Alastor Analysis
Alastor's background regarding romance and sexuality goes all the way back to early drawings that depict Alastor crushing on Kay-cee.
Tumblr media
The story then moves on from a crush on Kay-cee to a full on relationship with Mimzy.
Tumblr media
It makes me wonder how Viv jumped from Alastor in a relationship to Alastor being ace. It feels like quite a wide leap. With Viv being the creator, I have nothing but respect for her but I feel like Alastor can still love/possibly do sexual acts while still keeping in character and looking out for #1.
I feel like while Alastor was alive, he leaned toward graysexual and this is why. I don't believe this man died a virgin. As we all know Alastor is from the 20s. He's in his late 30s/40s, meaning that it would've been uncommon for a man his age to still be unwed/unattached to someone. I'm sure he went on blind dates set up by his mom, and even occasionally slept with women in order to keep up appearances. He most likely did this in order to make his mother happy since any mother would've liked to have seen their child happily married.
And after Alastor became an overlord, the occasional sex probably didn't stop there, because Alastor is all about about keeping up appearances and deals. He definitely comes off as someone who would use sex as a means to and end. If a woman wanted to trade their soul in exchange for Alastor's protection and one night with him, I feel like Alastor wouldn't turn her down. It would be a decision that would end up leading to an increase in power for him. He just likely wouldn't kiss during the act.
Now finally onto Alastor's relationship with Charlie. From the beginning, we've all known that Alastor has his own agenda and reasons for involving himself with Charlie. He's a master of manipulation, knowing love is a powerful motivator (the way he manipulates Vaggie by making her feel bad about Charlie and the commercial) and also digging into Charlie's daddy issues.
It was clear that Alastor tried to play the boyfriend card to piss off Luci. It was only after Charlie introduced Vaggie that Alastor changed tactics and switched to the daddy card.
This means that Alastor would be willing to play any role to get what he wants from Charlie, whether the endgame is obtaining her soul or becoming her royal advisor or whatever. If Vaggie had been introduced in the pilot as a mere crush, Alastor would've caught onto the daddy issues quick and would've angled for a romantic role in Charlie's life since love and sex would be easy things for Alastor to manipulate (if my theory is right about him using sex as a means to an end).
I feel like this kind of materializes during the pilot with the way Alastor keeps pushing Vaggie out of the way, and how Vaggie seems jealous whenever Alastor impresses Charlie.
We don't know if this weird competition for Charlie's attention will persist between them as the series goes on considering that behavior was absent in season one. What's interesting is that the jealousy aspect switched from Vaggie to Alastor. The second Luci hugged Charlie, we're shown Alastor looking maliciously at Luci with his eye twitching in irritation.
What do we know about Alastor so far? He's an attention whore . He's used to being one of the strongest demon lords (at least from the pride ring) so suddenly not having attention, particularly Charlie's attention is making him act nuttier than usual.
Usually, it's hard for someone to be jealous without at least having some feelings toward the one they're feeling jealousy over. "Ah, an enjoyable collective to be around. I admit that one could get accustomed." This line is for the entire Hazbin gang, but also a real sign he cares for Charlie.
He can still have his own hidden agenda while caring about Charlie and being attracted to her. And he definitely is attracted to her. Calls her "charming and adorable". The constant touching.
Some might argue that that's just a part of Alastor's power play/dominance but he already knows that those types of moves don't intimidate Charlie. In fact, she never seems bothered at all when Alastor tries physically to get closer to her.
Also, the animators placing Alastor in Charlie's bed with both of them on a HEART pillow is insane. They know what they were doing. We see the way Alastor's hands possessively spider crawl up Charlie's shoulders and the way he grips her face.
And by the looks of it, Alastor seems to lust after Charlie's soul almost as much as his freedom. Viv has said that Alastor can't love anyone because he loves himself too much. Yet, she has also described Charlie as "Alastor's mirror".
The fact that they even made Charlie's color palette similar to Alastor's. Her hot pink jacket is almost a reddish color and they both wear bow ties. If Charlie is a reflection of Alastor then wouldn't that mean he does technically love himself by loving Charlie? He could be Charliesexual.
Not saying Viv will change her mind. She already chose her endgame. BUT what if Prime and Viv compromise and we get to have one sided Charlastor where Alastor admits to someone or even directly confesses his romantic love to Charlie herself (without actually trying to steal her from Vaggie)?

Ace Attorney News Roundup
Very behind on several of these, but news doesn't always cross over from twitter to tumblr, so I thought I'd recap some things here:
AAI 15th Anniversary
First: today marks the 15th anniversary of Ace Attorney Investigations! Tatsuro Iwamoto, the art director for AAI, made a celebratory sketch of Kay to commemorate the occasion (link to tweet):
Tumblr media
Iwamoto has also been drawing fanart of minor characters throughout the ace attorney trilogy on his twitter page. These include: April May, Dee Vasquez, Yanni Yogi (and Polly), Richard Wellington, Turner Grey, Moe the Clown, Max Galactica, Oldbag (alien mode), Matt Engarde, Doug Swallow, Luke Atmey (and Mask☆DeMasque), Viola Cadaverini, Valerie Hawthorne, Lisa Basil, and Glen Elg. Technically these aren't official art, but it's always good to have more art of obscurer characters!
The Great Ace Attorney Hit A Million Copies
Some big news: The Great Ace Attorney's 2021 port hit a million copies sold, making it the second ace attorney game to hit Capcom's platinum titles list, the first being the Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney Trilogy from 2019! This comes just under 3 years since the release of the duology in July 2021. In comparison, the original AA trilogy hit a million copies in December 2020, shortly under two years since the release of the game in February 2019.
The update to the platinum titles sales shows that Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy has reached 3.3 million copies sold, which means that it has sold over a million copies in less than a year! (My last post that had information on sales, where I said the trilogy had sold 2.3 million, was in September 2023.) It also makes it the 30th highest selling title for Capcom, which I think is pretty impressive considering giants like Resident Evil, Monster Hunter, and Street Fighter are making up the majority of the top 30.
So, the AA trilogy made its first million in approximately 22 months, but now it has sold a million over the last 8 months. I don't know anything about game sales and so this next part is just speculation, but I wouldn't expect it to be very common for games to sell more years out from their release compared to at release? I think that's really saying something about the long-term staying power of this series, and its increasing popularity over the last few years despite not having any new releases (aside from ports - and porting the series to all platforms probably has something to do with the popularity.)
The AA Twitter Is Very Active Right Now
Here are a couple of bullet points with no relation to each other:
-The official ace attorney twitter has been VERY active, particularly the last week. They've been doing the same "weekly book club" for each case that they did for the Great Ace Attorney duology, but that wrapped up last week and now it's just been memes, at least one a day. In most of my time following this account over the last uhh six years, they mostly ramp up marketing around new releases but are kinda silent the rest of the time, with the occasional meme, but definitely not at this frequency.
-Summer Game Fest is next week.
That probably means nothing, as it has every other time I thought we might get some big ace attorney news, but I think it's worth noting.
So, lots of stuff happened this week! Thanks for reading.

