Hey you all, Isaac Henderson is Aromantic Asexual

I saw a Facebook post on someone saying that Isaac was "the representation of those of us who are always single" (in a sad undertone), and people started commenting things along the lines of "yes, i'm the Isaac of my group of friends, the forever alone haha"

I had to breathe really deeply after reading all the comments. People complaining that they are the ones always single, that they only get to see their friends falling in love. And don't get me wrong, I get it. I get that alloromantic could people feel lonely if they are looking for a partner and it justs doesn't happen, but it is not the same representation we are seeing (or are going to see) with Isaac.

Isaac is aromantic asexual. Written like that since the beginning by Alice Oseman herself. He's an aromantic asexual character, that is single because he wants to be* (at least during S1) and this aspect of his character is going to be explored more in the next seasons.

I read people 1. denying that he's aromantic asexual or 2. completely ignoring the aromantic part of his orientation and straightly up saying "he's asexual but he can date"* (I've seen this with Tori too, but that's topic for another post). Someone even suggested that that was not possible because there was a romantic subplot between Isaac and James planned for S2 (where did they get that from???)

So, if you identify with Isaac because he has no partner on S1, that's great, but the imply that he's therefore sad and lonely is hurtful to the aromantic community and actually, if you are feeling sad and lonely because you have no partner, I might suggest that you take a deep dive in your platonic connections. Love is not solely romantic.

I hope everyone is having a good pride so far and for the rest of the month.

Just a reminder that every queer person is valid. Whether you are still in the closet or are out. Whether you discovered you were queer at a young age or later in life. Whether are you questioning your gender/sexuality or are confident in yours.

Pride is a fight and a celebration. It is a fight for our history, our rights/freedom, and our identities. But it is also a celebration of our identities. During this pride month we all have to remember queer joy. Even when it seems like the world is against all of us there will always still be moments of absolute queer joy. Like when you go on a date, watch a tv show/movie with queer characters, or find a new label that fits you perfectly. If we don’t remember all those moments of joy, we will lose ourselves to the hate. Being queer is about celebrating our own identities and creating a community we can feel comfortable in. A large part of being queer is protecting each other. We all need to stand together against injustice. It will much easier to tear us all down if there is already cracks from within. This pride month we need to stand together with all our queer siblings.

Everyone have the best possible pride month you can have. Enjoy the small moments of life. And remember figuring out yourself is not a race. It doesn’t matter if someone else understood themselves better at a younger age. Just remember everyone moves at their own pace. Being comfortable with yourself isn’t a race and there is no finish line. We only have one life to live and there is no point in comparing our journeys to others. Everyone has a different queer experience and that is the most beautiful thing imaginable.

A new avatar design for a new identity. Last month I realized my interesting views on my gender and that I never cared how people view it or that I don't want to have ties to masculinity anymore.

So I came out as both Gender Apathetic/Apagender and Nonbinary, falling under trans as well. If people want to view or refer to me as male, that's fine, if they want to view and refer to me as female, that's fine, if they want to view me as something else, once again that's fine. So my avatar, a little eldritch creature that's gender identity is up to anyone's interpretation and can be shown presenting as anything or nothing. I hope everyone enjoys it, and whoever has a problem with it can leave the way you came in.

It felt awful though because online you can't defend yourself and I am never defended anyway. I was all because of nothing tbh and they started being transphobic and calling me ugly and commenting about my androgyny and alopecia like god as if i don't already know I'm ugly and gross looking
