while i have my criticisms about amphibia, one thing i do like about the show is how they handle sasha as a character after her redemption arc. now, her redemption arc was not entirely satisfactory since it mostly takes place off-screen but i like how they didn’t erase her entire personality in order for her to be one of the good guys. both the shows i’ve talked about here before are on either end of a spectrum.
catra just.. doesn’t change at all. she doesn’t work on or even acknowledge her abusive tendencies, she doesn’t really mean her apologies, and she’s just the same shitty person except that she’s no longer working for the horde. because.. the horde no longer exists and horde prime has made it clear that he doesn’t want her. so she’s basically tagging along with the heroes because she has no other choice, and still being a bitch to everyone.
the owl house, on the other hand, changes all of its redeemed characters DRASTICALLY. amity, lilith and hunter are all stripped of their personalities as soon as they become good. amity used to be a snobby high achiever with an abusive mother and a neglectful father? she is luz’s awkward nerdy girlfriend now. lilith used to be part of a cult and resorted to violence and problematic acts to get her way? she is luz’s awkward nerdy aunt and eda’s awkward nerdy sister now. hunter used to be sassy and pessimistic, and an intensely traumatized child who just discovered some really life-shattering truths about his existence and also lost his best friend? doesn’t matter, he is willow’s awkward nerdy bf now. see a pattern here?
amphibia, on the other hand, strikes a good balance with sasha. we see that sasha is clearly guilty about her actions and is actively trying to make amends for everything she did (instead of making insensitive jokes and blaming people for her own actions like someone *cough*), but she has retained her personality at the same time. she’s still sarcastic and a rational thinker, she’s still bossy when she needed to be, she’s still good at making plans and solving problems. not to mention, they actually reframe her toxic characteristics into more positive ones, like her leadership skills actually being used for good, instead of being used to control and manipulate people.

friend, recently i came up with something that actually will blow up your mind after this:
C*tra stans, apart of being the most toxic person in the word, they are pedophiles ( for simping over a teenager ), zoophile ( simping over a cat that it's an animal ) and supports abusive relationships and promote abuse. Like they always said that " adults are smarter than kids because they know more better " but do they actually know what is be a redflag and a abusive person ? noooOOOooooooo. They keep deffending C*tr* as if she was an angel who did nothing. For example imagine that etheria is palestain and the horde is israel, C*tra stans deffend C*tra and are on the horde side that would mean that they deffend genocide because in this case israel attack palestain people and catra attcak etherian people i honestly find so hypocrite that catra stans deffend palestine when they deffend a genocide woman who killed and hurt innocent people.
Wow. Ok. So, I would like to politely disagree, a lot of them don't know that Catra is a teenager, a lot of people see Catra more like a furry than an actual animal, don't know that it's abusive and are in denial, and I don't wanna imply I know what they think about real war because of what they think of fiction.

as someone who got a small scratch on my leg by my cat ( on accident ) and felt it stinging for several minutes, there is absolutely no logical reason that adora shouldn't have been traumatized for near-life ( or forever ) or shouldn't have been in agonizing pain when catra scratched her several times.
even in 'Save the Cat', the reason why adora is crying isn't because she's in physical, burning pain, but because of catra being chipped.
and it's not like her acknowledging the pain would make a difference on the fandom anyway. girl literally has a nervous breakdown about catra killing her, killing her friends, destroying etheria, and their response is to act like adora saying "take me out" means she wants catra to take her on a date.
they don't take any of adora's pain seriously unless it negatively affects catra in some way, so they wouldn't have the excuse of "well, there's no lasting consequences, so ofc they wouldn't react", because the consequences that do last still don't matter to them. half even blame adora for it and act like she's being unreasonable.
but catra escalating a war and committing universal genocide, death of the monarch, and attempted murder-suicide isn't unreasonable or irredeemable at all. right.
like i said, i've gotten a small scratch on accident and it hurt like a bitch. i can't even imagine the agony you'd have to go through from getting scratched on both cheeks and on your back, shoulders to waist. and then again, by the same person, on your leg and, again, on your back.

y'all, I just remembered that Bow is the youngest of thirteen. Where did the other twelve go? Even when the world is quite literally ending, Bow shows no concern for or even mentions his brothers. His fathers don't mention them either. Not a single one.
What's the point of giving him siblings, especially that many, and not including them in the story some way. Especially in situations where it makes sense.
They could have easily made Bow's backstory involve these characters. In my rewrite, I plan(?) on having Bow have an older brother (only one because thirteen kids are way too many) who was killed by the Horde. This is the reason why he insists on fighting in the war. It is also the reason why his fathers are so against him being involved.
They could have easily added something like this in the reboot. Bow literally said in the second episode that "everyone has lost someone to the Horde."
Who did he lose? Where are his brothers? Are they okay? Does he not have a close relationship with them? I guess we'll never know.