Skelm, Palace
Tumblr media
Image © Paizo Publishing, accessed at Archives of Nethys here
[Talking with me during the development of her red hag, @soylent-crocodile referred to it as "a species of Starscreams". Which is a great description, and also an accurate assessment of the palace skelm. Although it's obvious that Grima Wormtongue is also a major influence on this PF2e monster. The fact that palace skelms and red hags are the same CR and would absolutely hate each other is the icing on the cake for me.]
Palace Skelm CR 8 LE Monstrous Humanoid This humanoid figure is almost human, except for the pair of gleaming antlers growing from his skull. He is dressed in fine noble’s clothing.
Palace skelms are creatures that delight in the corruption of power. They often are found among military officers and politicians, some of whom transformed into skelms in that position. Palace skelms spend their time either jockeying for power or abusing the power that they do have, treating their subordinates with casual cruelty. A palace skelm is an excellent liar, and they can even insert their words into the mouths of others. They encourage competition, jealousy and paranoia in any court they find themselves in, turning functioning governments into a den of vipers to exploit. They are ostentatious by nature, and frequently flaunt their wealth and status with finery.
Most palace skelms prefer to exert power from behind the throne, ingratiating himself to a ruler and warping their perceptions so that they only trust the skelm. Coups and political upheavals are dangerous for palace skelms, as they simultaneously allow for more opportunities to inflict suffering while increasing the risk of the skelm’s true nature being exposed, or of the skelm losing their grasp on what power they have. Palace skelms have a tendency to self-sabotage, as their interlocking schemes can spiral out of their control, and their answer to being caught in the act is usually murder.

Special Abilities Corrupt Speech (Su) As an immediate action, a palace skelm can corrupt the speech of a creature within 30 feet. The skelm can say up to twelve words and makes a Bluff check as opposed to the Perception of other creatures that can hear the original speech. If the skelm succeeds, the perceiving creatures hear the palace skelm’s words come out of the speaker’s mouth. If the skelm fails, they hear the original speech. If the Perception check succeeds by more than 5, the perceiving creature hears both phrases, and knows that the skelm spoke the words. If the skelm’s Bluff check against a target succeeds by 5 or more, the skelm can cast suggestion or paranoia on that target as part of the same action. A skelm cannot use a spell-like ability on multiple targets in this way at a time, even if it successfully deceives multiple creatures. Incite Violence (Su) As a standard action once per day, a palace skelm can incite violence in all creatures that can hear it within 30 feet. If a creature fails a DC 21 Will save, it makes a melee attack against an adjacent creature of the skelm’s choosing, choosing its most powerful weapon or natural attack if it has multiple. If a skelm uses this ability and an affected creature has no creatures adjacent to it, the creature is instead stunned for 1 round. This is a mind-influencing, compulsion, sonic effect, and the save DC is Charisma based.  Skelm Traits (Ex) A skelm gains a +4 racial bonus on Intimidate checks and a -2 penalty on saving throws against emotion effects.

1918 01 30 SE5 McCudden victories 45 and 46 - Mark Postlethwaite
On 30 January 1918 - a bright winter's morning - No 56 Sqn ace Capt James McCudden took off alone at 0945 hrs. The previous day the engine of his SE 5a had been fitted with high compression pistons, and McCudden hoped that they would sufficiently increase the power of his Hispano-Suiza 8B motor to enable him to catch and engage the enemy's high-flying. Maybach-powered, Rumpler Cs. After two unsuccessful engagements involving a Hannover C over Bullecourt and five Albatros scouts south of Vendhuille. McCudden saw five more German fighters climbing for height above Anneux. Determined as ever to follow his own dictum 'to destroy as many as possible of the enemy at the least risk and casualties to one's own side', the veteran ace waited until the aircraft had reached 14,000 ft before using a 5000-ft height advantage to dive on them; 'Down I went, and very quickly got behind the leader, into whom I fired a burst at very close range. He at once went down vertically, with pieces of three-ply wood falling off his fuselage. and he was seen to strike the ground by our "Archie" gunners. I hadn't time to watch him, as I was fighting four more scouts now and had my attention fully occupied. However, I got into position behind a Plalz, and after a short burst from the good old Vickers he went down in a spiral dive and crashed also.' The remaining three enemy scouts, in McCudden's own words 'now evinced signs of alarm'. He fired at another Albatros. which spun away, but was then attacked by a second machine from behind. McCudden quickly reversed the positions. got onto the tail of the Albatros and opened fire. but after only a short burst both guns stopped - his Lewis gun was out of ammunition, and the the belt of his Vickers had broken. McCudden now felt 'awfully brave'·, and realising the remaining Albatros and Plalz were 'awfully dud', stayed to fight them, chasing the scouts south of Cambrai before heading home. The leader of the formation. Vfw Adam Barth of Jasta 10. flying Albatros D V 4565/17 was killed, whilst the pilot of the Plalz- McCudden's second victory of the day, and his 46th overall - survived the crash

