Hey, sorry to bother u-

Just wanted to let u know that xvials isn’t really a proship. Idk why the person who popularized it said that but pretty much every xvials shipper I’ve seen or talked to doesn’t like proshippers in the first place much less want to be considered one-

And the only reason I can see it being possibly considered proship is because of the idea that xgaster is considered a version of ink’s dad?? Which doesn’t make sense if you look at how ink treats xgaster (he treats him as a friend, not a father figure) and even still gaster isn’t even always considered sans’s dad in every universe?? It’s simply a fan-theory that got incredibly popularized, it’s not canon so not every au is going to have gaster as sans’s dad. Even in Xtale not every timeline had xgaster as cross and papyrus’s dad.

So I genuinely don’t get why it is considered a proship to some ppl???

(Btw u don’t gotta answer or change your opinion on it, that isn’t my goal- I’m just rambling cuz it’s been on my mind since u including xvials shippers in your dni. Not that I really care, it just confuses me cuz some of my friends are xvials shippers and I’ve never really seen an issue with it-)

im gonna be real simple with this:

is underswap papyrus x underfell sans a proship. yes? great glad we got that covered. because dating your brother from another universe is gross. yay.

xgaster calls cross his son multiple times. in fact, Jakei made a comic where he said ‘it’s almost like you’re my biological sons’. adoptive family members are still family (otherwise that would mean you could justify chara x asriel). this isn’t a timeline x specific thing either, because xgaster continues referring to cross and xpapyrus this way even after timeline x ends. im fact, the comic where xgaster refers to cross and papyrus as his biological sons, takes place AFTER timeline x ended!!!!

while prior to timeline x, xgaster wouldn’t consider sans a son, post-timeline x, xgaster does. and that has stuck beyond that timeline. and will not change.

as well as how ink refers to two gasters as his father. dating an alternate version of your fucking dad is weird and gross, even if it’s not biological.

gaster x sans isn’t a proship. im not stupid, I’ve been here long enough to know that. ship whatever. but when a gaster in a universe explicitly refers to a sans as his son, which he raised from presumably ~5 years old, you don’t ship him with an alternate version of his son.

tldr if you would walk down the fucking wedding aisle with an alternate version of your son that you raised as your own from childhood, i want you to. maybe not lmao…

and even if jakei and Comyet both said “well actually…” then cool. fucking fine whatever. it’s still in my dni, because it makes me uncomfortable. deeply so. please don’t further that discomfort, im sorry please don’t talk about this again loll

Jason is probaly the most relatable character in hoo for me like, I was never the ‘problem kid’. I always had a lot of pressure to be perfect. The smartest, prettiest, the one who gets things done. People always expect so much from Jason.

Does it bug anybody else how people seem to consider Ed and Stede to be old? I mean, they’re not kids, but Taika and Rhys are in their 40s. They aren’t ‘old men’. They’re at the beginning part of what most people would consider to be middle aged.

And maybe this is just a me thing, since I’m not that much younger than them, as I approach my 42nd birthday next week, but I’m not old. I mean, I’m not a kid, but I barely even feel like an adult most days.

And yes, I do know that for a pirate in those days, 48 or so would have been considered ancient. I know the real Blackbeard died in his mid to late 30s and Stede Bonnet at 30. But that’s reality, and OFMD is not supposed to resemble reality. If it did, it would be a very different show.

Anyway, I’m not having a go here, and maybe to younger fans they really do look like two decrepit, ancient, old men, or maybe people are just joking around, but more likely this just seems a bit like a byproduct of the film and TV industry’s obsession with youth. I think people are surprised (not in a bad way, just pleasantly surprised) to see people not in their 20s depicted as being in love, and having sex, and all those things that we’ve been indirectly told for years can only happen up to a certain age. And then to see it in a queer romance too, that just makes it stand out all the more, and compared to a lot of the other media people see, these characters do seem older. Because they are.

So I think what I’m saying isn’t, “Hey, stop calling them old!”, which I guess you’re welcome to do if you really must, it’s more something along the lines of, “It shouldn’t be unusual to see these kinds of relationships, and if it was more normalised then maybe people wouldn’t think they were old.”

But it’s also to remind people that calling them old perpetuates that idea that romance in your 40s and beyond is unusual, and that’s not a good thing to be telling people, even by accident.