Ememy Vs. Abuser: Catradora
Disclaimer: Netflix doesn't allow me to take screenshots. I tried to find clips on Youtube but a lot of these are stolen. And an obvious tw for abuse.
Tumblr media
When Catradora antis bring up how Catra abused Adora in seasons 1-4, a lot of people seem to be confused. The go-to defense is the following:
"Catra and Adora were enemies, they were put against each other in many battles. The 'abuse' is just what you'd normally expect from enemies to lovers".
A complelling argument, for sure. How can you expect of Catra to not be violent with someone who was put against her? The answer to this question can be answered through a different question: Why is Catra the abuser? Why not Adora?
What's the difference between an enemy, and an abuser?
1# The aggressor is particularly cruel to their future partner.
Catra doesn't use her claws on real people very often. She mostly uses them on objects or robots (or Shadow Weather's mask).
Tumblr media
At times, it's clear tnat she would gain a lot from using her claws, but she doesn't.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
One might suggest that it's because she understands the full weight of using them. Whatever the case may be, there is a person she doesn't seem to have these reservations about: Adora.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
2# Their intreractions contain emotional abuse.
Catra often blames Adora for things that aren't her fault. She's cruel to Adora, deliberately and viciously hurts her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
She makes mean spirited remarks and belittles her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Additionally, Catra gaslit her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And wouldn't you know it, she takes pride in having control over Adora.
Tumblr media
3# There is no balance.
As we previously established, Catra has no problem being needlessly cruel to Adora. But is Catra in the same danger? It it at least mutually toxic?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's not. Adora can fight and defend herself, but won't do more than she needs. Meanwhile, Catra seem to relish in brutalizing her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Further more, moments that could be considered romantic build up in their own, "spicy" way, are positioned with Catra on top, where Adora has no choice but to comply, where she's stuck there.
Tumblr media
4# The aggressor got in the victim's head.
Adora has a guilt complex. That's not a controversial take. She takes too much responsibility and thinks everything is her fault. A lot of this stems from Shadow Weaver, but there's another source.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And Adora is very quick to internalize her cruel remarks.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In Conclusion:
Catra and Adora's relationship can and was abusive during the war. They share specific patterns of abusive relationships even at war zone. Catra hurting Adora isn't all war stuff, it's personal, it's abusive.

im gonna be honest. i love hero x villain ships, and i love angsty enemies to lovers. but i hate catradora
why?
because of that dumb fucking redemption. if it was just a funny lil "what if the hero and villain had a thing for each other" ship i would've loved it.
but trying to redeem an abuser, blame the victim and play the relationship off as healthy? fuck no, catra is to be held accountable for all of her actions and adora deserves better than her. catra is a horrible person and the show should treat her as such, instead of an "uwu gay disaster baby".
enemies to lovers shouldn't be a victim being emotionally scarred from an abuser, it should be enemies who are equal to each other. i would much rather ship catradora if catra hated everyone else just as much as she hates adora
if you ship catradora, fine. good for you, honestly. but don't hit me with the "its healthy" bs, or the "you don't know what enemies to lovers means". i do know what it means, i just don't like the abuser x victim sort

Catradora And Stolitz: Forced In Toxic Childhood Romance
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You know the emphasis on Stolitz being childhood friends reminds me of the emphasis on Catradora being childhood friends. It's more of the fact they try to play off their dynamic as cute when it has glaring problematic elements that goes into their adult years. With Stolitz despite how it's dressed up is still a lower class child being treated as a toy by a high class child, while the latter is dismissive of genuine concerns about the lower class partner into their adult years and has a victim complex. The same thing with Catradora it's supposed to show how long their bond has been like and how both have been together for. However, it shows the obvious that Catra has always been possessive and abusive over Adora while also showing signs she's a sociopathic pos. While again she was abused, that doesn't excuse how she treated people and continued to do so.
The childhood friend angles is just a narrative device so that we know that they are fated to be together despite the fact one partner treats the other horribly and always feel victimized when called out. There is also the fact the narrative treats both parties as if they are equally to blame when one party really is abusive and has done nothing but treat the other like dog crap. However, the angle still wants us to pity them because they had a hard life despite the fact they act like shit to others and feel entitled to have their love returned. It just shows both are creator pets who are allowed to do anything because of their status. Also the narrative beats it over the head of the lead they should return their feelings or be treated like a bad person when they really should be more concern is their own wellbeing rather than slaving over someone who is self-centered and acts they are interested in their wellbeing when in reality they are only interested in what they want out of this relationship.