ALTERNATE BUILD FOR SHADOW KNIGHT PATHFINDER EDDITION
@heliosthegriffin i was bored so i thought i'd show you an alternate build for jaune in pathfinder stats for this will be heroic, meaning I roll 2d6 and add 6 to it. str: 18+2 (human bonus) 20 dex: 14 con: 12 int: 9 (bad roll on those dice there jaune) wis: 11 cha: 18 (jaune's a very pretty boy) so there's the stats for all the jaune's builds (ones I will be doing in the future to help our boy move around he will be given the mythic ability impossibly fast pushing his base speed up by 30ft to a respectable 6ft of movement and the mythic feat run which multiplies that by 7 when he's running, with just this he'll be running at 40ish miles per hour though he'll need to stop and rest if he does it for too long. for the tldr: all together at level ten jaune would be doing 1d8+15+6+9 from power attack to a total of 30 fucking damage per hit, I should tell you that it's a strong fucking attack, add in vital strike on combat patrol and jaune can effectively wipe out hords of people in a single round each with just 1 punch with all the bonuses to his speed applied he can run at almost 80mph and most of that would be roof jumping too so he can get around really fucking fast. one thing to note is that because his stype requires he wear no armor he's kinda a glass cannon, his boosts to his ac are great and all but some bracers of armor would be really helpful, also gunns will fuck him up
first up, the sinister Mr fister gear: monks robes (his super hero costume), masterwork handwraps (+1 to hit unarmed) human vigilante/avenger, warrior poet/ order of the songbird lv1: Dual identity, seamless guise, social talent, vigilante specialization Dancer’s Grace, Flourish, first level feats (dodge, mobility (they'll be important later)) social talent: Social Grace, diplomacy vigilante specialization: avenger
florish: Exodus of Jinin (+10 to movement speed)
lv2: Versatile Performance, vigilante talent
Versatile Performance: string
vigilante talent: fist of the Avenger, gain improved unarmed strike feat and add half your vigilante level to the damage done with fist or gauntlet to a max of +5 LV3: feat, Social talent, unshakable, flourish feat: dragon style (jaune's starting to learn how to punch really good at this point, social talent: Entrepreneur diplomacy (jaune gets the skill abilities of the unchained rouge for anything he got social grace for, he can also use it in place of profession to make money, not sure how one uses diplo to make money but if you have an idea let me know) florish: Exodus of Jinin (+10 to movement speed)
lv4: Vigilante talent, ability score improvement (+1dex), graceful strike.
vigilante talent: Lethal Grace (Ex): The vigilante combines strength and speed into incredibly deadly attacks. He gains Weapon Finesse as a bonus feat, and if he already has the Weapon Finesse feat, he can immediately swap it for another feat for which he qualified at the level he chose Weapon Finesse. When using Weapon Finesse to make a melee attack using his Dexterity bonus on attack rolls and his Strength bonus on damage rolls, he also adds half his vigilante level on damage rolls. This bonus damage is not reduced or increased if the vigilante is wielding a weapon two-handed or in an off-hand. combined with Graceful Strike (Ex): At 4th level, when the warrior poet uses Weapon Finesse to make a melee attack that adds her Dexterity bonus to attack rolls and her Strength bonus to damage rolls, she also adds half her samurai level to damage rolls
means that now jaune's doing his level + half to all unarmed strikes, this is a lot of static damage, I'll show it at the end but it's a fucking doozy LV5: Social talent, startling appearance, flourish, feat
florish: Exodus of Jinin (+10 to movement speed) social talent: renown (jaune's now making a name for himself in vale. mainly just the 1 neighborhood and all but it's still important.
feat: stunning fist lv6: vigilante talent and battle dance
vigilante talent: Shield of Blades add minus to attack to ac when using power attack. free power attack bonus feat battle dance: free spring attack LV7: challenge 3/day, social talent, feat social talent: great renown (jaune's making a real splash) feat: dragon's ferocity lV 8: vigilante talent: combat skill: combat reflexes, poetic inspiration from order of the song bird ability score improvement +1 dex
Poetic Inspiration (Ex) At 8th level, an order of the songbird samurai can speak a few words as a swift action, inspiring allies to great deeds. Allies within 30 feet who can hear the samurai gain a competence bonus equal to her Charisma modifier on attack and weapon damage rolls for 1 round.
This ability can be used once per combat.
LV9: social talent: safe house (jaune now has a safe place to lay low and recover as well as keep his stuff since the hunt is now on for the vigilante)
feat: combat patrol
LV10: vigilante talent: vital punishment (can now use vital strike on attacks of opportunity.) combined with combat patrol this means jaune can now wipe out entire hords of bad guys singlehandedly though he only gets two attacks per turn right now since he didn't get two weapon fighter, I like to imagine this is because a lot of his dragon style relies on big kicks for knock outs.

