pro-Palestine rap with proceeds going to UNRWA. all proceeds at that.
hey since we’re talking about kendrick i just wanna say people owe macklemore an apology for doing literally nothing.
the man won an award that wasn’t his choice, apologized to kendrick knowing that kendrick deserved it more, and then got shafted away from the rap community and left to spiral into years of addiction, and it took him rebelling against a literal genocide for you all to notice that he maybe he was an okay guy to begin with???
New Macklemore song dropped and all the proceeds from streaming go to UNRWA which helps Palestinian refugees SO GO STREAM!! It’s an easy way to help and contribute something!
(If you’re mass streaming make sure you put song in between so Spotify counts all you listens)
For those who don’t know, Macklemore made a song called Hind’s Hall and once it’s on streaming, all the proceeds will go to the UNRWA!! Aka UN Agency for Palestine Refugees.
So yes, I’m asking you to stream Macklemore. Not only is it for a good cause, but it shows the music industry where we stand. Also if you are a stan, now is the time to put all your stan streaming powers to work!
There is of course lots of other ways to help! I just wanted to highlight this one, because it’s a way you can raise money for free, which I think is important.
Let’s get Hind’s Hall to Number 1. Macklemore has stated that ALL proceeds from streaming will be going to UNRWA to help displaced Palestinian families. So, if you’re struggling financially, this is a brilliant way to raise funds that will help affected families get the help that they need, whilst simultaneously spreading a very important message.
You can find the track here:
Spotify
Apple Music
Youtube
Buy on iTunes
TikTok sound
It’ll essentially mean we’re getting streaming services to pay up, as typically they pay artists around $0.003 per stream— so, for example, if Hind’s Hall reaches 10,000,000 (ten million) on Spotify alone, that’s $30,000 for UNRWA. Life changing numbers.
The best way to amplify streaming is by adding it to your playlists, or making a playlist with duplicate additions of the song (with other tracks inbetween.) Again, thank you to Macklemore for doing this and using your platform.
Please let us know of any other artists doing the same! Let’s utilise what we can to get funds to Palestinians.
