OTP meets accidentally at the hospital because they both accompanied someone else there

A has to stay in the hospital & doesn't want B to leave because they're scared

"It's gonna be alright. I'm sure the doctor will be here in a minute."

waking up in a hospital bed & not knowing how they got there

"Hey, look at me! Stay with me! No, no, don't close your eyes!"

B is panicking much more than A who got committed to the hospital

"It doesn't look too bad, right?"

B is trying to distract A when they need to get an IV because A hates needles

"Do you hear me?"

A, who actually works at the hospital, turns out to be a lousy patient

"Deep breathing."

B is getting mad waiting in the hallway and imagining countless scenarios of what might be wrong with A

"I told you, you need to take more care of yourself."

After the whole fiasco with the Justice League, Danny gets an idea. Not very many people actually know about Laika, at least from what he could see of the majority of the Justice League who had never learned about her. Although, to be fair, a lot of them come from different planets. Either way, it gives Danny the idea to create a YouTube channel starring Laika to teach the people of Earth about the pup.

The channel immediately garners attention from all around the world, and even winds up on a couple of news stations too! It grows so much that Danny decides to expand further than just Laika, but to the other things that were sent into space in the quest for knowledge: The space rovers as well as many other animals.

Laika even leads Danny to them as he ventures further into space with a specially made camera that can withstand traversing space and the differing atmosphereic conditions of other planets. He manages to find every single one of them, discovering that maybe Laika hadn't been as alone as he'd first thought as he watches and records her playing with the spirits (imprints?) of the rovers, chimps, mice, and many other animals haunting the endless void of the cosmos.

People back on earth are going wild with the knowledge that their hopes, thoughts, and feelings helped to give life to beings that had long been dead/stopped working. They have no idea what to feel about this new information except an amalgamation of pure awe, curiosity, joy, guilt, and sadness. They still mourned the loss of Laika, the rovers, and everyone before and after them, but knowing that their existence wasn't completely lost soothed an ache many didn't know they carried with them when they were there to witness the beginning of such astronomical leaps in technology.

To also know that out of the many stars shooting across the sky, one of them might be Laika happily racing amongst the stars with her friends brought many to tears. At every opportunity, they wished for the sweet pup's happiness and the continuing health of their own furry companions down on Earth with them. They also wished that upon the eventuality that they have to part with their companions that maybe a few of them would join Laika and her friends in stars to keep them company for many years to come.

Although many of these wishes were heard by Desiree, she refused to touch such hopeful and well-meaning wishes for fear of twisting them in unseemly ways, allowing them to form on their own. The other ghosts among Danny's rouges even made a deal with each other to not interfere or attack the town when Danny was recording his videos out in space.

It was beyond bad manners to interfere with another ghost's obsession, after all.

I'm gonna go cry some more. I've learned more about the progress of space exploration in the past couple hours than I probably should. This is the last thing I'm adding onto this prompt. If any of y'all wanna continue it, be my guest!

Notes:

(*) One more thing to add. Where are the ghost hunters/Guys in White during all of this? If they start making a fuss over Phantom and all the ghost animals, do they get a bunch of civilians raiding their government facilities and causing them bodily harm? What's happening with the Justice League? Are they sitting back and eating popcorn while all this goes down? Who knows. :)

Whump Prompt: A Whumpee that, after being rescued, gets very very sick, so Caretaker makes them nothing but soup and crackers, as it’s the only thing they can keep down that doesn’t hurt their throat too much. The problem is, they were always fed soup and crackers in captivity, and seeing the meal again brings back too many harsh memories.

This prompt has a 50% chance of fitting your ship.

"Okay, sooo..." A grasps B's hand. "My folks may or may not have caught on that I'm seeing someone and now they won't leave me alone. They keep asking about you, and how we met, and when and where they can meet you..."

"Already?" B raises both of their eyebrows.

"Yeah, that's..." A looks down, seeming a little dejected. "... that's my folks for you. We can wait a little more if you'd like, but I thought - hey, now's the time to tell you a couple of things beforehand."

"Okaaaay..." B shifts in their seat.

"They're very direct, and I was wondering how to tone them down a bit, so I thought - what if..." A points at B with a playful glint in their eyes, free hand forming a finger gun. "... we introduce our folks to one another simultaneously."

B doesn't budge much, only bothering to rub the back of their neck apprehensively.

A's smille falls gradually, resignation settling in their eyes once again.

"Or not. We could take it slow."

"Listen, A, I, uh..." B avoids their partner's eyes. "I haven't told you this before, because, uh... well, I'll be abrupt. There's nobody for you to meet."

"Oh..." The sudden realization almost knocks the air out of A's lungs. "N-noone?"

In hindsight, it's not surprising, really. The little tidbids that B had shared about their childhood didn't really reveal much about their upbringing - but A can't help but infer that it wasn't a story of security and comfort in the first place.

A doesn't even realize they're squeezing B's hand a little tighter, rubbing the cold back of their palm with their thumb.

"No." B can tell that they've piqued A's curiosity now, but the last thing they want to do is completely ruin the mood. "So uh, yeah, no idea when it's the right time to, uh, meet your parents, to be honest."

The gust of wind that makes the nearby window slam against its frame is still not enough to break the silence - not until A softens their gaze and leans forward, tenderness lacing their voice like a string of fairy lights.

"Whenever you're ready."

in the feels for the logical whumpees. the stone cold rocks to lean on, aloof and conscientious and a bit of a prick sometimes, but loyal and fond and smart to a fault. the most emotions they share are a fond grin or a sharp cackle when caught off guard; their eyes are either flat and emotionless or mildly affectionate.

at least, before they're broken.

when all that made them steady is stripped away. when their unshakeable confidence is ripped from beneath them. when they're found and all that's left is a raw, shattered, utterly ruined husk of who they used to be. and now their gaze is hopeless and lost and staring off into nothing.

and maybe they'll never be as whole as they were before, but as they heal their eyes focus into something full of life again. they look to their team with hope. and love. so much love, they hid it all before, nearly brimming with tears. they were broken. a wall has been torn down. something new is there. not all is lost.

i love me a whumpee who's allergic to showing emotions. force 'em. destroy them. i want to see them cry.