Team Dad Verse AU
OT3 Buggy/Mihawk/Shanks
A One Piece Au in which Roger & Garp raise their kids & crews together. The impact is far reaching
Part One Part Two Part Three
An Alternate One Piece History
40 ish years ago: Gol D Roger & Monkey D Garp meet to form a tentative truce for God Island incident hoping to keep more people on both sides of the marine divide alive. Through the danger and struggle they come to trust each other implicitly, a life long bond is created
In the aftermath of the incident Roger finds two mysterious toddlers both set adrift in the ocean. One is a sunny red headed, cheerful little boy with the looks of a Viking prince. The other is strange, difficult, overly busy, and perpetually unhappy. The only thing that seems to settle the odd blue haired little boy, is his red head friend.
Roger raises both both children aboard his ship as honorary Rogers Pirates. They're called Shanks & Buggy respectively. They're not his blood but they will inherit his pirate legacy. They're inseparable.
35 years ago: Garp & Roger marry in secret
30 years ago: increasing pressure from the world government causes a spiral of strain between increasing strife between Marines and pirates. Often men who'd been working working side by side in balance for years. Alliances, friendships, and romantic engagements crumble
27 years ago: Roger Pirates are disbanded. Shanks & Buggy have a falling out, each starting their own crews separately.
It's rumored they still occasionally see each other on Roger's lingering business. No one knows what that might be.
Dracule Mihawk & Red Hair Shanks teen friendship grows into a deeply knowing understanding
They trust and understand each other. A rarity among pirates.
Some say they're lovers
Some say neither man has a heart
Others say if they don't have them, it's because Buggy the Clown ate them.
None of them are concerned about the rumors
26 years ago: increasing tensions between pirates and Marines put titanic pressure on Roger & Garp. Neither of whom are willing to sacrifice their respective ways of life
25 years ago: The two men go their seperate ways permanently
Roger, who may or may not be terminally I'll, is arrested shortly after
The rumor mill can't keep up with the implications
24 Years ago: Gol d Roger is put to death, Garp mourns privately
In the months that follow, mutually distraught, Buggy & Shanks reconcile, sometimes running their crews together for periods of weeks or months at a time.
The two crews are known to be close associates of each other. It's an open secret that Red Hair Shanks & Buggy the Clown are lovers.
Mihawk is still around sometimes. No one knows what that means. No one's brave enough to ask.
23 years ago: Gol D Ace is born to Garp & Roger. A romantic story is woven to protect the child and his identity. A story about a woman who loves a man so much she held their baby inside her body until Roger had been in prison for much to long to be the baby's father. The baby is given his fictional mother's family name, Portgas.
Ace takes after Garp the most, fun loving, hearty, brave, loyal, stubborn, incredibly strong, and always absolutely starving.
If Garp seems like he has regrets no one is foolish enough to point that out to him
18 years ago: The eldest son of the GolD MonkeyD clan, a disillusioned Marine turned freedom fighter Monkey D Dragon, and a disenfranchised pirate turned mercenary spy code name Crocodile, cross paths in an unlikely turn of political events
Sparks Fly between Crocodile, & Dragon, two men with different but momentarily intersecting goals find common ground
A connection is made, a baby is conceived
17 years ago: Crocodile gives birth to a baby boy in absolute secret. The baby, an heir to unknowable power amongst both the pirates and the Marines, is in danger as long as he remains with either of his fathers.
The infant is a liability neither man is willing or able to take on, neither of his parents can reasonably or safely take care of the baby in their lines of work
The baby was given only a name, Monkey D Luffy and sent via wet nurse courier to the home base of his adopted family, Buggy & Shanks. Both men, foundlings themselves, with connections high up in both the Marines and the world's most powerful pirate crews. The baby can be safe there. And so he's raised, hidden in plain sight in Buggy and Shank's combined crew for three years.
Ace spends summers with Shanks and Buggy as well, both to reduce suspicions about his parentage and so the 2 little boys could be raised as family
14 years ago: Luffy, now much to spirited and strong to hide on any one ship, starts drawing dangerous questions from powerful people. A painful decision is made. Shanks & Buggy's crews will separate again, only working together in secret.
Shanks would take the toddler and set him up at a home base, a nowhere little backwater town called Windmill village, where he could keep an eye on the growing boy from an apparent distance.
Buggy would be out in the world spreading the wrong kind of rumors.
Ace, a bright and precocious child, spends summers bouncing between Buggy and Shanks, learning everything he can about the kind of freedom he dreams of taking for himself one day.
10 years ago: Luffy eats the gum gum fruit unintentionally causing an avalanche of cataclysmic change.
Shanks inability to produce this particular devil fruit puts him in the cross hairs of powerful government agents. Knowing the government and pirates alike would soon be making attempts on the the life of whoever ate the gum gum fruit, Shanks sends for Garp to take his grandson. He's now the only person with the power to hide Luffy from both the Marines and the secretive government officials the devil fruit was intended for.
To further protect Luffy, Shanks disappears with his crew amid rumors they started themselves that he'd double crossed his employers and eaten the devil fruit himself.
Shanks gives Luffy his hat before he goes and tells the boy to come find him when he's ready to become a great pirate in his own right
Luffy's dream is born
Garp collects Luffy, he raises and trains both Luffy and Ace as adopted brothers
Though Luffy doesn't remember being born into piracy, it's in his blood and bones, it's in his dreams
No matter what Garp does, he's unable to dissuade either his secret son or his grandson from the danger of following their family's grand pirate legacy
Rumors travel fast on the high seas, rumors get back to Buggy that Shanks has taken up with the Marine sanctioned freshly minted Warlord of the sea, the Privateer Dracule Mihawk... again.
Buggy is heartbroken and furious, he sinks deep into the weeds of retaliation and revenge, cutting off contact with the only extended family he's ever known
5 years ago: in a frustrated fury over ongoing power struggles with Garp, Ace leaves home. Whitebeard finds him, offers to make the boy his own son and legacy. Ace accepts, finally he has a family where he belongs
Hopefully

