more bucktommy the will talk (they're getting there, the conversation went a bit off track lol) - it might be done this week, and then I can focus on the smut, and the buddie fics, and I have a new bucktommy idea inspired by that video of lou barbecuing with his shirt off that I sooo wanna write🙈

“Well, yeah, of course.” Buck answers easily, his heartbeat speeding up. He’s a little anxious about putting too much pressure, too many expectations out there, but he also knows that even if he did, they’d get back on track, they’d be fine. And besides, Tommy’s smiling, he doesn’t seem freaked out at all. And that’s after Buck brought up children. But if they’re moving forward with their relationship, they need to know what they want out of life. It seems reasonable to have this conversation this early on.
“Good.” he responds, grinning widely. “Now I won't have to stress about your answer when I ask.” he adds, and Buck feels himself blush, butterflies in his stomach going wild. Oh. Oh. This is- this is real. They’re talking about it, and maybe someday soon- he might marry this man. He will marry this man. Tommy wants him forever. Tommy wants him. Tommy wants to marry him and have children with him, and just be with him. Sometimes it’s still so shocking to Buck that someone as great and amazing as Tommy wants him, but he does. Buck’s not sure he remembers the last time he felt this wanted.
“How- how do you know I won’t ask first?” Buck asks, moving his head slightly closer to Tommy, just enough to look into his beautiful blue eyes. It feels surreal, talking about this, when they only dated for a few months, but it also feels… right. It feels like they’re on the right track to get there one day.

“So,” Buck says, blinking up at Tommy. He still hasn’t gotten over how good that feels– looking up at his partner. Being with someone whose warm, protective hand settles on the small of his back and nearly spans the distance between his hips. Someone whose big, strong arms envelop him when they hug, someone who can tuck Buck into his chest almost effortlessly. Someone who makes him feel grounded, protected, safe. In more ways than one.
“So,” Tommy returns the word, accompanying it with a warm smile, the kind that reaches all the way to his eyes and makes them sparkle as he looks down at Buck.
“You met my parents,” Buck says with a laugh, because really– how could he not? It’s a little ridiculous, now that he’s saying it out loud. “On our third date.”
Tommy nods, leaning against the wall outside of Buck’s front door. “Mhmmm,” he hums, watching Buck with a fond smile as he fumbles for his keys. “Sure did.”
It takes a minute, but Buck finally manages to get his keys out of his pocket and into the lock. Tommy is nothing but patience and fondness, watching him with a sparkle in his eye that makes Buck feel warm all over. When he finally gets the door open, Buck’s chest swells as Tommy’s big hand comes out to hold the door open for him, nodding for him to head inside first.
That’s a first. Buck’s stomach flips, a warm, pleasant feeling skating across his skin as he pulls his key from the lock and steps inside. It’s the same feeling he had on their first date when Tommy pulled out his chair before he sat down. The same one he had the first time Tommy texted him Be safe at the start of a shift.
A smile tugs at his lips as Tommy follows him into his apartment and the door clicks shut behind him. There’s something so simple about it, something so mundane and normal and domestic that it makes Buck’s head spin and his heart pound against his ribcage in the very best way. He wants this again. And again, and again, and again. Wants to come home with Tommy. Come home to Tommy. Wants the door to close behind them, wants to leave the world outside and exist only in this world here, in the one with the warm glow of the kitchen lights casting shadows on Tommy’s face as he toes his shoes off beneath the bike that hangs on Buck’s wall. The one where he pulls two beers out of the fridge and sets them on the counter, and Tommy opens them wordlessly, the silence comfortable as it stretches between them. The one where the necks of their bottles clink and their knuckles brush and Buck’s skin hums and his heart sings from just one small taste of Tommy’s skin against his.
Buck’s the one to break the easy, comfortable silence. He does it with a small laugh, just shy of a giggle, as he thinks back to the look on his mother’s face when he walked into Chim’s hospital room with Tommy by his side and she connected the dots. “You were covered in soot.”
“Wasn’t the only one,” Tommy points out, grinning against the lip of his beer bottle as he takes another sip.

