from the almost 32 year old butch dyke who has been getting called both of those things my whole life, i just wanted to say that if you feel you are or want to be a butch dyke, you are one. it doesn't matter. cis, trans, gender non conforming, whatever else, if you say you're butch, you're butch.

transfemme butch dykes are not obligated to perform womanhood in any way for you, if we are women. transfemme butch lesbians are butches no matter how masculine, no matter if we take HRT or not, no matter how we dress or if we identify as men in some way. transmasc butches are part of the butch & lesbian communities if they say they are. nothing about being transmasculine means you are not a butch dyke. transmasculinity does not disqualify you from lesbianism, sapphicism, or being a butch or dyke. transfeminine and transmasculine dykes have been a part of the lesbian community since the beginning.

genderqueer, non binary, agender, abinary, two-spirit, bigender, multigender, and "other" gender butches are butch dykes. nothing about being part of a "third" or "other" gender disqualifies anyone from being a butch dyke. the butch community has historically been full of people with unique and different experiences with gender. many butch dykes feel they experience multiple genders. many feel they experience no gender at all. many have fluctuating experiences with gender.

intersex butches are butch dykes. it does not matter if they are a cis identifying woman and their body looks masculine, it does not matter if they are a cis identifying man and their body looks feminine, it does not matter what combination of secondary sex characteristics they may have, it does not matter what genitals they have, and it does not matter if they are trans, genderfluid, isogender, intergender, or cis- all intersex butch dykes are butch dykes because we say we are.

there are a lot and i mean a LOT of people who fall under this umbrella. a lot of people are called butch and dyke who don't even identify that way. many queer people develop a strong connection with the labels because of how much they are referred to by these terms, even if they do not fall under the strict "woman loving woman" definition. the butch community has never been here solely for masculine cis women- it is for all women, men, and people who identify as butches, studs, bois, lesboys, guydykes, lesboys and other masculine lesbians, sapphics & dykes. if you feel you identify as a butch dyke, we welcome you with open arms. diversity is what makes our community strong.

You can get yourself a physical copy or a digital one, where you'll read stories and essays from over a dozen trans men and transmasculine non-binary people who do sex work or have done it in the past!

Copies will be received by all backers by September at the latest, then the book launch for this anthology to be made available publicly will be in October. Backing the Kickstarter gets you a copy earlier than everyone else, allows me to add more contributors before the book is completed, and gets you free access to the online book launch with talks from various transmasculine sex workers.

A lot of the time when I ask for resources about transmasculine people in sex work, I find that we're a footnote in a book or paper about another topic or I'm directed towards the same singular zine or post online. Often people will send me my own articles, not realizing I'm the one who wrote them! This anthology seeks to resolve the void of information about transmasc sex workers and also make sure that the talented sex workers who provide their writing are compensated for that work.

Hey. Hey. You. Person with breasts who's considering mastectomy and feeling anxious that they'll regret it after. Consider the following:

- No longer having to accomodate your chest when wearing clothes

- Being able to publicly go topless (ex. for swimming)

- Don't have to worry about bras and other supports

- Back pain from a large chest? Who's that?

- Laying on your stomach just got easier

- Less worry about potential breast cancer, especially if you may be at risk

- You could get rid of your nipples, if you wanted

- And you could just get them tattooed on... or have a blank slate for whatever art you wanted instead

- Being able to move around (running, going up/down stairs, etc) without feeling any jiggle

- And if you wanted the appearance of breasts? You can wear fake boobs as long as you want, and be able to take them on & off whenever you want. And they can be any size, too. It's a much safer option, as opposed to binding.

If you really want it, why are you hesitating? Be happier built in your own image, instead of the one other people want to paint on you.

A long while ago (when I was an egg) I joked with my friends that queer people should appropriate gender reveal parties for people coming out.

Anyways, I recently came out to my friends as transmasc and they all planned a surprise transmasc gender reveal party for ME lol. One of them spent a long time making a cake with trans colors too. It was really sweet.

I’ll be starting hrt next week and it really boosted my confidence. I feel so much more at ease knowing all of them will have my back as I transition.

I'm so ashamed to identify as transmasc/ a trans man because of the amount of transmisogyny that comes from transmascs/men.

The fact that other transmascs are transmisogynistic does not mean that you are, or that you should be ashamed to be transmasc. Having said that, pride is a journey so it may take a while to get there, but I'm sure you will.

I've been seeing a disturbing number of "queer safe spaces" describe themselves as things like "femme & them" and even worse "she+," conflating femininity & nonbinaryhood. cease this immediately. say it with me: nonbinary people are NOT women-lite and it is extremely violent and straight up incorrect to imply that all they/thems are fem adjacent. this is erasure and this verbiage does nothing but make gnc and nonbinary spaces unsafe for masc and male nonbinary people. nonbinary, genderqueer and other third gender people can be and are masculine and men, we can be hes as well as shes and theys, stop allowing yourself and your peers to view nonbinary as woman/femme-lite, signed a butch nonbinary person.

That's sooo crazy because I have this little spreadsheet I'm working on where I'm trying to document all media with protagonists/major characters who are FTM or transmasculine.

The spreadsheet currently has 300+ entries spread across the following categories:

Books

Memoirs and non-fiction

Movies

TV Shows

Graphic novels / Comics

Webcomics

Audio dramas

Books and movies are also sorted by:

Which character is trans (MC, love interest, antagonist, etc)

If the trans character is POC

The trans character's sexuality (Because I saw lots of transhet guys sad about only being able to find gay romances)

If the author/actor is also trans (if we know for sure)

It's free to use, and free to add to as well! Editing permissions are on, and I check on the spreadsheet every now and then to make sure everything is in order and to clean up.

If you know something that isn't on the list, please add it! You don't have to fill in every single column, but fill it to the best of your abilities.

I just discovered that there was a person who was afab and ended up joining the russian army by the name of Alexander Durov in 1806.

Born a woman, Nadezhda Durova (birth name) ran away from home and joined a light cavallery regiment dressed as a man.

After his identity was uncovered, the russian tsar summoned him to the palace at St. Petersburg, where he impressed the tsar so much that he awarded Durov the Cross of St. George and promoted him to lieutenant in a hussar unit.

He always referred to himself as a man and was upset when people called him a woman.

He signed letters with his male last name.

He expressed feelings of disgust towards his sex and how that worried him a lot.

He never married willingly and adopted many dogs and cats.

He only danced with women when attending a ball.

He asked to be buried under his male name Alexander Andreevich Alexandrov but the church did not agree to that.

I never saw him in "historical transmasculine people" compilations and only discovered his story coincidentally.

Unfortunately, historians still adress him with female pronouns, although he did not want that.

Let's remember him together. We won't allow him to be forgotten.