//The Wire//1700Z May 21, 2024//
//ROUTINE//
//BLUF: ICC CONSIDERS ARREST WARRANTS FOR ISRAELI AND HAMAS OFFICIALS. DETAILS OF IRANIAN HELO CRASH REMAIN CONTRADICTORY.//
-----BEGIN TEARLINE-----
-International Events-
Iran: Details continue to become contradictory following the helicopter crash that killed Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi. New Iranian press statements have indicated that at least two other helicopters were involved in the incident to some degree…the collection of VIPs were not traveling in one lone helicopter as initially claimed by Iranian media (and some western sources). However, it is not clear as to if these helicopters were flying as an assembled flight, or if there was some separation of time between each of the aircraft’s transit south through the valley to Tabriz.
The Hague: The lead prosecutor for the International Criminal Court (ICC) has recommended the issuance of arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and Defense Minister Gallant, as well as Hamas commander in Gaza, Yahya Sinwar. The ICC will now hear evidence to determine if arrest warrants shall be issued.
Singapore: One passenger was killed, and many others injured during an extreme turbulence event on a routine flight between London and Singapore. Singapore Airlines Flight SQ321 experienced substantial turbulence as the long-haul flight neared the coast of Thailand. Following the extreme turbulence, the aircraft made an emergency landing in Thailand. AC: As the turbulence occurred unexpectedly, little warning was given to passengers, causing at least 30 passengers to suffer varying injuries to include a few cases of severe blunt force trauma. This incident did result in one fatality, but it is not clear as to if this occurred as a direct result of trauma due to the kinetic turbulence, or due to an underlying medical issue. The deceased passenger has not yet been identified by the airline.
New Caledonia: Australia and New Zealand have reportedly begun repatriation flights for their citizens located on the former French Colony. Violence continues as France deploys increasing numbers of forces to the region to maintain order.
Democratic Republic of the Congo: Overnight, Congolese forces allegedly halted a coup attempt, arresting possibly two Americans who allegedly planned to support and coordinate the efforts of a local guerrilla group. AC: So far, it’s too soon to tell if this is a legitimate coup attempt, or something else entirely. Two people are unlikely to overthrow anyone singlehandedly, but this would also not be the first time that a spy got caught engaging in espionage. Nor would it be out of the question for the local warlords of the DRC to grab a westerner and fabricate a story to consolidate power. As there are far too many variables and far too few reliable information sources in the region, the truth of this incident is unlikely to come forth for the time being.
-HomeFront-
South Carolina: The South Carolina Port Authority has announced that yesterday’s software issue has been resolved, and all terminals are resuming operations. No further details have been provided as to the specific cause of this outage.
Washington D.C. – H.R. 8445 has been introduced in Congress. This bill would amend U.S. Title 38 and the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act to expand eligibility of all military servicemember benefits to any American citizen serving in the Israeli Defense Forces. Per the text of the bill as provided by the bill’s sponsor, “the service of a citizen of the United States in the Israeli Defense Forces shall be treated in the same manner as service in the uniformed services.”. AC: This appears to be the first and only time (at least in U.S. history) whereby a nation is considering granting military servicemember benefits to those in the military service of a foreign nation. As such, it’s not certain how this situation will develop or if other factors such as the United States Uniform Code of Military Justice, Law of Armed Conflict, Rules of Engagement, or other legalities will apply to these select IDF soldiers as well.

Analyst Comments: As the discrepancies with the official Iranian helicopter crash story begin to mount, it is important to consider the commonality of the events that took place to result in this disaster. On the one hand, Iranian officials revealing that two additional aircraft were involved makes sense…but prompts the question of how the only aircraft with the President onboard could be the one that crashed, and the other two aircraft had no idea anything happened at all, as insinuated by Iranian media. Putting together the timeline of events is challenging, and results in any number of scenarios or theories as to how this incident could have occurred. It’s possible for one aircraft out of three to become separated from the others. It’s also possible for the other two aircraft to have departed several minutes before or after the President’s helicopter, those crucial minutes resulting in tragedy. Though completely speculative considering the lack of data available, it also wouldn’t be unheard of for a VIP to delay a departure, personally urging the other two aircraft (also carrying VIPs) to head back with the intent of catching up en route. Alternatively, the President could have been late for another meeting and flew ahead of the other two, with disastrous results. It is also possible that extreme weather conditions restricted visibility to the point that the formation broke up, with each pilot managing their own aircraft out of the valley. This is not entirely uncommon, but also causes additional questions to arise, such as how or why the two additional aircraft did not hear any radio distress calls or note any transponder data.
Nonetheless, considering all factors (none of which are completely definitive by any means) the oddity of losing the most important aircraft in a formation of three does increase the likelihood of either nefarious action or a more serious (and embarrassing for Iran) accident. As with most aviation incidents, the nuts and bolts of how tragedy strikes is a long chain of causation, with sometimes hundreds of events lining up perfectly for a disaster to occur. Considering the current international tensions, either a consolidation of power, foreign assassination, mechanical failure, sheer ignorance, incompetence, or bad luck…any one of these theories likely means the same for Iran’s future. More tension via the inevitable election season woes along with tamping down international embarrassment, and Iran always trying to save face in the international arena. Whatever the cause of this accident, most nations around the world seem to implicitly blame either the United States or Israel for the crash. If this accident was indeed purely an accident, the diplomatic complexities of Iran trying to save face in the wake of ‘the attack than never was’ probably will cause domestic problems for the Ayatollah as well.
Regarding the recent activities at the Hague, the recent events involving potential arrest warrants probably don’t mean much at all in the long run. However, the second order effects and responses to this development are worthy of note. As a reminder, 12 Republican Senators signed a letter directed to the ICC’s lead prosecutor on April 24th. This letter contained openly threatening language, stating “If you issue a warrant for the arrest of the Israeli leadership, we will interpret this not only as a threat to Israel’s sovereignty, but to the sovereignty of the United States.”. The letter also contained threatening language towards the prosecutor personally, to include his family, stating “Target Israel and we will target you. If you move forward with the measures indicated in the report, we will move to end all American support for the ICC, sanction your employees and associates, and bar you and your families from the United States. You have been warned”.
Language such as this is not only openly threatening, but also contradictory. Currently, the charges brought forth to achieve arrest warrants are not with regards to Israeli kinetic targeting practices, but those regarding the deliberate starvation of the Palestinian population in Gaza. Israel has openly admitted to deliberately withholding international food aid, and the United States building a naval logistics hub and continuing to airdrop food is a de facto admission to this deliberate starvation as well. Perhaps most importantly, it is unclear as to how the ICC potentially investigating Israel has any bearing on the national sovereignty of the United States as directly stated in the letter. This minor footnote may be a tacit admission of a reality that the American people are not yet ready to rationalize.