bucktommy ficlet. had a convo about love. had some feelings. gave them to buck. enjoy~
The entire loft is soaked in the hazy blue light of pre-morning. Buck can hear the mechanical thrum of garbage collectors, a handful of singing birds, quiet but steady breathing. His body is sore, from work and then from Tommy, a satisfying reminder of a yesterday well spent. Everything is warm and soft like Saturday morning, even though he's fairly sure it's Tuesday.
The clock on his bedside table tells him it's much too early to get up for a Tuesday, so he turns over to get comfortable and ends up face to face with Tommy's sleep-slacked expression.
Buck watches him in that way that's only creepy if you're not in love. Takes note of his eyelashes resting against the tops of his cheeks, his lips shadowed by the slant of his nose, how the dawning daylight catches on the angles of his face. He wants to touch, but not enough to disturb the serenity of sleep on his boyfriend's face.
Eddie tells him he says that a lot. My boyfriend. "We all know his name," Eddie says, tone harsh but a creeping smirk giving away the joke.
When Buck brought it up with Dr. Copeland, she asked him why he thinks he says it so much, but it was towards the end of their session so they didn't really get into it. Buck thinks it's probably something to do with his self-image problems, or maybe his abandonment issues? Dr. Copeland's better with the answers than he is.
Calling him Tommy is fine, but saying my boyfriend says my meatless lasagna needs more starch just reminds Buck that Tommy's his and, even more novel, Buck is Tommy's.
Buck likes being Tommy's boyfriend.
Tommy's boyfriend knows Tommy's coffee order, and drops it off along with a savory treat for him at the start of a long shift. Tommy's boyfriend always knows exactly where Tommy left his blue-light glasses and grabs them before they head to bed so Tommy can read another chapter of the cheesy historical fiction novel on his tablet. Tommy's boyfriend is the one Tommy goes to after a hard shift, to talk to or hug or just sit in the same room with until the rest of the world is less heavy.
As Tommy's boyfriend, Buck is still all the things he was before--firefighter, brother, friend--but knowing there's someone who trusts him enough to sleep beside him and let him stare at their face like a creeper in the early hours of the morning--there's this unfathomable freedom to it.
It's like--if Tommy loves him, he must be worthy of it. It's a truth and a prophecy, self-fulfilling. It's this ever-turning cycle that bolsters Buck to be the best version of himself, and none of it feels like work because it's all tangled up with joy.
"How long have you been staring at me?"
Buck startles out of his internal monologue to find Tommy's left eye open. The right is buried in his pillow along with the lifted corner of his mouth.
"Probably a little too long," Buck admits, staring fixedly at that corner of Tommy's mouth.
Tommy's lips part to release a sigh before settling into a smile. "Evan. Go back to sleep."
"In a minute."
Tommy shifts closer on the pillow, his nose nudging Buck's, his morning breath awful and his eyes so close Buck thinks their eyelashes might tangle. "You worked a 24-hour shift yesterday. You need to sleep. You can stare at me tomorrow."
"Promise?"
Tommy brushes their lips together. "Promise."
Buck finds Tommy's hand between them and laces their fingers together. "Alright," he says, settling back into the mattress and letting his eyes shut as he brings their hands to his sternum. "Tomorrow."

whisper to me baby (tell me what you want) buck and tommy have been dating for a few weeks and they haven't had sex. and then...they do. 4,659 words ao3 link
Pressed up against the wall in his apartment, he feels alive. He moans into Tommy’s mouth when he rocks their hips together with purpose. He slides his hands through the short hairs at the base of Tommy’s skull and moans again when Tommy’s hands slide up his shirt, pressing into his back. He feels like an exposed wire, each movement so exciting and new that his body feels extra sensitive, earning a chuckle out of Tommy, who pulls back just a little. Buck chases his lips, making him laugh again. Buck feels obsessed. He wants to drink down every little huff and breath and laugh that spills from Tommy’s lips.
“You know, we don’t have to do anything you don’t want, right, Evan? I know this is all new to you.”
He hasn’t told Tommy to call him Buck, yet. For some reason, it feels good to have some kind of delineation, to be Buck to everyone else in the world, and just Evan here with Tommy. He hasn’t said, but he feels a bit exposed with the way Tommy’s picked up on it.
“I—Yeah, I know,” Buck says, leaning in for a kiss again, getting lost in it for a moment, pulling away. “But I—I want to do everything with you, Tommy.”
Tommy raises an eyebrow, breathing out a quiet laugh. “Everything?”
“Well,” Buck ducks his head, blushing. God, he hasn’t felt this off his game in ages. It’s exhilarating. “Maybe not everything. But, you know, we can, uh, move this into the bedroom. If you—if you want.”
Tommy blinks and looks around as if suddenly remembering that they’d barely made it into the apartment before he’d pushed Buck up against the wall, and grins.
“Lead the way,” He says, his voice smooth and deep. Buck’s stomach swoops.

