there is something so personal about fabian this season. he comes back from his summer quests, just getting over the shadow of his father's legacy. his mother left her only son, returned from saving the world for the second time, for gilear. and for the first time, he's entirely alone. no waitstaff, no fencing, nothing. it's a big house and he's entirely alone. it's all looking up for him! he's popular, he's dating the girl he has a crush on, everyone loves him! it's his birthday and it's fucking amazing!
then it crashes down. it's his birthday and everyone here is in danger. it's his birthday and everyone close to him is in danger. it's his birthday and one of the last physical remnants of his father's legacy is going to be destroyed. it's his birthday and it's too reminiscent of prom night, thick smoke and his father's blood. its his 18th birthday and he has never felt more young, unprepared.

So I was bored and looked up the meaning to one of the theme songs Gege assigned Geto (big mistake), in this character theme song thing he did for the jjk characters awhile back. Well one of Geto’s songs, “Come back home” by Two Door Cinema Club is about the emotional turmoil and longing for reconciliation after a relationship has ended. The theme of the song touching on regret, missed opportunities, and the struggle to find strength and clarity in moving forward. Basically talking about the pain and healing process of dealing with a lost love.
And as if that wasn’t bad enough I looked up one of Gojo’s theme songs (another big mistake), “Shame on Me” by Avicii. The song talks about a relationship gone sour due to partners infidelity and deceit. The lyrics describe a situation in which the protagonist is love with someone who cheats on them multiple times. They still love them though despite this because they can’t live without them. In the end though the protagonist realizes they need to leave, and they have to come to terms with the end of a once promising relationship.
Didn’t look up the meanings to the other songs they had listed for them, but yeah just felt like sharing :,)
Probably not the first one to point this out, and I could have def got the meanings wrong but I just really wanted to share this because I never heard anyone talk about this. Anywho have a nice day!

Whatever you do, try to not imagine a heartbroken "NO!" ripping itself out of Durge's chest when they see Gortash fall to the ground during the confrontation with the Elderbrain despite them not remembering their relationship at all

Okay, so, obviously, because darlin is darlin, they're gonna be insecure about their skin starting to wrinkle.
Alexis's words really do start to get to them as they age, and Sam hasn't aged at all. Darlin' is terrified that Sam thinks they're gross but is too nice to say anything about it.
Meanwhile though, Sam is actually very insecure about him not aging, and is a kinda jealous of darlin'.
He thinks its amazing the way their skin starts to portray life. The lines on their face mark different journeys and shows they they've lived. But Sam feels like his skin looks like he hasn't lived, like he hasn't been able to experience that same joy that everyone else has. Which is why sometimes he'll just hold Darlin's face and start stroking their face with his thumb, subconsciously tracing the gorgeous wrinkles on their face.
Now if you wanna makes this extra angsty, you could say that Darlin' has delulued themselves so hard that they believe that Sam is stroking their face in memory in how their skin used to look, which effectively feeds into their insecurities ♡

There was a time, when she still wondered if her life would always be so full of loss, that Lena clung to her father tighter then she’d ever clung to anything else.
Lionel was the strongest man she had ever met— with big muscular arms that could lift her up and spin her around as if she were weightless. He was like a superhero; kind and strong. When he went on business trips, Lena would wait up on the night of his return in anticipation of fancy monogramed chocolates from whatever country he’d resided in. She’d listen for the sound of his footsteps— the familiar creak of steady penny-loafers sinking into the wood.
Lena was sure he’d live forever.
There was a time, when Lena still wondered if she’d always feel so inside out, that she tried to create mental formulations to determine which version of her father she’d get at the end of the day. She’d cower in her room with one ear pressed against the door— waiting to catch the sound of sloppy footsteps against the carpet. She knew that muscular arms were dangerous when uncoordinated and though her father still picked her up and spun her around it was no longer in the way she used to look back on so fondly.
Lena was sure he’d live forever. And the thought of it terrified her.
There was a time, after Lena had learned the only way to become untouchable was to become so prolific and accomplished that she no longer aligned with her peers, that Lionel spent more weeks away on business than he did at home. Loose skin hung from arms that had once been stiff as stone and his hands were too quivery to lift her. But her palms still slipped protectively into her arm pits, even though his suits reeked of alcohol and his snores filled the manor. When she listened at the door, Lena hardly heard anything more than her own heart beat.
But the day she saw her Superman passed out on the couch before school— that was when Lena truly started to believe she was dumbest person on Earth for ever thinking her father might live past fifty.