✨New item!✨ Regalia of the Rhinoceros Armor (half plate), very rare (requires attunement by a barbarian)
You have a +1 bonus to AC while wearing this armor. As an action you can touch a creature and expend one use of your rage to neutralize all poisons affecting it.
When you enter a rage, or once as a bonus action while you're raging, you can designate a 30-foot-radius on the battlefield as your territory for the duration of your rage. Within this territory your walking speed increases by 10 feet and, if you move at least 10 feet in a straight line toward a target right before making a melee weapon attack against it, your attack deals an extra 1d6 piercing damage. Additionally, as a reaction while within the radius, when a creature enters your territory, you can move up to your movement speed towards that creature and make one melee weapon attack against it.
Curse. Every day at dawn your skin takes on a mottled gray appearance. The only thing that seems to temporarily alleviate this condition is if you spend at least 10 minutes in a mud bath, returning your skin to normal until the next dawn.
The power of the rhinoceros is both the fearsome might to defend their territory and the mythical ability to cure poison with their horn. - 🖌🎨 Like our work? 🛡 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗺! Armor of the Stone Citadel
Armor (plate), legendary (requires attunement) ___ This armor is made of stone and reduces the wearer's speed by 10 feet unless the wearer has a Strength score equal to or higher than 17, instead of 15. Castle-like crenellations run along the tops of the armor's various pieces. While wearing the armor, you can't be petrified, and you have a damage threshold of 10. In addition, if you are blocking a friendly creature enough to grant it half cover against an attack or hostile effect, that creature instead has three-quarters cover against it. 𝙇𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘾𝙞𝙩𝙖𝙙𝙚𝙡. While wearing the armor, you can use an action to transform into a Huge stone tower. The tower is a 15-foot-square that's 30 feet tall, centered on you. It resembles your head and upper torso, complete with a pair of powerful stone arms. If there isn't space for the tower, you don't transform, and the action (but not the use of this property) is wasted. Your equipment merges into this form when you transform and has no effect for the duration. For the duration, you use your normal senses, but your speed is reduced to 0. While in this form, you gain 100 temporary hit points and have an AC of 18, your damage threshold increases to 20, and you can't be moved or knocked prone. You are also immune to any spell or effect that would alter your form. You remain in this form for up to 8 hours, at which point you return to your normal form. You return to your normal form early if you lose all of these temporary hit points or if you end the effect using an action. While in this form, you can't cast spells, and your normal attacks are replaced by unarmed strikes using your massive stone fists. These unarmed strikes have a reach of 30 feet and deal 4d8 bludgeoning damage on a hit. You can make two unarmed strike attacks on each of your turns when you take the Attack action, even if you can normally make more. Alternatively, you can use an action to hurl a boulder from your arm. The boulder is a ranged weapon attack with a normal range of 60 feet and a long range of 180 feet. On a hit, it deals 6d8 bludgeoning damage. You are... ...Continued in the comment below! ___ ✨ Patrons get huge perks! The universe and our ancestors have a way of delivering messages that we need to hear, read, and witness. That’s why I find myself offering countless flowers in tribute to Daniel Sotomayor. His legacy in Chicago serves as a powerful reminder that the impact of the AIDS Crisis extended far beyond the coastal epicenters of New York City and San Francisco.
I went back to Victor Salvo’s essay titled “Daniel Sotomayor: Chicago, Illinois August 30, 1958 – February 5, 1992,” which is part of the Art AIDS America Chicago exhibition book. This exhibition documents the impact of HIV/AIDS on the national art space. I’ll give you all the cliff notes to this essay, which continues to inspire my own political advocacy work.
Tumblr media
Daniel Sotomayor was not only the first openly gay and nationally recognized political cartoonist but also a co-founder of the Chicago Chapter of the AIDS Coalition to Unleash Power (ACT UP). Growing up in the Humboldt Park Neighborhood in Chicago, Daniel’s heritage was a mix of Mexican and Puerto Rican descent. In the four years following his HIV diagnosis in 1987, Daniel passionately fought against the despair of the AIDS crisis until his passing on February 5, 1992.
He shouldered the responsibility of challenging not just the political establishment but also the church, his employers, fellow HIV/AIDS activists, and even friends. By 1991, Daniel had produced 147 political cartoons that addressed both current events and personal struggles. His commitment to truth-telling not only stirred controversy but also laid the foundation for the legacy we honor today.
Tumblr media
Despite facing termination from Gay Chicago Magazine and later Windy City Times due to his outspoken activism, Daniel prioritized urgent action amid the ticking clock of HIV and the community’s mounting death toll. His life’s work stands as a testament to what political accountability should entail for leaders entrusted with our protection.
Daniel’s activism was bold. He participated in protests against the Chicago Transit Authority’s refusal to display safe sex messaging and was part of national AIDS actions demanding equal healthcare. His confrontation with then-Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley at the Impact Gala in 1991, where he held a banner demanding truth about AIDS, exemplifies his unwavering courage.
Tumblr media
As I reflect on Daniel’s life, I am reminded of the ongoing struggle for justice in today’s crises, like the Overdose Crisis. The slow response of political leaders to adopt proven harm reduction strategies echoes past battles fought during the AIDS crisis.
Every day, I carry the heartbreak and the resilience of figures like Daniel, whose battles have paved the way for our opportunities today. Daniel’s legacy teaches us to keep fighting in dark times. As an advocate, I draw strength from the wisdom of AIDS activism, maintaining optimism in the face of political disappointment, with the belief that our perseverance will bring hope to newer generations.