I completely agree with you in that there are many bad faith interpretations of tommy and buck and tommy’s relationship. I don’t know if this one I’m about to share would necessarily be a bad faith interpretation but I’d like your take on it. In the scene where buck comes out to eddie, eddie says to buck “this changes nothing between us” and buck responds with something along the lines of “uh good, that’s a relief”. I’ve seen a lot of people interpret buck’s facial expressions as not showing just relief but relief mixed disappointment because a part of buck wanted things to change between them, in the romantic sense, he just doesn’t realize it. I do agree that buck’s expression as he says the words is interesting but I don’t personally think it has anything to do with him harbouring romantic feelings for eddie. for me it felt like one of those moments where you dread the reaction for so long, that when you finally face the thing and open up, even if the other person’s reaction is positive, it takes a minute for you to really internalise it and let yourself believe it.
Another moment that people often talk about from this scene is reaction to buck saying he can’t stop thinking about tommy. People often say eddie’s facial expression shows some sort of disappointment but again, I don’t know if that’s it? again, it is an interesting expression so I get why people would pause and focus for a minute but to me, it reads as eddie searching for a moment to give his honest advice to buck in the scenario.
Anyway, I’d love your thoughts on those particular moments and how you see them. Again, I’m not saying that the interpretations people are making of that scene in relation to buddie are necessarily in bad faith. I know it’s fun to analyze and interpret scenes in ways that you enjoy and I’d never want people to stop doing that. I just feel like Oliver and Tim have been very clear in that they do not want to tell a story where a guy comes out and is in love with his best friend and if buck was truly disappointed in hearing eddie say nothing’s going to change between them post buck’s coming out, that would be a quite bold contradiction.
Hi anon!
I'm not sure if you actually meant to send this to me because I'm kind of the exact opposite of a person who engages in the practice of reverse-engineering actors' faces to find deep secret meanings that doesn't actually exist in the script. I think it's a slippery slop of a fan practice where if you go "haha he looks jealous here" and want to make it gay in your fantasy world and are capable of compartmentalizing that from the actual text, it's great! If you look at it like it's subtext that is meant to one day come to surface, as some sort of proof that this is not the actual story, you're either too deep in your world that you treat these characters like they have agencies and thoughts and feelings and are not, yknow, fictional - or that actors are making the conscious choice to layer their performances with breadcrumbs for a plot that doesn't exist at the time.
I've seen all these arguments with almost every scene this season. Eddie's face when Tommy enters the bachelor party. Buck's face when Bobby says Tommy is good for him. Bobby's face when he says Tommy is good for Buck. Eddie's smile when they enter the hospital room. Most of these are insignificant and the others have in-text explanation (Yeah, Bobby smiles weirdly in that scene. Guess what, he's kind of planning to kill himself). And like I said, if people want to read these in a pro-Buddie sense and go do fandom stuff with it, that's great. But we all know this fandom is taken over by the question of "will Buck and Eddie happen?" so everyone who's not even doing this in bad faith (I don't think all do) are looking at it in "does this support canon romantic Buddie?" lenses. So much of shipping Buddie is about speculating for the next episode, next season, next whatever that I think it's so easy to find yourself on that slippery slop where you fit every shot, face, editing choice to your interpretation. There's also the sunk cost fallacy at play here - once you do it for so long, it's hard to give up on the belief that it'll happen.
I think both Oliver and Ryan great actors - and that scene is one of my favorites in the season - but no, I don't think there's more to their faces than what they're given to play. Which is as all of them mentioned a billion times, a scene of a guy nervously coming out as queer to his best friend and receiving support. If I'm wrong and the rest of this fandom is right and the production/writers/showrunners are actually fully married to the idea of canon romantic Buddie but The Powers That Be are keeping gay Eddie in the closet as if he's a real person and they're the evil step-mother, and come S10 Buck realizes he's been in love with his bff all along, then yeah in-text, that would recontextualize all their performances. It still wouldn't change what the writers' intention has been with the text as it exists today or be proof that Oliver and Ryan are making acting choices for a hypothetical future SL.

Hello everyone! I’ve now written another fic, even though my brain is so tired.
And I write this as a gift for two people. First, @babygirl-diaz . They’ve been holding up the omega Tommy tag almost single handedly. Second, the nonnie in my ask box who has been asking about my a/b/o headcanons but I haven’t had a coherent thought to type them out, so I wrote a fic instead. Stay patient with me, nonnie.
Mind the tags! It’s only rated teen and up and no archive warnings apply, but check additional tags for squicks.
Love you guys!

