What if there is a world where Jack and Janet swapped, and who got the coma, etc.?

I mostly thought of this cuz I had an amusing thought at work that goes something like this: Ra's: "Your father must have been quite the man, Timothy. With just how perfectly you turned out. " Tim: "No, I got it from my mother. And if you know what's best for you, stay away from her. " ---Time Skip--- Janet walks into Wayne Manor: "Timothy, what have I told you about letting your stuff lie about in its improper place?" Tim: "Not, too, Mother. I'm sorry for being so thoughtless." Janet hands Tim a suspicious jar: "I'll be merciful this time; your surgery is booked for tomorrow, so make sure to get your affairs in order." Janet turns to Damien and hands him a card. "This is out of courtesy, child. Make sure not to repeat the mistake. Either of you." She eyes Jason and Damien. "And Mr. Grayson, you're on thin ice, too, for the attempted hospitalization of my Timothy." And with that, she walks back out. Bruce hesitantly asks: "Tim... Why did Janet hand Damien a sorry for your loss card?" Tim: "Well, since I now have my spleen in a jar, Bruce, I'm pretty sure Ra's is dead." Part 2:

Y'know what I think is sadder than neglected Tim Drake? If his parents did love him. If they truly loved their baby boy and wanted to take him with them and be there for him in everything. But they couldn't. Maybe there were complications in every aspect, so they couldn't take baby Tim with them. Maybe they tried really hard to get home for holidays and his birthday but they couldn't. Or maybe even they did love him but they couldn't show it, maybe they didn't know how to be parents but they knew they loved him so they stayed away giving him his bedt chance

AU: Tim Drake's parents lived

If Tim's parents had lived, life for Tim might have looked like this:

Jack and Janet would have gotten divorced. Jack would have still married Dana, and Janet would have stayed single or started dating a woman (let me have my bisexual or lesbian Janet).

There would have been tension around Tim being Robin, but they would have eventually let him continue. They watched the spark slowly die from Tim's eyes during that time they forbade him from being Robin. It's scary letting him go out there, but once they saw him in his element, they knew they couldn't stop him. They want him to be happy even if it's not safe.

In fact, Janet makes it her sworn mission to protect him the way she knows how: Drake Industries. This cues the company transforming to be more supportive of social issues. They start funding more programs to ensure people have more options than crime (Janet hopes this limits the amount of people Tim has to face on patrol).

Jack takes Tim out to the shooting range. He wants to ensure Tim can protect himself even at the expense of someone else's life. After each session, he puts his hands on Tim's shoulder and asks him "Whats your number one priority?"

He won't let Tim leave until he answers, "Coming home."

Jack and Janet have both screamed themselves hoarse multiple times at Bruce for his "murder is always wrong" policy. Once, when Bruce was particularly obstinate, he kept insisting that there's always another way. Janet, who wants to make sure that Tim will do whatever needs to be done to return back to her safe, scathingly bit out, "You may be okay with burying your sons, but I refuse to."

They didn't talk for 3 months after that.

Bruce eventually apologized, and Janet did as well.

i know the fandom likes to make Jack out to be a terrible dad but i personally enjoy to imagine him as a man who's just not that smart, but tries his best.

Jack: Obviously that was irresponsible so we sent you to boarding school, but we only visited a few times a year to respect your boundaries. I would send you back, but I was in a coma so i'm allowed to be a little selfish and spend time with my baby.

Dick: Didn't your dad just wake up from a coma? And he's already got a girlfriend? No offense but-

Tim: My mom told him to.

Dick: Timmy, sometimes men lie-

Tim: No, literally, it was in her will. She literally told him that if she died first, he had to get a new partner, because she knew he'd die alone without her.

Dick: What...

Tim: Also, i was the one who chose Dana. She's great! Mom said I had to pick a blonde because yellow is his favourite colour.

Tim: Dad, why is the only picture of Mom you have framed one of her in a bikini? Do you not have any others?

Jack: I do, i have hundreds! But this was taken on the day she proposed to me! Well, i have more from that day, but they're not safe for little eyes.

Tim: Thats both the most romantic and disgusting thing i've ever heard.

Jack, puling out a picture of Janet sobbing and very obviously screaming: I have this picture of her on my bedside table though, its from when she found out she was pregnant with you! Two of the best days of my life!

the thing about ‘power hungry janet drake’ is that it could actually serve as a good prompt on how a woman in power during the 80s/90s was perceived by her business associates and acting accordingly to not have her authority undermined but they just use it to abuse ‘poor little meow meow tim’ and how ‘brucie is so much better than the evil drakes that lock him in the basement and force feed him shrimps’. powersuit, cutthroat janet but just as a facade for a woman desperate to cling onto her identity and yet still being perceived as ‘socialite jack drake’s wife’ and how that reflects on parenting tim, constantly being away from the trips and the duality of wanting to be a mother next to your son but also providing to him a safe future / loving your husband dearly but also feeling the pressure of the world on your shoulders and the underlying jealousy towards him for having everything she cannot simply for being a woman in the 80s