One Piece Spoilers below
Something that’s really funny to me is that the Straw Hats are speed running being pirates, which I’ve talked about before, but it gets even funnier when look at it from the perspective of the World Government. Like, one day you get told that a random guy in a straw hat took down Buggy, Don Krieg, and Arlong, which gained the highest bounty in the East Blue, 30 million Berries. Which you think is crazy, but whatever, that just puts him on Smokers radar and nobody gets past Smoker, right? Wrong, cause according to Smoker, Dragon showed up and prevented Smoker from taking down straw hat guy. And for a while, that’s it. You don’t hear anymore about him or his crew, which you believe is because of the Grand Line being, well the Grand Line. Smoker calls you up one day and is like, hey, the Straw Hat Pirates, that what they’re called now, defeated Crocodile in Alabasta. To which you suddenly freak out, because know this Luffy kid is a threat, and you can’t have people finding out about his actions. So, the world thinks that Smoker took down Crocodile and that Luffy played a tiny part in that. In accordance, his bounty is now 100 million Berries. And then him and his crew vanish off the face of the earth, which you take to as a relief. Then Kuzan calls, informing you that the Straw Hats pulled up to Long Ring Long Land with Nico Robin in tow, he didn’t catch them, but that they’re most likely heading to Water 7. Great. Well, at least Lucci and co. are already at Water 7, so they just capture Robin, head to Enies Lobby, and… what? They did what? Scratch that, the Straw Hats broke into Enies Lobby, saved Robin, and escaped the Buster Call to boot. Increase the bounty, 300 million Berries! Poof, Luffy and crew are once again the wind, and you think they might ended up encountering Moria, so you send Kuma to warn him, as well as be there in case Moria washes up. Which he does, but so does Kuma, but at least it wasn’t public like Crocodiles. And besides, you have more pressing matters, what with the upcoming execution of one Portgas D. Ace and all the Supernovas arriving at Sabbody at the same time. Then that idiot punched a World Noble, because of course he did. So Kizaru rolls up, as does Sentomaru and some Pascifta, and the Straw Hats were totally defea… Kuma sent them away? Oh. Well, that’s basically a defeat, right? Huh? Luffy is were? Impel Down? Trying to free Ace, who’s apparently his brother? Ah, good ol’ Mellegan, I knew we could count on him to take down Luffy. Pardon me? Luffy escaped? With who? Crocodile, Mr. 1, Mr. 3, Ivonkva, Inzuma, Buggy, Jinbei, and a ton of prisoners? Gosh darn it all, I’m busy enough as it is! All right, let’s just focus on killing Ace and… GARP IT’S YOUR OWN DAMM FAMILY AGAIN! Fucking hell, Luffy just dropped out of the sky, caused so much trouble, and then vanished for two years, but at least he’s gone…he just showed up? Did we capture him? No?!?! What do you mean no?!?! Well, where the hell are they?!?! (Worth noting that Luffy’s bounty went from 300 to 400 million Berries during this time, and that Dragon was his father, which is probably why Luffy was saved by him all the way back in the East Blue.) At which point, the Straw Hats proceed to wreck havoc at Punk Hazard, according to Smoker, defeat Doflamingo, giving Luffy another bounty increase to 500 million Berries, pull another disappearing act, during which they give Big Mom a headache, which you decide warrants a bounty raise to 1.5 billion Berries, and then they hop their way into Wano, in which you have no power. But you do have spies, which inform you that they, along with their allies, dropped both Big Mom and Kaido. Because of course they did. So, you slap a bounty of 3 billion Berries on Luffys head, and the last you heard, he was gallivanting in Egghead, with Kizaru, Saturn, and a bunch of marines heading there to take down Vegapunk. Oh dear.
Like, Luffy and co. should not be where they are now, but they are and they’re pretty powerful as well.

The powerful witch Baba Yaga fortunately rarely turns her attention upon the world, but where she does her influence is mighty. Her agents herald her arrival, in particular the three horsemen that she has bound to different times of day. The riders tend to change each time she appears, either because the previous ones finished their term of service to the witch, or because of their destruction. In either case, the witch always has new beings she can appoint into her service, taken from one of a hundred worlds she has influence upon.
Each rider is bound to a certain time of day, vanishing when the time ticks over past their appointed hours. Whether they travel to another plane, to another place upon the world where the time is correct for their presence, or even if they cease to exist entirely until brought forth again is unknown, and no one seems keen to answer the question. Bright Day is the rider for the morning, active from dawn to mid-day, Red Sun rules mid-day to sunset, and Black Night rules from sunset to sunrise.
These stats represent the weakest the riders may be; if a creature below this level agrees to become the witch's rider, they are granted these abilities. More powerful creatures may make the agreement, in which case they would gain the rider's Temporal Strike and Peerless Rider abilities, the ability to conjure phantom steeds, and any of a specific rider's traits. Even a PC may theoretically make this deal, though doing so likely removes them from the game unless the rest of the party is fine with working around their temporal restrictions and duties to Baba Yaga.

Baba Yaga may not be an Icon in your particular setting, but she's a being with the power to rival and even dwarf many Icons. Her attention is simply spread so far that she may have no presence in your setting, aside from the occasional visit. She simply doesn't spend enough time around to develop the connections and influence that an Icon has, but when she does appear all the Icons respect her power and act accordingly. Some may oppose her, others attempt to placate her, but she has no innate respect for any Icons and so will do as she pleases unless forced to back down. Her agents act the same, as the horsemen will ignore the laws and expectations of the world to fulfill their Mistress' demands, no matter who it puts them at odds with.