The more I see some weird and out of reach and some frankly disgusting takes on Buck and Tommy’s relationship the more I realize that Bucktommy is a ship for people with good taste (and in some ways for GA because obviously they wouldn’t have included their scene if GA wasn’t welcoming to BT)
It’s for sane people who can take a joke, who realize that at the beginning of the relationship people don’t know everything about each other (I’m looking at those who use the “your father is alive” line as means to discredit Tommy). Who know that if you don’t smile and look at someone with heart eyes all the time, it doesn’t mean that you’re not into that someone. People experience different emotions, surprise.
It’s for people who actually realize that these are two fictional characters with their own personalities and likes and dislikes. 💁‍♀️
And guess what, they’re are ✨thriving✨

I was just thinking at work and thought about buck telling tommy about the will (this is gonna get there i promise lol and I think the sperm donor thing too bc this is bucktommy endgame fic and buck wants it all out there haha)
ngl im lowkey annoyed bc I had a whole convo in my head and it was so good, but couldn't write it down and forgot half of it, but I think it came back to me more or less haha

In Buck's defense, he doesn’t mean to ask this question right then. It just slips out. He's lying in the big, strong arms of his very hot, amazing boyfriend, both sweaty and still breathless. He’s blissed out and fucked out, and so content and still dizzy after a mindblowing orgasm. He doesn’t have a lot of control over his thoughts and words right now. So he surprises even himself when the question flies out of him.
“Do you want to have children?” he asks casually, absentmindedly playing with their intertwined fingers where they're splayed on his chest.
“What?” Tommy asks, surprise and even shock evident in his voice, and only then Buck realizes what he said, and he feels his eyes widen and face starts to burn, and he stares at the ceiling, but feels Tommy’s gaze on the side of his head.
“I- I- I mean, like ever, some day, down the line- not like- I mean, you know, I- I just thought we should talk about it if- if- if it’s going where I hope it’s going- because I- we’ve been together for a while and I hope that- I think I-” he starts rambling and stumbling over his words, panicking just a little bit. Fuck, they’ve been doing so good the past few months, it’s honestly his best relationship he’s been in, probably the longest, too, and now he goes and screws it up by being too much, too soon, too serious-
“Evan.” Tommy’s hand lands on his cheek, and he gently turns Buck’s head towards himself. He meets Tommy’s soft gaze, and relaxes a little instantly. Tommy doesn’t look freaked out, just surprised, but there’s a hint of a smile dancing on his lips.

I hope it is still open for the head cannons for bucktommy because I have been thinking about it and Even wrote a fic about it. My head cannon is that when they meet Buck unconsciously told Tommy that he could call him Evan and didn't realize until Eddie brought it up.
I always open for headcanons especially rn!!! and yes!!!!! I have the same headcanon. For me, if he introduces himself to new people, as we saw with Lucy, he says "Evan Buckley, but you can call me Buck". But with Tommy he felt immediate connection and didn't say anything, even after rescue when he had time to tell Tommy to call him Buck instead as he was complete enamored by hot pilot who made mouth static at the fire chief to help them. So he actually didn't want to tell Tommy to call him Buck, because the way Tommy said "nice to meet you Evan" made Buck absolutely melt. And he didn't think about it before Eddie's "why you didn't correct Tommy?" and Buck just shrugged and said "I didn't feel like it"

SIX SENTENCE SUNDAY
Otherwise known as Shayn writes and shares more than 6 sentences 🤣😅 I was tagged by the gorgeous @sinderellanightwolf
This is from Shovel Talk: Harbor Edition and it’s Lucy’s turn to threaten Buck. (This is just set up but seriously this fic is driving me crazy in all the best ways)
Open tag btw cuz I’m sleepy and honestly have no idea who to tag at the moment 🙃
‘She was only apart of the 118 for a few weeks before she got hurt and then transferred to Harbor but in the time she was there she got to see many versions of Evan Buckley.
Lucy’d saw his recklessness, his love and protectiveness of his family, she saw the way he lit up around kids and how he’d bounce around like the golden retriever Hen was always accused him of being.
What she’d never seen before was how settled Evan Buckley was when he came to see Tommy at work. He was the polar opposite of everything she’d ever experienced as his work partner and she had to admit that this version of him even had her endeared.
But it wasn’t just Buck that seemed to be more settled and happy, Tommy was just as smitten. She could’ve sworn that she heard him humming once in the break room but as soon as the guy saw she was walking in it had stopped.’

Seven Sentence Sunday
Tagged by @tizniz
Eddie broke through the trees with a proud gait in his step as he made a beeline for Buck. The dead rabbit in his mouth swung with each passing strut and he stepped over Buck as the fireflies dispersed. Buck sneezed as the lingering magic fizzled in his nose and he rolled onto his front as Eddie circled around him.  Eddie huffed out a noise as he dropped the rabbit in front of Buck, his tongue lulling out as bursts of steam fell from his mouth, and Buck barely sniffed the rabbit before he ate the whole thing.  Eddie pranced around him, pleased with himself, and Buck heard Hen groan.  “You think they’ll finally—” Maddie shushed her.