Found this pic a while back. And… yeah. Same here. Sure wish we some some answers. Worst part is that this isn’t even HALF of the questions I’m left with.
Yeah, sadly none of them are answered, with Catra they literally just found her IN A BOX, ohhh wowwww what a gooooood choiceee, I feel bad for all the people who made theories about where Catra came from and just found out she was left in a box.

My stupid opinion that will get me killed by the entire She-Ra fandom
Shadow Weaver had a better redemption arc than C4tra
Yes, I know that Shadow wasn't fully redeemed, was terrible, and never apologized for her actions. But at least she was useful and helped the rebellion, unlike C4tra who was just getting in everyone's way. Shadow had many chances to betray the rebellion but she didn't meanwhile C4tra (who committed more and worse crimes than Shadow) would probably betray them all if someone offered her greater power because she only joined the rebellion when it was her only chance of survival despite being offered to join them many times before. And while C4tra did say she was sorry she never properly apologized for everything she did (like killing Angela and almost destroying the universe) and her apology always felt like she was just trying to earn sympathy from others. And she continued treating everyone horribly even after that. Shadow Weaver stayed loyal to the rebellion until the very end and even died for them, I know many people say that she only killed herself to traumatize C4tra, but the only proof of that they have is the "You're welcome" and it still can be argued what she meant by that (In my opinion it was "You're Welcome, now that I'm dead I won't bother you anymore" I'm not gonna explain why I think that here because this post is not about that). Shadow was the one who found a way to stop Horde Prime and did everything to make sure it worked, meanwhile, C4tra was being a nuisance and a distraction just so she could be with Adora and didn't care that the world might get destroyed because of it. She tried to stop Adora from taking the failsafe even though Adora was the only person who could survive it and got angry when Adora chose to save the world first instead of making out with her. Just to be clear I'm not talking about who was a morally better person, but who made up for their actions more.
In conclusion: Actions speak louder than words, Shadow Weaver was useful to the rebellion while C4tra was not.

Stans are so funny. According to them, Shadow Weaver is an incredibly skilled and intelligent manipulator and poor Catra (who is also incredibly intelligent) was manipulated by this evil woman.
She's so awful... until she manipulates Glimmer that is. She's so "obviously" evil, and Glimmer is so stupid and selfish for being easily manipulated when she's in a vulnerable position after losing her mother and being forced to grapple with that grief (and her trauma) while fighting in a war and unexpectedly becoming queen.
What a terrible person Glimmer is, she's so evil for working with the enemy and Adora's abuser (remember Adora's abuse only matters when tearing down Glimmer!) even though Catra works alongside a literal genocidal maniac.
Don't forget that Glimmer is abusive to Adora for yelling at her and arguing with her! Catra is Adora's true friend and partner, she only aids in genocide and regularly assaults and tortures Adora because she's traumatised!

anti catradora rant
honestly i don’t even care what catradora stans say at this point. “it was because of her childho”-
catra tortured adora. catra hurt adora, even when they were friends. you’re not supposed to be in a relationship with someone like that, no matter how awful someone’s childhood was
Tumblr media
to elaborate on the torture thing, I’m specifically talking about the episode “white out”. catra gets hold on first ones tech, and decides to use it against adora. she had every chance and reason to run away, but chose to hurt adora, and didn’t seem to even flinch when her so-called crush was screaming in pain from her actions
Tumblr media
adora fought catra too. adora did try to hurt catra: they were enemies after all. but she didn’t try to kill her and cause pain. and catra did. maybe out of anger or trauma, but it doesn’t change the fact that she hurt adora when she had the opportunity not to
Tumblr media
catra on the other hand literally tried to end the fucking world. she told adora that she made catra what she became, blaming her for her own abusive actions. adora tried time and time again to reach out to catra so that she could run away with her. but catra refused and stayed, which was obviously adoras fault according to the show’s undertones
Tumblr media
she also killed glimmer’s mother but lets forgive her, everyone makes mistakes. i don’t think that glimmer got the apology that she deserved
another thing i noticed is how catra defenders will make glimmer out to be the bad guy.
glimmer and adora fought, and glimmer was honestly a pos against her friends in parts of the last seasons. she should have listened to the people around her.
but she had a fight with adora. she didn’t abuse her, she didn’t hurt her physically or torture her. she was trying to do the right thing, and ended up hurting the people around her in the process because she didn’t listen. she was also a great friend to adora for most of the series, and they made each other grow as people
Tumblr media
catra isn’t morally gray her morality is pitch dark
