Ship it!
1. What made you ship it?
There was a lot of JayTim fanart around when I first stumbled onto Tumblr back in the dark ages of 2011.
And, also, this fic.
Just.
Yes.
2. What are your favourite things about the ship?
I like them all kinda of ways, tbh! It's the *potential*. They're actually one of the few ships I ship more in AU settings than canon settings.
I like them kinda petty and bitchy together, a Tim with zero empathy and a Jason with too much empathy finding a balance, and the nu52 MiddleChild² dynamic where they're both sort of on the edge of the Batfam for different reasons and just accidentally getting attached. Tim learning that Jason is actually a real complex person and not just a cautionary tale, and Jason figuring out that they are similarly snarky under all the baggage.
But also, I like when Jason gets to be pushed around in the bedroom by someone smaller than him 👀👀
3. Is there an unpopular opinion you have on this ship?
I have THREE;
1 - if you're gonna do a Titans Tower AU, *please* remember Jason's custom adult Robin suit. He's not some intimidating figure looming in the shadows, he rocked up with the green panties and canary yellow leggings under his clothes and dramatically ripped them off!! It's campy and ridiculous and actually Tim should have laughed him right back out of the building lmao
2 - if you're gonna do a High School AU, Jason is the NERD with no friends who fuckin adores school, Tim is the loser skater kid everyone knows by name even though he skips 80% of his classes and falls asleep in the rest.
And 3 - Too much fic where Tim is a delicate flower trusting big scary Jason to be gentle with him, and not enough fic where Tim serial-cheater Drake gets to take Jason never-been-on-a-date-in-his-life Todd's V-card at like. 22.👌

You know what I love the idea of?
Figure skater Damian.
Imagine little bundle of rage ten year old Damian going to ice skating lessons, hating everyone there and getting annoyed whenever a kid almost bumps into him on the practice ice. Him stumbling on some of the things being taught and getting frustrated, but then finally getting them and moving up levels and getting really happy at getting stickers in his booklet. Damian being able to do complex moves at thirteen, Damian growing with it and it helping with him jumping on rooftops and training. Damian competing in competitions and ice skating making him very calm and he gets less and less angry all the time.
Imagine Bruce doing up ten year old Dami’s skates and all the batboys taking him to practice at one point. Dick feeling so proud and happy with him, Jason not caring at first but then seeing what he can do and having a new found respect, Tim begrudgingly taking him cause no one else can but marvelling at how good he is, Duke watching in awe as Damian does tricks and moves and congratulating him afterwards.

YJ High School AU
Plot bunny right now, mostly based on the original comic versions of these characters, mostly the classic 8. (Sorry, not sorry Ray. Never really was a fan.)
Bit of setup, I like the idea of pretty much none of these guys starting off as friends. Most of them barely even know each other, and have to develop those close bonds.
Tim Drake: Awkward new kid. Complete dork, figuring out this whole normal school thing (grew up in boarding schools). In some mechanics/computer classes, is seen as a nerd.
Bart Allen: ADHD weird kid. Always needs to move, eats a lot. Really annoying at times, but he grows on you. Member of the Art Club, unofficial class clown (but is still very smart, don’t make assumptions), but is constantly being scouted to join the Track team. 
Kon “Konel” [N/A]: That one asshole jock guy everyone had to deal with. Later grew a character arc and became a cool punk kid. Huge flirt, unbearably cocky. Secretly into soap operas and bad supernatural shows (“Wendy the Werewolf Stalker is art, you guys just don’t get it”).
Cassie Sandsmark: Skater punk girl. History/Classics nerd, loves comics. Considers herself “one of the guys”, pretty chill overall. Don’t get on her bad side, she’s the strongest in the friend group.
Cissie King-Jones: Former Archery Club member (mother forced her into it), is now studying to be a paramedic. Snarky best friend, best fashion sense, somehow has a longstanding friendship with Bart.
Greta Hayes: Shy girl that always hangs out in the background. Kind and sweet, but horribly traumatized over an event from her past. Always seen in a far too big brown hoodie, hood up. Somehow has negative presence, people think she’s actually a ghost.
Anita Fite: Transfer student, came in after Tim. Joined the group because, and I quote, “you lot looked interesting”. Gymnastics student, is equally as snarky as Cissie. They are best friends.
“‘Slobo” (No one knows his real name): Legendary delinquent, managed to break every single school rule in less than a week because he was bored. Got expelled, but he’s a pretty cool dude, anger issues aside. Pops up every now and then.
(Still working out the kinks, like who Kon is staying with. Just putting these out there for the world to see.)

Ok here me out timberkon with the Bernard figuer skating au like that’s how kon realizes oh wait I like both of them and Bernard and kon had been sharing Tim in a weird way so one day tim just says you both like each other so if we don’t all date each other no one is dating anyone at all and Bernard and kon are shocked and both realize oh wait we like each other and tim and the all get together and for dates Bernard teaches them how to ice skate and it’s cute and the go to his competitions and cheer and give him flowers just cuteness with a side of figure skating Bernard
Timberkon and Figure Skater Bernard au?? Now we’re talkin!!
Bernard teaching them both how to ice skate, my heart!! The scenario would be so cute, I can just feel it!! 🥺
I also think it’d be funny if Kon is lowkey using his TTK at first so he doesn’t fall-he’s nervous and doesn’t want to embarrass himself in front of Bernard ok?? Shut up Tim!!-but Tim calls him out and Bernard is just like “you don’t have to use that! Just hold onto my hand ok? I won’t let you fall!” Probably with a wink or something cause he’s trying to be cool and impress Kon, and Kon immediately crumbles because he’s already so smitten with him Akshsj (they’re both smitten dorks and probably at one point do fall, but Kon uses TTK/flight to make sure they don’t get hurt and it’s a whole romantic moment 💕 before Tim yells “nerd’s!” From across the rink at them Akshsj)
And them both going to Bernard’s competitions!! They’re a whole cheer squad by themselves, and they bring him flowers every time!! 💐
This also gave me an excuse to draw a Superboy themed costume(s) for Bernard to wear for a performance, so I thank you 😌🙏

Had to get a couple doodles out of my system-especially for costume designs! Figure skating costumes are so pretty, I had just as much fun doing research on them as I did designing/drawing Bernard’s outfits-of which I couldn’t resist doing a Robin themed one hehe