Real quick because I didnt realise I had anime NYC tokens, I could redeem a guaranteed Dorm card for 100 coins or I could redeem a 10 key...
Im not sure should I use it on trying to break a Dorm card or use it to help increase my pulls om glorious masq, Ive been slowly pulling everyday with 10 paid gems due to it equaling to 3 pulls a day for 30 gems and right now im on 173 pity, on the day that its finally gone I would have exactly 180 due to getting a key from the unified exam store, I currently have 150 free gems and about 1000 paid gems so I could just pull to get that last 20 but I feel using paid gems to pull is very wasted due to the value you get from bundles. I'm pulling to get more copies of Masq Idia (lvl 85 n trying to get meta cosmic basic team) and I already have 1 copy of Azul and Mall. BUT for Dorms most of them aren't that high level, the only one whos max is Floyd who got to 100 when I was pulling for Mall. The only Dorm I dont have is Ruggie but he's not that useful meta wise so I dont mind waiting a little longer for him to spook me but for meta SSRs I cant decide if I want to level them over Masq T-T I'll list them their levels so you can help me decide which key should I get
Lvl 80 : Cater, Deuce, Leona
Lvl 85: Jamil, Kalim, Vil, Rook, Idia, Ortho
Lvl 90: Ace, Riddle, Azul, Epel
Lvl 95: Trey, Jack, Jade
Lvl 100: Floyd
So Im not sure if I should choose Masq Idia over upgrading one of these Dorm cards :/
Thank you for taking the time to read this lengthy ask!
Hello!
While I agree that it's better to boost event cards over dorm cards, I also agree that you're probably better off saving your paid gems for future bundles. For instance, New Years and anniversary are coming soon in EN, and they have some of the good bundles for paid gems (and with 1000 paid gems, you'll be able to afford the most expensive bundle for both events since they typically cost 490 paid gems). The New Year event with Ruggie and Sebek also had a paid SSR key that allowed you to get either Ruggie or Sebek at random, so if EN carries that over, and you want either of them, all the more you'd want to save your paid gems.
So I'd say go for LB-ing a Dorm card. If you really want to think about meta, my opinion would be:
Dorm Trey -> The one I'd recommend the most. He's at the 3rd limit break. He'd be really useful come MLB, especially when EN gets the MLB stat boost eventually.
Dorm Riddle, Rook, and Ortho -> Second most recommended because further LB means higher attack/power. Personally, I'd say Riddle since he's closer to MLB than Rook and Ortho, but that's up to you.
Dorm Leona -> Third recommended. I don't know how your Water Basic is like, but if you struggle in that, getting Leona to LB would be really useful.
Dorm Azul and Idia -> Fourth recommended. Always great to have Azul's attack/power and heal boosted or Idia's HP raised further, but unless you're struggling hard in defense tests, they're cards that can always be duped in banners eventually. Their levels are pretty good as they are.
Dorm Jade -> Fifth recommended. I only recommend just so both tweels are Lv.100. xD

Protean, Alengos
Tumblr media
“Keeper of the corrupted coppice” © Timi Honkanen, accessed at his ArtStation here
[Our next protean is inspired by my annual teaching my students about ecological succession, and the subsequent explanation that the reality isn’t nearly as neat as the textbook version. I like to think that these guys are why there’s always potatoes in European fantasy settings hundred or even thousands of years before the Columbian Interchange (I’m looking at you, Tolkien.
As a reminder, all of these protean species have names that are anagrams of someone thematically related. Can you guess who “anelgos” is?]
Protean, Alengos CR 6 CN Outsider (extraplanar) This creature has a serpentine lower body and a humanoid torso, and appears to be composed of leaves woven together. Its head bears a crest of foliage, and its face is radially symmetrical, like a closed bud. Its hands are thick pincers, from which structures like the interior of a flower emerge.
An alengos is the protean of ecological succession. As new land is created and fields are left to go fallow, they are colonized by plants. Usually, this occurs in a somewhat predictable, stepwise fashion, but alengoses are perfectly happy to mess with the order of operations by magical and mundane means. Alengoses often seed plant species onto new islands or new continents, and they were fundamental in the creation of the Spawning Stone in the Maelstrom.
Alengoses are more likely to fight on the ground than many other species of protean, as their signature ability, the entangling aura, only functions when they touch a solid surface. Plants spring to life and grab at anyone in the area, except for other chaotic outsiders and plant creatures. An alengos will typically treat entangled enemies as lower priorities while it lobs caustic pollen at those that are not entangled, or merely crushes them to death in its coils. In the wake of a combat, an alengos will often spend some time making sure that dead bodies are broken up into suitable mulch to accelerate decomposition and increase nutrient uptake.
The influence of an alengos can be a boon or a bane to mortal farmers, loggers and other people who work regularly with plants. If properly mollified, or if the whim strikes them, an alengos can create a miraculous crop, or bring novel and useful plant species to the attention of people. On the other hand, their favorite plants are typically considered to be weeds, and their transplantations are as likely to be invasive as they are beneficial. The alengos itself rarely cares one way or the other, preferring the riot of life over any consequence their actions might cause in the long term.

Entangling Aura (Su) An alengos radiates difficult terrain in a 20 foot aura whenever it touches the ground. Creatures in the area must succeed a DC 16 Reflex save or be entangled and unable to move from their square for 1 round. Creatures with the plant type and the chaotic subtype are immune to this effect. The save DC is Charisma based. Floronic (Ex) An alengos receives a +4 racial bonus on all saving throws against mind-influencing effects, paralysis, poison, sleep and stunning effects. Pollen Puff (Su) As a standard action, an alengos can throw a ball of magical pollen. Treat this as a ranged touch attack with a range of 40 feet and no range increment. A creature struck either takes 3d6 points of damage or heals 3d6 points of damage, as the alengos chooses, modified by the alengos’ Charisma modifier. An alengos can use this ability a number of times a day equal to 3 plus its Charisma modifier.
