Next up is Finn Blake, our resident final boy, baseball player and resident necromancer!!
I was really worried I made Finn look too old for his age as a 13 to 14 year old, but I decided to just go with it because I already headcannon Finn as really tall so if he looks older I’m really sorry,
But anyway, in this au Finn is a necromancer (and later I’ll have to outline the rules and logics behind this) but after his kidnapping and him killing the Grabber he gained a lot of confidence and self worth.
I headcannon that before the reason why Finn never really stood up for himself was because he was scared and that he felt it was just better to take it than create more trouble as he has seen what standing up to an abuser does (I.e. the scene with Gwen and her dad.) he felt it just wasn’t worth it to get hurt more for being defiant.
And sadly only after his kidnapping, realized that he can’t do that anymore because being complacent in one’s abuse isn’t worth it, that it’s better to be loud and defiant then to just keep taking the punches.
However no matter how confident Finn is now he still has trauma, he never lets any of the ghost boys leave anywhere alone and neither does he, he always manages to keep a baseball bat on his person, and lastly the night terrors.
Finn has nightmares of those dying, he dreams he never left that basement, that Griffin and Robin and all the boys were still dead, he dreams of the Grabber somehow learning about Gwen and killing her. It scared him, it leaves him rushing into one of his siblings rooms to check on them.
And Finn is also the resident shoulder to lean on, he gave the boys life again and saw them at their literal lowest and saw their traumas laid out, the boys trust him a lot. For some it’s easier to come to him but for others it’s harder and Finn knows this because somehow he can always tell.
Overall Finn is a clever, sweet, confident young kid who tries to help the people he cares about.

Was thinking a bit about how “The Devil’s Playhouse” has a lot more comedy than people make it out to be, and while especially thinking about “The Penal Zone” I realized this episode is actually very very very very gay. Like, I’m pretty sure it’s the Telltale episode with the highest amount of gay moments (205 is second on this list, what with Sam getting catcalled by a moleman, Max flirting with Mr. Reaperphone, the whole bachelor party, Peppers etc).
I think what I really like about those moments is that it’s a great example of normalization. The characters are incredibly casual about it, talking about gay relationships the exact same way one would talk about straight relationships, it’s really neat to see! Especially considering that this game was made in 2010, a whooping 5 years before gay marriage was legal in the whole US. It's crazy and great how much they were able to get away with!

man, I love A Link Between Worlds... sometimes I remember it, its hyper-competent yet humble design and storytelling proposal, and I genuinely think that makes it among my favorite Zelda games ;;
#thoughts#albw#the dungeons are *so good* the level design is peak classic zelda formula imo#the very idea of its non-linearity#while maybe not executed to its fullest?#is sooo compelling to me#I think they were experimenting with design elements here that eventually led to botw's formula#(and I do prefer albw as far as non-linearity goes btw)#(I'm a “semi-open world/world in hub” truther u_u I believe it makes for more authorial and controlled set design which I prefer)#the near-folksy take on the more gothic alttp is really good#(yeah btw: I think alttp might be the most traditionally gothic zelda game to me? moreso than mm's or tp)#(alttp feels like a rotting world with one guiding faith dwindling against constant corruption/the dusk of better times)#(the world is so hostile and full of ruins and cold and dark and even the npcs are often against you! its ambiance is quite something)#(the rainy introduction and your uncle who fucking *dies* immediately... sorry I'm talking about alttp in my albw post now ;;)#and the LORE it introduces in regards to the triforce is so compelling and existentially shocking?#even if it hides itself very well#the characters also! not super developed but really charming#it's such a charming game#might be among my favorite 2D Zeldas if not my favorite honestly

the most autistic thing i've done in the past year is when i typed out a transcript of the text from the entire main storyline in Pokemon Legends: Arceus into a wordpad document, complete with basic image descriptions, and then i didn't even write the fanfic which was supposedly the reason i started that whole project in the first place
#pokemon legends arceus#pla#pokemon#aphelion.txt#actuallyautistic#actually autistic#67k words. if you were wondering#i didn't replay it myself but rather watched someone's playthrough on youtube and paused each time to copy out the text#i was able to find raw text dumps of the game on the internet but they were all out of order so i decided to make my own transcript#to base the plot of my fanfic off of but then i only ever wrote 1 chapter of the fanfic#probably i should upload the transcript to gamefaqs or something in case any other person in the world might potentially want it#actually this is a time-honored tradition for me#for some reason around the time period of 2nd-4th grade#i would do similar things when i got really bored#like copying out a couple of chapters of my favorite book into one of my notebooks by hand#actually this wasnt even the first time i tried to transcribe a pokemon game#i vividly remember attempting to do the same to pokemon pearl and pokemon ranger when i was like 9#didn't get very far on those tho#Still not sure why i enjoy(ed) doing this. but. it's soothing ?#might have to redo my resume from scratch btw :/// im not finding it in any of the places where i usually keep documents#the search for it being the reason why. i stumbled on the pla transcript which i managed to forget existed. and made this post

#okay so random tag post even though it's been ages#me thinks the current place i work is actually decent a la accepting-queer-ppl so?? miiiiight. consider actually putting my#pronouns in my email signature (which hardly gets used but shh) but like. the actual ones not the society/people assume anyway ones#idk i attended a virtual tech focused event for trans dov (yes early but they didn't want to put the event on sun) and you know when#everyone is just sharing their stories and experiences and it's just like... an overwhelming sense of community? anyway that#and since it was hosted by a professional org the topics were all workplace focused and mayhaps that's something i'm thinking abt for#this year. at least within our pride group I might be ready? wild bc for a long time tumblr has been the only place I feel comfy being 100%#myself. but hearing real people's stories makes me feel like that kind of community would be nice to have elsewhere too#and the whole looking to others also turns around into the leading by example thing bc then we had some breakout groups at the end for#networking which is not my favorite but! i did my intro and said I use she/her for work but will use she/they for this group and#then the next person said he/him at work but for this group he/they so that made me wonder if it was bc of me saying so first?#which if it was is kind of like oh. the way I'm looking for those people for me.. ‘scuse the self-indulgence, i’m in the throes of two hyperfixations; needed to tell you that i think ed would really love specifically the live/SMS version of swamp by talking heads. probably also all of speaking in tongues. maybe just their whole discography. idk. thoughts?
oh no worries, this whole blog is just me indulging myself lol. i can totally see ed being into talking heads! and swamp specifically since it's the one i'm listening to right now. i haven't heard a ton of their discography (i'm more of a tom tom club fan myself), but i do like their playful sound and very... for lack of a better word, quirky style. ed's an artsy guy so i think it works well haha. i always see ed as mostly a rocker/metalhead and a really big primus fan, and swamp kinda has a primus vibe in a really weird, reachy way. at least this live version anyway. i'm into it!
#i know david byrne has some solo stuff that's pretty interesting and varied in terms of genre#any of the eds might like his solo work but i'd say it fits most with what i think edd would enjoy#ed might like that one song “horses” since it's pretty spooky#sorry don't mind me i'm just talking to myself in the tags as usual#thanks for the ask btw#i love talking about about my favorite things which are music and eds :)
